In regards to clogged arteries, the regression can take a long time, years even, so you will need patience and determination and not lose ''faith'' if you don't see short-term results, but keep eating healthy and you will get there eventually.

This works! Keep going! I’ve been doing this for 5 years. I was 230 and now I’ve been 150lbs for 2 years. Look into the book Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease. The best thing I learned is that it’s not all or nothing, instead it’s what you do over the long haul. If you oops, just continue with what you were doing before!

I buy frozen veggies of all kinds. Put them on a sheet pan or a regular baking pan. Bake for about 40 minutes. Put garlic powder, a tad of salt and a tad of pepper. PUT THEM INTO AN ORDINARY BLENDER AND MAKE A SAUCE! Store in small containers and put into the freezer. Can be poured over each and every dish that you make to get the servings of veggies needed. Don't forget the kale, broccoli, tomato, collards. Put a little prepared mustard in. I pour this over riced cauliflower combined with lentils. Great for breakfast.
Have a Happy New Year! Dr. Barnard has changed my life.

@@kittykat717 Yes, add water and get the consistency that you like as a sauce. Don't forget the asparagus. If you don't like it too green, add more tomatoes! I am now looking forward to doing this for life! All thanks to this channel and Dr B (his book saved my mental health btw)...also the host to this show is so awesome and his personality kept me coming back. Being a little bit vegan is like being a little bit pregnant lol. Not really just kidding. Kudos to you for changing your diet. It's a really interesting journey. I've been doing this for 30 years and I love it. It's so much fun to go to the natural food store and look at all the food. You just have to avoid all the junk food traps, but it's a learning experience and there's so many really cool things to cook. Get some really good cookbooks it's just fun. Just too much fun! Today on the menu I'm making vegetarian cabbage rolls with lentils, rice and mushrooms and spices and broth. I got the recipe off UA-cam. I'm so excited! Happy New Year to you!

@@paulamoors me too! I actually just started down that road about 2 weeks ago and I really do feel different. It's sugar. That was my nemesis. One thing I have found is that when you get that sugar out of your diet, everything else starts tasting sweet, even beans. It's kind of weird. I think your taste buds get more sensitive or something and also I feel so much more grounded. I've been eating a lot of millet and kasha and things like that things that are completely unprocessed and of course vegetables and all that, but it really has made a difference in how I feel. Some of the things that have been helpful are carob powder which has its own sweetness without sugar. I use that in a smoothie with a banana and almond milk and a green powder and it actually tastes kind of like a milkshake. Also roasted brussel sprouts and broccoli and cauliflower are the bomb! Anything roasted so good...

According to the plant based GI Dr Will Bulsiewicz, having fiber during constipation makes it worse because the constipation blocks fiber, which ends up creating methane in your guts. Methane further reduces motility. He cures constipation with magnesium citrate, then he recommends fiber.

For coffee, I grind coffee beans and use stevia to sweeten it and I'm a mocha lover, so I add a splash of dark chocolate almond milk. I used to make my own chocolate syrup but I cut out a lot of sugar by using the dark chocolate almond milk.
I use TVP crumbles for ground beef and use it for tacos, burritos, spaghetti meat sauce and I put it on my flatbread pizzas instead of ground beef or sausage.
Btw, eating a plant based diet has improved managing liver cirrhosis, which I got from NAFLD. Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease due to obesity, lack of exercise, drinking vodka cocktails and beer and eating fast foods and processed foods. Since my cirrhosis diagnosis in 2020, I avoid a lot of food products that come in a bag, box, or a can. I'm a big-time label reader checking out the ingredients and the amounts of salt, sugars, and fat. 😊

Cheese was the hardest to release. But no cheese pizza is the best. Cauliflower crust, great pizza sauce, all homemade, and loads of veggies is wonderful 😋. I love mushroom coffee now. However black is great especially if I am out and want a coffee. Carleigh is right in weening and making sustainable changes. Your palate does change over time.

Bio dark coffee+1 heaping teaspoon of bio raw cacao powder. They mix well. Now you're getting alot of benefits and good taste. It's also under 50 calories, meaning you can use it to make fasting easier.

Can't eat that version of "meat sauce" due to allergies, so I use TVP Granuals and when you soak it according to directions with spices, then bake the TVP in the oven for a little bit - perfect "hamburger" for tacos or spaghetti. ***Even my pickiest eater loves it when I make this!

Hi I'm glad that I watch and learn a lot about vegans. I really want to change to be a vegan. I changed from meat to vegetarian last summer. Any suggestion about brand name of air fryer is for oil free? This may be off subject but it d be helpful. Thank you so much

What a great video to kick off the New Year. Many thanks to Dr B, Chuck and Carleigh. I have her book and agree that easing over from the overprocessed, over-salted & sweetened foods we've all been nearly force-fed for decades is a process, and all it takes is a willingness to try something a bit unfamiliar.

Ive been a pizza chef for 15 years and I just eat veggie pizzas without the cheese. True woodfired italian pizzas werent meant to have a lot of cheese anyway. Small amounts of fresh mozzarella at the very least is ok. Cmon man cheese has so many calories!

Something I wish I learned earlier about going vegan is that for a lot of items, store brand often omits the animal products because they're more expensive to add to foods. For instance, people looking for that "meaty" flavor, my local store has a Worcestershire sauce that doesn't contain fish or beef.

Do we still have to count 5 fruits and/or vegetables per day, as well as having some legumes and wholegrain/starch? Or does a vegan diet mean that because we are constantly eating healthy fruit and veg as part of our meals and snacks that we don't have to be strict with the counting? Thanks for any help and advice. I've started new this year and don't want to look back! :)

    • @Gardengirlie04

It’s a salt that has the sulphuric taste of boiled egg yolks.. I make egg salad by crushing drained chick peas , adding the salt and some of the aqua faba liquid back to make a spreadable consistency.. you could also use vegan mayo . Most people miss cheeses.. I missed my egg salad sandwiches and quiches

@@Gardengirlie04 I'll go look for it. The chickpea salad seems a little bit more like you know tuna salad to me, but I'll experiment with it. Quiche you should be able to make with tofu and vegetables.
