We did get it reprogrammed but It did work fine after I installed it. It was programmed just to be sure everything was working right.
Copy that. Thank you. And thank you for the great video. Any idea how this Detroit axle rack is holding up?
I put mine in and I had the traction control light and hill assist lights come on right away. Took it to the dealer and they said they programmed it but the lights were still on. They looked into it and said either wrong rack or bad rack. So either the electronics on it are bad or are wrong. Detroit axle is being no help. So I will be paying for 2 alignments and programming done twice.
Does Ford has a recall on this?
No
They do have a recall , they'll pay if it has less than 150,00, i called ford and thats what they told me, the mechanic told me that also, ( mine has 156,00) so ill have to do it myself)
O when I looked I couldn't find a recall. That's good they do.
@@johnnyg2983 can you provide the number for Ford that you called?
@@shortyboy1986 depends on the VIN. My 2014 was produced just after the 2011-2013 recall. I am saving receipts in case someday they add another 6mo of manufactured vehicles to the recall. I think the models sold in 2014 that were produced up to April of 2013 are covered.
Do you have to disconnect the battery?
You should
how much did the dealership charge to reprogram the unit
It was 100 & something
Did you had to do any using Ford IDS software?
Just replace mine on a 2016 and the steering wheel feels too hard to make turns.
Also Service advancetrack warning lights came up.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
We had to get it programmed. I just installed it. Just make sure everything is hooked back up. There wasn't any lights on when I installed it. It wasn't hard to turn either.
I just replaced mine and all warnings went away will I have to still.get the down load?
Maybe not.
I just replaced mine in my 2014 Ford Focus and after driving my hill Assist disabled in my traction control light came on along with the i indicator light took to fords had paid the $95 to program it they cleared the codes attempt to drive on highway quickly seemed like steering was still hard and the lights came back on again and just all around felt like bad idea to get off the highway and go back roads home so it does drive the steering isn’t like it originally was so I’m still searching for the answer to this problem turning up empty handed it loosens up keeping it under 30 mph and get harder the faster ya go so I know your pain I’m stuck between is my new unit faulty or is something else going on maybe an alignment cause it came with new ball joints would this effect how stiff the steering is so far I’ve found nothing if you figure it out please let me know
how did it go for you? Mine is 16 Explorer as well (platinum) and my reman rack should be here tomorrow. Finger crossed that everything will go smoothly
So how about the programming the new part to the car system?

There is an active recall on these. No cost to you for parts and labor.
I tried that when it went bad but they said it was for only the older 1s
So no programing needed ?
From what ford said you do
how much did the repair cost?

It's not cheap
Did you just take it to the dealer after to reprogram it

Just replaced mine, 2013 Ford explorer limited. Now im getting a warning, lane keeping assist malfunction.
That's a new 1. Not sure what thats all about. I'm not a fan of these Electric racks. Might have to get it programmed since it is a new 1.
@@shortyboy1986 do you know what plug controls the lane assist? I called the company that I bought it from and they had no clue and after a Google search I came up empty handed
No mine did not have it. Sorry. You have the main power which is 2 thick wires the other 1 I have is for the steering angle sensor.
You yon up the ground wire to the rack?
@@shortyboy1986 yes, I have the ground back on. I might need to get back under it and sand down where the ground is, never did that.
Need to do this in my wife’s 2013 Flex

I had to change it a few times because of bad 1s. But it's been good sense
