I guess it because you know some people grow out of joy of watching cartoons. I know I have. That's the fun thing about "Top 10" channels! The creator can just do a top 10 list of whatever they find to be interesting, so they're incredibly versatile channels!
Weird, yes, but the gas mask game boy thing is actually brilliant. Surgery is a terrifying concept for adults, but for children it’s a literal nightmare. Letting them play their favorite video game as they’re slowly sedated keeps them calm and collected. I really like that idea.
I had surgery for the first time earlier this month, and I fell asleep before they even gave me any gaseous anaesthetic XD They gave me a few pills to take before wheeling me away and I think one of them might have been for sleep. I struggled to get up onto the surgery table I was so sleepy
I hope Josh doesn't stop doing cartoon and movie reviews completely. I'd love to see him remake the lists for worst and best animated movies of all time, worst and best modern cartoons, or even another cheery sponge bob video! Its not that I dislike his new content, I'm just a sucker for the good old cartoon reviewing days.
Plus even after 7 years (or over) since he made “Top 10 Worst Disney Channel Shows”, Josh is yet to make “Top 10 Best Disney Channel Shows” (and maybe “Top 5 Best Disney Sitcoms” because in early 2017 (the birth of the Nintendo Switch), he also made “Top 5 Worst Disney Sitcoms” because sometimes even Disney can make tween sitcoms like Nickelodeon) because besides the fact that he made “Top 10 Best/Worst Cartoon Network Shows” and “Top 10 Worst/Best Nickelodeon Shows”, I have predictions of how the list will go anytime he makes it! 10. Lizzie McGuire 9. The Suite Life of Zack & Cody 8. Even Stevens 7. American Dragon: Jake Long 6. The Owl House 5. Amphibia 4. That’s So Raven (franchise) 3. Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure 2. Recess Honourable Mention: The Disney Afternoon (save for Quack Pack) 1. Phil of the Future
The joycon drift issue can be permanently fixed now with replacement gullikit sticks. They use magnets instead of physical contacts making drift impossible
Been using... can't remember what it's called, but it's a liquid designed for cars, comes in a can with a thin, plastic nozzle which can spray the liquid under the joy con flap. Doesn't fix the issue permanently, and when it does fix the issue for a while, I sometimes still have to put up with VERY minor drift, but nothing unbearable and it works. Point is, it's a non-intrusive, non-technical, temporary fix, so how does the gullikit stick work? Is it simple to set up?
To me, this seems like an answer manufactures had for a long time to fix drift but didn't implement because it kept production costs lower. I mean, there had to be engineers at these companies who knew of a different mechanism to use. But hopefully these new sticks become standard.
You can just pour isopropyl alcohol in the stick and rotate it a bit. Really easy fix. When you get stick drift, pour isopropyl alcohol in the stick area and rotate it for a bit and you’re good to go. Save that money on buying a new controller my friends unless you want multiplayer.
I work in game console repair, and can shed some light on the cause of joycon drift. There's a thin metal plate on the back of the Switch's joysticks. Drift is caused by a dent forming in this plate. When the plate becomes dented, it means that there's no longer enough tension to keep the joystick centered. Unfortunately, this means that unless you have the tools to open your joycon, there isn't much you can do about drift. To avoid your controllers starting to drift in the first place, the best advice I can give is to be gentle with your joycons, and avoid pressing down on the joysticks too hard.
Love that Boo has gotten so much more animated! I have been a fan, subscriber, and watcher for a few years! Loved this video and when you do longer content. But it's nice to see Boo more often! I kinda think of him as the 'Pokemon' you'd have outside its Pokeball like Pikachu And Pika is just as iconic as Ash! Would love to see more little cut aways with Boo
Joycon drift isn't just a Nintendo problem. I have my PS5 controller experience something similar with the camera. For the past couple months, it keeps going to the left after a random amount of minutes after using it. It's an on and off problem but one that is really disorienting to me, especially when doing photo mode with the games I play.
I don't get how these idiots think the drift defect is a Nintendo exclusive issue when it happens on other companies controllers as well, its not like Nintendo CREATED the drifting issue on purpose, it probably only happens more quickly due to how poorly executed the Joycons were designed since they're small as fuck, it's not entirely Nintendo's fault but it still kinda is and the fact these Joycons are so fucking expensive doesn't help 😑
Oh, I can explain the vitality sensor! There were actually two uses. One I had heard about was for those extremely frightening horror games, the sensor could pick up how frightened you were and make things... arguably worse. Nothing like letting a horror game know you're scared to make it make it worse. Second, for the calming thing, this is classic Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. A biofeedback thing. You get a look at your heart rate and do the breathing techniques to reduce it, and you work on it in realtime with feedback. Trust me, I'm a nuthatch who got just enough therapy to not expire from constant anxiety attacks.
I've got the Year of Luigi 3DS, and I used that thing so much it's actually broken IIRC Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, New Super Luigi U and Mario and Luigi: Dream Team also sold rather well
2:45 That is literally a Total Drama character dressed up as the Angry Video Game Nerd. Also, congrats for Nin for nailing those voices of critics and especially having a perfect voice for "Karens" although I still want that internet trend to just cease to exist.
I love how expansive Phantomstrider is with his types of videos. From TV, movies, food, products, games, and much more, I am always entertained by the great variety he has in store for us. This one is one of my new favorites too.😃
@@JustaHedgehoginSonicBoom Exactly! He also takes controversial topics and odd problems with an ounce of humor, but with wholehearted understanding as well.
As a Die Hard WiiU fan, it still hurts. It hurts so much too me. I’ve had my WiiU since I was six on Christmas 2013 and it’s such an underrated system with so many neat features and incredible games. And considering that basically half of the Switches games are WiiU ports, think that shows
The real reason for R.O.B. was that, because of the video game crash of '83, retailers no longer wanted to sell video games. Nintendo came up with this gimmick to originally sell the N.E.S. as an "Interactive Toy with a Robot." This ploy got the console into stores, as well as the games. Once Super Mario Bros sold like mad, retailers' mentality towards selling video games changed forever and the rest is history :)
Speaking of Smash Bros. Smash Ultimate should have been on the list. Since that game is evil Satanic trash that's not even worthy of the table scraps of the Wii Shovel Ware Department.
Personally, I feel like a lot of Nintendo's recent faux pas (mainly the poor handling of the NSO) is a direct result of Satoru Iwata's passing. He really was one of the best things to happen to Nintendo from a business standpoint.
I rarely use NSO, but when they make an SV Pokemon COMPLETELY dependent on it to evolve (Finizen-->Palafin) the completionist in me begrudingly got the lowest tier sub for it. Can't use Pokemon Home without it either, it's how I bridge transfer my version exclusives in SWSH with only one Switch to use. Because I really don't want to drop $500 on another OLED Switch just to trade (and then have to pay for NSO AGAIN on the other Switch).
@@jazzratoon I never had that, my internet wasn't good enough to handle online play with my PS3. Never got a PS4 and if I wanted a PS5, I can't find one anywhere.
I prefer XBOX like XBOX live since Nintendo online made a terrible mistake like removing cloud data if you don’t pay every month, and it’s also glitchy. XBOX live is free, so it’s recommended to switch to Xbox
2:29 That made me laugh 😂 Kids (like me) were *also* growing up in a time when Nintendo meant it might work this time or it might frustrate you. Hands up 🙋♀️ for all my peeps who spent hours of their childhood blowing in to cartages.
I know right. I have been a massive Nintendo fan all my life. But their greediness this generation has genuinely made me dislike them and I have now moved on to PlayStation. (Seriously, screw Joy Con Drift). Of course. I will still buy Nintendo game when they are good. Like Metroid Dread and probably Zelda: tears of the kingdom when it comes out. But I’m done pre ordering disappointing games like Animal Crossing, Mario Tennis and Nintendo Labo
@@nine_tails137 exactly. I can actually understand it with PlayStation. You get 36 free games every year, there are dedicated servers and it just works without any connection errors. Yeah, I would prefer it to be free. But at least it works and is actually a good deal. Nintendo Switch Online is just shit, since you don’t pay for anything. Nintendo isn’t even maintaining servers or anything. All their online is done peer to peer (completely dependent on Wi-Fi). Making the connection slower. And they don’t have to spend a dime. It was free during the Wii, DS, Wii U and 3DS era. I don’t mind paying for it, if they actually enhanced the experience. But it honestly feels like the Wii U had better online. There is no reason we should pay for it.
Like the new Pokemon. I really wanted to play it but after hearing and seeing just how poor the game's quality is it definitely isn't worth the money and I am appalled that Nintendo would release such an unfinished product.
*proceeds to make Mario Sunshine and Majora's Mask, two rushed games that are one of the best ones in the series* *also makes Star Fox Zero, a delayed game that sucked massive chode* Miyamoto never actually said the quote, btw, even if he did, such a statement would be completely wrong
YES!!!! THIS IS EXCELLENT!!!! I absolutely love the video, man! Some things I want to point out (watch out, long comment): 1) If you're wondering why the N64DD was being delayed constantly, the reality is that Nintendo was waiting for a proper install base for the system to exist, which was to have 5 Million N64s sold in Japan. However, the N64 was actually somewhat of a failure in Japan, only reaching 5 Million in 1999 and not really exceeding that number by the time it was discontinued, a byproduct of third parties leaving Nintendo for Sony and SEGA thanks to their consoles using CDs, the N64 being a hard console to develop for, and third parties hating Nintendo's censorship policies and stuff. 2) Also in regards to the N64DD, in actuality, Nintendo was well aware of CDs being a thing developers wanted to use, but they were unsure about them because disc drives back then were very slow and, during the development of the N64, they hoped that disc drives would get faster when they actually start working on the N64... but they didn't, so they went with cartridges, but made a compromise with the Magnetic Disks, which could hold so much more than cartridges (at the time), but didn't suffer the speed issues that disc drives had. Some developers did like the Magnetic Disks, but as the N64DD's delays happened, they got cold feet and left Nintendo over it. 3) I have to say, the CD-i section is kind-of wrong in a few areas... but to be frank, that whole story is confusing and probably should be a video in-and-of itself. For one, while Nintendo did snub Sony for Phillips, it was actually because the contract would have given Sony the lion's share of control over the product and games rather than Nintendo, hence the betrayal; it's still stupid, but it does explain why it happened. Also, it should be clear that Nintendo asked Phillips to develop the same thing they asked Sony to do earlier, which was to make a CD-based add-on for the SNES, NOT the CD-i, as that was purely a Phillips product made before Nintendo was involved with Phillips in any way. Finally, SEGA was actually on top of the world when the SNES CD was in development and would still be around for a couple of more years; actually, the SNES CD was cancelled because Nintendo saw the SEGA CD fail and wanted out, along with hardware concerns over the SNES CD working with the SNES, and Sony actually went to SEGA to try and work with them, but while SEGA of America liked it, SEGA of Japan said no, saying Sony didn't know what they were doing in gaming... oh, were they wrong... NOTE: the SNES CD story is wild, crazy, and complicated... it's definitely worth a look into 4) For more context on the Nintendo-based CD-i games, Nintendo only gave Phillips the license to use Nintendo characters for a few projects, with Nintendo having NO OTHER INVOLVEMENT in those games' development aside from design approvals; those games sucked mainly because Phillips hired inexperienced developers and provided shoestring budgets to make these games and didn't really care about gameplay, only graphics and technology. It didn't help that the CD-i was not really designed as a gaming device, but as a multi-media device that can do all sorts of things in an okay manner; it's actually a decent piece of hardware by itself, but terrible for game designing (especially of the Nintendo caliber)... although a high price tag is what killed that thing. I loved the video regardless, Strider!
Pretty cool video; however, I must mention that the CD-i was actually originally marketed as a general hardware device, with Phillps releasing art galleries and office software on it (including one for Burger King, strangely enough). It wasn't until late into its life that they tried to market it towards gamers, but thanks to its limitations (e.g. can only have two-screens work of stuff at once), with the exception of Tetris, practically all the games released on it stunk.
@@GamerErman2001 I had this only with a Xbox 360 controller. All other controllers I ever had didn't develop this issues. It might be a 1% thing, but considering how many controllers are there 1% will cause a lot of people to complain.
I'm surprised you didn't have Joshscorcher in on this. He actually did a similar list nearly 3 years ago called top 10 Nintendo Fails, not only that, he's also done lists of top 10 fails on other game companies, like SEGA, Square Enix, and even EA.
Still Wish that Strider and Josh put Super Smash Bros Ultimate on their list. Since that game is demonic trash that was made in one day then vomited out the next day

28:41 Yes some PlayStation games do require a PlayStation Plus to play online, but there are games where you can play with others online without a subscription. Games include: Fortnite, Roblox, Overwatch 2, ect. So at least you can play some games without a subscription.
Another person effected by Nintendo’s copyright thing is a UA-camr named SML. He used to be called Super Mario Logan and he used to make plush videos with Mario plushies but since Nintendo copyrighted him he had to use puppets that don’t look like the Nintendo characters
That's actually unverified; there's no reports, documents, or any evidence related to "Nintendo Love Hotels," but you can find evidence for all of their other business ventures, like taxi services, instant rice, and stuff like that
As much as Nintendo has crafted some of my favorite virtual experiences of all time…they also continue to be one of the most frustrating successful companies in the business. Amazing developers, composers, level designers etc., terrible executives, marketing managers and literally everything else
20:58 The GC controller port and the memory card port are both needed to play GameCube games so I think you should have just said that they cut the backwards compatibility instead of listing the 3 things as different. You can use the GameCube controller on some Wii games but in that case you should have said (in my opinion) “the Wii mini loses the ability to play GameCube games, meaning you can no longer use the GameCube controller on compatible Wii games if you want to” or something along those lines.
Have you ever saw how this nintendo copyright issue rewrote the life of youtube channel SML? It used the Mario game characters with original characters since 2007, and by 2019, they had to recreate all of the Nintendo characters like Mario, Bowser, Rosalina, Toad, and even original guys like Junior, Joseph, Cody, and Black Yoshi, and turn all of them into original designs
I'm so glad to hear someone else like the Wii U! Maybe it isn't the most stellar console out there, but it was a great replacement for our Wii after it sadly stopped running. And Nintendoland granted me and my sibling many, many hours of laughs.
what a wonderful and refreshing change in tone, great to see you in your element and as a Nintendo fan myself its great to see someone speaking out about these things that Nintendo are very guilty of. cheers stryder , mrs stryder boo and luigi fan xx
5:00 Disappointed you didn't do enough research on this bit. The person selling the Etika joy-cons (CptnAlex) was infamously known for tracing original art and using it on products he sold on his Etsy shop. But most importantly, he didn't ask Etika's family for the rights to sell stuff under his name, and many sources claim he kept some of the charity money. Nintendo was probably unaware of that ordeal, but to highlight CptnAlex as a hero in this story is insulting.
I've collected amiibo since its inception in 2014, and I'm certain the only thing keeping amiibo on life support is the Smash Bros line. As of writing this, only 3 characters have yet to receive their figures and Nintendo WILL finish this line because they know people, like myself, want a completed Smash Bros amiibo set. But the moment the final character is released, being Sora, they will pull the plug on the last surviving remnant of the Toys to Life craze.
You forgot to mention Super Mario Logan in #9. He was going for so many years while using Nintendo plushies in his UA-cam videos. Then, in 2021 he got a cease and desist from Nintendo saying you can't use the Nintendo plushies again.
The original SML youtube channel used to be called SuperMarioLogan and that channel used to use Mario plushies like Mario, Rosalina, Bowser and Bowser Junior. Of course Nintendo said no to using the Mario plushies and said character names and likeness.
I have a Switch Lite, and I have NEVER seen any JoyCon drift on my end. Granted, it's just the Switch Lite, but it is majorly useful in avoiding paying out the nose for a JoyCon that sometimes doesn't work. Some games aren't compatible with the thing, like Mario Party Superstars, but hey, it's cheaper! 19:47 In case you're wondering what is causing poor Strider to convulse in horror, apparently, in that game, you have to tinkle (a.k.a. PEE) in this game, or else you'll wake up to an angry mom and a stained bedsheet. I'm dead serious. I had to look that up.
Don't forget the eReader for the GBA! That was cumbersome to use and required two GBAs to use with a cartridge. The add-ons for the Super Mario 3 port were by far the best thing the eReader had.
Thumbstick drift (Joycon specifically on the Switch) is a common problem. They make the controllers as cheaply as possible which means cutting corners and lowering quality control. They are starting to make controllers with modular thumbsticks meaning you can replace them. Why haven't they been doing this for a while now? Hell, it'd make them FAR more money as they wouldn't need to make a full controller and just make replacement thumbsticks. Sell it for $10, they'd make a killing.
One other issue I recall Nintendo having was the N64 control stick situation where people were getting blisters on their palms. I'm pretty sure Nintendo released gloves for that issue. Basically glorified gardening gloves...
I love Nintendo so much. I know that for sure, it is my favourite thing ever so I am glad you touched upon this. Especially since it is things that I have dealt with like the joycon drift. It is very annoying. And even though I knew all of these, I enjoyed it all in the video
“The true originator of UA-cam poop” you said it. Actucally the first YTP ever made was based on the Mario brothers cartoons. Not CDI but still Nintendo
I have the opposite of a joycon drift. Instead of my joycons playing the game themselves, they disconnect for 1-2 seconds. They don't disconnect from the switch itself where I have to slide them in again to reconnect them, they just don't respond for 1-2 seconds until all control is given back to me like nothing happened at all. 1-2 seconds may not be a long time, but it is when you're playing 200cc in mario kart
I love amiibo (I’m trying to get them all) but the worst part of them has always been availability. Reissues are almost never a thing and stock is almost always sparse even for new ones
1:21 that’s Dragon Quest XI S. I highly recommend you play that game. It’s a masterpiece. From its story, memorable characters and it’s turned based combat that feels new. I won’t go into detail, but if I were to say who’s my favorite characters to use, it’s Sylvando, Erik, and Jade.
Wait the Amiibos were a failure? I remember I used to collect all of those things for the Nintendo Wii U Super Smash Bros all the way in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Amiibo can't be called a failure by any metric, they regularly sold out back in the day and yeah they've waned in popularity but it's also been 8 years for a product that was born out of a fad that it was late to and yet still managed to outlast the competition. Amiibo is basically free money for Nintendo
I'm thankful that in a neighboring town I found a couple of guys who fix Joycon drift for a pretty decent price. As for the Vitality censor I'm pretty sure it checks your heart rate. At least it looks like a heart monitor.
You know, I never understood that idea of a 'comfort content creator' but you know what? Strider would be one for me. His videos are always so warm and welcoming.
Sorry I have to call out two things. Your list is mostly accurate and I agree with some stuff but I’ll make these 2 points: 1. CD-I while was in process of being a Super Nintendo CD, wasn’t in the end a Nintendo product. Nintendo backed out of Philips too BUT Philips pulled a fast one on them and got the rights to make Mario and Zelda games for CD-I. Nintendo did not make Hotel Mario nor the Garbage Zelda games for CD-I. You can call out Nintendo for being greedy but those titles nor the CD-I are a product of Nintendo even if it was initially going to be. 2. Nintendo Online. It’s not the best, no and I was so sad that Nintendo started charging for online during the Switch BUT Nintendo held off for so long doing it. Microsoft was charging for online since the beginning, Sony jumped in during PS4, and Nintendo was forced to join in. Nintendo’s service is actually cheaper than Sony and Microsoft’s. To be fair I’ve not own an Xbox console since 360 and I do see there’s some free to play games but my understanding for the most part a good chunk of online multiplayer you do need to pay for Xbox Live
Finally, a video of yours not talking about food for once! I'm not saying I hated those videos, but I kinda felt a bit stuffed after watching them. I hope you'll also get around to reviewing cartoons again soon, PhantomStrider. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the worst/best episodes of the Loud House.
After they created a competitor, they stuck with cartridges. The n64 wasn't a bad system, it was limited because the capacity was inferior compared to CD technology. But on the bright side, cartridges are much harder for kids to break so maybe that's one of the reasons they went with cartridges instead of discs for the system. Because of the lack of capacity, most games had no FMV clips soundtracks either had to be edited down or recreated from the ground up. The soundtrack for the first two Tony Hawk games had songs reworked and looped to save space and the audio soundtrack for Toy Story 2 worked the same way the Mario 64 music did.
You know Nintendo offers free repairs on Joycons in America right? Maybe quit complaining and get them sent to Nintendo, you guys are more lucky in America that the fact Nintendo offers free repairs and the UK doesn't so think about that for a moment
@@HylianBean97 I know that but what happens to them when be sent out. Will it be broken or scrush by the other package? Will be stolen? Will it be fixed and then later the joy con drift will come back?
I actually had a Wii Mini when I was a kid. The only thing I remember specifically about it is that I got syrup on it when I was eating pancakes. I have 0 idea where it is now
Nintendo didn’t create the Philips CD-I nor did it create the CD-I Zelda games. Nintendo and Philips had a contracted relationship which, I believe, involved developing a cd based Nintendo system. Similar to the one they had with Sony. When Nintendo chose to stick with Cartridges for the then Ultra 64 they dissolved their relationship with Philips. Part of that dissolution was giving temporary license for Philips to use Zelda characters for 3(?) games. Other than that Nintendo didn’t have anything to do with these games
Whenever I heard of the Gameboy PediSedate, that reminds me of Angry Video Game Nerd saying that one line, _"I WANNA BE SEDATED WITH A GAMEBOY! I WANNA BE SEDATED WITH A GAMEBOY!"_
How fitting that this came out today as I have started playing Pokemon Red and Sun on my 3DS for the first time in almost 5 years and I have played a bit with Bayonetta 3, SSBU, AC NH, MK8D and Sonic Frontiers all on my Switch. So it was quite a Nintendo day for me.
Nintendo's biggest failure ended up being Nintendo's biggest success. If Nintendo hadn't stabbed Sony in the back, we wouldn't have such great games like Spyro the Dragon, Crash Bandicoot, God of War. Hell, Uncharted wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Nintendo betraying Sony.
I remember about 5, maybe 6 years ago, there was this Pokémon rom-hack fan made game called Pokémon Uranium. Never played it, but watched PokeTubers play it. It was a really awesome game with a really interesting story, but when Nintendo found out about, (I think) they sued the creator(s) of the game, and had it taken down all together!!!! And they even did a copyright infringement thing on an artist who did some fan art of Pokémon back when Gen 7 was still going. And they made the artist take down their picture all together 😓
Strider I’ll say this, I am very impressed with how much you’ve expanded over the years. You clearly still have passion in what you do and I also love how you have your fiancée helping you out with your videos too. She seems like she’s a lovely lady and I am very happy for the both of you. It’s like you, her and Boo are family consisting of father, mother and child. Keep up the good work my friend!
I actually also had joycon drift. but I managed to fix it easily. there is a spray you can use. here in germany it is called "kontaktspray" I used a bit under the rubber-rim of the controller and I haven't had Joycon drift in over 3 years now. I think it's mostly due to dust collecting under the Joycon stick.
Looking back on this video now, Nintendo's copyright system should've been number one, at least to me. Cause knowing how Nintendo treats their fans online, makes me think and believe that they either don't fully understand how the copyright system works, or they just don't care at all. Also, knowing that they just started shutting down Switch emulators makes me believe that they're just evil. This is why I stopped being a fan of theirs and it is also why I will never ever buy Nintendo related things ever again.
Great video! I would love to add some failures: Virtual Boy Super Mario Bros 2 (JP/Lost Levels) Mario Kart Home Circuit (part of the 35th anniversary) I'm glad Nintendo released it all but not a commercial success...
At least ROB managed to make it to Smash Bros, and he was pretty cool there, especially in Smash Bros Brawl. ...He was also in Mario Kart DS for some reason....
"Why are people ok with nintendo putting up a paywall to play online?" Because Xbox Live and PS Plus? I mean it was only a matter of time, at least a yearly subscription for the general online is less than half Microsoft and Sony are charging.
Pro tip: the reason why joy-con drift happens is because dust gets in the stick. If you want to solve the issue, then dip a Qtip in isopropyl alcohol, put in under the stick, and then swirl the stick around. Works every time.
I know this is very unrelated to the Nintendo, but I wanted to tell you that in your “scary SpongeBob games” video, you were confused on how squidward worked in the “five nights at the krusty krab” game. It’s because you were mixing up flickering the light with holding the the light. Hopefully with this new info, you can beat night 3(and probably night 6 because of how easy it is).
The only one I've really experienced is the drifting with my joy con's. Thankfully a $12 repair kit and a nerdy boyfriend makes it a bit easier and cheaper for me to get that fixed if/when it happens lol. I did experience labor but only because my boyfriend begged me to split the cost with him. I generally wasn't interested in it though
Nintendo recently filed a patent for a new kind of joystick to be used in their next console, it uses some sort of magnetic fluid in them that prevents them from drifting also another thing about Nintendo Online, it doesn't use servers, it runs off YOUR OWN WIFI, so if the host (first person to connect in a game) disconnects, then SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE PLAYING, it's really bad

Sorry. And yes.
The joycon drift issue can be permanently fixed now with replacement gullikit sticks. They use magnets instead of physical contacts making drift impossible
Thank fuck. I’ve barely played the thing and I’ve had this issue
@@coralmaynard4876 WD 40
I kinda think of him as the 'Pokemon' you'd have outside its Pokeball like Pikachu
And Pika is just as iconic as Ash!
Would love to see more little cut aways with Boo
Boo is pretty awesome :)
Same my Xbox controller does that
I know why it does that it's really not maid to be clicked down the thumbsticks are to thin for the joycons even the light is to thin
That's why I liked the wii's nunchuch it was actually a beast the thumstick was anyways

For an honorable mention, I would also put in The Year of Luigi.
Losing nearly $400 million dollars just to promote Green Mario all year.
My 3DS XL was actually one from the Year of Luigi. There's actually a design printed on the bottom of it lol.
Wrong. The Year of Luigi 2013 was a Success. The thing that lost Nintendo that much money was the failure of the Wii U which released in Nov 2012
I've got the Year of Luigi 3DS, and I used that thing so much it's actually broken
IIRC Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, New Super Luigi U and Mario and Luigi: Dream Team also sold rather well
It had nothing to do with the Year Of Luigi, it was just because of Wii U overall popularity
Luigi is not “Green Mario” , he’s got a whole ass personality and his own games.

The crazy thing is that R.O.B is such a popular thing back in the 80’s it was in the smash bros series since Brawl!
Rob also appeared as a playablw guest character in Mario Kart DS for the original Nintendo DS.

Hi.
I really don't like the whole: "Pay to play online".
I already paid for the console and the game. So why do I need to pay more for online play?

"A delayed game is eventually good. A rushed game is forever bad."

Sometimes a game can be delayed a bunch, then have its production become rushed, and still be bad
Duke nukem 3D bring the prime example
Like the new Pokemon. I really wanted to play it but after hearing and seeing just how poor the game's quality is it definitely isn't worth the money and I am appalled that Nintendo would release such an unfinished product.
*proceeds to make Mario Sunshine and Majora's Mask, two rushed games that are one of the best ones in the series*
*also makes Star Fox Zero, a delayed game that sucked massive chode*
Miyamoto never actually said the quote, btw, even if he did, such a statement would be completely wrong
clearly corporate never listened to him
YES!!!! THIS IS EXCELLENT!!!! I absolutely love the video, man! Some things I want to point out (watch out, long comment):
1) If you're wondering why the N64DD was being delayed constantly, the reality is that Nintendo was waiting for a proper install base for the system to exist, which was to have 5 Million N64s sold in Japan.
NOTE: the SNES CD story is wild, crazy, and complicated... it's definitely worth a look into
4) For more context on the Nintendo-based CD-i games, Nintendo only gave Phillips the license to use Nintendo characters for a few projects, with Nintendo having NO OTHER INVOLVEMENT in those games' development aside from design approvals; those games sucked mainly because Phillips hired inexperienced developers and provided shoestring budgets to make these games and didn't really care about gameplay, only graphics and technology.
R.O.B also appeared in games like Mario Kart DS and Smash.
The Joycon Drift happened with my Wii too whenever I use the nunchuck. On a side note, the music in this video makes me feel nostalgic
YES! That happens to me all the time, and NOBODY ever talks about it.

I've collected amiibo since its inception in 2014, and I'm certain the only thing keeping amiibo on life support is the Smash Bros line. As of writing this, only 3 characters have yet to receive their figures and Nintendo WILL finish this line because they know people, like myself, want a completed Smash Bros amiibo set. But the moment the final character is released, being Sora, they will pull the plug on the last surviving remnant of the Toys to Life craze.

Wait the Amiibos were a failure?
I remember I used to collect all of those things for the Nintendo Wii U Super Smash Bros all the way in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
The way they were handled was a failure. They still sell well, but not nearly as much as back then
Amiibo can't be called a failure by any metric, they regularly sold out back in the day and yeah they've waned in popularity but it's also been 8 years for a product that was born out of a fad that it was late to and yet still managed to outlast the competition. Amiibo is basically free money for Nintendo
I'm thankful that in a neighboring town I found a couple of guys who fix Joycon drift for a pretty decent price. As for the Vitality censor I'm pretty sure it checks your heart rate. At least it looks like a heart monitor.

I feel bad for the amiibos, I loved those lil guys. I just wish they were handled more.
Sorry I have to call out two things. Your list is mostly accurate and I agree with some stuff but I’ll make these 2 points:
I dont know what it is exactly, but it’s always a pleasure seeing a new video of yours! 🙌🏼
“Phantom thumb” is such a funny way to describe joycon drift😂
Finally, a video of yours not talking about food for once! I'm not saying I hated those videos, but I kinda felt a bit stuffed after watching them.
I hope you'll also get around to reviewing cartoons again soon, PhantomStrider. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the worst/best episodes of the Loud House.
...I can't tell if you made that pun on purpose or not
After they created a competitor, they stuck with cartridges.
The biggest advantage of Cartridges was the read speed, it basically loads instantaneously compared to the 2x drive on the PS1
The joycon drift was so frustrated for me. It got to the point where I didn't play my switch for a couple of months.
You forgot to mention about the joycon drift, if it happens to a Switch Lite, they classify it as CONSOLE REPAIR and DO NOT fix it for free.

I still own a virtual boy lol
I gotta say personally every time you were done using that thing as a kid I would have the worst migrane of all time
Lol same
All in red and black lol
2 little words that will send even the most hardcore nintendo fan into a blind rage: Virtual Boy. Nuff said.
I did not expect LuigiFan00001 to collab with you in this video, he was one of my all-time favorite UA-camrs back in the day!
First! Great vid Strider!
And thank you for FINALLY giving Switch Online a much-deserved kicking! Especially after how it ruined GoldenEye!
You know, the Nintendo law suit thing reminded me of Mattel for how copyright hungry they are.
I remember when I got the labo, and I was STOKED to play vr smash bros. But it was so lackluster and I feel like I wasted my money
Im sorry for your loss
Imagine buying a bunch of cardboard lmao couldnt be me
I actually also had joycon drift. but I managed to fix it easily. there is a spray you can use. here in germany it is called "kontaktspray" I used a bit under the rubber-rim of the controller and I haven't had Joycon drift in over 3 years now. I think it's mostly due to dust collecting under the Joycon stick.
I think it’s wd-40 contact cleaner in america
Looking back on this video now, Nintendo's copyright system should've been number one, at least to me. Cause knowing how Nintendo treats their fans online, makes me think and believe that they either don't fully understand how the copyright system works, or they just don't care at all. Also, knowing that they just started shutting down Switch emulators makes me believe that they're just evil. This is why I stopped being a fan of theirs and it is also why I will never ever buy Nintendo related things ever again.
As a Nintendo fan, I was really hoping this new video comes out.
Could you make Spongebob top lists again?
Great video! I would love to add some failures:
Virtual Boy
Super Mario Bros 2 (JP/Lost Levels)
Mario Kart Home Circuit (part of the 35th anniversary)
I'm glad Nintendo released it all but not a commercial success...
I Was in Discord Server where someone tried to argue that the Labo will have a bigger impact then God of War (2018) since they came out the same day
At least ROB managed to make it to Smash Bros, and he was pretty cool there, especially in Smash Bros Brawl. ...He was also in Mario Kart DS for some reason....
"Why are people ok with nintendo putting up a paywall to play online?"
Because Xbox Live and PS Plus?
From the distance, you can hear a certain angry nerd yell “WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?”
Nintendo recently filed a patent for a new kind of joystick to be used in their next console, it uses some sort of magnetic fluid in them that prevents them from drifting
also another thing about Nintendo Online, it doesn't use servers, it runs off YOUR OWN WIFI, so if the host (first person to connect in a game) disconnects, then SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE PLAYING, it's really bad
