- What is the best tire dressing for your car? Side by side with Carpro Perl & Chemical Guys VRP. Both the Carpro Perl and VRP are great for detailing your car tire. Durability is great and lasts comfortably to your next car wash. Be sure to fully clean the tire between tire dressing applications to avoid layering product which can lead to a real mess. The Carpro has a deeper black look with a slight amount of shine. Chemical Guys VRP has a more OEM matte finish that has a more new tire look. Carpro is a little harder to level than VRP but both are super easy to apply. I really like them both and there is no winner here. Its just comes down to personal preference with the look.

Really good points that I didn't really think about before. I sometimes go a few weeks between washes (especially in the winter), so Perl seems like it's perfect for me. I can use it year round and when I need the extra durability, it's there. 👌

Your 100% right about durability, it's nice for paintwork in terms of being coated, but for tires it's nice to apply a fresh layer each wash. I love perl 1:1 for an OEM look and it lasts until each wash which is all I care for

@@HawaiiDetailing it's hard finding a ton of non shiny OEM look tyre dressings that aren't "tyre coatings". Maybe Gtechniq T2 or Koch Chemie plastar?

Love how easily PERL is to remove on my tires. I wash my truck weekly so it’s also important how easily it is to remove for me too. KCx PSS is one of the hardest dressings to remove on tires. I only use it for plastic trim now.
Yes super durable is not always a good thing. When it starts to look like crap I want to get it off the tire easy too. Thanks for watching

Thank you for the vid. Well i just bought the big bottle of Perl based on numerous great reviews , so i am happy to see how it looks. Like you, I'm not looking for any crazy durability because i clean my tires and wheels weekly as part of my wash regiment, and i always reapply my tire dressings anyway.

I JUST used the VRP yesterday. I was nervous. I’ve never detailed my car. It is the most amazing product. Easy to use. I squeezed it onto a microfibre cloth. And wiped. So easy. The more you use the more shine. It’s not oily and feels dry to the touch. Used in on the dash/ instruments and exterior black trim areas.
Barely used any product and did all seven seats in my van too. Vinyl.
I am a life long customer now.

I've been using the chem guys galactic black tire dressing and I like it, but Im getting to the end of the bottle so I picked up a bottle of the vrp today while I was at Walmart. Ive heard good stuff about it so I'm pretty excited to try it.
It’s a great short duration product that goes on easy. There are better products out there but this is a good choice. Thanks for watching

PERL gets my vote. I've tried both and believe PERL is the more premium product for my customers that are not sure if they want their tires coated. As for me and my customer that want that upgrade of 'Wheels Off' and coating, I coat my/their tires with Renew Protect's BLAK (as a base layer) and top coated with SATN or GLOZ (tires must be super clean first, 3 to 4 scrubbings until the foam from the soap/degreaser is pure white). As always, prep work is key. Easy on, last 1-year, and I like the fact it keeps my tires sidewalls from rotting, UV protects, and doesn't come off with soap and a pressure washer. Please do a review on these products. You may change your mind. I live in Arizona so tires drying out and rotting is an issue with our extreme heat and road temps reaching 300 degrees. I really don't like scrubbing tires when it's 120 degrees. If you can review these products, please use an old tire (this stuff will not come off and the SATN has Si02). Again, I really enjoy your reviews and your clean shop setup. Thank you.

Used VRP for a while, very good product, but durability is an issue. Switched to Perl, no turning back, using it 1:1, love the look and durability. Can go on quick washes before reapplying. Great video 👍
Thanks man. I agree. I like carpro for the durability. Definitely a tougher product. VRP is so easy to use and level out. If you wash your car a lot it’s a good product too.

VRP for the win on big off road tires. Does not fling all over after application . The shine is perfect for these big, fat tires on my Tacoma and other trucks. I've tried shinier dressings for these tires and it looks dumb lol. Also, all the other dressings always fling all over my fenders, doors and quarter panels 🤦🏾♂️. The best thing about it is that after 2 weeks of being on the trails and rock crawling in the deserts or in the mountains and forests, it washes off easy and the dirt and mud falls off easily during the wash, ready for another coat. 🤘🏽
They are both water based products. As such they both come off with rain. Only way you would get 3 months out of Perl is if your car didn't get wet once. The thing is though that Perl goes a lot further if you dilute it like they say you can. It also spreads easier that way. I use it at 4:1.
You can dilute the perl with water to make it more matte finish ,I found its best to use a Round detail brush to apply , It gets in all the nooks a crannies better

At least 2 weeks of reasonable looks. Maybe longer depending the conditions. It pretty robust durability. Thanks for watching

My go-to combo for tire durability is apply VRP then spray coat with turtle wax seal n’ shine😉. You guys will be surprised how amazing it is😉

After I apply the tire dressing, I always drive the car half a tire rotation ahead(or back) to get 100% coverage on the part that was on the ground.

I bought VRP without looking at too many reviews and I'm typically the guy who likes the fresh off the factory, or natural rubber look and this confirmed the VRP was the right choice. It's also cheaper... though you can't dilute it. Good review!

In your experience, does one last longer than another between washes? Sometimes it's 2 weeks or more between washes so it'd be nice to have something that looked semi-decent for at least that long. I get that you don't want something that's hard to remove but I also don't want to look at my tires 5 days later and have it look like I haven't done a thing. I've used VRP for tires as well as my tonneau cover and interior and I'm quite happy with it, but I'm always interested to try new products and Perl is very well reviewed of course.

Perl lasts longer for sure. It worth trying out. It can be diluted too so the more you dilute it the less gloss and the shorter the durability. I like it a lot. I use both. The thing about VRP is it’s so easy but the durability is less for sure. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Honestly, what you want is a petroleum based product. I don’t know why they’re so demonized but you can get the same effect or even more shine with Meguiars endurance tire gel-just wipe down the tire with a rag hard after applying it to knock it down to the levels of these water based dressings. It won’t sling. It’ll last those 2 weeks easily rain or shine and it’ll be easy enough to clean when you wash it to apply another thin layer.
I love water based dressings don’t get me wrong, but some of us have things to do in life sometimes that causes us to skip a wash for a week or two. My biggest annoyance with water based dressings is that they’re all look the same after like 4 days if it’s not garaged and driven
This is exactly why I never ceramic coat my vehicles. I want to correct it if need be, and take it down to the paint when I need to. It has it's place but not sure if I will ever use it. Too much durability is not needed for tires either. Well said Jeremy!

Why not use like a 1 year coating? Shouldn't need to correct it more than a year and would come off easy if you had too. It just acts as a sacrificial layer so hopefully you can keep more of your precious clear coat!

Perl is a lot more durable and can be diluted to make it more economical. Neither attract any unusual amount of dust at least not here in hawaii. I have used them both quite a bit over the years. Thanks for watching

VRP is one of the very few products from them that I do like. Most of their products are all label and no action. That’s just my opinion. I am sure you could put together a good kit from them that works fine but there are so many other good products out there there is no need to do that. The one good thing they have is they have a store in every city where you can go and buy stuff and look around and ask questions. That’s a good resource for a beginner. Thanks for watching.

I see you use brake buster, have you tried their tire dressing, Shine All? I’ve been using it on my Tesla now and it seems to give a nice gloss. Personally I want an even higher gloss. So trying to find the right one.

How is Chemical Guys VRP when it rains or when there is moisture in the air like morning mist/dew? Will it leave white runny streaks on the trim?
It’s definitely not the most durable dressing. It will wear off quickly. I would move up to carpro Perl or similar if you want it to stay on longer and look better longer.

Idk if my bed cover was really dry but it soaked in the VRP so fast and made it difficult to apply. It may have been because it had never been protected or coated for so long as far as I know

This is a tough one...Perl looks "more black" to Me. CG vrp seems thinner and glossier. I've been using Perl a lot lately. They both last a while and look great. You cannot beat the price on cg vrp. I like how You dried it...good move! learned something new today! thanks!

Is there a matte-finish product with results like VRP, but with the durability of the Perl? I’ll be honest, I cannot stand that shiny tire look, so the matte finish is preferable to me.
Go with Perl and use a microfiber after you apply to knock it down a bit to flat.

I love VRP. But my biggest issue is it’s durability. It only last about a week. It’s water based, so it’s not that hard to get off.

CarPro PERL diluted 3:1 looks OEM new or even 2:1 looks like VRP with pretty much no degradation in longevity.
Car pro is good stuff. Durability is the biggest issues with VRP. If you detail often it’s a good product. Easy to use.

who cares as long as it produces the specific look your going for, doesn't turn brown and doesn't sling.. that's all that matters. with any good tire wheel cleaner. .. its coming off so get what you like as long as it is a quality dressing.
