- Hey guys in this video i am showing you how to replace the rack and pinion on a 2013 Ford explorer the customer came with a complaint that every time the car was turning it would make a really grinding noise, the problem was the rack and pinion internally grinding. hope you find this video helpful and please sub and like for more videos.

I just installed a rack and pinon on a 2013 Lincoln mkt and I was trying to calibrate it just the way you did, I got an Autel but I don’t have the same
Selection as you do. Which autel you have ?
I have the autel im608, u can download forscan is free and use your interface j2534 and it should let u calibrate with forscan
One question: I accidentally polished a small segment of the anti-rust zinc coated surface of my steering rack: How do I recover the area I accidentally polished?
Wanted to ask,,, how about the new steering racks which are made in China? Many brands are there, even cheaper!! Any experience/advice?
honestly I haven't tried thise yet but most of the parts are made in China and Thailand so maybe you. an give it a shot just make sure u get warranty on it just in case.
Hey boss dealer is charging a lot to fix mine . I have a Lincoln MKZ 2015 . Can I get a used part for it and will it be programmable or is it just better to go with a refurbished or remanufactured part . Just to be safe . Can I also program it with the type of tool you have or just dealership only?
u can get a used part and there is no need to reprogram it the only thing you just do is calibrate the steering wheel only, all units come programmed already just need to calibrate and that's it, u can install it and drive it right away and if you don't have a tool to calibrate it just drive it to a shop and they can do it with a scanner.
i wanted to purchase a autel can you recommend one that will have the same functions that are needed for these jobs? thanks!
how much u really want to spend on a scanner. do you work alot on cars or just want to do a particular car only?
I put a brand new Rack in a 2018 Ford Explorer. Im trying to program the Module. Its asking for a 7 digit number.. Where do I get that? Im using Autel MS919
the scanner never asked me for that all I did was steering angle reset. the module already comes coded you just need to reset the dynamic steering

I already put rack and pinion in my ford 2012 2.0 limited but not calibrated and now I have bunch of lights in dash so I’m just need to calibrate? I don’t have preoblem if I already use the car?
yea u need to calibrate and probably do an alignment too
I’m have a 2015 as well that needs one. What was the part number from ford? Also do you know if forscan can reprogram the explorers?

yea u can program it with forscan too
@@JVFIXLLC How will I know if it needs to be programmed, I replaced it and there was an ABS code but that was it something about low voltage. Using forscan after the ABS code was cleared there are no other codes. I'm new with forscan also sorry.

yes u can
Did you do the alignment after or do you need to do alignment before the reprogram???
when done installation I aligned first the tires by eye because when u remove the tie rods it is never too accurate so yea you will need to align it in a shop after installation
What exactly model is your scanner? Mine went bad and dealership is charging me almost 3k to replace, and program it
yea the scanners that I use and also love to use is the autel elite and autel im608 nothe are a perfect combination if you are in the automotive repair industry.
you. an also buy the FORDscan. you only need the adapter and it's more cheap.

Hello, I want to ask a question. When the steering wheel screen spoke to the car, the steering wheel remained turned approximately 90 degrees. How do I adjust it again? please can you help?
you need a scanner and go to live data, there you can exactly see if your steering is centered right

(STE-798-RM) since it's a remanufactured part will it be hard to program it, I bought it off of eBay. The other model is on backorder

I need your help , i had my 2012 ford explorer power steering rack and pinion replaced and now it says service advancetrac I don't know how to calibrate it and when i go to workshop they say it doesn't need programing i don't know what to do
yea you need to calibrate it with a scanner, the option is gonna be in the abs module or steering control module but you need a scanner to access it. do you have any?
@@JVFIXLLC i have forscan on my laptop i put the as built data and nothing changed, the nain problem is that my steering wheel is a bit heavy and sometimes the car brakes on its own saying service advancetrac i really need to fix this issue as soon as possible
@@JVFIXLLC my ford is a ford explorer 2012 limited so it has some features that use the pscm such as adaptive cruise control and auto park so when i replaced my steering rack and pinion these options don't work anymore
@@JVFIXLLC i am afraid that the whole reason for this is that i might have bought the wrong power steering rack and pinion i don't know if there is a difference between XLT and Limited rack and pinion but i hope there are the same

My bad couldn’t find a video on the rack an pinion i was frustrated, my lights turn ofd while parking the next day i had power steering reduce the mechanic saying the rack and pinion is bad so i was trying to do it my self and save the 300 fee lol
@Romerojesus1 ok I yours is electric and what I have seen in these trucks silverados with electric power steering is the that usually the high amp fuse burns so I would check the fuse for the power steering that is located next to the battery
