Criminally underrated channel. I have been watching fragrance reviews for years and am a collector myself. Thank you guys are quite possibly the most underrated fragrance reviewers on this platform. People are missing out. I’m glad I am a subscriber.
Couldn’t agree more. Only 7k subscribers is criminal. Up there with the most knowledgeable and passionate fragrance reviewers. Thanks for all the great reviews. You’ve opened up mind to many new niche houses.

Great list guys. And I am glad you made the point that that both creativity and value for money were priority for your list especially in the current perfume climate.
Wow! That was an education. Glad I caught you guys early because you are going to explode. Love the channel and the houses. Zoologist T Rex has changed my life.
Great video, and great choices. A handful of houses I'd put in a list like this: D.S. & Durga (lots of expressive, NYC creativity), Meo Fusciuni (an artistic genius, IMO), Parfums d'Empire (bold, artfully crafted perfumes), and Svensk Parfym (a maestro of evocative realism).
Gentlemen, excellent video as always! I wholeheartedly agree with your choices. I really think that Teone Reinthal’s perfumes would be a big hit for you two as well.
I think my bank account hates that i own bottles from almost all of these houses 😂 and a couple i've never tried or even.heard of. Appreciate you shining a spotlight on them 🙏 impeccable choices!
Golden tips for a novice enthusiast, thanks so much! Would love to see more videos like this from you, i.e. more top tens generally and specifically on houses/perfumers too, be it a continuation of overall "must try" favourites (i.e. numbers 11-20 following this initial 10), and also top tens for particular categories like the ouds and animalics which I see you've done and am about to enjoy :)
Yes, we may do a top 10 perfumers. The top 10 format sometimes feels like it is a bit overdone, so if you have any original suggestions for top 10s we'd always welcome them.
@@WaftsfromTheLoft Even if done a lot as a format, what lends it strength in your hands is your takes on these. And actually if different people produce top tens on similar topics it can sometimes be quite instructive, especially when they reflect on why tastes might differ. For this reason the fact that there are two of you and you each bring your favourites is already great because it allows a comparative discussion to emerge that reflects underlying differences in tastes and approach (even if your tastes may be quite similar). I guess seasonality and scent families are the typical, not original suggestions for top tens, but still worthwhile I think, especially for someone like myself trying to get a curated take on highlights of the landscape that's out there. One thing I've started to appreciate is the frequent commonalities in scents produced by the same house or perfumer (your note on 4160 Tuesdays suggests a house/perfumer who is very versatile and whose scents perhaps have less in common with each other). For example having smelled many Tauer scents I can smell some commonalities - I've gotten to know his style, and can smell familial relationships between his Lonestar stuff, L'Air du Desert, Coeur du Desert, L'Oudh, etc. And similarly having sampled a lot of Tom Ford Private Label scents recently. In searching for a perfume I like enough to wear I therefore am starting to appreciate that one key may be finding a house or perfumer that takes an approach one enjoys, then homing in on one particular scent from them. This is why I really like your review of fragrance houses/perfumers, it feels like a better, more efficient way to get a sense of the landscape than accumulating this by listening/watching/reading reviews and analyses of individual scents.
Great video, gents! Thank you, once again! I'm very pleased that you mentioned the House of Guerlain. I discovered the wonderful world of fragrances in a new way about six months ago or so. I read Victoria's advice on Bois de Jasmin that you should start by becoming familiar with the classics, and after reading about various Guerlain fragrances, I purchased bottles of Habit Rouge and Heritage, both in EDP, and was impressed by both. I wore Habit Rouge all winter whenever I wore red, which was at least twice a week. Then I purchased a bottle of Guerlain Vetiver and felt the same about it. It'll be one of my staples this spring and summer. I sampled L'Homme Ideal EDT and EDP and Santal Royal and liked them as well. Then, I purchased samples of Shalimar, L'Heure Bleue, Mitsouko, and Samsara, all in the current formulations, for my wife to try. I realize that the reformulations often don't do justice to the original formulation, but I couldn't stop smelling them. Shalimar changed three times in the dry down. I thought that Mitsouko's dry down was the most surprising. Samsara is so attractive. I need to learn to appreciate L'Heure Bleue and sample Jicky. I began reading about how to seek out vintage formulations, and want to spend time finding them. I realized how much I've missed in my life by not appreciating fragrances when I was young. The rich history of the House of Guerlain is quite interesting, and the historical significance of this and other houses and perfumers adds an additional dimension to my journey into the world of fragrances. Once again, thank you for helping your viewers expand our knowledge and for providing us with such great advice! Happy sniffing!
I made my guess about your choices before watching the video, here is what came to my mind in what order: Bogue, Zoologist, Tauer, Papillon, Pryn, Areej LeDore, Guerlain, Tuesdays, January, Amouage. My list would be: Fort and Manle, Amouage, Herve Gambs, Zoologist, O'Driu, Alkemia, January, Humiecki&Graef, Xerjoff (JTC line), Thierry Mugler.
Aetherealist Cheers! I am such a fan of their Multiple Rouge, that is the weirdest scent ever. Skarb is a great scent, too. Yes, it seems like this company does not exist anymore (?)
I recently subscribed and I really like your content. I was wondering what your take on the fragrance du bios house was. And if a vlog about the house was forthcoming
Thanking the heavens you had zoologist on the list. I’m new in the Fragance game but a long time lover of the arts n this house is what really turned me on in my aromatic journey... lol. You guys are bomb dot com n the best noses in the game. Keep up the good fight for artistic compositions n individuality. Even though I still love my adg Profumo I’m very glad I’ve evolved to the dangerous n daring. P.s. still waiting on some tunes fellas.
I must give you both a big 'Thank You' for introducing me to Strangers Perfumerie. After getting samples and testing the out I just had to purchase Cigar Rum and Burning Ben, my these are just amazing. Now I'm testing out Oliver and it's also very, very good, but I believe it's either sold out or discontinued. Oh, and yes this house is very affordable for the quality you receive. Thanks again and keep doing what you do!
I think the one doing the best work today is Sultan Pasha. Nobody does it like the Sultan does it. He is doing the most amazing work with 99.9% naturals, and it is staggering how good his blends are. They are all attars but OMG, they kind of make your perfumes feel obsolete
Yes, LOTS have people have suggested SP to us. I must admit that I have no experience with attars, and so am a little apprehensive. Maybe I should bite the bullet!
Wafts from The Loft I just bit the bullet by ordering 4attars from Abdul Karim Al Faransi house. From what I hear the perfumer is using high quality ingredients at very reasonable prices according to Nikil from Perfume Guru
Guys, are you aware of Hudsons in the UK? They have just released 3 new frags called 04, 05, and 06 (Guess what the first 3 are called? ;-)) They do some great stuff and well worth a video.

Thank you! The honest answer is we haven’t tried either house, even though they are two which have been recommended to us many times. We hope to rectify that soon!
I’ll wait for it. Some amazing compositions are part of both brands. In the meantime, I’ll watch all the other reviews you had already posted . Keep up the good work, I can really see how passionate you are each and every moment you sniff from the strip or from your skin by the look in your eyes and the expressions you make 😬
