Love the 6 speed anti theft gearbox
😅

First time on this channel… And I have to say I really do appreciate your straight up and informative content. Big thumbs up. 👍🏻
Thanks mate!
Hello from Manchester UK.
This is the first video I've watched on your channel and what a great review.
This looks like an amazing machine and a great big brother to the small but mighty GR Yaris.
I haven’t watched one of your car reviews before but was really impressed with your thorough yet concise method. Covered a lot of stuff that usually gets missed but didn’t drag it out. We’ll done.
Thanks mate!
Yep. These are the kinds of videos that are so valuable into the future.
The special edition will be priced at about $80,000? Wow, how times have changed!
Unlike most high level trim models, the Morizo edition makes meaningful and targeted upgrades to a true enthusiast
Hi Paul & Car Expert Team, Thankyou so much for all the testing you guys do. I absolutely LOVE this GR Corolla. I really do appreciate the lengths you go to with your testing especially with the track testing as it give a much bigger picture of what these cars a really like. My heart and my head argue every day over this car.
Thanks heaps guys!
Thanks for watching!
Love it! Thanks so much for the review, so glad I put down a deposit early last year!
Love your Review format!
Another wicked review, thank you 🙏
Good review again Paul , thankyou
the rears are 2 pot calipers, but honestly one of the best reviews that hits a lot of points. I'm very impressed
Sorry about that!
70 K and 80K for hot hatch. 46K was already up there.
Got mine but it hurt the account
Rather just buy the Supra
That’s in Australian dollars, in US dollars it’s 47k so it is in the correct price range
Especially when a tesla model 3 are the price range 70 to 80k and smokes all those cars in torque alone
100% i get its a monster but 80k for a corolla .. it looks great except for the rear flared guards now if the rear was naturally flared ( so the actual body was widened to fit the wider rear wheel base not bolted on looking flares ) would look much better as it kinda looks lame with these flared guards at the rear ( ohh and 3 exhaust tips over kill pointless much ) otherwise the rest of the car looks epic !!
Alot like my distaste for the GR yaris i cannot get over the bolt on looking flared guards at the rear it looks stupid IMO !!
Love the large infotainment system
Fantastic review. Very thorough.
Would love to watch a comparison with the GR Yaris vs GR Corolla
I work for toyota and have to say i prefer the corolla, also the corolla comes with the manual😊
@@louisbarningham The Yaris also comes with a manual?
@@louisbarningham gr yaris only comes with manual same as gr corolla

Great review of what looks like a very fun little car. Was great to see you get lost in driving there. I am not even interested in a car this size but I enjoyed watching the review regardless.
When I was a kid, my dad had a 1989 Toyota Corolla SX in white. It was the performance Corolla of its day, with 100kW under your right foot from Toyota's 4a-GE engine. Well fast forward 30 years and this weapon of a hot hatch comes out, and I can't help but remember the days of riding around in my dad's GR Corolla of its day.
Remember those well, and rode past a pristine example last weekend - nice to see out and about still
I remember from when young and stupid enjoying a great fang in a rented 1989 Corolla (Seca Twin Cam) for the 50Km drive from Perth down to Rockingham via Kwinana Freeway. Night time so no traffic. Easy 160kph and rock solid handling. Great car for a rental at the time.
This was my first car. Loved that thing so much! I used to destroy Mitsubishi 2L Turbo Cordias for fun. the 4AGE engine was bullet proof! I miss that car so much!
Wish every car enthusiast in the world could buy a Toyota GR Corolla and Honda Civic Type R at msrp 👍
Yeah sucks for some countries with poor consumer laws
@@lutzaby1997 exactly!!!
I take it you like the hybrid?
@@lutzaby1997 Ahhh your one of those people who has not had fun on the roads when your younger. It's a track/Rally focus car. Some Hoons cannot afford this car to begin with. Purely for the Enthusiast.

@Redemz you're going to destroy god? Bold prediction.
I had the same reaction while driving a GTR R34 with 860bhp. No time to talk, super busy figuring out as it's not my car and the connection between you and your car is something else. I can relate your smile while driving. I bet you're enjoying every bit of your job. BTW big fan of GR corolla.
nice review Paul
Old mate's smile helped me decide whether to buy one - so good!
CE - where you get comprehensive & entertaining reviews. Aces💯👍
Great review Paul haven't heard you use seriously meaty for a while.
Hi Paul, when will you be doing the i30 Sedan N?
Great review btw!
Nice review as usual, but how did you not try Track Mode?
Love hard work of yours and yours team 😙 love from PAKISTAN 🇵🇰
Thank you Pakistan 👍
I love this car so much! The GR Yaris is the more special car since it is smaller and it is the actual homologation car, but this GR Corolla with it's four doors and better interior is just the car to have!
I would pay 50,000 .
Two reasons one it's a Toyota
Two it's a Corolla and it doesn't matter how they dress it up or what they call it it's a Toyota Corolla and that's the end.
This thing looks fire 🔥
Considering the hot rally spec cars of the 90s and 00s that had an interior of a wheely bin, the inside is fantastic, they really spared no expense in the Corolla.
That’s what you’d expect at that price.
What's funny is that you think a non hot hatch of the 90s didn't have a wheely bin interior. Its just that examples of the hot versions still exist.
I get where you’re coming from but it’s lacking common features like centre console storage, a sunglasses holder, some sort of cup securing mechanism and an auto dimming mirror. All things the Golf R has in addition to many other niceties like heated things, a good sounding horn and solid doors. But agree if it’s good enough in other respects it can redeem itself and probably is aimed at a slightly different market. A front LSD is nice but arguably more so the torque vectoring rear diff on the Mk8 which actually results in oversteer. I suspect between a wider track and better tyres, the GR’s outright cornering performance would be better and enjoyment from the manual good, but in a straight line or any road not dominated by extremely tight corners, it will get smashed.
@coreyw427 those are the most boring parts though, corners are all the fun
@@junit7590 ha I do agree. I’m assuming the Golf R with better tyres would be a near match but I know it’s not a fair comparison if they’re not included from the factory.
This is a great hot hatch. Was hyped when it launched last year. The Gazoo Racing brand is looking good on both the road & race side 👍
Sweet, I'm test driving one tomorrow, my friendly 'yota dealer suggested it, can't say no to that.
Curious if you'll be doing an Australian review of the new Civic type R, it'd be nice to see a comparison between it, this and the i30n.
Yes :-) review goes live in a couple of weeks.
Hi mate when you are going to test the Type R looking forward!!!!
Great review! Just think, this engine is sporting stronger internals, so a simple 'flash' tune will yield around an extra 40-50KWS! That's 350HP from a 1.6LT! just nuts!
I have a gr yaris and it's about 320 with no supporting mods be good to see what rothelli manages to squeeze out of the stock ecu
Do GR Yaris vs GR Corolla video!!!
Here in South Africa I anticipate it will be around 800k to 900k. It seems it will be an icon for years to come. Definitely something different from the vw and looks monstrous
3 cylinder is not an engine one should expect to carry them for years to come. This GR will definitely change the hot hatch segment
This is gonna fetch over R1 million starting, you are being optimistic.
It sounds noisey on the video, lots of cheap plastic, no arm rest and then that centre screen looks terrible like a after thought. Golf any day, it will always be the bench mark.
Inside of the car is very bad for a hot hatch and for the price
Looks amazing
For something so expensive you would expect premium features.
I think I20N or I30N is a much better choice and less money
Limited warranty unlike Hyundai with track warranty
But no 4wd.
@@KuroRyuu86 that’s true
In Australia, you guys get a HUD for the speedometer and other info? Also, for the backseat headrests, do you have the P/N for those? Looks like Toyota made a lot of nice changes for the Oceania market.
😂 The reactions from 14:40 onwards says it all...brilliant car but the buckets of money required for a hotted up Corolla or Yaris is mind blowing but if the performance matches its potentially justified. Great video guys!
Probably better off getting the i30N sedan
@@pastorofmuppets8834 the looks really are polarizing though. Much prefer the i30n hatch or i20n look
@@Philbyyyy yeah good point
No weird centre oval exhaust though
That would drive me nuts
The only time you’d hear Paul say sh!t 😂
@@jamiele9638 watch him testing the merc amg A45s, he’s giggling like a school kid when he test drives that one
Nice review!
Pity the infotainment screen looks like its from the early 2000's.
Just brought a Ebony Black GR GTS Corolla today, look forward to pickup..😊
One exhaust pipe for each cylinder 🙌
Love the design 😮
Love the GR range 👍🇦🇺
Paul, can you do the GR Corolla V GR Yaris drag race and brake test?
Someone really needs to line up the Corolla and Yaris gr. No one has done it yet... Come on guys!!!!!
Just got the ZR, wish I could’ve convinced my partner to get a GR but the price tag kills it for me. But if I had the chance I’d jump at getting one for sure
ZR is a better choice for daily commute 👍👍
What is the zr base model like? Is yours a manual? Whats the responsiveness of the car? 3 questions 😂
@@stopspin it’s a nice car you don’t really get a whole tonne of features other than 18” rims and a choice of two tone colour scheme like I went for the frost white with black roof then added the optional spoiler which I think looks choice. Also you get suede seats which are really nice and comfy, I’m fairly certain Paul has done a video on the ZR and whole Corolla range for an in depth look at the differences.
It’s got CVT transmission because it is a hybrid.
The responsiveness is great, I’ve gone up to 170 and taken a corner like it was nothing, but 170 is it’s top speed aswell. It’ll put a smile on your face to say the least really fun hatch.
Hopefully answers some of your questions
So tempting.
Hello Mr Maric... Big fan all the way from 🇿🇦🇿🇦
If possible, my only request for the next upcoming vid is to do a comparison test between the Gr Corolla,Honda Civic Type R(FL8) and the Ford Focus RS...
I know the Ford is outdated in terms of tech but in terms Engineering and performance, it would be nice to see these cars go head to head l specifically a track test
Cheers🍻
Always thought Corollas were nice but kind of boring. But this one just shut my mouth! Looks amazing and that engine… wow!!! Love the review and love Your Smile! Keep it Up!
Curious - when would you want to have the power set to front bias? seems a bit counterproductive?
Got mine in black. That circuit edition is the one to get. In that color, it's not available until next year here
Love the large infotainment system, manual dimming mirror and the omission of an arm rest! The hollow door shut and horn sounds fantastic too!
Keep crying. One day you may be able to afford it.
@@jeanblue8424 i30n much better package for the price
@@elmin2323 No. The GRC is a far better looking car inside and out. The interior of the I30N is tragic. The sunroof option is good though. BTW you can't even buy an I30N as they have stopped taking orders.
@@jeanblue8424 you can I just did just ring around dealera btw looks are subjective the rest isn't hehe!
Yes the door sounded very tinny
Hey, can you get Atko to fling this and the Yaris around. And yeh why not chuck in a WRX?
Just got my Circuit Edition, this car is so special to drive but I would have liked a less showy exterior. Find all the driving inputs really good, clutch is on the heavy side for the commute.
HAHA love the reverse performance test. Straight-cut gears in reverse with a longer ratio. You never see anyone test reverse speed usually LOL.
Aim to please!
@@CarExpertAus HAHA that's the way!
Hi Paul, could you please do a review of the LDV D90 vs Haval H9?
Will you be doing a similar review on the ZR hybrid 2023? I can only see 2020.
Hi Paul, out of this GR and the GR Yaris, which was more comfortable to use as a tall driver?
Corolla 😁
Now we need to see a drag race and comparison for all this car’s competitors
Toyota GR Corolla vs Hyundai i30 N Performance package compared/comparison. 🤔
Good to see Seth MacFarlane reviewing cars. I'd like to hear the review in Stewies voice please :)
hey paul when are you reviewing hyundai i30 2023
Got mine 5 days ago now. Fully loaded core
How much?
As close to a modern WRX/EVO as we're going to get, which is no bad thing! But for approx. $70k driveaway I think the interior is a bit low-rent and the lack of tech, comfort and features is noticeable when compared to a Golf R or Civic Type R.
Maybe this would make alot more sense at around $50k on the used market in a few years.
It looks amazing but that price is just crazy. Also really impractical because it's so small... wish I was a multi millionaire.
That was fun.
Love to see comparison with i30 N, Type R and Megane RS Trophy as manuals ☝️
I30N is too slow to keep up with the best
@@shanusiri6612 Where are you getting that preconception from? A Manual i30N is not much slower at all to 100 and the DCT is quicker??
@@shanusiri6612 Not really
@@shanusiri6612 and i30N needs to go on a diet.
I just passed one yesterday in Florida on i95 and it looked amazing. I just can’t imagine spending 70k for a Corolla.
It’s not 70k usd
Its 35k. 40k with all the packages.
Not an ordinary Corolla
They should make an estate version as the golf also has the golf r estate. This is too cramped for me
Love this car...
This thing is beyond cool, I absolutely love the tri-exhausts. Too bad they cheaped out on the interior again (mainly the infotainment screen)
Great review, made me laugh at 14:45.
14:41 I did not expect that bit of strong language 😂😂😂😂😂
Even vw gti doesnt make paul smile like that when hes driving this monster GR
Hi Paul, Does Toyota cover track warranty? I know that Hyundai N cars is covered for track use.
Nope, too scared
@@brycem0 what's the point of buying $70k car when you can't even track it to enjoy the fun and excitement.
GREAT review 😄👍✨
But: WRX for me for sure.. NO DOUBT 😎👍✨
Has Car Expert actually done a video review of MK8 Golf R? Can only see GTi video.
Nice car. I think there's better choices in the class for an all round daily / performance hatch though.
i have a 2022 corolla sedan and the rear view camera at night is quite poor. probably would be the same issue here.
Great review as usual! but what's the point of putting a car on sale when and every dealer Ive contacted refuses to sell one to the public? I've owned several Toyota Lexus products and that's still not good enough to be able to purchase one from my dealer. Honestly this purchase model is a flippers dream, those who gave Toyota lots of money are allowed to make even more from buying and flipping this.
Could you do a comparison with one of these and a manual bmw M140i. I’ve got my name down for a Corolla gr but with your review im second guessing selling my bmw for one
Random question...what's the background music at 24:20 onwards?
Any chance to drag race it vs Focus RS?
Love the show called. I’ve been trying to get one think Toyota stuffed this one up every dealer you ring that on even want to know about the car. I don’t even know why you are doing the review to be honest don’t get me wrong. I love the show. Good on your mate.
Speak English as you made zero sense!
At that price point, a Kia Stinger would be a better value/performance/daily drive proposition. The only thing this has going for it, is that it is available in a manual transmission.
Good grief, this car is the same price as the Kia Stinger in Australia?😮
That seems like madness to me.
We don't get this car in the UK, something which annoys me greatly, but if they're charging silly money for it, then we're not missing much.
Those rear brakes are twin piston just like the GR Yaris., and it also makes the same torque as the yaris.
The bonnet 'grills' look like the stick on type available from a well known site.
hello from australia vic can you review the civic type r fl5
Toyota doesn't disappoint! Too bad not many will be shipped to Australia. Surely a collector's item.
Do you reckon it’s it worth double the money of a mk8.5 fiesta ST?
I would strongly recommend people watching the US guys do a review on the car as they found the brakes lacking for track use.
Now this will definitely stand out in a crowd of all the boring SUV's and crossovers in the market, and be more fun
I simply luv it Cape Town South Africa
Any hot hatch in a Manual is the collectors drivers car of the future.. who is going to want to drive a quiet smooth single gear EV for fun…. Any of these I30N, civic Type R, any toyota GR, BRZ, wrx is a win in my book.
Are these coming to the UK?
Beast mode Corolla!
70k and you get the same seats as a 36k ZR only with a GR logo......ooooooo so special
Wait wait wait! No drift mode?
You didn’t even attempt the 30:70 power delivery donuts.
Come on you drifted the Raptor the first chance you get. I wanna see this thing getting it’s tail out!
Those bonnet vents RS focus much. Looks fat as. Sounds awesome. For the price point the interior is a bit dated. Besides the 12” full customisable display ahead of the driver. You can see where most of the R&D went. Overall awesome video Paul. When can we see something on the new Wildtrak X.
Time for these hot hatch manufactures to get together and create a televised race series.
