I realize it's cheesy to comment about it here, but thank you. I've had a really hard time taking care of my teeth for years, largely because I struggle with depression and ADHD, but after watching a LOT of your videos, I've finally kicked myself in the butt and been able to make myself do it. I don't know for sure how good I am at it, but I've been flossing every night for the first time in my entire life, and I'm proud to say that my gums have almost completely stopped bleeding. Before now, I can't remember a time that I was able to just brush my teeth without it being a bloody mess, let alone flossing. My teeth aren't magically perfect now, but they're doing so much better, and it feels great. Thank you Bentist.

Also, Vitamin k2 to not only reduce bone loss but also helps remineralize teeth and activates regeneration of dentin, which is very important if there is a cavity that is deep enough to reach it (and should be filled by a dentist), and sodium bicarbonate can help with gum issues. Then there is tooth mousse which can remineralize within the tooth enamel while hydroxyapatite only helps with the surface remineralization.
Well probably. But you also need research and discipline. It may even be a fair bet to say that if you have his wealth, you won't be spending it on your health care. Your money won't do sht to fix your teeth if you're going to spend it on recreative drugs...or food (particularly sweet stuff like soda).
@@DarthNVious drugs can be expensive but 2 mil is more than enough to improve someone's life and afford some drugs and soda. As a trans woman I could afford to complete my transition with only 20,000. The trouble is finding that money, since you can't get loans for it and saving is one of the hardest things a human can do these days. I have a tooth I need to get removed and that costs little to nothing. If you live in Canada you can get a lot of your dental work covered so it doesn't need to cost a million dollars
My dad had head and neck cancer twice, and he had to have his mandible and salivary glands removed, and chemo and radiation. No one told us how absolutely terrifying oral care is after having radiation. Could you please do a vid on care after radiation?
Dear Dr Bentist, I wanted to address that part at 1:55 “people don’t like pain.” I used to work in a dental lab. I surprised to learn from the owners son that dentistry had one of the highest suid rates of almost any profession. The kid said he thought it was partly attributed to the fact that dentists have to inflict pain/trauma for proper healing and that nobody wants to come see them ever! I’m happy you’ve found a speciality and platform that allows you to enjoy positive patient interactions and share your dental genius to us peasants.😊
I always thought it was because they strive for perfection and having to stare into imperfect stinkin ass mouths every day was too much for a lot of them.
I heard the same thing about 15 or so years ago and that report did say that the leading cause for this was the fact that almost every other human that they come into contact with tells them how much they hate the dentist. However recently I heard that the latest data showed that here in Australia that construction workers, ambulance and fire services have taken the top place. It is incredibly sad that people’s jobs can cause them so much stress they are driven to such drastic measures! I can’t help but wonder if advances in dentistry have made going to the dentist a lot more comfortable than it used to be has played a role in improving the average lifespan of dentists? What ever the reason is I’m glad it’s working
I wonder about being exposed to the mercury when drilling old fillings? I am a photographer, and old time/early photographic processes used mercury. (As did hat making) Many people went crazy form the mercury fumes. Just a thought. I go to a “holistic” dentist who takes lot of cautions when removing old fillings.
I think the high rate like he said $400,000 in school debt and there is no way ur making that as a dentist in a lifetime u cant afford ur school debt with all the pressure of being a dentist dealing with the low dose of laughing gas leaking in the room handling mercury causes pain drowning in debt as usually pick high matinance wives who don't put out and go insane as they have pretty girls working in the office and they physically touch other people all day long so accused of being a pedo or other because people are nuts women in general who think every man wants them so they get accused of things they never do and I watched a thing on the shinny study so Ted bundy was sexually attracted to the bloody insides of organs because the shinny like a women's inside vagaina an inside a mouth is simular so maybe over time they have stress fighting the erge to want to murder people or have sex with the inside of there mouths I think ti's the debt mainly though
I went to the dentist for the first time in 12 years. Doc said they were perfectly fine, aside from some minor staining. I’m still stunned I didn’t have any cavities still.
In my 10yrs as a DA, dentists are mixed on tongue scraping. Some say theres no need for it as the tongue has its on ecosystem type thing and regenerates and renews on its own. Also most bad breath is due to gut health not necessarily the state of your mouth unless youve got an infection or perio or are a smoker etc. In my 10yrs thats been pretty spot on. I know people whove looked after their teeth crazy well but their breath stinks. Gut health and or illness can do that.
I try to take care as best as I can of my gut health and my oral health, but there's no way I wouldn't brush my tongue... I hate the after taste if, for example, I ate outside and haven't been able to brush my teeth for a few hours. It's disgusting. Some white plaque starts to build up if you don't clean it. I prefer to clean everything (teeth all around and tongue) and of course, floss 😛. Thank God I don't have bad breath lol 🙏🏽
I used to have terrible breath as a child. I was also extremely malnourished-not because I wasn’t being fed, but food refusal. I just didn’t want to eat for most of my childhood because of medicine I was taking. It left me with “starvation breath” and made me feel even more awful than I already did. It only stopped when I put on weight in college and became healthy.
I have a paralyzed stomach and a condition called cyclic vomiting syndrome and keeping my teeth healthy is so hard especially as someone who does not have dental insurance because the state thinks that after the age of 21 you no longer need dental or vision care and because I’m on disability I cannot afford regular dental or eye insurance.
I went my whole life fighting to take care of my teeth and at 38 finally discovered this was the reason. As a kid I loved going to the dentist and taking care of my teeth, only to find out I kept getting cavities. At 18 my ADHD and depression started affecting my hygiene but also no longer had insurance so I stopped eating sweets. At 21 my childhood fillings needed to be replaced and had 2 molars die and extracted. I got insurance 25+ but still couldn't afford root canal crowns. Had a kid, teeth got brittle and postnatal depression and by 30 had 4-5 more molars removed. I now have 3 molars left, 1 bottom right that a charity dentist did a free root canal and crown, 1 top right with metal filling but has a cavity, and top left broken dead now beyond needing extraction. Molar extraction is rough and my dentist doesn't feel comfortable with it so I got referred out but have no one to watch kids 😮💨. My dental hygiene has improved so much since my depression and ADHD are treated and content like this made me realize how much of a problem I have and only prevention I can control. It's hard to eat and I don't know what else to do, will I need dentures? 😮💨 Wish doctors or dentists would have known about checking for this condition a long time ago. I'm worried for my children's teeth now

My dentist and my doctor told me there was no reason to avoid fluoride, I have even been prescribed high fluoride toothpaste and it worked like a dream for me reversing some early tooth decay and helping me avoid future cavities.
In my city of 500,000 people, City Hall has decided that fluoride is not good for people. It dumbs them down as it is a poison for the human body. Thankfully, they are on top of all the research on fluoride, and they refused to put it in our water. 😁😁😁😁
Fluoride also Co tributes to intestinal diseases like chronic disease and ibs. I was prescribed fluoride and learned it is toxic so I threw that crap out.
I switched to nano hydoroxiapaptate… blah blah 2 years ago. My teeth look and feel better (and I have permanent gum loss etc). This is the standard in Japan, which actually cares about the health of their citizens. I wish I could stop clenching. That’s really ruining my teeth :/ I’ve tried it all. The night guards that are hard have worn away the opposite teeth, especially my once awesome canines. Ima try this somnodent
So that device is just a bandaid. It pulls your jaw forward in order to breathe. The reason why your airway is compromised is because your tongue falls back into your throat. What you should look into is called myofunctional therapy. What it does is train your muscles to hold your tongue in the proper placement (which is suctioned to the roof of your mouth. The device is likely to cause TMJ issues.

Biological dentistry is leaps ahead because unlike mainstream medicine it's not all about profit, treatments, chemicals, meds, and procedures. Fixing things at the root with holistic options doesn't make this country money which is why the state if health all around oral or otherwise is as bad as it is sadly!
The corporations and money lobbying that put laws in place like how USA still uses flouride when places like Japan have moved onto the much healthier and better preforming hydroxyapatite. It's all money honey. Profit over quality. Boils down to that every time.

Yeah, I don’t think his flosser is anything to write home about. Certainly doubting the claim that he was first to the market with a pulsating, water flossing machine.
If anyone has sensitive teeth and gums like me, an amazing soft toothbrush is the Nimbus toothbrush. I found out about them from my son's pediatric dentist. They were originally made for autistic kids because they're the softest toothbrushes on the market. Ive used the adult ones for years and now can't use anything else. The past three cleanings my hygienist didn't have to do anything and she said I had no plaque or tartar. The bristes get into thr guns and deep clean. They're affordable too. 😊
Brushing ... over the years, every dentist I've had has given their "way to brush" talk and they've all been different. Even from one year to the next with the same dentist. They all promote fluoride. In the past, even if I've done every single thing they'd recommended, they'd still do that sort of, "Are you SURE you're doing this, that and the other?", which proved to me that their way simply doesn't work, so I've learned to just nod and agree and then completely ignore them. One of the things I do, after using two types of floss, interdental picks, non-fluoride toothpaste on a manual brush (changed regularly - ditched electric), is simply gently use a finger nail along the gumline and across the teeth, especially at the back. No matter how much you do all of the first stuff, you'll still find more gunk. I sometimes do an extra clean with bicarb (baking soda in the US), use Xylitol and do salt rinses and coconut oil pulling. I don't use a tongue scraper - there's always room for improvement.
There's a Japanese brand that was a bit ahead of the game on nano-hypoxyapatite toothpastes called Apagard. It's like $15 a tube, but with one person, I think 2 get me about 6 months or so and I double checked the specs and at least the Premio is at a 10% solution.. I also, like this guy, do brush with a different toothpaste once a week, one with fluoride, just in case. Also floss every night, and I don't know how much better or worse it is, but I brush my tongue with my toothbrush and that seems to work pretty well.
Can you do an in-depth video of the benefits of hydroxyapatite vs fluoride citing studies on both sides and why you chose hydroxyapatite over fluoride for your toothpaste. Online, the general consensus I've seen from dentists is that fluoride is the way to go (usual reasons being that scarcity and length of evidence for hydroxyapatite). I'd appreciate a professional non-bias video presentation convey your case.
Electric toothbrush is better to clean wisdom teeth. I tried cleaning them with a regular brush and you knock on the bone at the back a lot. Making it really hard to clean your wisdom teeth properly. Electric toothbrush doesn't need to be moved as much so it's more effective is tight spaces.
What should come first? Brushing or Flossing? I have started to floss first because I believe it will make the bristels of the toothbrush reach more area. Is this true or does it not matter?
Not sure if there's one from him where he says, but I watched another video from a dentist about how to floss properly, and in it she said that you should floss first because you're loosening and pulling plaque out, then you brush it away when you brush your teeth. I think her point was that if you do it after, you may be leaving some plaque on your teeth that you got out, but didn't stay on the floss. Hope that helps!
My grandmother beat the teeth grinding out of me. I did it when I was a kid and it scared the heck of her. She would hit me so hard while I was sleeping. I almost forgot about that. She never beat me for anything but that. 😂 she has dementia now. Love you mom-mom
ADHD and depression meds are also horrible for your teeth. Cause dry mouth / thirst which causes gums to recede. This exposes the roots to what acids you bath your teeth in. Citric acid like Mt Dew or lemonade, or phosphoric acid like all other sodas. Not sure what the solution is. I just know that as soon as I started taking my meds my mood and ability to concentrate went up, but teeth went to heck. :(
tongue scrapers are an unnecessary product... my dad taught me at a young age to use my toothbrush and brush my tongue after brushing. I didn't understand it until recently but it's always been a part of my routine.
I’m 60 and as a child my parents weren’t that into oral care. When I started school, we had free dental care, so I had extracted a couple of baby molars with holes in them. No, they were rotten. They started with fluoride mouthwash at my school every week, and I think that saved my teeth more than anything. Later on I got lot of caries in molars, and in these days they used amalgamation. I held for many years but it weakened the tooth, so they broke. Now I’m 60. I lost 3 molars from 45 to 55 y, and late was diagnosed with periodontitis and had to go hard on. Over the years I had to replace some of the amalgam with plastic resin. Now I’m quite happy with my teeth, but missing 2 molars in my right side under, and 1 molar left side up. As how it is now I’m happy with it but I need regular follow ups at the dentist. I am allergic to chlorhexedine, so I use hydrogen peroxide as mouthwash instead. Edit: I also found out, that the use of fluoride toothpaste wit my children since they got the first tooth have strengthened the enamel. One of my kids had a drug addiction for some years, and even she stopped taking care of her oral health for years, she haven’t had any big issues but tiny caries attacks. I think the use of fluoride is very important from a young age.
Fluoride is a neuro-toxic industrial by-product - toxic waste, if you will. I'd be careful using hydrogen peroxide in your mouth. I know a lot do, but it's going to kill ALL the bacteria in your mouth, even the good ones and might weaken the enamel. Better to use Xylitol, which is curtains for bad bacteria. Salt water rinses are really good too. I wouldn't touch the vast majority of mouth washes on the market with a barge pole. Look into (organic/food quality) coconut oil pulling. There are also some very strong studies on this showing its ability to kill the "communicable" bad bacteria in the mouth. It's really easy - just takes a bit of getting used to - isn't massively unpleasant and tastes quite nice. It just takes ages, though, which is why I don't do it all the time.
I have an oral aversion with mint flavored toothpaste and i finally found a fluoridated toothpaste thats watermelon flavor and ive been way more consistent with brushing my teeth. I always watch the bentist when im brushing my teeth haha 😅
I have reversed with baking soda. Hydrogen peroxide and coconut oil. And i still do not keep up with them like i should. The rotating brushes really help 2. A water pick you attach to your faucet is great
I have had chipped and cracked teeth my whole life.. I'm so used to "you have a cavity" because once you get gunk in that good. It's doneso. I was told by my folks it began when I was 3 and fell and hit my mouth on the coffee table, knocking out #7 through #10 and cracking others. Then I played baseball in a league and street football at home then fought a ton during middle and highschool. So my permanent teeth were getting cracked as soon as I had them. Got any tips for me so I can stop losing them? Already lost 1, 11, 14, 16, 30 and have a crown on 21 and 22 is almost drilled in half from the back to front.
I hope he sees and give you real, professional advice, but I do know that cracks can show up way, way later. My grandma used to chew ice all the time until her mid-forties, but the cracks didn't start showing up until at least ten years later. She's had 4-6 teeth pulled because they cracked and part of them fell out, or they were getting cavities. And they're still showing up. The last one she lost was just a couple of months ago, and she's 70 now. Bentist seems to be pretty on top of any new things, so maybe there are some new methods that can help, but I know for her, it doesn't seem like there's another option. I'm sorry that you're dealing with that, man, good luck.
Almost similar with teeth cracked but had vitamin deficiency and acid reflux/vomiting syndrome undiagnosed until 30. 38 and only have 2 molars left, 1 dead and needs extraction but always poor so I could only do extraction so I started getting depressed about oral care. I hope he has something to say. I think dentures might be in my future way too soon 😮💨😖

I love this so much because I'm a dental assistant hoping to become a dental Hygienist and I have done perio charting, but didn't necessarily understand it until this video. Love educating myself!
Disagree with you on nano hydroxyapatite. It’s shown promise for potentially remineralizing as well as fluoride, but it doesn’t measure up to fluoride on other benefits, like protecting from acid. Plus it’s a lot more expensive and not ADA accepted. Disappointed in you, Bentist!
Question, dose your toothpaste have coconut oil? I have a very sensitive mouth and have struggled with canker sores my whole life. After trying all sorts of toothpastes, I have found that the Hello, specifically the white and green tube, works the best for me. The coconut oil is the only thing that sets it apart.
My gums went from 4's to 5's with some 3's to all 1's and 2's in 6 months with oil pulling 2 to 3 times a days and water flossings. My dentist wanted me to get a deep clean and I said Ill be back after 5-6 months and will see if I still need it. She told me the oil pulling was pointless, but I wanted to try. She was so impressed she now promotes it to all her patients. She doesn't tell people to do instead of deep cleans she just adds it's on with everything else. I just went in for a cleaning and my gums are perfect. No more periodontal disease whatsoever.
Thank you for all of your highly beneficial advice. My dentist told me to brush longer and not harder, for at least 2-4 minutes because he said I was brushing too hard and removing my enamel. Just wondering about how hard you should brush. I go light and long, especially to kill that mouth bug that causes bad breath.

Grinding your teeth at night is a neurological issue, yes, but there’s also a high correlation between episodes of grinding and episodes of sleep apnea/airway obstruction. So if you’re a heavy grinder, there’s a very good chance your airway is collapsing in your sleep - the grinding activates the muscles and helps open it up. The appliance Brian is wearing stops the grinding, but also opens up his airway for him.

(As did hat making)
Many people went crazy form the mercury fumes.
Just a thought.

Mercury in the air
This man is saving me from dying from my hygiene
This guy motivates me to stand up and brush my teeth every time I watch his videos.

the bentist has truly been a amazing creator in my life! my teeth will be squeaky clean thanks to his help! we love you bentist!
My dentist and my doctor told me there was no reason to avoid fluoride, I have even been prescribed high fluoride toothpaste and it worked like a dream for me reversing some early tooth decay and helping me avoid future cavities.
Fluoride hardens your enamel. That means it’s hard for bacteries to eat it a little bit but it’s easier to break it all the way (like a glass)…
In my city of 500,000 people, City Hall has decided that fluoride is not good for people. It dumbs them down as it is a poison for the human body. Thankfully, they are on top of all the research on fluoride, and they refused to put it in our water. 😁😁😁😁

Can someone with braces start using nano hydroxyapatite toothpaste? Or should they stick to fluoride until the braces come off?
I use both. Apply the nano-hydroxyapatite paste to the teeth afterwards, with a finger
The amount of slight plug ins were crazy....they weren't even slight lol. Great video though, I learned a lot. Thinking of picking up a water picker
Do it!! It’s a game changer
Can you do an in-depth video of the benefits of hydroxyapatite vs fluoride citing studies on both sides and why you chose hydroxyapatite over fluoride for your toothpaste.
Hope that helps!

tongue scrapers are an unnecessary product... my dad taught me at a young age to use my toothbrush and brush my tongue after brushing. I didn't understand it until recently but it's always been a part of my routine.
They are more effective than using your toothbrush obviously.

I love this so much because I'm a dental assistant hoping to become a dental Hygienist and I have done perio charting, but didn't necessarily understand it until this video. Love educating myself!
Dentist 🦷 do destroy the teeth! Just keep your teeth healthy! Especially in us .
Only infomercial I’m willing to actively watch 👏
Disagree with you on nano hydroxyapatite. It’s shown promise for potentially remineralizing as well as fluoride, but it doesn’t measure up to fluoride on other benefits, like protecting from acid. Plus it’s a lot more expensive and not ADA accepted. Disappointed in you, Bentist!
Indian Neem toothpaste is the absolute best. Nothing gets your mouth feeling cleaner. Would love to see the science behind why
You said you’ll show us the proper way to brush….
This motivated me to flossss
Omg, I am so excited for your toothpaste!!!!!
Can hardly wait for your version of the “nano” toothpaste!
Question, dose your toothpaste have coconut oil? I have a very sensitive mouth and have struggled with canker sores my whole life. After trying all sorts of toothpastes, I have found that the Hello, specifically the white and green tube, works the best for me. The coconut oil is the only thing that sets it apart.
as a dental student, I CAN'T WAIT to try your new toothpaste!
Just use regular toothpaste. Its all the same. If you want waste money go fir it.
You forgot to show us how to brush our teeth?
Thank you for all of your highly beneficial advice. My dentist told me to brush longer and not harder, for at least 2-4 minutes because he said I was brushing too hard and removing my enamel. Just wondering about how hard you should brush. I go light and long, especially to kill that mouth bug that causes bad breath.
lol, I love the "is this guy in an infomercial?" but then goes on to make this video literally an infomercial for Something Nice. xD
(with some mild self awareness a lil over 10 minutes in)
Grinding your teeth at night is a neurological issue, yes, but there’s also a high correlation between episodes of grinding and episodes of sleep apnea/airway obstruction. So if you’re a heavy grinder, there’s a very good chance your airway is collapsing in your sleep - the grinding activates the muscles and helps open it up. The appliance Brian is wearing stops the grinding, but also opens up his airway for him.
Also, stress
why is high pressure water bad on braces I do it every time and I hope you make the floss for braces to because my floss i use now always gets stuck on my hooks
There is already hydroxyapatite on the market.
Apadent is the original hydroxyapatite tooth paste that is recognised by the Japanese government as anti caries.
It is slightly expensive but is worth it.
5:48 kinda weird that I own a waterpik with 5 stream power settings huh?
