Miss that man and that mighty voice all these years later. Remember the day he died, his voice from windows around the flats where I lived. Unbloody forgettable!
No auto tune or ear piece. No light show or fire works. No ridiculous dancers and distractions on stage. Just four masters of their craft! Best to ever do it!
"I'M NOT GOING TO BE A ROCK STAR" "I'M GOING TO BE A LEGEND" - FREDDIE MERCURY He never dies because he lives in his songs and our hearts. LOVE YOU FREDDIE MERCURY ❤️ Queen is Legendary and always will be..Amazing chemistry, totally focused, very harmonized, and a lot of energy. Freddie, Brian, Roger and John, best musicians by far. Don't forget Roger's backing vocals while playing the drums. Concerts are not like that today. No lip syncing whatsoever. Pure talent. ❤️🔥
Freddy is da man, but Roger Taylor's drumming and background vocals are equally impressive. Who can do that today and LIVE without any electronic trickery? But Brian's screaming/talking lead guitar and John's musical and thumping bass lines bring it all home. Just 4 lads playing LIVE,
@@Lotse7 The front man in a rock band IS the lead singer. There was no “Boss” in Queen. There are a lot of books out there now on this subject if you’re interested.
@@Lotse7 Most people consider Freddie Mercury one of the greatest front men in rock history. A legend. That’s taking nothing away from Queen, also a legend. They made it work together.
You are so right about Roger's vocals. He was expending so much energy drumming, it was amazing that he had enough breath to sing, let alone doing it with his neck twisted for the mic. They all had superb timing and fabulous energy.
This is my favorite live Queen performance. Their musicianship had to be top notch back in the days before auto tune and other electronic gadgetry. They were always quite aware of where the others in the band were, physically and emotionally,as you see at the end when they end at the exact same second. Wonderful performance!
Wow and that’s the level every should be aspiring to. Write a hit song, sing it like no one else can, play the music to it and put on a stage performance. Incredible band and incredible front man. Probably the best front man in history. “Save me” from this concert is also brilliant. “Under pressure” and “who wants to live forever” from Wembley 86 incredible and “white queen” Hammersmith apollo as well.
Surely a band full of brilliant musicians. But beyond that...This is pure magic! It's not only Freddie, one of the greatest performers ever, everyone and everything is perfect, like i said MAGIC! That's why Queen is often is considered the greatest live-band of all times. Who can deny after watching/hearing this?
Just subbed❤Im glad you recognize Rogers amazing vocals which can be heard throughout Queens music. Freddie was the best front man ever. He is truly missed😢❤
Queen: Plays really good in a concert John: Wow..wow...I'm..I'm....outta words. I-I'm blown away for real.....what an incredible live performance this is...wow for real....just wow.....amazing, the first word that comes to mind while watching this amazing piece of history....just amazing....wow....where should I start.... Yep that's how we all felt when we watched this for the first time.
That's what Freddie does to you. I was speechless too the first time I saw this. I knew Freddie was amazing, but after this it just solidified my belief that he is the best vocalist and frontman of his time and possibly the world. Loved this reaction, not much talking but I like that best, when you can just let the music flow through you and talk about it after. Your facial expressions said a thousand words anyway, you can't not get chills when hearing this song. 😄
4 geniuses = Queen. They all have high level talent and training.....so very good live without technology or much of it in 1981. Arpeggio right off rip while tuning himself........yep.....Freddie did it all. 🎼🎶🎵🎹🎸🎤🎧😎❤️🎼🔥 Vocalist for awhile myself, the air control and use of his palette....that takes practice- he makes it look easy.🔥oh and Roger Taylor on drums.....that’s not easy either.....but there he goes making it look easy. Queen.
God I miss Freddie. His voice velvet and his connection to the audience was uncanny especially live. These guys are professional musicians doing a perfect show. Sorry young people missed out.
Such an amazing performance by the entire band and the vocals just carry it to another dimension. Brian and John are so perfect and Roger just brings it all home. What a great song, I have seen this performance at least a hundred times and still it is one of my favorite live performances.
EPIC performance by the entire band, and IMO, Freddie's all-time best live performance of Somebody to Love. 🔥❤🔥🔥 I'm forever in awe of his vocals and the abundance of talent in this band. Every live performance seems to be better than the last, and each one unique and fresh. They were just meant to be. A once in a lifetime coming together of extraordinary musicians who will forever reign at the top. Thank you for your great reaction, John!
Loved your reaction because it was honest. Queen always brought something extra to their live performances. It’s the Freddie factor - not taking away from the other band members because each one of them are supremely talented, but Freddie’s vocal range and stage presence were such that no one else could match him. Now check out White Queen live at Hammersmith and prepare to be blown away again..for real
Singers sing. Our unabashed love for Freddie comes because he wasn't performing, he LIVED the song right in front of our eyes. Thousands try to emulate him but no one will ever COPY what just flowed from him naturally.
You have to hear EXERCISE IN FREE LOVE ❤Freddie is a Genius not only that. SCIENTISTS have studied his voice. Humans have range 3.... Freddie 6 A almost the range of a piano which is 8. His throat moves 3 times faster Then other people. He had the SOUL of an ANGEL. ❤❤
I am so glad you finally reacted to this! This version makes my soul soar! Just 4 brilliant musicians doing what they do best, without backing tracks, autotune, or anything. I think the fact that most songs in their 2 hour shows had some improvisations and tiny imperfections makes each song even better. Great reaction! Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed the performance and your reaction as a musician is brilliant! If you ever want to react to another good song from this performance, Save me at Montreal is also great! 👌
The song and Freddie's performance are in the stratosphere then Brian's guitar blasts it off to another planet with Roger and John. Queen were and are an epic band.
You can always rely on these guys to “nail it”...each one a Master in his own right. So uplifting and love to see young folks like yourself reacting to this, and indeed many other songs! My advice with Queen, watch and enjoy!
RIGHT?? LOVE QUEEN ... Queen always said about their live performances (I’m gonna paraphrase here) “Sing like it’s your last performance!” All their live performances are fantastic & different even for the same song. Freddie said if you wanna here the studio version at a concert than stay home & play the record. Queen was well known for their live performances ... voted best live rock band of all time. And when Queen opens a concert their motto is “blind, deaf, & dumb the audience and you have them right where you want them”. (Something like that). Anyway, if you wanna be wowed check out their concert opener at Milton Keynes 1982 FLASH/THE HERO/WE WILL ROCK YOU and the concert opener at Wembley 1986 ONE VISION/TIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN. And, do SOMEBODY TO LOVE live at Milton Keynes same song but different (my personal favorite). 👍👑
Yess.... I agree Debra!...John, now that you have heard this and the studio version ,react to a third version of "somebody to love" at the Milton Keynes 1982 concert! It's a little different, although the video is not quite as clear but Freddie shows off his vocal range even more!.. Fantastic! I like all of them!
First outstanding vocals, just to prepare, and then "Ok, let's do it"...for real???👑👑👑👑💖💖💖💖 Amazing, outstanding, out of this world, the universe, multiverses, are not enough to describe Freddie Mercury's performance Queen are 4 super talented musicians that in a heavenly way joined and formed the best band ever!!! Period. I just wish I could have a time machine to go back then and have the privilege to see their live gigs. And since you like Elvis Presley so much, what about reacting to "Crazy little thing called love", a song that Freddie Mercury wrote to honour Elvis. Both the official video and the Live Aid version are amazing. Try them out, you won't be sorry, I promise 😎😉🤩
It was really a blessing when I twice had the opportunity to see them live in concert in Vienna, Austria - I will never forget that extraordnary performance they gave. I always liked them as a school kid. And I even love them more than ever before. I miss Freddie, his talents, accurancy and awsome melodies. This year on November 24th it is already 30 years ago since Freddie passed away. R.I.P. Your Majesty ...

Good reaction from another artist! This was about the 3rd or 4th song into the concert to get the crowd energy up. Now continue to amp it up for another 2+ hours! Back in the day that's what it took and the artists did it with talent! That's why today's kid's are reacting to the "old" stuff because the artists had talent. They could write, arrange, sing, play an instrument AND entertain! Jn my humble opinion technology killed the radio star's not television.
For a more subdued -yet still totally brilliant-Freddie performance, especially as a singer songwriter, check out his live performance of You Take My Breath Away at Hyde Park. It’s just Freddie and his piano, and it is incredible.

May I recommend to you the pre-studio version of Freddie's composition "You Take My Breath Away" performed at a free concert in London's Hyde Park (1976) before a VERY rowdy crowd? Just Freddie, his piano, and his passion. ua-cam.com/video/UBBne8R66xo/v-deo.html

i dont think most youtube viewers know how hard the drum set is to play, having to do multiple things at once. hands up for roger taylor bros
Yes. Right on.
Doing multiple things at once while singing and not even looking at the drums. The man is a beast. This is my favorite Roger Taylor performance
Freds piano skills were fantastic. Always overlooked.

It's great seeing the younger generations getting blown away by queen, I've been a fan since 1973 and still love them
I've been a fan, especially of Freddie, since 1975. Greatest frontman of all-time!
