A few years ago Turtle Wax made an aerosol that I sprayed on my truck tires, it lasted almost a year of daily driving in all types of weather, I ran it through a carwash one time and they sprayed wheel cleaner on them and it ate it off. Of course Turtle Wax pulled it off the market because an $8 can would do 2 vehicles and last a year, no money to be made I guess.
@@Bidenmytime I still have like 5 bottles I bought before they were discount should last me before i am dead , note though what they use is actually acrylic thats why is lasted so long.
I remember that stuff!! Best ever and therefore took it off the market. Funny thing is now that it's gone, not many people like any of their tire dressings. That stuff they wouldn't be able to keep it stocked if they still sold it. Walmart untouchable wet tire shine is by far the best for the money on tire AND plastic trim. Last for 6-7 months on the faded plastic and makes it look like new. I have been using it for 3 years and very few times.. $4.50 for the can. The best value and long lasting look. I hope that helps.
Meguiar's Endurance tire gel. Is a huge surprise. After many years of using all types of tire shine and cleaning products. Endurance is very affordable and works like no tomorrow. Your tires do not even have to be very clean but not covered with mud. You will have to apply 2 or 3 coats but it goes on so easily. I have used the same all-purpose microfiber terry towel for 2 months. It is saturated with Mequiar's Endurance tire gel. One 16-ounce bottle has enough gel to do 60 tires or more. Again, I have repeatedly used the same 8x8 microfiber towel and have never seen it contaminate or smug a tire I have already applied Endurance on often. It keeps your tires shiny, even after driving in the rain there is no noticeable loss of shine. It has a nice Gloss, not super gloss like having a mirror shine. Touch-up is a breeze if needed. I purchased 4 Mequiar's Endurance tire gel a couple weeks ago from Advanced Auto Parts on sale 2 for $12, 4 for a total of $24 minus $5 Perks Reward was $20 making it $5 per bottle. Wow! For $20 I have enough tire gel to do my 2 cars for a whole year possibly 2 years. I have used a quarter or 1/4 of a bottle applied numerous times and on several of my neighbor's vehicles. This Meguiar's Endurance works like a charm. Oh! it smells a bit like grapes ... nice odor. I wear a Nitrile Glove as it is a slick gel when wiping it onto the tires. Yes! there are spray tire shines but they cost more and quickly run out of product. ** about Meguiar's Endurance Tire Gel ** Advanced, long-lasting formula endures even through washing and rain. Rich gel eliminates overspray, runs, and drips providing an even and consistent high gloss shine. Protects against UV damage and browning. Advanced polymers provide lasting, high gloss protection keeping tires black with a rich, dark high gloss. High gloss shine that lasts for weeks, Long-lasting, high gloss shine.
I gave the Exoforma a shot this spring. Prior to application, I deep cleaned the tires about 3x with Adams wheel/tire cleaner because I have a lot of it handy. The whole process was pretty time consuming for a tire shine application. I'll probably do it again on my next set of tires, but for most people I can see it being too much work for too little gain. The gloss didn't last very long, but dirt doesn't stick to the tire. As long as you don't apply other tire shines over it, you can wipe your hand on the tire without anything noticeable coming off after months of driving. A quick rinse with a hose or a drive through rain will clear what dust has accumulated. A quick wash with just car soap will restore the uniform deeper matte look. So, in effect, it's coated, but it's not going to be "shiny" for very long (as their ads suggest).
One consideration that is never mentioned is that different rubber compounds react differently to different products. Meguiar’s “Insane Shine” works extremely well on my Continental tires. It stays shiny, doesn’t sling badly and remains on for quite a while. By the same token it doesn’t perform as well on the Yokohama’s on my CX 5
I’m very surprised that nobody has heard of Duradressing! Best tire dressing I’ve ever seen. Higher price point but extremely higher results. Lasts for months. When you wash your vehicle, you just wash the tire as well and it remains shiny. I’ll never go back to these store bought shines. Waste of money. Thanks for the comparison!
New tires? Clean with mild soap, rinse with distilled or low ppm water, let fully dry. Spray Griots Ceramic 3 in 1 wax and buff, let dry. Repeat 3 times in total. My tires rinse clean even after using them for two Canadian winter seasons. Better then any tire shine shenanigans.
This is just my opinion, but I personally feel that tire dressings, no matter the formulation, are really only useful on a vehicle that is washed and mildly detailed on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I’ve gotten really good results from Meguires “Endurance” tires dressing. But even still, no matter my personal mileage with the longevity of the product, I think that for most people you will see these exact results. If you like the look of black conditioned tires, you’ll need to apply regularly relative to how much you’re driving and what your driving conditions are (like you said, garage Queen Vs daily driver). As of right now, based on what I’ve seen and used, there is NO “Set it and forget it” tire dressing. They all require maintenance just like plastic dressings.
Griots garage tire shine is probably the best tire shine ive used. the shine is crazy (instructions for medium shine) Applying is easy (like spray can) and lasts actually pretty long because i only put one coat
@@tareqeg213if you don’t mind me asking , have you tried a lot of tire shine products? Because if you have I’ll take your suggestion and get the griots
I lucked out, bought a new car, saw permashine on the internet, gave it a try. My first and o lot experiment and I wound up with a very worthwhile product and experience
If you don’t mind me making a suggestion. Maybe next test, space tires out and set bottle of what was applied to its section, in the section and do a circle walk around so we can visualize the bottle/brand and what it did to the tire. Other than that, a thorough test in my opinion. 👍
Fun fact, when you clean the tire properly, use VRP, dry it, then apply tire shine, you’ll be look at a shiny tire for2 weeks and a clean looking tire after that(just not shiny). VRP works well when used properly. I live in Boston and this is with all the salt and crap in the road
Tires have waxes and oils in them. They wick all of that towards the surface through use. If they just sit, they eventually dry rot. What I'd like to see in local stores, is a wax for tires. Something that contains similarities to what tires contain, along with UV inhibitors. After taking dull, brown and grey oxidation out of tires with tire cleaner or degreaser like Purple Power, I'd like a natural finish that keeps tires from oxidation, and a product that does not attract dirt/dust. To keep the sidewalls looking like brand new. Regular 303 would be the cleanest (no gunk), but it lacks what tires need. Some kind of wax with oils in it. I remember Turtle Wax had a paste wax for paint called Ice. Maybe something something similar to that for tires.
My top is hyper dressing and all season from Megs for knobby large tires coverall but I’m detailer. What u tested is a good mix that most people can get there hands on
I use Turtle Jet Black and it lasts 3 to 4 months in Maryland weather. Unfortunately Turtle Wax no longer makes this product,☹️. If you can find it anywhere I highly recommend you buy it.
I found that petroleum or silicone based products work best for me. My wife's Range Rover came with a kit of "Land Rover" labeled car care products. In the kit was a bottle of tire dressing that smelled just like lighter fluid....the stuff was awesome and very long lasting. And to my amazement it was just as flammable as lighter fluid when sprayed at an open flame, literally igniting like WD-40. Every water based product I've ever tried fails within a day when the car is driven through a rain storm.
I don't ke putting those chemicals onto rubber. It would destroy rubber trim, so why use it on a tire. What I do like, is how good it works on plastics, especially after you wipe it on a tire, as it dissolves rubber and the result is a very waterproof plastic treatment.
I really like the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Graphene Acrylic Tire Shine Spray Coating, I have used it on my work truck and get about a month out of it or 1200 miles a month, but what I really LOVE about it is, I use this on all the plastic trim and it does an amazing job with keeping it black and a nice satin sheen.
We just used spray nine back in the day, let it soak for a few mins, wipe and spray off...it won't be shiney but it will keep the tires dark, let me know how it works for you 😮
MAJOR WARNING: If you mistakenly spray an acidic tire cleaner on your glasses , you will etch the glass, which is irreversible. Many tire cleaners are acidic.(hydrofluoric acid)
Most acids in car care products do not etch glass. Are you old enough to remember that vinegar used to come in glass bottles? Do you realize vinegar is an ingredient in many homebrew glass cleaner solutions?
@@hDibadj Sure some do but not all. Why would you be spraying it on your glass, or by glasses did you mean eyewear and it might bounce off the wheel when spraying on? If bouncing off the wheel is the issue, I might rather it landed on eyeglasses than my eyes.
I just applied permashine to my tires today. I cleaned the tires with mothers back to black tire cleaner multiple times. The tires looked like they were off the rack and high pressure rinsed them too. I applied 2 coats of permashine, very curious to see how long it lasts. It looks great. The bottle cost $25 for 8oz, but maybe used less than a half ounce on four stock tires on a 2014 lexus es350. It goes a long way....

@@ViaticalTree OMG 🤦🏻♂️ did you not read my entire comment or only see what you wanted. I said "to test". The inside of the tire doesn't see the punishment from car washing, only the elements. You have every right to your opinion but, you're making yourself look stupid.
Heh.... Sounds like your findings confirmed my anecdotal experiences over the years: they're all junk. 😆 The last one I tried, that worked better than anything, was like a $1.97 bottle of SuperTech treatment from Walmart. I believe they discontinued it some years ago. I sort of lost interest in tire shine awhile back. It just wasn't was the effort for the minimal return. Clean tires are good enough for me.
Could you PLEASE do 303 graphene tire gloss. It absolutely ruined my paint with overspray (fixed now) but I’ve washed my car about 12 times now. Decon washes with dawn , degreasers , wax and tar remover with extra attention scrubbing the tires etc. and believe it or not. The tires are still shiny.
DuraCoating and LoneStar tire coatings last extremely long. The only thing that can remove the coating is abrasion/curbing. It’s literally like applying a clear coat over the tire. The prep work is very important and tedious though.
I really liked the Street Legal Ultimate Wet Tire Shine Spray.. Didn't sling on me and looked awesome. It lasted until we had a huge storm that I drove in. The fronts still had some on, but the back wheels were done. Next carwash I just added it again.
Maguires hot shine is terrible my detailer hated me the first time because I had been using it and he kept getting black marks all over his clothes because the Maguires is a silicone based instead of water and it leaves that black crap all over your tires afterwards that leaves marks on everything lol
I just installed $880 worth of new tires on my vehicle. What I want to know is which product is going to effectively reduce UV damage from the 🌞 sun and reduce dry rot. I had been using the white 303 bottle on my old tires.
Scott HD did a test of hundreds of tire shines 2 years ago; LoneStar and DuraCoating appears to be the most durable tire coatings. There is also Renew Protect Blak which is also pretty permanent but it’s a matte finish. These three coatings require the tires to be prepped extensively. Almost like sanding and prepping a carbody for a clear coat. I’ve used all three and LoneStar has the most gloss over time. The DuraCoating is pretty glossy but starts to matte, but it doesn’t mean the coating is gone. The Blak is really matte, but it’s really good for tires that sit around exposed to the sun like RVs, trailers, golf carts etc.
I could never get any tire shine to last either so I just used the spray can stuff that Dollar Tree used to sell. I say used to sell because I haven't seen it in a few years now.
Interesting. We know that most can't maintain a glossy look for more than a few days. But the market doesn't desire that, anyway. What's more is that the better coatings maintain a tire darkening effect and hydrophobicity for weeks if not months. There are a couple here in your test that have shown that in tests done by others.
Is there a different between solvent and water based products? For example, the Chemical Guys VRP product is water based so you won't get the shine BUT isn't water based products far better to protect against sling of the products onto the car after you drive around. I have read that most solvent based products sling onto the paint around the car. Then adding to what the video mentioned that they last around 3 days makes me think the water based product should be used otherwise you get the sling of the product for not much result (longevity).
When it comes to tire shine it doesn't matter since I have my car washed often, multiple times a week where the shine doesn't need to last but for trim I'd be more concerned.
I do want my tires black and not shiny..Most of the other popular ones for wet looking tires have silicone or petroleum in them that will hurt your tires and sometimes make them turn brown..👍
turtle wax has a new ceramic product specific for trim restore... comes in a bottle you place product on a applicator pad... it is actually great and a good price...
dressings aren't supposed to pay more than the frequency of your car wash which is standard once per month! Youre going to clean the wheels and tires and redress them each wash so it doesnt matter what you choose as long as you get the shine or matte look you're going for. just do a light wipe after application to prevent sling boom. you're done. people. don't over think it. wash tires good and apply anything every wash.
My favorite one is not on this video. I've tried many of these but Chemical Guys makes a dressing that's similar to their VRP but better. I can't remember the name of it.
Try Meguiars d143 for cleaning the tire, it pulls out most of the browning very well on the first application. Another tire product is No-Touch. Works really well for all terrain tires with chunky side walls. Usually pretty cheap and lasts about 1 week for me, maybe more depending on weather.
Yes; but I don't care what it looks like; I only want UV & rubber protection, & conditioning, to make sure tyres, and rubber parts, are safe and last for as long as possible!
I do want my tires black and not shiny..Most of the other popular ones for wet looking tires have silicone or petroleum in them that will hurt your tires and sometimes make them turn brown..👍
As for the permashine product which is very costly, it has an acrylic component in the formula. Try putting anything that is acrylic on a pair of leather boots and see what happens!!! An acrylic formula will cause leather boots to crack in a heart beat and so some jackasses in the military used to apply acrylic to their boots and dress shoes and the end result is a true catastrophe!!! Personally, I would try to use baby oil which is a refined mineral oil based on a thorough used an almost spent set of tires just because I can and I'm a cheap bastard!! Furthermore, Dawn dish detergent should get tires clean along with using a rotary brush that is attached to a drill I believe should also work for the cleaning of my tires. It might take two tries to get all that road grime off and a though rinse each time but what the hell! 303 with 3 coats might do the trick. In addition to the thorough cleaning, if you were to hit these tires with 91% isopropyl percent alcohol with a wiping them down before any type of coating, well then the product that you apply just might soak in like nobody's business!
Overwhelmed for me, I'm trying to find best tire dressing, uv and rubber protector to look brand new and lasting longer. I have new car I want to make my new car look newer as possible. Help me guys?
You do know, Jeff Probst was forced by the LBQTG or whatever the F it is, to stop saying "Come on in Guys", on Survivor. You repeat that word so many times. But, good for you. Nice video.
I have used many tire shines and high gloss or wet look cheap tire shine beats all the high end tire shines so only buy cheap stuff because it's just better than the expensive stuff. All companies straight up lie about their products and it's really hard for everyone to find the best products. Idk how this is legal considering it's false advertising.
I'm glad that my vanity is not so tied up in my ride that I feel the need to try to make my tires shiny. On the other hand if you did some accelerated UV damage testing and found that tires rotted slower with a certain product(s), I would be interested in that, as long as they don't have to be reapplied more often than once a month to reap a significant benefit. Otherwise all the applications to eek out a little longer lived sidewalls wouldn't be worth the bother.
Just as a guess, how many regular sized car tires do you think one bottle of the permashine would cover? Just gauging it from a cost per application standpoint

The last one I tried, that worked better than anything, was like a $1.97 bottle of SuperTech treatment from Walmart.
Well this should answer my question if VRP is a good plastic trim restorer...i use it more as an interior dressing
Maguires hot shine is terrible my detailer hated me the first time because I had been using it and he kept getting black marks all over his clothes because the Maguires is a silicone based instead of water and it leaves that black crap all over your tires afterwards that leaves marks on everything lol
totally enjoy your auto detailing vids... very informative! thx
SudsLab tire and trim dressing is my go-to , no sling.
@@_IMNNO Thank you
I could never get any tire shine to last either so I just used the spray can stuff that Dollar Tree used to sell.
Much thanks for your time and money spent. I was wondering the same. I usually buy requires and mothers products
These companies owe you money!
You missed the Sprayway tire shine aerosol spray. Sold at Advanced
Dude...outstanding video and you laid out everything really good!
👍🏾
Don't buy the tire dressings at Costco. They sling like crazy and leave stans all over your door panels
I would like to know what you think of Armor All Tire Gel. This product is one of those that produces a glossy finish.
Great test. You may want to look into D3 restore
Thanks for the video. I was planning on buying the meguairs hybrid but I guess not. Have you tried the endurance gel ? is it better ?
turtle wax has a new ceramic product specific for trim restore... comes in a bottle you place product on a applicator pad... it is actually great and a good price...
dressings aren't supposed to pay more than the frequency of your car wash which is standard once per month!
You're after CarPro Pearl. You're welcome. :)
Wished you would have tested Cover All too
Try Meguiars d143 for cleaning the tire, it pulls out most of the browning very well on the first application. Another tire product is No-Touch. Works really well for all terrain tires with chunky side walls. Usually pretty cheap and lasts about 1 week for me, maybe more depending on weather.
Great Vid, except what does “sling” mean?
Do you have a video similar to this but for interior/dash protectant ?
Liked and Subscribed! Maybe sometime you can try the Car Guys one. Saw some good tests on it, love to see how it compares to your top pick.
Silicon based "shiners" will destroy plastics and rubbers over long periods of time. Best to use water based products such as 303
Loved seeing Ammo in there!
Back in the day we used Silicone Spray as a tire dressing.
Hello , what do you recommend a water base or silicone. Thanks
Great video brother keep up the good work.
Yes; but I don't care what it looks like; I only want UV & rubber protection, & conditioning, to make sure tyres, and rubber parts, are safe and last for as long as possible!

Great video and presentation.
So what was “this product”
At the end?
I use exoformula I love it it really last
Is Mother's brand tire dressing any good?
What ?? I been using chemical guys vrp on my tires and it last weeks!!! More than 6weeks
Same I use it on everything outside the truck
I think you should have tested coverall.
U did one or two coats for it to last 6 weeks ? The permashine
2
Great job bro
vrb chemical guys water based best tire and rubber shine out there comes off easy lasts a super long time..
As for the permashine product which is very costly, it has an acrylic component in the formula. Try putting anything that
is acrylic on a pair of leather boots and see what happens!!! An acrylic formula will cause leather boots to crack in a heart
beat and so some jackasses in the military used to apply acrylic to their boots and dress shoes and the end result is a true catastrophe!!!
Personally, I would try to use baby oil which is a refined mineral oil based on a thorough used an almost spent set of tires
just because I can and I'm a cheap bastard!! Furthermore, Dawn dish detergent should get tires clean along with using a
rotary brush that is attached to a drill I believe should also work for the cleaning of my tires. It might take two tries to get
all that road grime off and a though rinse each time but what the hell! 303 with 3 coats might do the trick. In addition to
the thorough cleaning, if you were to hit these tires with 91% isopropyl percent alcohol with a wiping them down before any
type of coating, well then the product that you apply just might soak in like nobody's business!
Overwhelmed for me, I'm trying to find best tire dressing, uv and rubber protector to look brand new and lasting longer. I have new car I want to make my new car look newer as possible. Help me guys?
Hi. For a uk viewer of the channel, what does “slinging” mean?
As you drive your car, the tire shine "slings" up and leaves black marks on your car. They wipe off, but are still slightly annoying.
You do know, Jeff Probst was forced by the LBQTG or whatever the F it is, to stop saying "Come on in Guys", on Survivor. You repeat that word so many times. But, good for you. Nice video.
Perfect video!!!!
Coverall works best for me I think.
which one has the longest for mat?
DAM... You missed us 🤔 RENEW PROTECT. We are the first with dry-seal ceramic hybrid protectants since 2007... and the one they copy 😆
why did you not include soft 99?

Cover-All is great stuff
I have used many tire shines and high gloss or wet look cheap tire shine beats all the high end tire shines so only buy cheap stuff because it's just better than the expensive stuff. All companies straight up lie about their products and it's really hard for everyone to find the best products. Idk how this is legal considering it's false advertising.
Griots garage is the best ive ever seen and longest lasting
I'm glad that my vanity is not so tied up in my ride that I feel the need to try to make my tires shiny. On the other hand if you did some accelerated UV damage testing and found that tires rotted slower with a certain product(s), I would be interested in that, as long as they don't have to be reapplied more often than once a month to reap a significant benefit. Otherwise all the applications to eek out a little longer lived sidewalls wouldn't be worth the bother.
If you want longevity why you got water based?
MIRCH - SUPER TYRE SHINE is the real winner.
Just as a guess, how many regular sized car tires do you think one bottle of the permashine would cover? Just gauging it from a cost per application standpoint
4-7 if I had to guess. The product doesn't really soak in like normal tire shine. It lays on top and dries.
I DO NOT want the longest lasting tire shine anymore after having a horrible experience trying to get some off
Carpro DarkSide!
Thank you ❤❤
