How to Shoot Fashion Using LED & Flash

- Combining flash and continuous light in photography can result in some interesting images.
Urs Recher and I demonstrate a method of shooting dynamic images with a simple flash-based beauty set up and an additional continuous light.
The Beauty dish and the Softbox used in this video were both attached to broncolor Siros S which ensured a sharp look around the face of the model. Using additional honeycomb grids enabled them to direct and focus the flashes even more precisely on the model’s face.
To create a blurred dynamic effect in the hair, body, jewelry, and background, they used the continuous light of the broncolor LED F160.

One of the best videos on lighting and jewelry. Thank you Karl, Urus, and team for great content and Broncolor.
Sweet!! Glad this pop up again. Great work!!
Amazing combination of LED and Flash and reflectors and camera and reflector movement really clever stuff with some great results.
Just love these "how to" videos ..soo inspiring. Thank you for that :)
Sweet!! The sample classes are great. Love the handbag class also.
Thank you!
Dream team back at it!
Tremendously thank you
Thanks Karl and team.
hmmmm .... I guess they had fun experimenting
This video and its soundtrack, congratulations! It is very commercial, very good to sell and to promote your channel. I'm a professional photographer for many years and I still try to convince my friends to choose me to shoot their weddings instead of my nephew who has a very nice and expensive smartphone. He makes more money than me with his tips.
Nice shooting, guys. I love your videos.
Beautiful. Such masters.
You wrote "masters" in your comment. Are you a master? Would you like to be called a master? If you are humble, you will answer NO. But those people dream of fame and money. Think about it, ok? We have more urgent problems to solve in the world than giving honorary titles. We have enough masters in the world but not enough problem solvers.
Perfect
Urs is my hero
Nice horror lighting!
Led doesn't cause flickering? I hear that happens with mirrorless cameras at sports venues.
0:50 the model was expecting you to introduce her, notice the disappointment on her face
We introduced her in the earlier video on e-commerce fashion shots.
Love the concept, maybe I would have added a very light orange (sun ) gel to cover 50% of the reflecting cup/dish inside the beauty dish to even out a bit the cold tint on her face, just personal preference...
Would have been nice to see some of the finished images.
Nice job 👍
How do you decide what kind of lighting you're going to do? Is that a request from the client or your own creative liberty?
I'm a bit surprised you attach a light onto the wrong side of the c stand arm, instead of on a spigot/pin, like the Manfrotto Avenger E250 in the grip, making it a lot safer, especially when placed above a model. It even looks like it's extended the wrong way, that it won't tighten but loosen if you apply pressure on top of the lamp.
Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey as the saying goes.
The models face looks washed out?
Something like Portraiture. Her face is looking not good at the end
..."looks washed out?" My opinion is yes. Washed out of emotion, of realism, of authenticity. Commercial images, setted to be a certain way, look allways false and fake. We forgot the reasons why photography exist, why it has been invented.
I think the reason her face looks odd is because the angle of the light on her face wasnt correct, it was giving her really dark shodow lines on her cheeks. I think Karl saw that too and he even asks the guy at the end like "so youre happy with this?" as in maybe do a few more and fix the light on her face. The shadows make her look pale sick and evil looking
Carl, LED F160 uk availability? We’ve been waiting over a year since the announcement
What sort of Mirror boards are these?
Acrylic mirrors or metal sheets
@@VisualEducationStudio Thank you :)

You mean, Mix light?
OMG.
Just know color temps and you can do anything with Light.
Basic knowledge of a Pro Photographer.
Sadly lacking in today's environment of "Good Enought".
Fix it in Post.....
Yes sadly lacking in today's fix it in post, but you need to know a lot more than just kelvin to work properly with light.
I like the content and the process, it's very creative and innovative. But can't you spend a couple of seconds on introducing the model? She's just a nameless, objectified, mostly silent prop here, it feels weird. At least to me.
Is the model going to explain lighting as well?
I understand kindness but consider, she's being compensated, probably fed (I'm assuming they took more than 4 hours total this day), and I highly doubt anyone who watches this is going to say, "My God, I need Greta, from Louisa Models, for my next Harper's editorial with cover option," after watching her here...
kurt lindner I hope she was compensated. But in the video she was treated more or less like a puppet.
All I’m saying is that I felt very awkward watching a person being treated like a nameless object. Would it have affected the video if they’d taken a moment to introduce her?
I would have liked the video much more if they had. But this is just my opinion. The creators are entirely free to take it on board or disregard it...
Agreed
This is video number 2 in the series. She was introduced in video number 1.
@@VisualEducationStudio Good to know. I'm not trying to blame you, or be negative or anything, I'm just talking about the impression I got from the video. I didn't know it was a series, so I never knew her name was Nina. Here she's just "the model", with "the body", "the hair" and "the eyes". Obviously you have to decide yourself what to do, but, as I said, I would have liked the video much better if she had a voice or a name. I think this kind of stuff is important! And it really doesn't take any time or effort.
