    I'm amazed how simple this looks. Mercedes are known for being expensive when things break, but my GLK seems so easy to work on. Easiest rear lamp replacement in a car I've seen. And I know that's small, but nice to see car maker making things easy for replacement

    • @512TXSDIY

      Sorry to hear about your troubles. What exactly is wrong with your car? Do you have a gas leak somewhere? My GLK350 is with PZEV as well, which is a in tank electric fuel pump. Technically, the pump can be replaced like how you saw me do in this video. I too was told it was not serviceable when I took it in to see if it was covered under some kind of recall. Assuming your electric fuel pump is similar to mine, it is about $300 for a new one and $100 for a used one. Here is an example:

      Brad I had the same problem on my 06 E350. Turns out my car is a PZEV car too and PZEV Vehicles made for California have sealed fuel pump and cannot be changed. You have to replace entire tank. Luckily I found someone who replaces these gas tanks with a newer model unsealed tank that fit my car. Cost me $1000 for a used tank but car runs good! Also it’s worth to note that PZEV vehicles have 15 year warranty or 150k miles on any PZEV Emission part which includes the gas tank. Dealer won’t tell you. I had to do my own research. Sadly I was over by 150 miles and wasnt covered.

    You will note that on the PZEV fuel tanks, the E350 chassis has a removable window to access the RIGHT side fuel saddle where the fuel pump is, but notably, the fuel tank does not have an opening to service the RIGHT sided fuel pump. I suspect it is internal and cannot be serviced. The pump that you replaced on your CLS is the sending pump I believe on the LEFT side fuel saddle which sends fuel to the right side and then from the right side it is pumped to the engine. Maybe I am wrong here, and maybe the left sided pump is the only pump on this vehicle, but I doubt it. I think when the right sided fuel pump fails, its all over, the tank has to be replaced. Hard to believe MB would make such a wasteful design. Terrible engineering. I couldn't find the PZEV part anywhere for the 2007 W211 (E350) PZEV, and saw that your unit looks nearly identical, top of the housing has no lines, and has similar connector. So Im taking a gamble that this same part is in the E350 PZEV tank and will be compatible. Hopefully all PZEV's were the same in this era 2007-2013. Fingers crossed.

    • @512TXSDIY

      Driver side rear is the fuel filter and sending pump and passenger side is the fuel pump. This is a GLK but likely shares parts with CLS and other models

    • @mobitechaz
      @mobitechaz Рік тому

      The part you replaced is not redundant with the e350 PZEV. The fuel pump in this model is internal to the right side saddle and not serviceable

      You will know if you have the PZEV in your mercedes when you have only one access which is the left rear driver side. The right rear passenger side is sealed when you unscrew the black round cover and be surprised that there is no access to the fuel pump plus the fuel tank is metal and not plastic. I should know because I just replaced mine (2007 Manufactured date but sold 2008 that's why it would say 2008 Model). PZEV sign will be noticed on both the Driver side door & when you open the bonnet/hood ...it would be on the black sticker ID. If you have a metal fuel tank then you have the PZEV. I argued with Mercedes USA in New Jersey (HQ) that they should pay half of the cost due to the fact that any car owners in this planet don't need to change the whole tank ($2,400.00) just to replace the fuel pump ($300.00)!!! I told them this is a "design problem flow" and I will file a class action lawsuit. They do not even want to disclose how many units are like this in design flowed. They keep on pointing to the u.s. govt!!! I told them Subaru has PZEV features but no need to replace the tank when replacing fuel pump!!! Then they said they extended the warranty from 5 to 15 years and or 150,000 miles whichever comes first....REALLY? So if your car's fuel pump breaks down after 160,000 or 15 years ... you are on your own. I was able to source from a donor car with 85,000 miles for $1,100.00 and I am still pissed of at MB USA New Jersey
      So your film shows both sides can be accessed? Then if so it is not PZEV
