I just want to say due to suffering depression which made me neglect my teeth, having two broken teeth, and being afraid of the dentist for many years. After I found your channel and watching all your videos learning more about how dentistry and dental health, and your funny personality, I finally got the courage to see a dentist at a dental school. The dentist extracted my broken teeth and I'm going in for a deep cleaning in a couple of weeks. Thank you Bentist for helping me overcome my fear and not let depression make me neglect my health.
Is this a real story and not just a sob story for hits?? Omg if the former, I am SO proud of you; there are so many emotional layers at play that you totally blasted through and it proves you a courageous and quite possibly on a healing journey, now. YOU ARE INSPIRING.
@@grumblekin22no I'm being serious, I was scared to go because it gave me anxiety and I had two broken teeth which got worse the more I delayed it. My depression made me not care about my health on top of it. Took me years to get over my fear. I'm just grateful I found this channel. Now I only wish my dentist was as funny as him.😅
Purple food coloring is to stain the tooth a tad bit purple, it neutralizes any yellowing or yellow stains temporarily at least. The baking soda is just basically a cheap toothpaste substitute.
Its interesting how fluorosis makes your teeth super resistant to cavities...it reminds me of the remains of the Ancient city of Pompeii...their teeth were shockingly perfect as there was high levels of fluoride in the soil and water produced by the volcano that murdered them (alongside a low sugar diet)
@@Kat31017 Weirdly enough, eating a lot of honey and fruit seems to not actually matter as much as western societies say it may be. I'd have to double check to really get my point through but the tldr is, eating a lot of honey and fruit doesnt matter as long as you live the right kind of life style.
You do realise that the fluoride in water is not the same as the mineral from the ground. Fluoride put in water is a byproduct from aluminium, fertilizer, and iron ore manufacture.
I know you said the 'expander' thing doesn't hurt, but as someone who had one on the roof of their mouth and from personal experience it is super painful. I don't wish the ache on anyone that you experience a few days after having to crank it. It was an awful experience in high school and my entire braces experience for the years I had them in general was horrendous too. I'm amazed anyone would want them now. Lol.
totally! all of my pain was from the expander. after i got it off, i was so confused as to how ppl could say braces hurt. the palate expander numbed me to all mouth pain (which is both good and bad) 😭😭
Me too 😭 My mom had to turn the key thing to tighten it, which gave me the worst headaches I’ve ever experienced. And so painful to eat, I mostly had milkshakes and soup. 😭😭😭
I used to bite my nails until I got a 40 acre ranch with livestock. I will never put my fingers in my mouth again. I can scrub my hands, wear gloves, and still NO WAY.
For the teething issue, I recommend frozen fruit in these little popsicle-esq holder that fits around your little ones hand, it has a little lace like holder that opens up at the handle, worked on my little siblings, all 4 of em!(That was honestly shocking, they were REALLY picky about such finicky things as that!) Totally recommend it, it'll stay cold for a while longer too!
I had a palette expander as a teenager, along with braces, followed by jaw surgery, and retainers. Ever since the palette expander, I've been extra susceptible to brain freeze, so that's annoying. But I also found that my bottom retainer was causing my back teeth to ache constantly, even after consistent wear for multiple years, so I chose to stop wearing it. My bottom front teeth, of course, have rotated sideways some. I get the feeling the crowding is just too bad still. I've had my wisdom teeth removed too (they were completely sideways and buried) and still have pretty bad crowding on the lower teeth. I will say, I used to get a TON more cavities and broken fillings before I had jaw surgery. Turns out, it's not good to only use a couple molars in the back for everything and none of your other teeth.
I had severe juvenile depression as a child, and one thing I did was chew my nails. I didn't have the tacky-looking fake nails. I just chewed my natural nails until they bled. Thanks to having done that for many years, I now have sliding wear patterns on my incisal edges and marked tooth sensitivity because I have worn through to the dentin. This is No Fun at All, so even if you don't have tacky fake nails, you should still consider some counselling and behaviour mod if you chew your nails obsessively the way I did.
The nail thing is also super bad for your nails. A lot of the time it is rooted in people wanting acrylics but being lazy about taking care of them. After about 2-4 weeks (depending on how fast your nails grow and how hard you are on your hands) they start looking a bit rough, but people want to avoid having to go pay more to get them filled (maintained) for as long as possible, but the longer you wait the more likely one or more is to get to the point where you are tempted to pop it off. Problem is that often causes a fair amount of damage to your nail and nail bed. Not uncommon to see horrible infections develop that can have permanent and dire consequences. So, think carefully about if you are willing to do the maintenance before sitting down for a full set. Be honest about the time and money it will take. Do you have the $40+ and a spare hour or two every 2-4 weeks to keep them in great shape? When you decide you’re done with them, will you take the time and spend the money to have them ground down and soaked off safely? If not, then they aren’t for you.
I told my dentist about this channel. He chuckled when I told him about the “Turkey Teeth” reactions. I also told him this channel makes me more inclined to clean my teeth (especially after seeing some of those extreme calculus build up videos). As the Bentist keeps saying: BRUSH YO TEETH!!! Take care of them cause they’re the only ones you got!
The impressions!!! I once did actually trow up in the dentist chair while I was getting impressions taken. I remember the dental tech who was doing them them telling the dentist something along the lines of “she’s gonna blow!” 😂😂 It was so embarrassing though.
I remember being pregnant and had severe morning sickness. Had to take an impression on a patient and she started throwing up strawberries and I was so close to throwing up myself but i was able to keep myself together and did not throw up myself. It was rough. 🥴
I’ve been looking for something that will show me where my problem areas are in between appointments for quite awhile. Thanks to your videos, I now know that disclosure tablets are exactly what I need. Definitely going to stock up so I can have better appointments!
I know what it feels like to have my jaw dislocated completely. It's absolutely HORRIFING!!!! Let me just say there is a reason why they put people under for their wisdom tooth/teeth extraction.
I had just local anesthesia when I got my wisdom teeth removed and it was fine during the procedure. It's when the anesthetic wears off in a couple of hours, that's when hell begins.
Oh god I always thought i ruined my teeth because I also have those fluorosis spots and always thought that meant they become breakable or weak. My mom even thought that it's from not brushing enough even though i did everyday twice. Now I'm relieved.
1:02 as a person who doesnt care about tooth asthetics i am so jeallows for people with fluorosis, i have suffered from bad tooth health from all my life and there are people out there who are lucky enought to make it a minor inconvenience and several of those people actively want to get rid of it

13:20 i truly do not understand why any sane person would want braces, its been a while since i last used any, so i dont remember the feeling as vividly as when i used to have them, but one thing i know for sure is that i dont want to use them again, for i still remember the relief i felt when i finally took them off, after you get accustomed with the braces you dont feel it as much, but it really is annoying having this weird structure in your mouth and i only understood how bad it was when i finally took them off
i love you and highly appreciate u i love your videos theyre super helpful and informative i just really would like to see how u look like when u relax your eyebrows
The last part which is related to mewing or orthotropics is so interesting to me because I did see my peers with palatal expanders but it was rare like only 1 out of 10 of us would have it. I can confirm myself and others did end up with all those problems later on and made me feel like i just had a bad orthodontist that didn’t think i needed the expander. I’m now on the verge jaw surgery :/ It started as being unable to find someone to recreate my retainer, to tmj- not being to find anyone to make a night guard so i just got OTC to unfortunately seeing x-rays that showed I’m way too late for non invasive procedures. So I wonder why it’s so rare in the orthodontist world to use them (at least back then it was) because i do see how beneficial it was. Also the kids i knew who had the expanders wore their braces way longer than most so that could be why. Tldr! I hope you can talk about this mewing orthotropic thing.. devices and procedures related to it. The first part about braces stains made me sad bc no amount of brushing has ever got rid of them and they’re way more visible as i got older😭 All of this is starting to really make me regret the orthodontist I had..
You are the first one who explained flurosis to me or said the name. All my dentists just tell me I have beautiful teeth and I'm just nodding in disbelief because I know they are all patchy. My mother was advised to give floride capsules to me when I was a toddler. So thats why I have it.
I was going through youtube searching for advice before my molar extractions and i found this channel. This man has made me take extra super care of my teeth forever. This is a real influencer ❤❤❤❤
17:32 I honestly believe that due to bad orthodontic treatment when i was a kid, they made my jaw defect worse. I couldn't fully close my jaws/mouth because of these retainers, now i developed additionally a long face syndrome, that wasn't even an issue before the treatment... later, i was taken to a different orthodontist where they extracted my healthy tooth and moved and tilted my upper teeth to match my underdeveloped jaw (it was growing down because i couldn't close my mouth for several years). I had speech issues because of this, and recently joint issues. Now I'm on my journey to undo/decompensate what they did to me and finally get a surgery... The pain due to joint issues made me vomit. Luckily, I got an occlusal splint, and it helps, but that's not a long-term solution. Honestly, i wish they left me alone when i was a kid, i might have less issues than i have now, and the journey to get the surgery would be much easier.
The old impression kits were disgusting. My dentist, when I was a kid, used to over fill the tray, then tell me not to swallow. When I started gagging, he’d tell me that if I puked he’d just have to start over…. Dude was a sadist and hated kids. So much childhood trauma from him. 14:26. Oral thrush, also known as an oral yeast infection. Anyone who has asthma and uses an inhaler has had thrush at least once. That girl whoever has a very severe case. As in, she ignored the early signs and did not treat it when she had the chance.
I have super sensitive teeth, probably a side effect from my EDS, and I feel uncomfortable whenever I see someone chewing on ice or biting down on something really cold or hot! I'm using toothpaste for sensitive teeth but I'm still super sensitive and don't really know what to do about it so any useful tips are welcome. And btw, I've had braces and they are NOT pain free! The days after putting in a new thread/arch or whatever it's called I couldn't chew at all and then all my teeth would make a cracking sound when biting down hard and the pain would decrease every day from there. I think I changed the thread like every 2 weeks in the beginning so just when the pain had gone away almost completely it was time for a new adjustment
He really helped a lot when it was a few days before braces but now I already got them on, its only been 6-7 months with them on and I get them off the day before holloween!!! So on Halloween when I trick or treat, I can eat anything☺☺☺☺
You can get thrush if you go into several comas too. No one brushes your teeth for you when you're in a coma 😅 or sick in the hospital. And typically elderly people, mental health patients and disabled patients don't have help or reminding/prompting either.
My daughter had issues with breastfeeding. My grandson was having problems latching on. She finally went to a breastfeeding nurse, I am sure they have a better name, and they found that my grandson had an upper lip tie! He was two months old and they layered it. After that she had no problem breastfeeding!
6:13 I just had a realization there, mine is oddly close the top of my fronts and it caused that small gap in my teeth.. Dunno I used to place cards in it and scare my classmates back when I got em
15:47 UM as someone who had a pallet expander, it absoLUTEly did hurt 😂 it wasn’t the MOST painful orthodontia I had (that would probably be head gear, mostly bc I had to try and sleep in it) and I don’t say that to scare anyone who might need this- it’s not unmanageable, but it definitely did hurt. And I generally have a pretty high pain threshold, so I don’t think I was being overly dramatic about it
My mom brushes with baking soda her whole adult life & has beautiful teeth & gums. Her dentist actually complimented her gums & asked what her routine was.
I showed my little brother one of ur videos so that he will start to brush his teeth more, cause I asked him how many times he has brushed his teeth, and he said only 10 times a month…..
Had a teeth dream where i looked in the mirrior, teeth were normal then did the motion of pulling retainer off except had no retainer, instead all my teeh slipped off as one connected unit and there was just black rotting stubs underneath. Craziest teeth dream ive had
I had a lip-tie but while I was playing with my cousins, my knee hit my mouth where the lip-tie was and then I busted my lip-tie off so basically I got free surgery hehe.........
5:22 I had this when I was 7-8… so basically baby’s suck on there thumb you know, and I did it to but with the pointer finger. I sucked on my pointer finger since I was 0-6.. and then it caused my teeth to take a LONGGGG time to grow in, because of sucking my finger. I had to lose my teeth around my 2 front teeth because there was no room for them to grow in.. Now it’s all fixed scar is not that bad. And if your wondering I got my braces at 8 and now I’m 11
This patient's experience with the scanner is that the height of the tooth is not determined, just how it sits on the gums. If your dentist doesn't care about cosmetics, the top of the tooth will not necessarily match the rest. Didn't happen with the 'goop'.
To add to oral thrush! It can be caused by, or made more likely to happen, if you're taking antibiotics. I had some gnarly bronchitis so I was prescribed both an inhaler and antibiotics. Not only did I get oral thrush, but I got a "lower" yeast infection too. :') Between the bronchitis, feeling sick from antibiotic side effects, and double candida infections--- I was NOT happy lmao.

I have had dental impressions so many times due to cleft lip and Pallett. I learned to avoid major gag reflex, I would lift the back of my tongue to keep it feeling like it would go back too far.
Its the lady from the ring!!! run! I said out loud louder than normal 'What the F!!' and my wife came up into the room and said 'what weird shit are you watching on youtube this time?' lol 😂😂
ONE THING ABOUT GAG REFLEX!!! I tend to have gag reflex since I first get my impression, and now quite a lot when eating weird-textured food. The ONE THING one dentist told me to do to reduce the reflex is: BREATHE IN, slowly. Keep your lungs filled up and take short-medium but SLOW breaths. It has worked ever since, I sincerely hope it works for you too~
Speaking of lip ties, one of my baby brothers was born tongue tied. It went all the way to the tip of his tongue. It runs in his dad's (my stepdad's) family. They snipped it right after he was born so he could eat & (later) speak.
I'm an NHS dental nurse in the UK and we still have to take these impressions for denutres and nightguards (we don't do ortho in our practice) and I mix algenate at least 20 times a day. The stuff is vile and I have seen more gagging than I care to mention!
I might be really weird but I've always enjoyed the gooey impressions 😂felt really relaxing idk I'm weird I want it done that way if I ever need to again😅
when i played football and got into a jam, my helmet would always dislocate my jaw. i’d have to fix it using my face muscles. it was scary until it became normal 😂
The kid throwing up reminds me of myself when i went to the dentist. Here kids would always be given this fluoride paste wich was nasty as shit (later on they also had flavours wich were even worse especially the chocolate one) and i would always panic because it made me gag so badly i would panic
I had braces and an expander at the same time. I actually had my braces early like 3/4th grade because all my wisdom teeth were pushing through, I had an underbite and there wasn't enough room in the back of my mouth. But now I have my hollywood smile ❤lol
I had my frenum removed due to a gap after I had braces. My orthotist wanted it done after I got my braces off but while I was still wearing my retainer full time. They turned out great she did an amazing job on my teeth. The oral surgeon liked my teeth so much.
My dentist still uses those goopy impression things xd. It smells and tastes like those kids bubblegums so i don't mind. But when the dentist always pulls it out it just clacks through the whole clinic and i'm always like oh no is everybody staring at me because of the sound? And then i calm myself thinking oh hey it's a normal sound and it happens all the time! xd

As in, she ignored the early signs and did not treat it when she had the chance.
mahito would do that
my daddy broke a tooth off his front flipper and super glued it back on a few times in the 90's. He has had the same flipper since the early 80's.
I still get impressions and even though i need to gag I’m like”please don’t do that until your done”
2:55 how sad! I got to keep my teeth before & after impressions when I got out of braces! They’re my most expensive Halloween decoration❤
I'm getting braces in 2 days and your vids really help
My daughter had issues with breastfeeding. My grandson was having problems latching on. She finally went to a breastfeeding nurse, I am sure they have a better name, and they found that my grandson had an upper lip tie! He was two months old and they layered it. After that she had no problem breastfeeding!
I want him to be my dentist. Seriously. Like. Teleport to my dentist and replace him now 😃
6:13 I just had a realization there, mine is oddly close the top of my fronts and it caused that small gap in my teeth..
14:56
"...it really isn't painful at all..."
I have one, it is very painful when cranked. 😭
8:03 I once had a dream like that, but the teeth were twisting and turning around and one of the teeth actually fell out, like the WHOLE tooth.
7:51 Except…she wasn’t using glue. She was using UV resin. Nothing is coming out of hardened resin especially the holo glitter she used.
17:53 bro you scared the shit out of me 😅😅
Bro fr I thought my phone was broken
I showed my little brother one of ur videos so that he will start to brush his teeth more, cause I asked him how many times he has brushed his teeth, and he said only 10 times a month…..
......
3:30 Funniest Dentist Alive💀😂😭
Had a teeth dream where i looked in the mirrior, teeth were normal then did the motion of pulling retainer off except had no retainer, instead all my teeh slipped off as one connected unit and there was just black rotting stubs underneath. Craziest teeth dream ive had
We still use the goop, when I got my retainers, I gagged so much they had to numb my mouth down.
I had a lip-tie but while I was playing with my cousins, my knee hit my mouth where the lip-tie was and then I busted my lip-tie off so basically I got free surgery hehe.........
Hi bentist I love your vids and I always follow your advice 😊 I always wished I can meet you
17:25 usually people who bite off their nails with their teeth or fingers expeeience anxiety
4:50 DURPLE DID THAT NO WAY-
The wiggling teeth video got me. 😮 I have dentures and it still made me wanna throw up and then aggressively floss my "teeth". 🤣🤣🤣
I have the thing ur talking about at the beginning (my mind forgets to fast) and I remember kids in high school asking me why are my teeths so dirty😭
That gag reflex story is so true, I still remember my good old days😂
“PHHHHUHHHH” this guy is hilarious 😂
Bro I remember when I was a kid, the dentist had to make an impression for my retainers. I VOMITED ALL THE INSTANT NOODLES I ATE IN THE MORNING.
Boo to your parents for feeding you instant noodles for breakfast
5:22 I had this when I was 7-8… so basically baby’s suck on there thumb you know, and I did it to but with the pointer finger. I sucked on my pointer finger since I was 0-6.. and then it caused my teeth to take a LONGGGG time to grow in, because of sucking my finger. I had to lose my teeth around my 2 front teeth because there was no room for them to grow in.. Now it’s all fixed scar is not that bad. And if your wondering I got my braces at 8 and now I’m 11
The capcut outro got me dead, i rlly did not expect that 💀😭
This patient's experience with the scanner is that the height of the tooth is not determined, just how it sits on the gums. If your dentist doesn't care about cosmetics, the top of the tooth will not necessarily match the rest. Didn't happen with the 'goop'.
So you mean to tell me, her prosthetic jaw was looking how Kanye's jaw was looking before the "Through The Wire"? 😮😵😩😅😅😅
To add to oral thrush! It can be caused by, or made more likely to happen, if you're taking antibiotics. I had some gnarly bronchitis so I was prescribed both an inhaler and antibiotics. Not only did I get oral thrush, but I got a "lower" yeast infection too. :')
Between the bronchitis, feeling sick from antibiotic side effects, and double candida infections--- I was NOT happy lmao.
Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
Rockin' around the Christmas tree
At the Christmas party hop
Mistletoe hung where you can see
Every couple tries to stop
Rockin' around the Christmas tree
Let the Christmas spirit ring
Later we'll have some pumpkin pie
And we'll do some caroling
You will get a sentimental feeling
When you hear
Voices singing, "Let's be jolly" (ooh)
Deck the halls with boughs of holly
Rockin' around the Christmas tree
Have a happy holiday
Everyone dancing merrily
In the new old-fashioned way
You will get a sentimental feeling
When you hear
Voices singing, "Let's be jolly" (ooh)
Deck the halls with boughs of holly
Rockin' around the Christmas tree
Have a happy holiday
Everyone dancing merrily
In the new old-fashioned way (aah)
Where is thanks giving it’s November not december
The palatal expander does hurt. I remember my sister lying on the couch crying every two weeks because of this thing.
My dentist still uses the goop for impressions. And for the last 20 years I have not even seen a dentist, just a dental assistant
Xylitol keeps the germs in your mouth out..no need for flossing
Check dr ellie Phillip's on that one
Floss for stuff between teeth
OMG I LOVE UR VIDEOSSS
2:58 I remember doing this when I had my retainers post braces...thought my teeth were going to come out lol.
How do u brush ur teeth when u have braces? My friend is new with it she doesn’t know how to brush plus she doesn’t like flossing
when i played football and got into a jam, my helmet would always dislocate my jaw. i’d have to fix it using my face muscles. it was scary until it became normal 😂
8:23 ✨WiBbLy JiBbLy✨
Bentist: “There’s one who’d just let the world burn”
Me: “I’D LET THE WORLD BURRNNN FOR YOU 💀💀💀
1:04 I have that now I know what it’s called
5:34 OMG I had NO idea that was called teething 😮😮😮😮
The kid throwing up reminds me of myself when i went to the dentist. Here kids would always be given this fluoride paste wich was nasty as shit (later on they also had flavours wich were even worse especially the chocolate one) and i would always panic because it made me gag so badly i would panic
2:40 The place I went to when I had braces had these and they asked me what flavor I wanted and I chose watermelon!.. *it was not watermelon*
I get mouth sores regularly, always when my immune system is doing worse, they're stupidly painful.
16:34 i will bite my nails unintentionally due to anxiety sometimes
18:08 I had a good sized palate 😊 I also had a massive gap on my teeth......... 😒 for which I used braces
I had braces and an expander at the same time. I actually had my braces early like 3/4th grade because all my wisdom teeth were pushing through, I had an underbite and there wasn't enough room in the back of my mouth. But now I have my hollywood smile ❤lol
“You gots to see it thru my boy” 😭😭
the first photo in the thumbnail was a thing that could give you a heart attack
I had my frenum removed due to a gap after I had braces. My orthotist wanted it done after I got my braces off but while I was still wearing my retainer full time. They turned out great she did an amazing job on my teeth. The oral surgeon liked my teeth so much.
My dentist still uses those goopy impression things xd. It smells and tastes like those kids bubblegums so i don't mind. But when the dentist always pulls it out it just clacks through the whole clinic and i'm always like oh no is everybody staring at me because of the sound? And then i calm myself thinking oh hey it's a normal sound and it happens all the time! xd
