Pajero, Shogun, Montero is the names. Came in 3.0 petrol V6, 2.5 & 2.8 4cyl turbo diesels. Later models had a 3.5 v6 petrol. The 2.8 turbo diesel had the bonnet scoop on the 4M40 engine. The 4D56T is the 2.5 usually without a bonnet scoop. Common issues on diesels specifically is head gaskets and cracked heads if not maintained well. All models had the 5 speed or 3 speed auto with overdrive. All models had the Super Select 4WD. A rare version with a sloped high roof was made and is still around with manual windows and vinyl interior for the United Nations but made their way to Australia and Africa as well as the middle east. They are known for having the strongest IFS and front diff of their class compared to Hilux Surfs or Isuzu Bighorn, Nissan Terano of the same generation. Almost bullet proof off road and has survived the harshest of Australian conditions for over 20 years. I had two personally. Under powered but, if maintained well, it benefits greatly with a larger front mounted intercooler, a 3" mandrel bent exhaust and a tune (boost increased to 16psi and diesel pump adjusted professionally). The manual diesels rev very high at highway speeds. Expect a service life of 400-700,000kms if quality oil and fuel filters and fluids are used for diesels. Petrols tend to burn oil and develop oil leaks around 245,000kms. But are reliable although not a fan of water. There are two hidden storage bins in front of the middle row rear seats. Just below each outboard seat on the floor you'll see the carpet cut out with a tab, pull it and it flips open.
PacificCoastAuto my earliest memory with this car is when I was four years old, back in 2000. My dad would take me out on drive and do some offroading sometimes. Loved every second of it.
I have got one of these trucks the one I have is 1993 and has the air scup on the bonnet 2.8 TDi Diesel, mine is also the exceed with two batteries, it has several faults only to be expected due to the age, mine has the Cloth seats, that I prefer to leather, I don’t use for off road automatic gearbox, I love my Mitsubishi PAJERO truck, it also has a private number plates that cost me an extra £500 the truck cost me £2,000 I have spent lots of money because someone had fitted 19 inch Crome rimes with Low profile tires I put it back to the original 15 inch alloys it looks and handles much better now.
Totally agreed! I currently owned a 2001 montero limited with a 3.5L V6 Gasoline engine and my dad and i are currently working on swapping the engine with a mitsubishi fuso 4 cylinder diesel! Fun little project!
This particular Pajero is a 2.5(4D56T). 4D56's are notorious for excessive vibration, upping the idle speed to about 850 will help. US Market : Montero; Only available in 3.5L V6 DOHC. UK Market : Shogun; Available in trims: 2.5D, 2.8D. South America: Montero; Available in multiple trims: 2.5D, 2.8D, 3.5D. Rest of the world: Pajero; Available in multiple trims. Super Select 4WD or Active Trac System is known to go faulty due to the 4wd Vacuum Solenoids going bad. Or could be the front diff actuator.
Hi Derek, for North and Latin America it was called Montero as Pajero means "Masturbator" for Spanish spoken people. The choke for diesel is found as "iddle up"
In Spain first generation was pajero but at the end of that generation the name was changed to montero because pajero has a very funny sexual meaning here.
pajero montero and shogun are not 12 times dakar winner the pajero evolution is. its a completely diferent ball game. the only similarity is badges and looks . and the suspension was its secret to success .. thanks for the effort anyway .
How much was the total cost of one of these into the US ?? My wife has one in the Philippines I love it to death but can’t buy them around here in the US
Because you know we all know the different Japanese retailers exporting used cars worldwide without mentiining names . What sets you apart? Or is this just to get UA-cam income?
Mate why don't you ever mention the f.o.b. prices ? It's a waste of time listening without knowing the price.Atleast if you gave the prices, one would ask you to buy him/her a similar vehicle.
It's a supply and demand thing. For the last 10 years, these Pajeros were in high supply and low demand in Japan. Mitsubishi many mountains of these back in the day. That kept prices down and cheap exports were high. Now that they are a new import to the USA, prices are going up... and good thing too because I feel that they are well worth the money. I really like these. Just as long as rust hasn't gotten to them.

My childhood right here. Oh the memories
We never had these in Canada so not my childhood. I would have been 10 when this came out.
PacificCoastAuto my earliest memory with this car is when I was four years old, back in 2000. My dad would take me out on drive and do some offroading sometimes. Loved every second of it.
This suv looks like a 2002 rather than a 92. My fav of gen of pajero!
they should have done this particular pajero like they did the Mercedes G-wagon..maintained the shape and platform , modernise the interior.A winner!
Yes, it is a 2002 model.
@@joneighdeen3006 It's not.
Yes it is called a Montero in the US but we also have the Montero sport which is a little smaller..
USA NEEDS THIS
In USA Montero
UK Shogun
Japan Pajero
......
In Malaysia they use this Mitsubishi Pajero as a police car and hospital car.
I think UK also got Pajero name badge since when I lived in the UK 90% of these were Pajero & not Shogun.
Reggie & Aquo UK cars were Shogun's, any Pajeros you see are imports. About 10 years ago they were really popular to import
yes was before ..
In bangladesh the pajero is still used as a staff car for military officers
Mitsubishi’s diesel engine is one of the best. It’s shaking due to old mountings. Just replace it and good for another decade
Hi I have a pajero jus like that an I need a inlet manifold an water separator and head mount for the intercooler
Totally agreed! I currently owned a 2001 montero limited with a 3.5L V6 Gasoline engine and my dad and i are currently working on swapping the engine with a mitsubishi fuso 4 cylinder diesel! Fun little project!
@@mitsuevo8mr a 1uz would be a great swap...
wrong , 4wd with center diff unlocked is AWD mode for pavement, rain use
I got the 3.5 v6 1997 and I kick ass off road landcruiser eat my dust best Bay of my life looking for one more
I had the same car with 99-horsepower 2.5 Turbodiesel motor. It was a 1996 model and lot of fun with the clunky and rubbery 5-speed manual. I miss it.
99 hp for that massive car? 0-60 in like 20 secs?

pajeroo are just soo coollll! Old but Gold
I had the 3.0 V6 98'... Amazing truck, easy to work with, easy to drive, capable 4x4... not too expensive...
You do the best walk a rounds.
Outlander is the Airtek (idk what it was sold as in the USA or Canada).
Reggie & Aquo Montero in the Americas. Pajero is Spanish for Wanker, so they needed a different name.
I meant the Pajero & Airtek/Outlander are different, The Airtek is a compact crossover thing from 15 or so years ago.
Hi Derek, for North and Latin America it was called Montero as Pajero means "Masturbator" for Spanish spoken people. The choke for diesel is found as "iddle up"
Interesting. In Brazil it's called Pajero since we don't have that issue word in portuguese.
Yes, we had a customer ask us to look up that word in a dictionary. The exact wording I think was, "one who masturbates frequently".
Awesome! So, what do you drive? - I drive a masturbator! Lol
Name came from a pappas cat fyi
love ur reviews
I have just purchased one and it's converted to LEFT HAND Drive
My uncle had same model pajero, i learnt how to drive rhd cars in it. it was great car but its a real boat above 90km/h :D :D
Why Mitsubishi discontinued this wonderful car??
Low sales.
It's a 2.5 turbo, not 2.8
the Crown Estate parked right at front of it looks really nice.. "droll"*
Wow Derek at 10:38 there, is that the general Canadian politeness, or the Canadian politeness heightened by Japanese politeness?
This is not 2.8 to !!!! Is 2.5 td, but have great time with the truck
Look at that Benz 190 series. Is it EVO ll?
Outlander is a bit smaller. :) More in the VW Tiguran class.
super SUV and I have in Spin Tires and I also like to cut off road and I have a lot of videos with jeeps like this
Sticker translation is either "Bear Watch" or "Look out for bears"
Does this have the same engine as the engines commonly fitted to Delicas?
Volvo B10M yes but less power and no intercooler
that engine(4D56)used in our starex back then
I wanna to see the Subaru Impreza Wagon,Nissan Skyline GTS and Takumi's AE86 for next videos
The Impreza yes, it's pretty good. The Skyline yes, it's not that good. The AE86 no, but it's good.
Ok but I'm biggest fan of the AE86 since I was 11 years old when I watch the Initial D and I'm from Malaysia
In Spain first generation was pajero but at the end of that generation the name was changed to montero because pajero has a very funny sexual meaning here.
incorrect
Means slang for Wanker?!!
Hi mate. Do you service Australian clients at all? I has a great celsior but looking for another, or something a little different.
Its my dream car omg😭😭😭
4D56 V44WG Early Gen 2 (91'-93')
The rear matting is upside down xD Also, you can turn it into a bed!
Please purchase more Pajeros :)
Pajero/Montero/Shogun are extremely capable off road. 12x Dakar champion.... transmission and drivetrain are very stout.
pajero montero and shogun are not 12 times dakar winner the pajero evolution is. its a completely diferent ball game. the only similarity is badges and looks . and the suspension was its secret to success .. thanks for the effort anyway .
9:49 he knows de wae
I'll looking for a top mount intake cooler manifold
"How high you are"
0m
That's really good....
Does this have a differential (axle) in the rear or independent suspension?
what is the other battery for
Hey Pacificauto,
What the total tax for importing a used car into the US. Always thought the market was protected from such.
Will we get a look of that 86? 👀👀

Bro, they are very off-road capable.
I'm hoping for a video on the ae86 in the parking lot!
Sorry, it's going to a dealer.
It's pretty nice as far as 86s go though.
It’s called Montero where i live
How much was the total cost of one of these into the US ?? My wife has one in the Philippines I love it to death but can’t buy them around here in the US
Thats not a 2.8 thats the 2.5 4d56t engine

Just change the nozzles and the shaking will be gone

Was the Montero not sold in Canada?
Nope, Mitsubishis were not sold there until the 2000s.

It's a Montero!!!
Roberto Buenrostro it’s jdm so it’s a Pajero.
JDM name was Pajero till 2001 then they named the JDM models Montero too
In Asia, the montero is the entry level suv, and the Pajero is their top model. A direct competitor to Land Cruiser
It’s a pajero mate
Because you know we all know the different Japanese retailers exporting used cars worldwide without mentiining names . What sets you apart? Or is this just to get UA-cam income?
james din always good to share information with another enthusiast..
JDM CAR and MOTORCYCLE Can you find out how much you can sell me a landcruiser 1hz diesel fire truck.
shougun and montero were the two other names that the pajero got because pajero is spanish slang for wanker
I have the v6 3000 pajero
Ha ha in my country pajero means fapper and they sell it with that name
