There is a knocking when turning steering wheel in park. Subaru replaced psr but the noise remains. I can't drive a straight line. As if i was a lil drunk. Irritating for sure. Subaru says nothing wrong. Not sure that they replaced anything.
Hi, my son has an 08 ford explorer. He just had the inner/outer tie rods, lower ball joints, upper control arms and sway bar links replaced on both sides. His mechanic also noticed the rack n pinion is leaking and i hear a noise that sounds like grinding. He continues to drive as is. I need to know what are his risks if he xontinues to drive like that until he can fix. Your help is appreciated. Thank you!
if the system leaks oil, it means that the servo pump is also getting foul air inside and has too low a hydraulic oil level, which contributes to the destruction of the servo pump. This will eventually show in the difficulty of turning the steering wheel. Then it's time to replace the oil pump and rebuild the power steering rack. The cost is not small, at least $400
The boot on the Steering Rack is there to cover the inner tie rod ball joint, to keep its grease inside and to protect it. once the boot is off, the grease that protects it slowly leaks our due to heat and dirt. As a result the inner tie rod can go bad. But not necessarily the steering rack.
Have you hit something hard lately? If not, they steering rack can also go bad due to wear and tear as it gets old. Usually you have to replace it when this happens. Good Luck!
My steering sometimes is tight but most of times its working normal, i hear some slight clunking sound when quickly rotating left right steering wheel in still position, i also hear slight noise like a damn diesel engine, when i turn steering wheel, this is bad rack?
It definitely has to be checked out. But sounds like you may have either a control arm ball joint issue, or tie rod ball joint issue. They tend to make that clunking sound when turning. Check those out, you can get them replaced if they are the problem. Usually steering rack has a much longer life. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

My boot came off the steering rack it didn’t rip it just popped off it’s been off for a while but I’m now noticing these symptoms could it be the rack
Was it the Rack?

What if I loose power and whole car dies when I turn my steering to the left? I was told it's my rack and pinion.
My Ram 1500 has every single symptom in this video.
Oh noo. That's not good. Possible you may need to replace the Steering Rack and the Tie Rods. Good Luck!
Scotty
Steering was tight and perfectly straigh up untill i had my tires rotated
Hitting any object including deer on the road can cause wheel mis-alignment.
Oh yeah. It pulls to the right a little now. I think its tie rods.
Sounds like your car is out of alignment now. Possibly may have to replace a Tie Rod, and then do 4-Wheel Alignment. Good Luck! Thank you for sharing.
I hit a deer on my.passenger side and when I turn left or right i get 1 single pop and when i recorrect the wheel inhet another pop.
Sounds like a possible ball joint.
