I forgot to mention using a higher aperture will make those shots alot more in focus of course! Also, I balance the entire system and then adjust the roll again after inserting a HDMI cord for monitor use.
which is not the best choice in low light situations. so how do you usually handle the focussing? is there a decent autofocus with the fotodiox adapter?
Thumbs Up!!! Mounting/Balance: 00:37 Motor Settings: 05:53 Walking Technique: 08:41 Focus: 9:36 @ycimaging Thank you for another dope and informative video!
I've had the M for a couple of years now and going back over this video has helped re-tune it and has allowed me to get the most out of it without constantly upgrading to a new gimbal...Very helpful!
An EXCELLENT guide to the Ronin. I got mine a few weeks ago and have watched a ton of tutorials. This is by far the best video on it. You covered every aspect that I considered important!
DUDE!!! Thank you for this tutorial! This is light years better than the one made by DJI, mainly bc you show the possible struggles in the process whereas they pop their shit out of the box and it's perfect. You made me feel like I was not losing my mind! Great job!
i remember watching this video awhile back last year i told myself i was gonna get the Ronin M 🙏🏽 a year later i officially got the money purchased it last week will be at my door step tomorrow 🔥🎥🙌🏾💯🙏🏽 blessings from above
TIM i love it man the only con i have to it is how fatigued you can get while using it the little sucker can be heavy imma post a video really soon of it today marks one month that i’ve had it!!!!
Same here fam..I was using a glidecam for the longest and I just said you know what..let me make this upgrade..best decision I ever made..and it looks way more professional. Jus don't make the mistake I did and forget to buy a right angled hdmi to mini cuz it will mess up your motor.
I'm scrambling to learn as much as possible about the Ronin since I'll need to use it for a job this weekend and your video was very informative and clear. Thanks!
been watching you for 3 years now and im about to finally grab myself a ronin m tomorrow for my a6500 and sigma 18-35, cant wait to be able to fly that lens on a gimbal, also great video learned a bunch
If you use wider focal lengths, you have the ability to use a wider apertures (ex. 1.8) If you use tighter focal lengths, you have to use higher apertures (ex 3.5 and up)
Really appreciate everything you do man. DJI videos barely helped me, and all of your Ronin content changed everything for me. When using a monitor, should I balance the Ronin with it mounted, or wait till after I have the camera fully balanced? I have a lot of trouble getting it balanced when I have the monitor pre mounted and the cables connected to my camera. Recently Ive just been ditching the monitor because it complicates things. Let me know my dude. Appreciate you
You didn't touch on moving subjects like the artist walking towards for you for these one take music videos. I would assume you shoot at 18mm to keep everything semi focus right? But, I know the Sony does has auto lock focus tracking not sure if it will work with that type of lens tho.
Hey man, this is really helpful. I picked up one yesterday and I'm so excited to use it.. your instructions seems point on. Thanks for putting out great content.
Great video Bro! great real time tutorials and thorough! (and just to clarify.. you're right on the pan axis...the more weight there is on the plate..the further back it needs to shift to bring the front weight into the centre of gravity!)
I love you guy ! I'm French I watch all the videos, and precisely that's the question I was wondering just now! How to handle the focus when using the ronin.
I just purchased a ronin m and i have a sony a6000 i need to mount it to the long bracket I see you have a extra accessorie that goes around the camera and then mounts to that bracket need some help great tutorial on balancing and like how u showed how to get steady footage tip .thanks for all your time to help us newbies.
love this damn video. I haven't use a gimbal many times (three times to be exact) and I'm picking a Ronin M up next week...one thing I struggled with when I used one is the focus. Thanks for the tip on that.
The recent history and fate of the Ronin-M offers an important lesson to be learned, basically that dji products are "throw away" items. Though the Ronin-M was a good gimbal, it was rendered as worthless junk when dji pulled all support for the product by halting the production of proprietary "smart" batteries and auxiliary power adapters, leaving thousands of customers in limbo. If you can afford to "throw away" a dji product and simply replace it with a new one if it happens to break (or replace it with a new model)... If you can afford to do that, then you are good to go. If not, then perhaps you should think twice about your purchase.
OMG! I literally thought the opposite! I had thought if you shot at a higher f stop it would be better than something like f1.8...have to try this now :)
I forgot to mention using a higher aperture will make those shots alot more in focus of course! Also, I balance the entire system and then adjust the roll again after inserting a HDMI cord for monitor use.
YCImaging bout time my nigga!! Thank you
which is not the best choice in low light situations. so how do you usually handle the focussing? is there a decent autofocus with the fotodiox adapter?
Slatschke No autofocus with Fotodiox adapter I use.
wrote my comment before i even watched through the whole video. great insights to the focussing process, nice! thanks
YCImaging so like a 2.8 aperture is better than a 1.8 when focusing
Thumbs Up!!!

Did you ever end up getting one? I’d like to know what you think of it. Or do you know of any better alternatives? Thanks
An EXCELLENT guide to the Ronin. I got mine a few weeks ago and have watched a ton of tutorials. This is by far the best video on it. You covered every aspect that I considered important!
Dude this video rules. Finally balanced my rig right, got the sickest shots. Thank you!
I appreciate your Time to put this up. Thx from across the planet- peace
