Sorry to hear of your delay in coming to The Philippines. You really don’t need a ton of money to come here. Stop giving your money away to family. Try coming for a month or two first. Wet the feet. You know you can stay for 3 years without leaving the country. Just go to immigration according to their schedule each month or two for your updated visa. Pay the fees as required. Many apartments are available for you from $100.00, depending on the area. Cebu is good and lower costs. Try Korean air from major cities for a 2 ride trip, directly to Cebu-Mactan International Airport. Immigration and customs are 24 hours a day. Get the one year with return back to the USA. Zero to a small change fee on dates. I’ve stayed in the same booking class, with changes, and no fees several times. (could be changing) I’m 70 this year and been coming here from 2001. Good luck!
Great interview! I love his honesty about how he tells the girls that he doesn't want to get married and not to drape themselves all over him. If a relationship is going to go anywhere there has to be honesty above all. Congratulations on 190k subscribers Pea! Nobody deserves the success more than you!!!
Filipina pea is an expert on North American culture. Impressive. That makes for a great interview. E.g., most American people her age don’t know what the Twilight Zone was, hence Paul’s surprise that The Pea knew. She is consistently impressive like that, I’ve noticed. She’s clearly made a study 📖 of American 🇺🇸 culture for a while now. She’s mastered it really.
This should be pinned on the Internet as the best interview showcasing the best cultural exchange and conversation which cuts out all stigma and is a great preponent for equal freedom. What a great showcase of the true values that the ignorant should understand and respect. Thanks for sharing this and all the hard work putting it together.
@The Filipina Pea I can't understand why anyone would complain about you sweet pea, you post great information and helpful advice l. There should be more girls like yourself in this world. You are a diamond amongst alot of rocks
@dabugow While you certainly have a right to your opinion, so far all I’ve heard you do is insult the man’s looks (hair, arms, and shirt), but what has he said that makes him a clown? I would think that if he said something incorrect, that would be what you would focus on, instead of his appearance 😳
@@TheFilipinaPeaI love your videos keep doing it the same way. I would be very interested if you could interview someone that lives on a sailboat in the Philippines. This is what I would love to do since I have been living on a sailboat for the past year in Connecticut USA. I have questions like is it cheaper to buy a catamaran sailboat in the Philippines? Is it relatively safe to sail around the islands and how much would it cost to rent a slip in the Philippines? Thanks sweet pea
Paul knows what he likes and wants. He has been around and it seems like he is a reflecting guy worth listening to. I agree with most of his values, especially about equality and women. Thank you for sharing. ❤
This is a great interview. The Philippines is a place where you can be yourself. Relax, chill, live a great & peaceful life. I live near the beach and do my own thing. I usually go for walks, see the sunset, and spend evenings watching UA-cam. A lot of great vloggers here.
I have lived in the Philippines for more than 13 years, over 8 years in Dumaguete where this interview was held, never met Pea yet but would love to have a chat about my experience there. I am married to a beautiful filipina, I could never have had this kind of retirement back in the UK. I feel safer here than the UK, the people are great, never had an issue with the locals, just be polite and good mannered and you will have on problem. On the other hand, there are foreigners here that tend to give the rest of us a bad name, mostly due to alcohol intake...
Wow! I just recently retired and moved from California to Nevada, but now after watching your videos and listening to Paul I want to live my life in the Philippines and be chill and relaxed like Paul. BTW I don't think you are average you are very beautiful and like Paul said your personality makes you top notch!
This guy has it figured out. I think his positivity and good intent are what really makes his life there so enjoyable. How many guys would love to step into his life?
Paul represented the best of western expat attitudes and philosophies here and they seemed to have served him well adapting to the best life a retired guy can have and be to his fellow Philippinos. Great interview subject we all can learn from.
Ha, ha. Funny stuff at times. And another great interview. Paul seems very natural and unconcerned about other people's negative opinions. Live and let live.
@@TheFilipinaPea I think that you are quite right about that! I’m on my way back, asap! It’s been 8 years since I first discovered Dumaguete and it’s still a likely candidate for where I’ll settle down. Can’t wait to stroll the boardwalk again 😃👍 See you on Patreon in the meantime ….
Wow Pea, that turquoise dress looks awesome on you, and Paul was a great interview. Best I have ever seen on any of the other channels, very thought provoking, really pro Philippines and great attitude for his retirement. Such a positive person, everything was basically whatever you want your life to be it can be, you choose, and you do you, no judgement from Paul. Thanks for bringing him to us.
Excellent interview with Paul, love the energy. Nice to hear a different prospective on dating and setting boundaries, if you're not looking to marry. I never considered having two apartments when I retire in the Philippines, thanks to Paul that's a option to consider if I can afford it. Great work Pea.
Hi Aaron, I was here part time in Cebu and Bohol from 2001 to 2015. From 2016, it’s mostly full time. Rents are very low. You can find some great rental deals everywhere. I came across some land in 2008. We did a long term deal and I have a cabin that was built specially for me. The cabin is for storage or I can live there. I also have an apartment in the city, where I stay most of the time. The units are on 2 different islands. The cabin would be great as a backup place for like an earthquake. Take your time on building anything as rental land. I love it here, and have no plans on ever living back in the USA. Good luck
Great interview Pea. Paul has found the lifestyle that suits him. I'd love to see his apartments that cost only $100. He's right about what my friends and family who have never visited the Philippines think is the reason I'm going to the Philippines, to only to be with young women. I think a lot of older men really want a connection. I thought he looked a little like a young Ronald Regan too.
Hello Miss "pea". I'm a retired postal worker living in the states and found Paul's comments interesting. I just recently discovered your channel and have been viewing your videos and find them entertaining. Very clever pop culture references from the 80's at the end. You had me fooled with the "Bikini top" video. You look great!
Hello 👋, I'm so glad you decided to bring back Paul for a encore interview . He has the perfect attitude and philosophy to enjoy expat life in the Phillipines. I mean come on ,what's the rush in finding a partner ? Enjoy all the Phillipines has to offer, the beaches ⛱ food, beauty, culture and exploration. When searching for food , do you climb the first tree you see when entering the forest ? Of course not ! There is a process and a education of your environment that needs to take place before you jump in both feet.... Btw ,I think you're more that just an average looking Filipina 😉, you're very ( Enchanting ) on several levels.
Paul is a hoot! Pea, your interview skills, intellect, creativity and good nature continue to provide us with great content. Thank you! Now lets get you to the 200K subscribers mark and beyond! I am so glad to see your growth. Peace
I just got back from the Philippines for the first time. I would like to live there if Vietnam doesn't work out. I was in Happyland by Caloocan and people were so friendly. I think they were happy to see a foreigner. It was very poor. I bought many of the kids candy. They were shocked at how tall I was since I'm 190cm
Great interview as always Miss Pea. This guy is definitely living the dream. The years I spent in the Philippines were the best of my life. I like him have been all over east Asia and my favorite is the Philippines.
@@TheFilipinaPea I like corned beef hash and tuna melts and pickled eggs. No Problemo. My biggest gripe is a lack of good quality coffee. Used to be just as bad in Thailand until the Thai government decided to subsidize poor farmers to grow coffee about 30 years ago. Volcanic soil is great for growing coffee.
Great interview with Paul, Pea. He has his head on right and is living the life that many of us retirees dream about. I plan to visit the Philippines myself and see the place for myself. Unlike Paul, I am a widower, a retiree in my 60’s and in very good physical shape. I have no plans to marry again but the low cost living and the friendliness of the Filipino people is a great attraction. Thanks again for another great video! Great work!
Great interview. One of my friends went to visit Japan. Then when he got back he was thinking of moving over there. Then a year later he moved to Japan. He absolutely loves it there. He says he will never return to the states again. I don't blame him one bit.
@@TheFilipinaPea Japan is actually quite a bit cheaper than it was 40 years ago Pea. I remember spending $15 for a cup of instant coffee and a small plate of fried chicken and rice. Everything was sky high back then, the Japanese literally owned half of all the commercial real estate in Southern California. Then their own real estate bubble popped, and it's been getting cheaper over there for Americans ever since. A lot of Okinawa is almost as cheap as the Philippines. You ever spent any time in Japan Pea ? Do you have any Japanese friends ?
Japan will let you apprentice. Work if your not at retirement and love it. You don’t have to be rich to be there. If they opened up earlier I would already have gone.
Paul is such a great guy to interview. He is knowledgeable and respectful of the culture. I hope all Americans use Paul as an example of how to act in a different country.
You got a great interview with Paul. He seems like a nice guy who loves to talk & shares an interesting perspective. It doesn't hurt that you're the best interviewer on UA-cam. Thanks again for another super video.
@@TheFilipinaPea don't take what I said about him the wrong way. You are the best vlogger in the Philippines. I'm just saying his personality may help with the process. It's like bowling with a coconut and then finding a polished bowling ball. It makes your game better
What a great interview. The jeepney nose bit lol! Totally agree with all he said. I've been here on and off for 7 years and live in province and have seen it all. Good and the bad. Wouldn't change a thing. Love the Philippines 🇵🇭
I respect Paul’s approach. Very clear about what he seeks. Not wanting a subservient ‘maid’ for a partner. Not wanting to marry. Not somebody too young. I’m very similar. Honest approach. Straight up front
I spent some years in the US NAVY in the far east, during the 90s. The P I was one of my favorite places. I love the culture, and the people. Just a wonderful place.
This is the kind of interview I like. Great people with time in the Philippines under their belt, and more towards a big portion (if not the biggest) of your channel's demographic. Great interview Pea.
@TheFilipinaPea this video has so far been the best I've seen about life in the Philippines for a foreigner. I'm 53 and recently started online dating a young lady from Mindanao. I have family who have married Filipina from Cebu, Manilla and Urdanetta. They have all warned me about Mindanao, telling me not to do. Thank you so much for doing what you're doing. I'm basically power watching your videos in preparation for my visit to my GF later the fall. You are helping me more than I can express. Thank you again.
I'm happy you interviewed someone that thinks similar to me. I'm 60, don't want to get married. Girlfriend between the age of 30 to 45. No living together just travel and enjoy each other's company. People change and if one party isn't happy then their's no trouble to leave. Marriage is the number one cause of divorce.
I have a friend that went on a mission to the Philippines and he said he would love to go back. Now I'm trying to get him and his wife to move there with me. I like that the Philippines has a deep rich culture that I want to learn about as well as the people. Not to mention I would love to find a good wife. I loved being married, just hated who I was married to.
Really enjoyed this interview, Pea, illuminating retired American expat and long-term PI resident Paul's impressions of the Philippines. Being easy-going and adaptable are obviously beneficial attributes for foreigners to have when contemplating long-term residency in the PI.
I couldn't believe Paul was on your vlog. I happened to meet Paul in a Coffee shop in Taylors Falls Minnesota on Wisconsin border in July of 2020. He told me how wonderful the Philippines were. Because of what he told me I went to the Philippines too and love it there. I have been to Dumaguete too . I am in the USA for a few months hope to be back in July 2023. I hope to run into Paul again maybe at Ground 0 coffee shop.
It’s for real. I’m into 21 years here in The Philippines. Part time till 2015. Then full time from 2016. You will live a better and safer life here. Good luck!
Philippine culture. I have just discovered your channel. I am planning on settling down in Southeast Asia somewhere there. I never thought the Philippines to be placed for me; however, after reviewing some of your videos, I think the Philippines might be a great place to settle.
I've really learned (or been reminded anyway) by your last few interviews, how so much happiness can come from not judging other people's choices and being less judgemental of one's own preferences and decisions. You are the best. Thanks Pea.
I must admit ,his a real character 🤣👍🏻 i enjoyed todays interview and ibhope to see him back for a video mashup video. I do agree with him with the age range of a Filipina and things that he said, my fiance filipina we are in our mid-40s already and its been 7 years that i meet her. By this time she will be able to write a book on her adventures 🤣 on the things that's happening to her and ourrelationship 🤣😭👍🏻😂🇵🇭🇵🇷🏆
Hi Pea, I like how honest you are about life in the Philippines and what it is like living with a filipino woman, also your sense of humour is great. That was a great interview with Paul, and he is right on the money with about being honest with what you want in a partner, and letting them know where you stand. Thank you for these videos that you post, they give great insight into living in the Philippines.
I’m glad you brought him back on the channel.. I liked his prospective of the Philippines in your last video. I plan on moving there soon so now I’m learning Tagalog and cebuano (even though I don’t need it but I love learning languages)
I'm 66 years old living in Las Vegas Nevada,I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your enter view, very professional and informative, and definitely entertaining,God bless
Thank you for creating this amazing video because it really helps communicate to foreigners the inside perspective of what it would be like to make a serious commitment to retire in the Philippines from someone who can share and provide us with an honest truthful perspective about the good the bad and the ugly of living long term in this region of the world. My favorite part was the candid raw unvarnished unfiltered truth to learn about the different island locations, people, culture and food which is top of mind importance to us foreigners because it’s a real genuine concern before making the leap of faith to travel and visit you on vacation. If possible please ask Paul if he would be willing to do another interview again in the future. You ask amazing questions and your humor is incredible. Hopefully one day I will be lucky enough to meet you in person pea! ❤😊🎉

Thank you for another Great interview! Videos like these are what motivate me to work 6 days a week and diet/exercise. Just knowing there's a traditional woman in the Philippines that's willing to start a family with me keeps my spirits high.
The interview was informative because filipina pea is awesome, good-looking, knowledgeable and has a dynamic personality which contributes greatly to the interview process. Continue with your great success. And here is your thumbs up 👍
Great segment Pea. Paul's frank, candid perspectives on meeting and engaging life should serve as a useful gauge in navigating the Philippines and its amenities. Even should you not agree with or desire to take a similar path, Paul offered some wonderful jewels on lasting and wanting to last abroad outside of one's circle of origin. Great find Pea, stay blessed my friend.
Marriage in the USA to an American girl has been really good for me (and hopefully her). I think the key to staying married is an underlying culture of staying married, looking at your shortcomings, children, and shared values(for most of us, that's children). I'm trying to get my wife to spend our US winters in the Phils! As for "not inviting the government into your life/Marriage", I don't think it's as simple as some people talk about it.

That tree behind them must be 300 years old
Filipina pea is an expert on North American culture.
More like a North American bf.
Thanks so much, Peter!
I wish everyone felt that way, but some people just want to complain about my interviewees (and me too) 🤣👍
@The Filipina Pea I can't understand why anyone would complain about you sweet pea, you post great information and helpful advice l. There should be more girls like yourself in this world. You are a diamond amongst alot of rocks
@dabugow
While you certainly have a right to your opinion, so far all I’ve heard you do is insult the man’s looks (hair, arms, and shirt), but what has he said that makes him a clown?
I would think that if he said something incorrect, that would be what you would focus on, instead of his appearance 😳
YES!
I watch a lot of videos, and this is one of the best in terms of honesty and modesty.
Thank you 😊 🙏 💓
@@TheFilipinaPeaI love your videos keep doing it the same way.
May I ask why they need $1,000 a month? I would think an apartment for $100, you could pay the other bills for maybe $300?
@@ClearAdventurebecause you don't want to just live you want to have fun that's why he said 1000 a month if you visit
What an awesome interview. Paul's a positive, likeable, moral man. I hope he is willing to do more interviews going fwd.
Moving from Cali was the right call. It's crumbling from the crazies. Check out both Phillpines and Malaysia too. Both speak good English.
I really like this guy. He knows what he wants and let's you know it. If I went to the Philippines I'd love to hang out with this guy.
Ron Reagan sighting in duma. Excellent video. Open, honest, genuine, and funny. He is full of energy, happy, and full of positive vibes.
👍👍👍👍🤣🤣🤣
This guy has it figured out. I think his positivity and good intent are what really makes his life there so enjoyable. How many guys would love to step into his life?
This guy is a legend...he has everything a guy want...peace and a good life :)
Stay safe & take care Paul
Thanks for the great interview Pea :)
That’s exactly right - the happiest people are the ones that don’t care what others say 👍
Probably your best interview ever! Paul knows exactly what he’s doing! I would answer almost every single question in almost the exact same way.
#metoo
*Crap Game*
Then come diving here, and meet Paul - you’d probably be friends 👍😊
Thank you, Paul! and, of course, the Pea for making him available to all
Cool! You were 100% correct.....I really enjoyed this episode. PS....nice outfit!
Paul seems to be straightforward and on the level!
As far as I can tell, yes 👍😊
Love this interview pea… Paul is very talkative and pleasant..lol 😅 this dude is living the life ❤
Indeed he is 👍🤣
Ok. So, now I understand HOW this guy is able to have the time of his life in the PH! Thanks Pea!
🤣🤣🤣👍
Yeah, Paul. Tell it. I agree. Marriage is a trip, but I am married to a wonderful Filipino woman. I love my wife very much. I love the Philippines.
Paul is a great guy. He has a great plan. Paul is also very honest about his intentions. I have nothing but respect!!
Excellent interview with Paul, love the energy. Nice to hear a different prospective on dating and setting boundaries, if you're not looking to marry. I never considered having two apartments when I retire in the Philippines, thanks to Paul that's a option to consider if I can afford it. Great work Pea.
Thanks Aaron! I liked this interview too 👍😊
Hi Aaron,
I was here part time in Cebu and Bohol from 2001 to 2015.
What a great perspective! That is a guy that "gets it"! Good Luck Paul!
Paul did a great job! and I really enjoyed it, thanks a bunch!.
This guy has a great attitude and perspective on things. Great reporting Pea.
Thanks CC! As I’m writing this, I’m also drinking a cherry Coke 🤣
Are you going to come here and climb a lot of our trees, Antionious? 🤣🤣🤣
@@TheFilipinaPea I will come there with a great appetite for adventure ,seeking and hopefully finding the most "Enchanting " tree to climb 💕
Paul is a hoot! Pea, your interview skills, intellect, creativity and good nature continue to provide us with great content. Thank you! Now lets get you to the 200K subscribers mark and beyond! I am so glad to see your growth. Peace
This was your best!~
Pea & Paul are right on point. They make a great team! More of this please 😊.
You would be a GIANT in their eyes 🤣👍❤️
Great interview as always Miss Pea. This guy is definitely living the dream. The years I spent in the Philippines were the best of my life. I like him have been all over east Asia and my favorite is the Philippines.
Is it because of the people? (because it sure isn’t the food) 🤣
@@Dana-ie2bh I couldn't agree more about the coffee. In the last ten years most of the coffee beans I've gotten are from the Aloha State.
Great work!
Are you saying Paul isn't in good physical shape?
@@mikeh9956 Not at all. I never implied any such notion.
@@mikeh9956 He was taking about divorced vs widowed.
This guy is my hero!!!
I 100% agree with Paul! He knows the lay of the land very well.
I love living in the Philippines...
Great interview. One of my friends went to visit Japan. Then when he got back he was thinking of moving over there. Then a year later he moved to Japan. He absolutely loves it there. He says he will never return to the states again. I don't blame him one bit.
He must have a lot of $$$
@@TheFilipinaPea Japan is actually quite a bit cheaper than it was 40 years ago Pea.
Thanks so much Pea. I asked for this and you delivered. This is an awesome interview with a great guy who knows what he is talking about.
I’ll always try to give you what you ask for, as long as I don’t break any laws doing it 🤣🤣🤣
I like this guy's attitude and personality
Yes, me too - he didn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all 👍😊
too Awesome ! ! ! keep up the good work Sweet-Pea : )
Thanks Murph! It does make my job easier when a guest likes to talk 🤣👍
That was a great interview, frank, humour, and without pretence. More more.
Glad you approve, Andrew ❤️👍😊
I respect Paul’s approach. Very clear about what he seeks. Not wanting a subservient ‘maid’ for a partner. Not wanting to marry. Not somebody too young. I’m very similar. Honest approach. Straight up front
That’s nice that he is not looking for a subservient woman !
That was great. He is delightfully self expressed.
What Paul said was interesting. What he didn't say is even more, I'm sure...
Best wishes to you Paul...
Oh I’m sure we could do a part 2 🤣👍
I spent some years in the US NAVY in the far east, during the 90s. The P I was one of my favorite places. I love the culture, and the people. Just a wonderful place.
This is the kind of interview I like. Great people with time in the Philippines under their belt, and more towards a big portion (if not the biggest) of your channel's demographic. Great interview Pea.
Yes, it’s the biggest demographic 🤣👍
It makes all the difference in the world, yup 👍😊
lol... faucets that don't drip are out there... best wishes to you...
You should have told your friend to go on mission trip to the US where it is needed more.
Paul is drowning in hair dye.
How could someone hate who they are married too? Trying to convince others to go with you? 🛑 You need to solve that those issues first!
Really enjoyed this interview, Pea, illuminating retired American expat and long-term PI resident Paul's impressions of the Philippines. Being easy-going and adaptable are obviously beneficial attributes for foreigners to have when contemplating long-term residency in the PI.
Yes! Adaptability is key here 👍😊
Salute to Paul. I hope he has found or finds what he’s looking for ☺️
Maybe he has, right pea 🤔 😳 😉
I couldn't believe Paul was on your vlog. I happened to meet Paul in a Coffee shop in Taylors Falls Minnesota on Wisconsin border in July of 2020. He told me how wonderful the Philippines were. Because of what he told me I went to the Philippines too and love it there. I have been to Dumaguete too . I am in the USA for a few months hope to be back in July 2023. I hope to run into Paul again maybe at Ground 0 coffee shop.
What an incredibly small world! That’s amazing 😂😂😂👍
Makes me feel proud of a fellow countryman.
Amazing interview Pea! ❤ Paul spoke from the top of his head without hardly a pause. A lot of what he said made sense but easier said than done 😂
I’m so happy you found me, HS!
And yes, I really tell it like it is - the good, the bad, and the ugly 👍❤️
I've really learned (or been reminded anyway) by your last few interviews, how so much happiness can come from not judging other people's choices and being less judgemental of one's own preferences and decisions. You are the best. Thanks Pea.
Thanks Louis! 👍👍
Thanks Pea...Paul was a wonderful person to talk to and he had some good advice for the ex-pats on their way to the Philippines....
Yes, he’s an original 🤣👍
Hi Pea, I like how honest you are about life in the Philippines and what it is like living with a filipino woman, also your sense of humour is great. That was a great interview with Paul, and he is right on the money with about being honest with what you want in a partner, and letting them know where you stand. Thank you for these videos that you post, they give great insight into living in the Philippines.
Thanks so much for that, Wildman 👍❤️
I’m glad you brought him back on the channel.. I liked his prospective of the Philippines in your last video. I plan on moving there soon so now I’m learning Tagalog and cebuano (even though I don’t need it but I love learning languages)
I'm 66 years old living in Las Vegas Nevada,I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your enter view, very professional and informative, and definitely entertaining,God bless
This guy is so honest and i love it, i want to retire there and i love this show, keep up the good work
I enjoyed your talk with Paul. Very educating as well. Great job
Paul had me laughing throughout this interview! What a great attitude and philosophy of life. Thoroughly enjoyed this content, thanks for reinforcing my views on a potential life in the Philippines. Bring us more like this, Pea!
❤❤❤❤❤2nd Time Watched,❤❤❤❤❤,Pauls A Blast🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Probably your best interview with a foreigner EVER! Like Mr. Paul, he should have his own UA-cam channel! LOL WELL DONE Ms. Pea 5+ STARS
PS, you not NOT average looking you are GORGEOUS Ms. Pea! ;)
PSS OK that scene from Fast Times is my ALL TIME favorite EVERYTHING, thanks for bring back the mamaries, oooops I meant memories!
A guy with common sense for a change.
👍👍👍
Thank you for another Great interview! Videos like these are what motivate me to work 6 days a week and diet/exercise. Just knowing there's a traditional woman in the Philippines that's willing to start a family with me keeps my spirits high.
Interesting insights, FP! Thanks much for showcasing the culture, womenfolk, beauty, customs, traditions, etc., etc. of the Philippines!
You should encourage Paul to start a UA-cam blog where other Americans that have questions can be answered.
Thanks for the videos, I love the outros.
OMG, thank you so much for this interview Pea! I loved his honest answers in the previous video you but didn't expect a further interview.
Best Pea Video Ever. Paul's the real deal. Cheerz to you, Ms. Pea for doing this episode. Loved it. 🍻
Great episode. Paul has really mastered life. Livin the dream due to all the good Karma he's been collecting along the way. ❤
