oooohh got my dates all wrong so :P the Happinesses were purchased in 2016... so no blooms on the blue one for 2 entire years, the purple one bloomed only once in 2017 :P the discounted lot were bought in jan or feb 2017.. only one bloomed this year for me a month ago outside.. the latest ones were bought in nov 2017 and they just finished their new growth, mostly grown in the past 4 months outside and they are blooming now. Main point is very slow growth until a few months ago :P
MissOrchidGirl I also have a dendrobium polar fire which I bought from IKEA! I adore her and I hope she will bloom for me this year, she’s quite vigorously enjoying the light on my kitchen windowsill at least and has numerous new growths, AND a keiki!
I also have a den polar fire, but I think that last winter it was too cold for the plant. All the old growths are leaves-less and the three new growth are way smaller =( I am still hoping for a spike honestly because one reached the terminal leaf stage and I can see something inside... but it does not seem to move!
Hello Danny, thank you for the videos you post, very educational. congratulations . I started by watching some of you videos and quickly as a plant lover, I developed a passion for orchids. thanks to you and your cultivation tips. thank you . I started with 2 phalionopsis and at the moment I have about 17 or orchids in just 3 months. So far so good, let's see. greetings from Portugal .
They need lots light and they can bloom non stop. :) Once the last flower on the old spike falls, you will see new spikes developing and they can even branch from the new main spike. They are wonderful...im sure you will have a wonderful display :)
Lovely!!! My dendrubiums are all in blooms as well! Amazing growth! It’s their first spike/flower with me since I got them. Putting them where they get a lot of sun really help these fellas!!! I have dendrobium phal purple happiness & dendrobium phal polar fire too!!! Happy growing Ms. Dani ^_^
Dendrobiums are great orchids! Love the phal type - they have lovely flowers. And, in my opinion, they are easy growers. Mine are in net pots with a large bark mixed with charcoal and perlite. They are grown in light shade. They are reliable bloomers. Discovered early this year that they don't like temps below 60 degrees F. Interesting, isn't it?
Please do a separate video sometime on growing Sedirea japonica and its varieties: "Minmaru Shima" "Minmaru" and "Seigyokumaru". I have had a hard time so far finding trustworthy information on growing these orchids so far. Many thanks in advance !
Hi Danny, I really like the pots at the 11 minute mark in this video, but can’t find anything like that in my area. Can you tell me what those pots are so I can search online?
Hi Danny. Haha try ... Ever since I started this hobby last year and burnt two mini phals outside, no no no, no more direct sun outside. I rather slow and easy, than fast draw magraw 🤔. Besides my present outside is too too buggy. Often I see red spider mite on top of rocks and cement walls where you’d think wouldn’t normally see. My nobilie is doing just terrific on the widow front and center and inside without the bugs. But sure hope after all that growth will push spikes soon. Also my LC Rojo two buds have matured and pushed out another bud, in process of maturing and recently two more buds also front and center. When I have a chance would love to send you before and after photos of these two guys. Apologies I’ve already taken mindset of, if it ain’t broken don’t fix it. Wonder where i heard that before ?? 🙈🙊🙉 Love your pieces and love your presentations. STy Asm.
i think Danny got her groove back! happy to see they are flourishing in their environment , i was wondering do they do well in tropical climates because they are den phals and originate in Asia in rather tropical geographical zone ? how about the catts do you have any outside on your balcony ? which other orchids would you try outside? all in all very positive video
Hi, it doesn't rain here almost at all in the warm seasons, on the rare occasion it rains they have no protection, but they are on the edge of my terrace, not under open skies :)
I am one that loves to let them get rained on. I believe the rain has done wonders on them, the rain water gives them something that can be given through fertilizer
I have a Phalaenopsis Orchid growing in water culture right now and I've had it since May and the flowers dropped in June. Do you think it will grow another flower spike this winter or next summer?
Think you meant the other way around :p nope my grow space has open windows daily, small pests get through the nets. The only thing I could have issues with are grass hoppers, but I see those :p
Hiiii Dannii, dendrobium needs lot of light , actually this type perform well only with lots of light ,and they bloom 2or 3times a year or more than that ,it's not a type that grown indoors

Hi Danny love your video's, I have a question, I want to repot a bulbophillum in semi hydro but I'm afraid it might rot. Do you have any suggestions?
When you take your Dens outside, do they get rained on or do you give them protection? Thanks!

Wow !!amazing dendrobium. Aren't you worried about pest from indoor to outdoors?
Think you meant the other way around :p nope my grow space has open windows daily, small pests get through the nets. The only thing I could have issues with are grass hoppers, but I see those :p
In Finland the dendrobium phalaenopsis/nobile or nelly isler cost 9.99€ at Ikea. ;)
Why do you not like putting leka at the bottom?? 😊
The banana chocolate is pretty
Hiiii Dannii, dendrobium needs lot of light , actually this type perform well only with lots of light ,and they bloom 2or 3times a year or more than that ,it's not a type that grown indoors
They bloom under artificial light too no worries, just less frequent :) and growth is reaaaally slow
