    It's interviews such as this one that can really draw me to a watch company. Seeing Nicholas humbly sharing his passion and history draws me closer to the brand. And the watches themselves are very attractive. Wishing Fears all the best (and I may very well be a customer some day).

    I love the Fears watch company massively, Nicholas took time out of his busy schedule and gave a tour with myself and wife around Bristol and the history of fears. Firstly anyone that runs a business will understand that time is so precious and I can’t imagine a CEO of Swiss watch company doing this!
    Even if you are not a fan of the watches we have to admit this is a great thing for our hobby! I can’t wait to see more from Fears!

      He seems very disconnected to the brand. You can’t just go from taking one passion then to another in just 7 months and taking advise from your mother on watch brand. So many people in the watch world are breathing watches before they even to claim a brand new line of watches. The price point of these is what triggered me to comment. If Fears are 3K then Seiko have to be starting price at 100K.

      @Philippe_R 4 роки тому +1

      I somewhat disagree ☺️ You are paying for a highly customised hand finished watch. The additional man hours that goes into the finishing means that you are getting effectively a hand made product. I own and have owned brands like rolex and omega and as I get older I appreciate product made with more attention to detail

    • @Retro_Yak
      @Retro_Yak 4 роки тому +4

      @@Philippe_R maybe the case, dial, and hands are hand finished but that movement is a different story. For someone that worked at final quality control at rolex he certainly has let his standards drop for his own company. Take a look at 7:12 there is an enormous scratch across the balance shock setting. Even on a rolex with no display backing this would not be acceptable.

    That man looks like he's in his 20s, and talks like he's well in his 50s. And actually he is 30 odd years old. He kind of gives this vibe of amassing all the knowledge and heritage of previous generations. Weird, but it makes sense that they manufacture these incredible timepieces. I also like that they don't overthink the movement, it really is a nicely finished and regulated ETA, that is nothing to be embarrassed about, but also doesn't make owning and maintaining the watch super expensive.

    In terms of finish on those hands, he is miles away from like Tudor. Where is the asking price of £3,100 coming from? Like you said, there are a lot of watchmaking companies that's gonna bankrupt after the COVID-19 Pandemic. Cut the prices - make watches more affordable - learn from Chinese; Huawei, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme. Started cheap once they built some reputation they slowly increased the price. I can design watch - source ETA movement and put it together in China and ask for £2000... This is not the way IMHO... Beautifull reissue watches btw I love it.

    Stunning watches and Nicholas's passion is obvious. I would very much wear one of these BUT, I can't get past the cost either, refinished ETA or not. Whilst the hands are very nice, I think I would have been tempted to source some lower cost ones and look to put myself in direct competition with someone like ORIS. Best of luck Nicholas, you deserve it!
