what mystical wizardry is behind this contraption?!!! it responds to every micro-inch of bump, jerk, bounce to keep the shot steady in real-time!!! ...speechless
Were you using any kind of audio noise reduction in this video? When the lav mic was on Chris it seems like there's something strange going on with the background audio. This seems to have cleared up 3/4 of the way through the video when the mic was on Jordan.
No noise reduction was done aside from level adjustments in post. We had some issues in the opening and the squirrel/seagull fight, but the rest should be good. Jordan @ TCSTV
I almost got a glidecam and the vest but just bit the bullet and got the Ronin. So glad I spent the extra buck. I can't believe how smooth it is. Only thing I'm not sold on yet is putting it all together, but I'm sure it will get easier the more I use it.
My favorite video of your series so far. I always wondered what I could use that won't annoy the crap out of me. This might be right one. So glad I saw your review here.
Hello! What monitor is that? 8:33.. Im using my 7d with the newer and lighter version ronin m and I'm having difficulty looking at the lcd...lol. Need a good but quality monitor, not that expensive though...thanks!
Greeting from Brooklyn, New York. You have lots of fans here. Just thought you should know. Keep up the great work! (I would visit the store in person but you guys always look cold!)
Haha, Jordan seemed like he did NOT want to be in that Alberta cold at the end. Also, Chris messing with the zoom on the Glidecam and dropping the F-bomb was hilarious. This looks like a stellar product for videos like you shoot. What's funny, is that I noticed the smoothness in your store walkaround and figured you were using a new camera rig system - next video is you guys explaining the new camera rig system.
Thanks for the time and effort you guys put into making this well crafted review. Definitely informed me and helped lead to my purchase. Keep up the awesome videos.
I wonder if speeding up that deadband movement setting is why there are such harsh panning movements in these videos. Most of the other videos I have seen of the DJI Ronin have much smoother horizontal motion. Either way, super useful video.
Darren Miles also reviewed Jordon he was traveling from Florida to New York and his case broke in two places. Its seems like a oh ok case for traveling locally but not so much when you are putting on a airplane. If you want to see Darren Miles broken case here is his review Jordon. DJI Ronin Review
What an awesome device ! I consider to pre order it here in germany. Sidenote: You guys have a really good looking shop there sadly your are to far away to say hello
I think this video is pretty good. It's kind of like an infomercial though. When he was playing with the glide cam I thought it was gonna go into a black and white close up shot and fall apart as a giant white X flashed across the screen while he shakes his head in disgust.
I like the Lok-stability system better. It compensates for the up-and-down walking motion better. The video at the beginning makes me dizzy because of the up-and-down motion.
The DJI ronin seems to have a very sharp movement but more stabilize. The Glidecam has a smooth movement when it turns and has more of a floating effect. The glidecam doesn't have jagged when it turns but stabilizing wise it's not the best to say the least, it's all over the place.
You wanna know what sucks about you guys! You are not in California! My wife hates the cold and you guys have solid videos. I would love to shop there on a weekly basis. Happy Halloween
Great device, I'm a glidecam user, I think this is for a different kind of market, more for more serious filmmakers that have a little more budget and more room to operate things like this, for the hiker/videographer, the glidecam fits perfectly, just add some post stabilization and you will get almost as good result as this. With the money for this device I rather get a better camera or lenses.
Great video, guys! It's definitely noticeable, I asked a few episodes ago how you were doing the sweet walk and talks. Unfortunately my budget keeps me in GlideCam territory (and I'm dang good at it) but the Ronin is definitely something I'll keep my eye on!
Good, but could have been a lot better if they had given it a "shoulder strap" so both hands can be used to manipulate the remote control or hold the rails when going down the stairs.
have you ever made a video just holding the phantom with its built in gimbal and making a video out of that? im working on one rn and would love to see a vid of you guys doing that!!! btw im using a phantom 3 professional \.
Hi, Chris 👍🏻 I would like to know if you can do a review and shoot with the Ronin -S. I just bought a Canon 80 D and I’m hoping to buy the the Ronin -S. I really enjoy watching your channel and video tutorials. Danny
I found it nearly impossible to balance my GH4 on it. After many hours of scratching my head, I decided to move the center position on the Yaw axis and adding some weight to the top of the camera, this made it work, it also moved the lens closer to the center where it should be. I found the whole process frustration, but using it is exhausting!
I definitely believe that setup Is a lot better than Glidecam system. Ronin has an very stable and much easier to use and can do so many films with It. I want one myself.
hi, it might be odd question but, are we able to change battery while camera attached on gimbal? im using a7s ii and as you know battery life is not that long. awesome video btw :)
Very nicely put together tutorial. Will this work on a camcorder, like Canon Vixia G30? Please let me know. I need something affordable. And this looks good to me, but I think I will have trouble with the software apps, on knowing what the heck i'm doing. And will a simple I pad work? And can I control the up, down, left and right through the screen on the camera, or do you need two people to achieve that. And I also seen this now from djI for $999.00, it came down in price. Get back with me please, and God bless my friends, thank you so much for this video.
Hello and thank you for the video! Is it possible to know what lens did you use in the video? I think one is the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8, but im not sure. The other I have no idea. Thanks and good work!
I think it´s sad that you guys (Camerastore) do not make videos/reviews more often. At least a couple of videos a week would be very good for my mental health ;-) For example I would love to see what´s the difference in real life shooting between AVCHD and XAVC-S, or best low light performance between LX100 vs GH4 12-35 f2.8 vs Sony AX100…...
We'd love to do more videos, but unfortunately these are shot on our days off. We do have a deluge of content coming in the next few weeks though... Jordan @ TCSTV
simply dropping the ronin off of an Easyrig doesn't work well. you get very obvious bouncing from the top arm. there is a device you can add to the Easyrig called "Serene" that is for gimbals but it cost about 2k. i use an Easyrig "mini" and drop heavy duty bungie cords off of the top arm and it is very smooth walking plus is easier to hold for longer periods of time vs holding the Ronin by itself. ITS HEAVY!
Have you guys managed to get smooth panning with the ronin? Pretty much every ronin/ronin m video I see has a strange, very mechanical looking pan to it. Rather than one smooth panning movement its as if its doing lots of smaller movements. You can see this very clearly at 12 seconds in. I just bought a ronin m and assumed that the same issue that I saw on my own footage was operator error, but I keep seeing it on footage across youtube. Including the DJI film too. Would be great to know your thoughts. Does the joystick help with smoothing the movements out?
love the background bird party at 3:22
🤣🤣🤣👀😱😱😱
Fantastic review guys! I will be purchasing this bad boy for Christmas. Can't wait to test it out and thank you for all the insight!
what mystical wizardry is behind this contraption?!!! it responds to every micro-inch of bump, jerk, bounce to keep the shot steady in real-time!!! ...speechless
"That just ****s it all up doesn't it!"
I absolutely love that bit, brilliant review folks.

how are they picking up the sound form voice.

That's device looks so fu@kin useful. Wow!!!! Seriously great job on this episode guys. Very informative.

Awesome job not only on the review but the editing. I know it takes alot of time.

sweet device
Putting the bird seed out was a nice touch, I'll have to remember that.
Top to bottom a fantastic review. Thank you TCSTV!
Greeting from Brooklyn, New York. You have lots of fans here. Just thought you should know. Keep up the great work!

Best part is 10:00 that nails everything in that product and conclude whole review.
what a great test review. I learned lots
Nice video mate, thumbs up. Cheers from the IGY Simpson Bay Marina, Sint Maarten in the Caribbean.
4 minutes in totally distracted by the squirrel and birds background drama ;)

Tonin' with the Ronin: the spiritual successor to the 8 Minute Abs.
Thank you for the Glidecam comparison! I was searching for this for quite some time...
Great presentation guys. It looks like a superb device.
You guys do great reviews. The workout scene at the end is a plus. :)
7:02 That irritated face. XD
such a professional and great review thanks guys.
Only 3k? I'm gonna get four of them.
They're 1k now. You could've had 12 of them.

Excellent gimbal for the money, we never had problems with it. Works perfect, just needs to be balanced .
I like the Lok-stability system better. It compensates for the up-and-down walking motion better. The video at the beginning makes me dizzy because of the up-and-down motion.
I like the way you explain....
Levi seems stoked.

I'd really like to try something like that.
Like perhaps the Turnigy Pro Steady Hand Gimbal which sells under 500 bucks.
Time to sign up in TCS for some serious Ronin Tonin'.
he also has the gimble mounted backwards btw
You wanna know what sucks about you guys! You are not in California! My wife hates the cold and you guys have solid videos. I would love to shop there on a weekly basis. Happy Halloween
Really want a smaller device for dslrs. Hopefully that would bring it closer to the $1000 range
Great vid guys
all it need is controllers on the handles for singe operator mode and it will be perfect
Great review! I'm considering buying one, it is strange that it only works with windows or apple mobile though
Good review thanks, can I ask how you were recording audio to the ronin camera on your walk and talk?
We just mounted a Sony UWP-D11 wireless system to the camera. It makes things a bit top heavy, but it still balanced well.
Jordan @ TCSTV
it's 2018 and I still use it!

10:01 made me giggle. Great review. Going to order one now. not to mention that I subscribed.

It is gorgeous peace !
Great review guys!
Great review guys keep it up.
I do really like all of your videos :) Nice job, it's fun to subscribe you guys!
Good, but could have been a lot better if they had given it a "shoulder strap" so both hands can be used to manipulate the remote control or hold the rails when going down the stairs.
I guess if you do single man operation a separate monitor mounted near eye level on the rig is probably essential - right? I'm a PXW-X70 user.
Please do the comparison to the Turbo Ace AllSteady 7. They are at similar price point.
OMG!! Your mic sounds awesome!!! What mic model is the guy holding the Ronin using at 9:30?
great overview!
I found it a bit heavy to use for a long shoot!

Did you guys shoot this in 1080 @ 60 or 4k. It looks really good either way.
DJI make amazing quadcopters.
i wanna see more levis
Not for me, I need the second operator controls on the gimbal. There are such solutions out there.
Enjoyed the review but note that there is no G in DJI. Not sure why so many say DGI.
Hello and thank you for the video!
Is it possible to know what lens did you use in the video? I think one is the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8, but im not sure. The other I have no idea.
Thanks and good work!
Could you please field test and review the letus helix?

TheCameraStoreTV Thanks for the reply! Days of or not, you guys should be paid by doing these videos. Keep up the good work ;-)
Awsome!
3:05 motivation = infinite ....
can you make a tutorial on balancing the ronin on a scarlet, I'm trying to get good settings on mine!
best moment at 7:03. ha ha! Levi not too happy!
i laughed out loud when you adjusted his focus
What do you guys think of the Ronin-M? I hope you get a chance to review it!
I guess Easyrig will be perfect for the Ronin and similar big gyro devices. Get the weight off your arms. Perhaps something you should try out!
simply dropping the ronin off of an Easyrig doesn't work well. you get very obvious bouncing from the top arm. there is a device you can add to the Easyrig called "Serene" that is for gimbals but it cost about 2k. i use an Easyrig "mini" and drop heavy duty bungie cords off of the top arm and it is very smooth walking plus is easier to hold for longer periods of time vs holding the Ronin by itself. ITS HEAVY!
How heavy should be a camera on Ronin MX. I have a Sony a6300. It's about 0.450 kilo. Should I increase the weight. If yes, why? And how much?
Thanks
my issue is, if im walking or running, it always go a bit up and down and that sucks
So how do I change focus?
***** Buy a canon c100 with autofocus! The C100 with autofocus paired with the Ronin is a hidden gem!
You've got to use a wireless follow focus system or aputures new dec lens adapter.
Can you please tell me what mic you are using to record this? Thank you and happy thanksgiving.
Have you guys managed to get smooth panning with the ronin? Pretty much every ronin/ronin m video I see has a strange, very mechanical looking pan to it. Would be great to know your thoughts. Does the joystick help with smoothing the movements out?
Hint for your next intro: The camera operator has to walk backwards, not the anchorman!!
sooooo still no android app?
The problem is you have to re-balance it and it takes at least 30 minutes to do.
3:20 -> Look squirrel under car! :D Anyways DJI Ronin is my dream ^_^
Jordan, which camera has better video dynamic range/grades better? The RX100iii or the LX100?
Tonin' with the Ronin! Fucking hilarious.
This is not a "TV show", its the internet. Lets not get a big head now. ha!
Очень круто!
невероятно
Красиво
Великолепно
This is Awesome
Excellent
Superb bit of kit - shame about the weight!
