Fun video, great! I am still figuring out Dodo. Thanks for the help. I do love Rising Phoenix. Rose Musk and Sicilian Vanilla are two of my favorites from this house.
I'm wearing this now, and it pains me to say that an up close sniff gives me an unpleasant scent memory I can't quite place. I agree with your observations: I'm getting fern, and some salty animalic note, waiting for the die down, hoping for some of that sandalwood :) . I'm quite surprised I'm not a fan, the notes read very well: fern, lime, lychee, raspberry, ambergris, fir balsam, geranium, rose, amber, feathery must, oakmoss, patchouli and sandalood.
@@WaftsfromTheLoft I asked my partner what she thought of it too, and she immediately said: yeah really nice. Hard to believe we were smelling the same scent Ha!
Dodo undercarriage, killed me :-) MrSmelly brought his bottle to mine a couple of weeks ago. I love it. My fave from the house so far. Great descriptions as always fellas.
Cheers Greg. I’m in the process of editing the samples vid. It’s a bit long and rambling, with a few interruptions and confusion over numbering which needs to be edited out!
Dodo juice! 😂 Enjoyable as usual. Thanks! One more vote for Joseph's attars. He has some excellent sandalwood, oud oils and chips and incense too. He has lot more than what's on Etsy. So worth sending him a msg. That 'slow burn' thing and development with Dodo kinda makes sense since it's made by a perfumer who deals mainly with very rare ouds, and other things. Of course Sultan Pasha too. :)
OMG guys it was so cool to hear your thoughts about DODO because I've filmed a review on DOD and CHAMELEON today myself and I can imagine DODO smells great on you. Not only we have similar taste but timing too;)
Hilarious! I'm saving my sample to test it out in the heat. In the cold, it doesn't seem to bloom much and i think it might be better when the temperature rises?
Hm, could I ask you two to identify what about this scent remotely reminds you of a Fougere? Not that these labels matter that much - I really enjoy this scent, too, but I just can’t find Fougere DNA in it. Either way, I hope to buy a bottle this year!
Yes, there’s a slight mossyness. Not necessarily bitter, but certainly dark and green. I think fougère is quite a broad term, and whilst some use it to refer to lavender dominant barbershop fragrances i think of it as literally ‘fern like. For instance, I definitely think of Amouage Memoir Man as a fougère, even though it’s far from barbershop.
IMO, after three wearings Dodo is perfectly pleasant, but just not particularly interesting or unique to justify the price. It reminds me of some classic cheapies. But after watching this review, I feel like I need to give this one more shot.
@@WaftsfromTheLoft After the unique opening and mid, after the tropical notes were gone, I thought the final drydown was pretty common niche and not my taste but couldn't identify which note was not working for me, yes I know what they are supposed to be, nevertheless. It's so disappointing when you don't like the drydown hours later. It may well be just on my skin.
Yes, it’s always worth getting a sample and testing on your skin. As we said, what you smell when you spray it in the shop doesn’t give you the whole picture. Interestingly, both of us preferred the mid and drydown to the opening
I'm just hoping and waiting for JK to release his indiegogo scents. I have a few of his perfume oils and love them all. Have you tried his Musk Rose Attar, it's also available as an EDP - beyond my budget but the attar was glorious.
Thanks guys! We DO care at Bloom! :) Hope to see you again soon.
Thank you again for the review! I laughed quite hard when I hear you talk about the “feathery musk”
Sorry, we went of on rather a tangent!
Victor Wong is a Genius, he is the modern day Guerlain. Proud to live in the same city he does.
he is also such a nice person
Yes, he's a genius.
And you are very lucky.
Curious if you two gents would be interested in reviewing a few more products from Rising Phoenix?
You both have class, and knowledge of fragrances.
Well done.
Thank you!

Thanks, we’d certainly like to explore the house.
I've been enjoying this one and I also enjoyed your review. Thanks for chatting about it guys👍🏻
Thanks Chris!

Yes, I know what you mean, as soon as you sniff something that sets off a memory it’s difficult to get past that.

Love your videos, and very interesting fragrances. Thank you for posting such great content. Amazing!

Tommelise ha! Looking forward to watching your take on them!
i JUST tried Dodo purely by coincidence and i love it!
It’s great stuff

I certainly think it’ll work well in the Summer
Tried this today for the first time. The opening does remind me a bit of bird piss. How on earth they pulled that accord??
😂😂😂
Thanks you for that review
Peace
Lovely review for a fantastic fragrances Immediately fell in love with, and bought.
I love your accent and the way you speak. Where are you from?
Thank you! London

Dodo ballz! :) Another great video, guys!
Thanks!
Had a fruity cucumber water vibe to me. I liked it, pleasant enough but not one I would buy.
That partly what we felt on first smell in the shop, but as it develops I think there’s quite a lot more to it.

Can you comment on the drydown?
I thought we had!
aquatic animalic musk

Brilliant frags but it's very expensive in Doha compared to the price quoted in zoologist website......Mr Antonio Gardoni this is over to you
First appreciation here... thumbs up 👍
LOL what exactly is a Dodo's crotch consist of? no one knowwss
I was hoping someone could enlighten us!
Lolz 😂
