Just found this video, super excited for Vessel of Hatred! Cool fact they made a new "Infernal" Butcher in the latest season of D4 in the horde mode, where he can randomly show up, pretty cool!
You said it best @ 2:00 man! This hits hard. Even with D4 supposedly going darker it’s still missed the mark capturing the essence of what the butcher was. It would’ve been cool if and when you come upon him the lighting goes dark and you only have a little light over your character and you get the audio cues and then he chases you. It could’ve been so good and epic lol.
That would be so dope lol But i also feel a lot of people would complain too, for better or worse gaming is not the same thing and you have to appeal to a broader audience
Butcher scary AF in D4 honestly. I thought it was great. He was also a rare challenge in the game that showed progression. Die die die take longer to die somehow barely kill in 10 mins, face tank and burn in 5 secs by the end.
The butcher was the smith in Diablo 2. Never been so uncomfortable trying to push through an area in a game. He gave me emotional damage as a kid. BTW: Diablo 2 resurrected looks twice as good as Diablo 4.
@@MrSparsilishe's called the smith or something. A very forgettable, poor man's butcher. You can say the dude guarding the forge is the butcher too, with that logic tho
Just so its clear, thats not the Butcher. Its a mob that used a very similar model basically, and its called "The Smith". In Act 4, you meet another smith, called "Hephasto" who uses the same model. Not the same character, and obviously just made as a reference.
I built a necro tank with infinite healing. I was able to stand still and tank all his hits. The first time i encountered him though i wasnt as strong. I ran to a nearby pillar and made him run circles around it back and forth and he couldnt hit me. I just waited for my blood mist and power cooldown to deal the damage needed. Eventually killed him. Took me a while though.
First of all, nothing about including the Butcher in any Diablo Game after D1 makes any sense at all. He is no higher or lesser evil, he's just a demon and he was killed in D1. So how the fuck would he have ever been able return? Second of all, they fucked the butcher up in D3 and D4 just took that model and kept fucking it up. The Butcher is NOT made out of other demons originally. He was just an Overlord. A Demon class from D1 - and thats it Overlord. He had his own Cleaver and wore a white, sleeveless butcher shirt. No hook, to jumping and charging, no sickle, no fire attack, no boar teeth....again they fucked him up.
I’ve played an insane amount of Diablo 2 and a buddy of mine just said he was in 2 and we argued. I said that in 2 they were too busy being creative to include him.
Lol i guess they didn’t want to mess with the lore they had for him, like maybe it was cooler to have only one butcher, and said butcher was killed in the first game so it wouldn’t make sense to include him in any other
@@Alejann9I played a ton of D3 with a buddy that wasn’t a teenager when D2 came out. I told him d3 is so similar to d1/2 because of reused assets and ideas.
I would say d3 is really different from 2! the idea is the same but the fast gameplay and the fantasy looking graphics sets it apart imo! not that i think is something bad tho i really enjoyed d3 too :D @@SuperEagle112

The D3 hate is getting old. Its a far superior game than D4. And really, D2 was great back in the days, but its flaws are too big in 2024. You didnt know where he was in D1? Wtf bro. He was always on the same level IF you got the quest in that play through. And he was always in an exact same tile.
@@Braxynglet i agree the hate on D3 is getting old and so is the hate on D4, none is superior than the next, each diablo offers a different experience, even immortal is cool to play in the bathroom lol
@@Alejann9 The biggest issue with D4 is that its just doesnt run smoothly. The game occasionally freeze when you open a tab, its long loading times, laggy. The social HUD is miserable. It would feel better if it didnt have all these issues. Then you even could be ok with the flawed endgame. Diablo games has always been grindy, but D4 takes it too a whole new level with all the grinding for boss mats.
@Braxynglet I played D3 on release and for a long while after which I'm assuming you didn't by the way you're talking. The game was mediocre until years after. Mainly after the expansion and even then.. D3 was way too cartoony and childish. In D4 I have basically zero performance issues, and neither do my friends, its such a well optimized game, might be an issue on your end. D4 is miles ahead of D3 , I'm sorry, but it's just true! D3 did some things right but it was a good game for people who mainly never played Diablo prior.
Lol, are you a Blizzard employee? D4 is the worst game in the entire franchise. Extremely lack luster socials functions and social hud. Really bad end game. And performance issues when doing mundane things like opening you inventory. I have a computer which should run the game without any issues what so ever. And I have a very solid ISP.
@@Touchin-Grass Also, I played D3 from the get-go. All the way from the time where inferno was a challenge, and the BiS items were rares. To the end where you got handed the gear and would just look for better rolls.
D2's Butcher = The Smith. It's a fat and muscular cow-demon-man that swings with one-hand, and it's name is that of a profession. But I understand it conveys nothing of the horrific charm that the original Butcher had.
One of my fav bosses of all time. Nice vid
Thank you! Definitely one of the best enemies

In D1 all you had to do was lead him to the stairs that led down to level 3 and walk around and around until he gets stuck on the staircase.
lol is that true?? i need to give it a try!! sounds like sweet vengeance for all the horrible things he put me through
Imma give this a try today

Oh yeah d2 resurrected looks amazing! Maybe looks better bc the game is not open world?
If they just added 5 new acts to d2, I'd pay 💯. Might end up superior to D4. Especially if they made it a non shitty, live service
I love diablo 2,but you're tripping...
@ickerolig No, the Smith in D2 isnt the Butcher. The Smith is an Overlord, just like the Butcher and Hephaisto, but they are all different characters.

Just so it's clear the butcher is in Diablo 2 he is a boss before u face and Ariel so yea he is in the game and he is yellow colored there
