I really appreciate what Farer is doing, their watches are nothing like any I've seen and they look great. Colorful, nice dimensions, original. Quite pricey though, at least for me.
I have a FARER on the bracelet. Its fabulous and timekeeping is second to none (forgive the pun). :). what can not be effectively told is the quality, its superb and the movements are beautiful. I have had mine for two years and it is as accurate as the day I purchased it
Thanks for doing this review! I have been waiting for one of my favorite watch UA-camrs to weigh in on Farer! Def funky and refreshing styling. The sizing of an everyday watch with the styling of a holiday time piece! 👌🏼
Farer has listed the Lander II -- they are available for sale now but will be shipping mid-July. Thanks to your video, I was able to buy mine with my desired number!
That's what I call a "beauty". Love the vintage style, round date, the bronze crown, the blue-green dial, numerals, great lume, fast change band, dome cristal, size case... the only "but" thing is the red gtm hand I would prefer another color like light green o light blue colour more in consonance with the dial one... Great great and beauty watch. Thanks for the review!
The Seiko designers should learn from this. Seiko needs a sub $1000 GMT diver under 42 mm and 13mm thick. They would sell 100.000 units the first year.
Seiko does not produce pseudo GMT's. They have quartz and Spring Drive "proper GMT's". There is no mechanical proper GMT below 3600 EUR on the market. So why should Seiko release one in the $1000 range or below? Try to compete with these wannabe GMT's?
@@otobotrecords It would be cool to see Seiko have their own movement that's the equivalent of an ETA 2893-2 GMT movement. Then, it could be applied to a SKX013 case or similar to produce a relatively affordable option.
@@markthibault8579 They could do it I guess, but I fear that's not how they roll. The ETA 2893 or its Sellita equivalent are non-functional pseudo GMT movements. A GMT needs a jumping hour that can move back and forth over the date line. And so far it seems to be either expensive to produce or needs the know-how that ETA or Sellita seem to be lacking, so the prices of those capable to do it are in the more exclusive range. I bet if Seiko ever decides to produce mechanical GMT's outside of the Grand Seiko range, those watches will not be cheaper than $3000.
@@otobotrecords While I agree that an independently-adjustable hour hand is desirable, the original Rolex GMTs worked exactly like the ETA 2893-2. So, I wouldn't necessarily call them "pseudo GMTs". It's more of an evolution. In any case, I agree that it's unlikely Seiko would bother. The thing that bothers me the most is that there is such a massive price range in various watches using the same movements. A Steinhart Ocean One GMT costs much less than this Farer and has more-or-less the same movement.
Tastefully done. Like the dial, hands and crystal. Tempting compressor that they make. Mine are old from the 60's and cost almost as much to service. Shame such low volumes, but didn't Rolex start this way before they churned them out in the thousands.
Is it me, or does the farer look way nicer than the Rolex you hold it up next to? Rolex does a great job marketing, that's for sure. They make people spend $9,000 on their watch because when people see that crown on your wrist, they will notice it. $9,000 is about $1,500 for the parts, and $7,500 for the logo.
Did you say the movement is it a 2893? anyway gorgeous watch, I really like their designs a little pricey though🤔 I think my first British design watch is going to be the Everest by smith's👍
I'd love to Mod a 007, using the Broadhead GMT hand as the second with a ceramic twenty four hour Pepsi Rolex style bezel,, spinning both ways,,, Oh and on a Jube. Even a Batman 007 GMT, Blue GMT Hand ,,,,,, Ahhhh! Can You still have the bezel click, "Both Ways," if Your bezel is Bi? Attractive GMT, unreal Bobby, Your Watch Harem is just Sick.
Love Farer's designs... seriously some of the best designs I've ever seen. And the price doesn't bother me at all. But I've stayed away from them due to the smaller designs. I think the largest they go is 40 mm. I won't buy one unless it's 42.
Great watch for the price. True you can buy a similar watch from hamilton for $500 on the grey market, but everyone has one, and the quality of the farer is miles ahead.
The watches look nice. But they are over priced by about $500 - $700. They are currently selling at +$1400 on their website. A more realistic price point would be $500-$700 total. The specs are not that great. You can buy a $200 - $400 with the exact same specs or BETTER. That means that for a few design elements your paying an extra $500 - $700. Which is obviously ridiculous. For the price point they are asking you could buy 6 orient mako usa II's AND by mod parts. Or you could do the same with the Seiko SKX line. Or you could buy 3 Hamilton Khaki Kings, or several other There are literally hundreds of different watch brands. The fact is 98% are nothing but stainless steel shells that come from china, and touched up by then resold for thousands of % markup. This is why you can buy a decent automatic watch on aliexpress for $60-$100 that is almost indistinguishable from many brands. If you want a nice luxury watch buy a Rolex. For ALL OTHER NEEDS/DESIRES buy Orient, Seiko, Hamilton, or some other cheaper brand that does not exceed $200-$500. If you don't....you are usually being ripped off. Sorry but it's true.
The first release of the Lander was sold out quickly. If they sell them for that price, the watches are obviously worth it. You cannot compare the built quality of Farer with most of these 600€ Eta equipped Chinese produced watches with no own intellectual property.
@@Michael-ot9bkWell, paying 1400$ for a Farer Lander or certain products may not be worth it for YOU, but if enough people are paying that price, then it is worth it. That's the principle of capitalism. The buyer and seller agree on a price. If prices are determined by an institution, the government or whatever, we call it planned economy.
@@veebeem953 - you completely disregarded my points and just repeated the same thing you already said. if enough people pay a 300lb black hooker $1000 for a lay does that mean she's worth it? Just because people pay for something doesn't mean it's WORTH IT. And a company selling 5, or 10 thousand units per year IS NOT A LOT. As I've pointed out that $1400 would be MUCH better spend on a Monta Atlas.
Sadly Farer has ruined this model by slapping in an almost undecorated Sellita instead of the gorgeous ETA movement in this video. They did increase power reserve by 14 hours, but at the cost of aesthetics.
This is the most aesthetically pleasing GMT I've ever seen.
Farer makes some great looking watches .

Cheers for lending the watch in. Great dimensions on this one. Case profile is nice.
Love that you reviewed one of these!

I would prefer the SKX013 size for a GMT. If that was made, I would have it immediately on order provided the movement was hacking and hand-winding.

First time I've seen a Farer watch. Love the dial and colour combinations, case. Shame its sold out.
Thanks for introducing me to a watch and brand I'm not familiar with. It's a decent looking watch but seems a bit expensive.
Looks pretty lit

They updated it to match the color of the dial, what do you think about it now?

Attractive watch. They are now in stock. Important question you didn’t cover in your review.. Would you buy one ?
Rob do you know of anyone who has done a review on the Farer Chrono-Sport? If not could you do one? Can’t find one anywhere
That’s a cool looking watch. Reminds me of Oris.
Very nice watch but not sure I’d be spending that much on a micro brand, especially when you consider what a brand like Baltic sell their watches for.
I think what we all want to know is if it's good value for the money you pay.
Very nice watch. 41mm would suit me better.

Attractive GMT, unreal Bobby, Your Watch Harem is just Sick.
There is a technique to make the bezel click bidirectional. I may try it
The crown isn't screw down, is it?
Watches & BBQ no
Reminds me a bit of my Hamilton Khaki Field.
Good looking watch, but too many other choices out there for much better prices.
Like what?
Surprisingly nice. Wish the second hand had a tad of lume, and a green color offsetting the gmt hand. But brilliant nonetheless
