Used to run back from school to watch the complete genius of Neil - having been fascinated by his work since his days as part of the fabulous Rutles and the ever so quirky Bonzo. Thankfully the powers that be never really understood the natural subversiveness of his work - I suspect that in these modern times programs of this genre would never even be considered never mind reach production stage. It would have to be animated or involve a lot of CGI and have masses of lucrative merchandising opportunities - to quote the Rutles 'All You Need is Cash'
A superb song - beautifully brought to life by Lynne.
RIP Neil Innes (1944-2019). You made the world a quirkier and more fascinating place!
I saw this in the early Eighties when it was first broadcast.
RIP Neil Innes.
There aren't enough people with your take on life. You will be missed.
So did I, and the song has been in my head ever since.
Rest in peace Neil Innes, a great talent.
This song’s just so good! I’m so sorry about today’s loss. RIP and thanks Neil. x
I only know the French artists because of this song. It should be on the art history curriculum at school. Thank you Neil Innes!

RIP Neil. This one's got a whiff of Deaf School about it, but they were into the Bonzo's so it figures.
A pleasure to wake up to a nice bit of Cezanne
And Neil's dressed like Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
This one's Goya good tune.
Love this so much! Because I love Art and remember the Bonzo.s
