- 2010 Mercedes GLK350 is what I am working on today. This process should be similar on all GLK models from 2010 to 2015 but check your manual of course. ***Make sure your gas is at 1/2 tank to avoid the spills I had in my video.
Duration: 60 minutes or so
We are changing out the #FUEL #FILTER but the #FUEL #PUMP along with #FUEL #SENDING ASSEMBLY UNIT are going to be in the same location so this video should help for those looking to change these out as well.
I realize that I used the incorrect description throughout the video, but what I am changing is the FUEL FILTER.

I was trying to pull out the old filter but the hose seems short that I can't pull all the way out. I hope you have a video on how to actually pull it out and install the new filter.

What is the part number for the fuel sending unit (driver side) and where did you order from? My 2010 GLK350 is the PZEV (partial zero emissions vehicle) Do you have an affiliate link?
Are you sure it’s your fuel sending unit? Mine in this video is PZEV as well. There is a fuel filter (driver side), fuel sending unit, and in tank fuel pump (passenger side). I don’t have an affiliate link yet but working on it. Still trying to get to 1000 subscribers.
Is it hard replacing the sending unit that’s where you get the proper read on your gauge currently rn my gauge stopped working out of no where
I haven’t done that yet to give you an answer. I imagine it’s not too hard though.
Would be helpful for you to say what the issue is, why it’s leaking and what is causing it specifically

Are you able to simply lift the filter out, disconnect the hoses and reconnect them to the new filter? I guess I'm wondering if there's enough slack to fully pull it out of the tank. Thanks man.
Hey! If you’re only doing the fuel filter then yes. It’s pretty easy.
@512TXS DIY thanks. My only issue is that my 13 has that dumb lock ring vs bolt circle.... Always time for new tools....

Great video! I was sitting at the Costco parking lot yesterday, texting the wife with the car running, (2010 GLK350), and this guy parked next to me knocks on my window & says "Did you know you've got something leaking out of your car?" I had just filled the tank and noticed a strong smell of gas so I got out and looked and it was leaking out the bottom much like what it looked like in your video where you had the pan under the car, catching all your fuel. We're far from home, at a motel and I didn't bring any tools although looks like 10mm & 3/16 is all that's needed? But I'm hoping I can find this unit locally at an auto parts store. Besides the smell, is there any work around to stop the leaking until I can get home if it's not available? Thanks again for the great vid, I did like and subscribe!
Thank you! I’m not sure of a work around. Personally, I would just fill up an external gas container, keep it in the car and make my way home to fix it. It’s unlikely the parts could be sourced locally at an AutoZone. :-/
@@512TXSDIY I was afraid you might say that... I think keeping it at 1/2 tank or less too will help. I really appreciate your vid, it showed me everything I needed to know. And it explains why I kept smelling gas inside the vehicle too. IDK if you have a minute but I'm actually working on a construction project which is why we're away, do you have any idea what the new part costs? I'll find out later tonight when I can sit down and search but since you were so quick to respond, thought I'd ask if you knew. Thanks again for a really well done video!
Fuel filter is probably $100 to $150. I normally buy my parts off Amazon or eBay.

Blueprints are taking a bit longer than expected so I'll check Amazon in another couple hours but, really want to thank you for all you did today and again for your vid. I've just purchased this Mercedes w/58k miles on it and I was ready to pull the skid plate to search for the leak. I'm really grateful to find your video. Hope you have a great week upcoming!
58k is nothing. I have almost 180K miles on mine at this point :-). Be safe out there.
I replaced both brand new and it runs out of gas at 1/4 of a tank. Can't seem to figure it out
Check the gas lines?
I had a 2008 E350 PZEV couldn't just buy the fuel pump , had to change the fuel tank with fuel pump and sending unit in it. $1900
Ouch and that hurts!

What do you mean?
After replacing the fuel filter, do you have to bleed the lines or do anything out of the ordinary? Will the car start back up after the fuel filter is replaced?
Update: The vehicle started perfectly normal and ran perfectly normal after fuel filter replacement, so my question is answered. The fuel line clips were a little tricky but I got it done.
