Beauty In The Ashes - Cortia on how she overcame childhood trauma after enduring 30 days of beatings

  • Cortia Bingham-McKenzie shares her unfortunate reality of receiving 30 days of beatings from her father as a child. Having endured so much trauma, one would expect a totally different character than who Cortia is; however she has interrupted the negative experience and thought process using her faith and trusting the word of God, declaring that despite ALL she knows she is fearfully and wonderfully made. Cortia is a walking-living-breathing example of finding Beauty In The Ashes!

A lot of mental health “medicine” is needed in Jamaica. Hurting your own child is a deep psychological sickness. We need to have a hug your children campaign in Jamaica. Men who abuse were abused themselves. May the Lord continue to bless and keep her. She is a gentle spirit. Sorry she had to endure such torture.

Great works Yendi !!!! As a jamaican we Grew up under extreme circumstances due to poverty and ignorance
We lived in a culture that glorifies negativities and double standards we talk the talk but hardly walk the walk if we are not prepared to reprogram the negatives in all our lives then the saga continues a vicious circles. Bless up Yendi !! Your topics always brings emotions and tears!! All the best. Psychological warfare, mind sets and ignorance is killing us , we all have a wonderful brain let's all use it positively

My tissue box finished... these experiences... you are ‘... fearfully and wonderfully made...’ Cortia. It really is comforting to see women who are able to walk away from these toxic relationships.... people deserve better.
