@2:25 BINGO Sweet Pea. My plan is to keep my paid for condo in the U.S. The few bills associated with it are already set to auto-pay. My Filipina already owns our house in Talisay, free and clear. The plan is for us to fly back and forth. The U.S. in our short summer while she's on break from her public school teaching job, and Talisay when school resumes. Probably a 9:3 month ratio. As I'm much older than Mary, I expect to kick the bucket first. She'll have her home there, and my U.S. home will go to my kids to do with what they wish. Mary is set up to live a long life without me.
After I Retired in August: I gave away my Truck to my Brother. My three Laser Printers & my Binding machine to the other Brother. Distributed all the "stuff" from my parents to Family members, gave away all my heavy, oak furniture. There is one balikbayan box with my Son to ship once I have an address. I came to Cebu City Monday, with two suitcases & two laptop bags. 15 Days booked in a Hotel & 20 days worth of clothes. Next week, I look for a Condo Rental for Six Months.
In 2005, I sold EVERYTHING! Furniture, vehicles, appliances, house, everything I couldn't put in 2 suitcases, and moved to Mindanao! I had been to the Philippines years before, and had always wanted to go back. I had gotten divorced, and I loaded my new found freedom into my bags and bought a plane ticket. I'd been talking to a young lady for several months and I was on my way to meet her. To make a long story short....we've now been married 18 years and have 2 sons. We're in the states and I see it as the best decision I ever made (moving to the Philippines years ago). It's not a decision that works for everyone, but in my case... ABSOLUTELY!
I retired in April and immediately put the house up for sale. In July I had sold the house, sold my two cars and was taking a SUV full of boxes to my Sister's house I came to Thailand with two 70 pound boxes, cash and a Condo purchased in December of the previous year. All my friends in the USA said I was making a big mistake. Well 14 years later, it was the best decision I ever made.
i have been married to a pinay for 32 years ,and retired at 58 in 2019 to the province of cebu . i have not been back to usa and i don't intend to go back to visit . Only if i have too .i don't miss it . there are more products available in usa and that's the only benefit that i can think of . add to that the satanic agenda the Democrats and pals are pushing on the public . I have to pray that my daughter will be ok there ,and her 1-year-old daughter .
Three more reasons why I watch every episode of The Filipina Pea Self-Reflection and Integrity: She polishes her soul, avoiding careless hypocrisy. Integrity is her mirror, reflecting truth. Golden Rule Keeper: Others feel her kindness, for she treats them as she wishes to be treated. No double standards, no masks. A Voice of Kindness: She never humiliates, never shames. Her words are wings that lift, not weights that crush.
I visited a couple of times then when I retired I came with one shoulder bag and little cash, I have never looked back. Being content is a wonderfull feeling. Great upload miss P.
I was working for general motors in Detroit making 28 dollars an hour sitting on a forklift truck. Making as much money as i could want as a working man. But that was never my heart. I love working with kids. Helping people. Education was what I wanted to do. It was my passion. I went to Asia for an 18 day holiday. Met a Filipina teaching English in Bangkok. She talked me into moving to Thailand and pursuing my dream. It did not take much convincing. It was iny my heart to do it. I went home, sold everything. Quit my cushy 28 dollar an hour job and moved to Asia to make 1000 dollars a month living on paycheck to paycheck teaching English. And I loved every minute of it. I'm home now. In Texas. But with a lifetime of memories to live out the rest of my days with. I managed to stay single, am still single now. But if I were to ever consider marriage again, it would be with a Christian, and hopefully an Asian woman. But if that is my future, it is in God's hands to decide. God bless
@@ObolonWeener Not all that glitters is gold. LOL. She was a very sweet girl. But too jealous for my taste at the end of the day. I would have had to wear blinders the rest of my life to stay with her. It just became too much after awhile and we went separate ways.
I do plan to move to someplace more affordable in the near future. Japan or Thailand are first and second on my list. Regardless of where I choose, I'm not certain how well I could maintain my sanity without my machine shop and tools! Those and my telescopes! Yes! I'm an astronomer and love restoring older telescopes! Now THAT'S a dilemma if ever there was one! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!! Pea! You drive me crazy and make me laugh! Thank you!
Thanks, Pea. I did this and have talked with dozens of expats who have done this. Stage 1, this could be fun! Stage 2, WTF am I doing? Stage 3, I sold some things and it actually feels freeing. Stage 4, Free of the "stuff" I move to another country. Stage 5, Best decision of my life. I am not my stuff. Some do a Stage 6 where they reacquire stuff. But all agree that it's freeing to go minimal and explore the world.
But stage 6 You are aware of how it can trap you so you are Minimal and able to walk away from it all in a heart beat. Other than maybe the woman you now have haha
Im Black man in my 60s who owns my home in California USA and purchased a condo at the Azure Resort in Paranaque. Im not in the middle of preferring the Philippines vs the United States I love both. When i get tired of the States, I go to my place in the Philippines and when I get tired of the Philippines, I go back to California. 😂
I have never been materialistic. It is very liberating living as a minimalist and I did it for years. Both my sons got their inheritance already and I am finishing up. House is empty and up for sale. It was very easy for me to give the ex all the property. After 8 years we are finally finishing things up. I will be in Manila in first week of April. Final retirement 31 March. I miss renting a furnished place and having no need for doing maintenance and being tied down with possessions. Just grab the suitcase and go.
Pea, you did it again! Another great video filled with wise words said in a way that we can't help but stop, listen, and seriously consider the truth of what you said. Plus, a woman who appreciates George Carlin is definitely gold! I am fortunate that work lets me travel to the Phillipines often, and the more times I go, the more I enjoy it. Hopefully I'll be able to see and do more on my upcoming trip. Keep up the great work Pea, you are a true diamond out there!
It was the scariest thing I ever did but it was also the most liberating thing I have done I planned my retirement 6 years ago and all I had when I arrived was a backpack and a suitcase full of chocolate for my girlfriend and her family. I have been here for over a year now and love it. My happiness was worth it! Thanks for the video Pea!!
"No risk-it, no biscuit." You only live once, gentlemen. Do it smart. Seek out reliable advice. Then make it happen. Don't lock in to one plan. Have a plan B C & D.
@@ScooterOnHisWay2024most, those listening to the many foreigner vloggers here in the phillipines, are oblivious most of the risks. Careful that that biscuits not made of lemons
Great advice, Miss Pea. I've been doing the minimalist thing for the last few years. Saving + planning for retirement. Haven't decided my destination yet. I'll start scouting countries over the next few years. ✌️❤️
If you're vaxxed you probably won't are it. 3 year dealt for may, 4 year delta for some . Have you been following the "excess death rates"? Insane....10 000% in some countries. My point, don't forget to enjoy the moment. Carpe diem, for many it's unknowingly their last.
Hi Pea, I think you're correct when you say that memories are the most important things you have. It's great that we live in a digital age and can easily transport hordes of photos and videos now. Regarding your other possessions it would be best to take your time if selling rather than doing it all in a hurry if you're looking for the best price.
I'm retired, single, never married with no kids, a paid for house, car, and possessions, money in the bank with a pretty good steady income. I moved back home when I got out of the military into the house I grew up in when I was a kid that my grandfather built. I bought it in 2010 and renovated it and settled in a few years ago. I don't have hardly any friends or family left (most of my friends and family are so far away, or gone now). I just lost my dad this year and my mom isn't doing well either. When I was in the military I loved traveling around, and I spent about half of my time overseas in Japan, Korea, Hawaii, deployed, etc. I used to love doing that, but the only thing I lack these days is health and energy to try and make such a life altering decision, again. I was hoping to get home and plant, finally. I'm unsure the PH is for me because I've always pretty much kept to myself, but I'm seriously considering ditching the West and going for it. Feeling better would certainly make this an easier thing to do. Just like it used to be. Maybe one of these days? BTW: You're looking better with every video, Pea. Keep up the great work!
Just do it man, otherwise your life will fly by in front of your eyes and it'll be over. The other thing you can remember is that the Philippines is a good hub to go to other countries, so if you go there and it isn't for you, you can just hop on a plane and go to Japan, Thailand, Korea, any number of places and maybe those places would suit you better.
I totally understand you, bro, but rest assured you'll most likely feel at least 20 years younger should you decide to take that big leap of faith and make your move!
sir it appears that if you go somewhere there are other expats that you will have as many or as few friends as you wish to. its really nice to have a Filipina thats way younger than you to ask you every morning what you want for breakfast with a smile, (a very unwrinkled smile) it can actually prolong your life and improve your health, as many have found, including myself. Ive been married to my Filipina almost14 years, with very little problems. i wish i had done it 25 years earlier.
I understand but never too late. I first gave up everything and moved to China at age 58. Planned to stay until retiring but only made it 12 years before corporate politics intervened and moved back to US for 4 1/2 years. Last year built a house and moved to Philippines. What a great decision for me, but as Pea says, best to give it a test drive.
Thank you, Pea. You are without a doubt the sweetest Pea on the planet. I love the way you give excellent advice without being judgmental or too opinionated. I thank you for all the work you do to make these videos. You are not only a very beautiful lady, but such a beautiful person as well. Thank you Pea! 🙏❤️
Australian, been coming to Philippines for 25 years, 15 years ago, working in a shit job, drove to the airport, left my car on the side of the road, called my best friend ( filipina) asked her to book me a ticket, had no money, no clothes, didn't tell my family, friends, work, nothing. Now Married with 2 beautiful Girls, live in Manila, Have a great life. Thankyou Philippines.
Hi Pea., you have described how I currently live, prior to my retirement, seven years ago, I sold my house and the majority of my furniture, I moved into a two bedroom apartment, and lived there until I retired. I learned that my happiness didn’t evolve around material things, but my peace of mind, my health, being able to share time with close friends, and travel. When I sold my house and minimized my responsibilities of asset ownership, I became less burdened with debt and anxiety, I could breathe. The evolution of life has helped me define and understand myself as a person, and where my happiness lies. Thanks Pea, powerful message 😊
The only thing I can think of that I had to give up is money and time. It’s not cheap flying back and forth between our countries and it’s not a quick trip either. If you’re blessed enough to have a lot of money you can get a direct business class flight but it will still take you 12 to 18 hours depending on where you are flying from here in the U.S. If you are like the rest of us though it’s probably going to take 2 or 3 flights and take 20 to 30 hours. Oh ya the money for business flights are about $5k to $7k last time I checked with the cheaper flights being $1k to $1500. Living in a beautiful country with wonderful hospitable people including a woman who became my wife though, priceless. The money and time was a small price to pay for all the Philippines has given me in return. So if there is anyone out there who wants to make the jump, be like Nike and “just do it”. Full disclosure I don’t live in the Philippines full time. I work 9 months a year in the U.S. and live in the Philippines all winter or 3 months. Been living this way for the last 6 years and will continue it till I retire there. Good luck and watch all Peas videos before u make the trip because the info will save you everything. I wish I could have learned the easy way by watching her videos instead of the hard way. It’s all Pea’s fault for not starting her channel sooner to save me. Lol
As I got older, the idea of that long travel time back and forth to East Coast US made me realize that I didn't want to try to maintain two homes. We've been here in Philippines nearly 6 years now and the last time we went to US, was right after the pandemic. I scored business class on Emirates for less than $2k per ticket. On the flight from Manila to Dubai, we were the only 3 passengers in all business class. Only problem is now I'm really dreading that ride back in economy even more.
@@hermitbob7304 I hear you. I have never traveled in business class before and I’m a big guy so glad you got such a steal on those tickets. If I could retire today I would leave and never come back except to visit my kid on special occasions. I might feel old lol but I’m not old enough to retire yet and if they keep raising the age I probably never will get to retire.
Left Chinada August 28, 2023 due to the current state of affairs. Sold the house, cars, guns and ammo and loaded a 40' ocean container and made our way to Pangasinan. I miss home but the filipinos have been pretty good to me. I am greatful for the opportunity to start a new life working on the home, farming Bangus, rice, papaya and corn. Salamat Philippines.
@@TheFilipinaPea I am not sure if it's a dream, it is alot of work that's for sure, but a blessing to be able to start over and make a difference in a few peoples lives by providing employment opportunities and food through the farms. It emulates how the life in the west was years ago before globalization took hold. The people/community working together to produce what is needed to live a good life with limited government intervention...Maybe a dream!?
Ironically, the very first video I saw about the Philippines was yours saying NOT to move there 😂. I will be there in about 6 weeks for my first recon visit. Thank you again for all the info and wisdom you provide!
How is it that i just switched off my laptop after an hour of watching Cagayan De Oro, and i come here to youtube on my phone and here this angelic Lady tells me to take the jump... I have been doing my research for a time now and found someone special... Still young... Life is too short... Won't allow sentimental stuff make me regret my life in the end... No better time to become free than now... One life? Yes... Not gonna regret it! Hello from sunny South Africa to the world! Soon Hello from rainy Philippines to the world! 😂🎉❤ Praise God...
50 Million men from all over the world look at Pea and all want to move to the Philippines to find a Pea of their own. The advice of going there to see what it is like for a month or two is great advice. For some people it might be the heat they don't like . Granted I live in Florida but I keep my bedroom at 64 F and my house at 68 F I stay inside as much as I can when the temp outside is over 76 F. Next would be the food. I could not eat rice every day . I am a meat and Potato kind of guy and I love steaks. Beef is something I have always loved. Also I love real milk. Knowing you will be making a trip you need to see if you can live with out a lot of the things you love or enjoy. I love Pasta but not with all the sugar. I don't eat a lot of sweets but that is my choice to me it's something I don't care for. Yes I do eat some sweets but not in my foods. I think the last time I had a slice of cake was almost a year ago. Yet I love baking and bake a lot of cakes cookies brownies pies make fudge so on I just don't eat them lol. I end up giving them away. I love to cook but I only eat one meal a day sometimes I eat every other day depends on my mood.. To be fair even if you find a true love no matter how beautiful she or he is over time the things you miss will soon catch up with you. For example Pea is so beautiful most men would think if I had pea I would not need anything ells ever again. But over time the thought of that thick juicy Prime rib with Beef mushroom gravy over mashed potatoes starts making your mouth water. Thinking of that ice cold glass of fresh real milk with the meal and a side dish of fresh baked home made apple pie with French Vanilla Ice cream. Or when it is really hot out and the power is off you miss that Air Con that keeps you cool. Remember Pea has been to the U.S and she knows how our food taste. I am sure our food here in the U.S is nothing like it is in the Philippines. Last I heard a really nice Steak dinner in the Philippines is about 100 USD for one person. That would coast me 700 a week to eat there lmao.
I was sitting in my condo during the pandemic when it hit me: I can never afford to retire where I was. While browsing youtube I came across a couple expat channels and sat down and worked out the numbers. Took a year and sold as much as I could. Booked a ticket abroad and have not been back since. It was a great decision but my friends and family thought I was crazy (truthfully I did at times as well). Great choice in the end and has really changed my perspective on life.
I'm 35, so there's no way I can sell everything and retire, but I'm planning a 2 or 3 week vacation sometime early next year. If I like it there then I'd make a game plan to move there when the time comes, especially if I met a good woman who wants to work with me towards that goal. 🙏
Good stuff, Pea. I have lived out of my suitcase off and on for about 25 years doing my consulting work. I have come to like it, a lot. Shedding the detritus of the past and reveling in today is very liberating.
This was one of your best video as for the topic of moving to the Philippines. Great JOB and really enjoy the genie at the end. Sounds like the Philippines are a LOT like Costa Rica where I am currently living. Keep up the great work!
I’m a trucker and before I married a Filipina, everything I owned was in my truck. Even with a house in the Philippines 90% of everything I own is still in my truck traveling around the U.S. with me at all times. Yes I have a big truck and also yes I don’t have a lot of possessions lol.
Thanks Pea for this episode-perfectly timed for me. I've started the process of selling stuf I've collected over the years...there were a few items I haven't used since 2011. Too much junk holding me back. Time to get more serious and really double down on the selling of items I won't need in the future.
I couldn't have crystalized that statement more eloquently, "I stepped off the airplane, and I was reborn" !!! This transformation happened to me in the same profound way :) I stepped off the Airplane in Ninoy Aquino, and the warm, beautifully humid air, and in a nanosecond, It felt like some dream world I didn't want to wake up from ! Moving to Cebu 2 years ago has been akin to James Hilton's "Lost Horizon" utopia "Shangri-La"... "There is a Heaven on Earth for me, and this is it"... I had to go back to the mainland a few times to tighten up a few loose ends before permanently moving here, and every time the airplane would leave the runway at Mactan, I would start crying watching God's most precious country dissipate through the clouds below :( The wonderful stewardess at Philippine Airlines would ask me if I was ok, and had to confess, I was just merely heartbroken that I had to leave, even knowing I would be back shortly :( There's an old proverb, "There are 2 lives for everyone, and the second one starts when you realize you only have one"... I found my second life right here in "Shangri-La" :)
Pea....The best yet.....I did it moved to a new country with only $3000 usd, credit card and everything I owned hanging on my back. Thank you for all the hope and straight talk you have for the people ! You are beautiful !!!! Geoff from SW Mexico
Ive been considering the leap to the PH since I saw Pea's first video. I really appreciate the deep thoughts in this video regarding leaving an old life behind and being reborn , very insightful!
What a timely video. Just two days ago I began packing my clothes to donate to Goodwill in preparation for my move to Thailand. My next chore is to get rid of all the knick-knacks I've collected over the years, and lastly, I'll be shredding all of the junk mail and bills/correspondence that I've kept over the years. It's amazing how many things I have that I haven't seen or used or worn for years. The only thing of sentimental value I have will be old photos, which I will box up and leave with a relative. My goal is to leave with one large suitcase, one carry-on, and one backpack. I have no doubt that "declutterizing" and minimizing my possessions will be liberating.
I started this journey in 2012 married my Filipina we lived in USA 11 years built a house in 2014 on the province in cebu purchased a couple smaller homes in 2015 ,aquired cars and motorcycles then pulled the trigger sold my house and my gun collection, collector trucks, my excavation business I had for 44 years all my tools, everything I owned, and it felt good coming here completing our plan, started a store here doing great! I don't do anything but tinker in my shop,I wouldn't do it without a good plan! Lovya Pea! Another great video
Great video. Early retired combat vet wanting some where slower and peaceful. A beach too. But elderly dad can't be left on his own. So I must wait for even a site-survey trip. Someday will be that day. Thanks for the vid.
Moved from the USA to Baguio in late 2019 (just in time for the pandemic) with only two suitcases and a backpack full of clothes and some belongings. Nearly five years later, I own a condo here, got my SRRV visa and plan to stay for the duration. The Phils aren't perfect (what country is?) and my ongoing cultural transition has had its bumps and bruises, but it was the right move for me. No turning back.
💯 This one was great. Hit home. 🎯 Speaking of home: I've liquidated it all and traded it in for the warmth and sunshine for the rest of my life with a backpack in SouthEast Asia. 🌴 Big like 👍
🎉 definitely contemplating the future. There were three times in my life where I walked away from everything… didn’t have to …I chose to. There is a story behind each one. It is liberating to reset. A whole house in a storage container auctioned out is about $1200. With that in mind, I can’t believe storage facilities charging $100 a month are in business. But it’s good business.. My end plan is to have multiple passports and multiple places around the world. Good job hardworking Pea…. Another thought-provoking and informative video.
Great video Pea. I am in the process of getting rid of just about everything before heading overseas at the end of the year. This has been the hardest and most stressful part of making this move.
Hi Pea! Great topic and advice for those who want start over in the PI. We have way to much stuff in the WEST for sure. Throw it away if you don't have any feelings for it anymore. See you Friday!
Fantastic video Pea! Definitely something to think about and be completely sure about ! Could i do it ? I'm not sure ..yet . Appreciate you always ! Have a wonderful week ! Goodnight! 😊💝🙏
TThis video couldn't have come at a better time for me. I’m feeling ready to start living my life again-closing one door and opening another. Well said, Pea. It reminds me of the Australian coat of arms with the Kangaroo and Emu-you can’t go backwards. It’s time to pull up anchor and burn the ships to move forward.
The Philippines are looming large on my radar, in a large part due to your videos. Hope to make the initial visit next year and go from there. Thank you for your continued great info!
Don't fly into Manila and think that's what the entire nation is like. Get out of there and go visit a variety of places. You can find some lovely ladies who are tour guides or you can do some internet searching on your own. Unless you are just intent on living in a major city, then you'll need to go out to the less travelled areas.

Even if you don't plan on moving to another country, minimizing your lifestyle is liberating and peaceful.
This is such an empathic commentary on a real dilemma that many face. Thanks for your creativity, thoughtfulness, humaneness.
You never disappoint, Miss Pea. Thank you for all the work you do.
Brilliant! You are wise beyond your years, dear Pea!
You're the best. Clear and concise opinion about the topic. Live long and prosper !
God bless
Where is the filipina?🌶🍒
@@ObolonWeener Not all that glitters is gold. LOL. She was a very sweet girl. But too jealous for my taste at the end of the day. I would have had to wear blinders the rest of my life to stay with her. It just became too much after awhile and we went separate ways.

I am amazed that you can keep thinking up new topics!
Thanks William - and I have 211 more, currently🤣
This is a great topic. 🎯Because this is what I have been thinking about for the last couple of years.
Goodnight Pea, take care and God bless you 🙏 🙂😊❤
Hi Little Pea, great video. The things I would miss most is my tools all sorts of tools. Keep up the good work. 😊
Life should be exactly that fun… cheers to all that have the stones to live free!
Stage 7..your Pinay wife passes away. Her family is all over you constantly asking for money. I came home and have no desire to return.
I'm a young man in my 30 and I feel the same way. Why would I pick 1 when I can have both 😆
I love every minute over there. Its far from perfect but i like the simplicity.
Exactly!! Best of luck 🍀❤️
It was the scariest thing I ever did but it was also the most liberating thing I have done
I planned my retirement 6 years ago and all I had when I arrived was a backpack and a suitcase full of chocolate for my girlfriend and her family. I have been here for over a year now and love it. My happiness was worth it!
Thanks for the video Pea!!

Hi Pea, I think you're correct when you say that memories are the most important things you have. It's great that we live in a digital age and can easily transport hordes of photos and videos now. Regarding your other possessions it would be best to take your time if selling rather than doing it all in a hurry if you're looking for the best price.
Memories fade in time with distance and vanish completely perfect dementia sets in...
Pea good advice! One never knows until you experience a place in person. George Carlin is one of my heroes. I still quote him all the time.
All really good information Pea! You can always get new stuff in the Philippines. 😁👍
Amazing Genie you are by the way!!! 💕
Keep this motivation up and you guys will have me on a plane tomorrow
sir it appears that if you go somewhere there are other expats that you will have as many or as few friends as you wish to. its really nice to have a Filipina thats way younger than you to ask you every morning what you want for breakfast with a smile, (a very unwrinkled smile) it can actually prolong your life and improve your health, as many have found, including myself.
Thank you for making and sharing your videos Pea!!! Best wishes to you and your family!!

@@neilasd3043 I teach online make 900 us a month, so yes you can, plus I have a side business.
I might feel old lol but I’m not old enough to retire yet and if they keep raising the age I probably never will get to retire.
thanks for the reminder to lighten my life from to much stuff, you are the kind of woman a man need in his life.🙏

😂

You really do a great job of setting things straight.
There is no 'one of these days'. Only today.
Do you’ve already been through this! Scary, huh 😳👍👍❤️
All it takes is:
Planning skills
Balls
I'm 35, so there's no way I can sell everything and retire, but I'm planning a 2 or 3 week vacation sometime early next year. If I like it there then I'd make a game plan to move there when the time comes, especially if I met a good woman who wants to work with me towards that goal. 🙏

This transformation happened to me in the same profound way :)
I stepped off the Airplane in Ninoy Aquino, and the warm, beautifully humid air, and in a nanosecond, It felt like some dream world I didn't want to wake up from !
Moving to Cebu 2 years ago has been akin to James Hilton's "Lost Horizon" utopia "Shangri-La"... "There is a Heaven on Earth for me, and this is it"...
I had to go back to the mainland a few times to tighten up a few loose ends before permanently moving here, and every time the airplane would leave the runway at Mactan, I would start crying watching God's most precious country dissipate through the clouds below :(
The wonderful stewardess at Philippine Airlines would ask me if I was ok, and had to confess, I was just merely heartbroken that I had to leave, even knowing I would be back shortly :(
There's an old proverb, "There are 2 lives for everyone, and the second one starts when you realize you only have one"...
I found my second life right here in "Shangri-La" :)
