Ok I weighed 260 pounds in 2016. I'm 5'5. I hate salads and that's what all dietitians say you can eat the most! Watching tv back in January of 2016 with all those diet programs advertising food I didn't like. It hit me! I made a list of all the foods I like that are good for me and ate those. It worked! I'm now 166. Went from a size 50 to size 34. Went from 3xl to xl. My blood pressure, cholesterol, and sugar are all normal. I have kept it off for 4 years now. For the record I do like vegetables just not salads lol
All the recipes look fantastic. Great to see some different meat free ideas for the air fryer. Like that the air fryer is not the main star but a supporting time saving character.
Thank you both for this plant base air frying. I am switching to plant base cooking for health reasons and I really appreciate having these alternatives.
My favorite tofu recipe is cherry bbq tofu. For that recipe I use extra firm tofu drained and pressed to get as much water out as possible. BBQ seasoning bbq sauce (jack teagues made a sauce is the best lol) frozen cherries (with a little water in a bowl to thaw the cherries). Cut tofu into cubes and season heavily with bbq seasoning. Pop in air fryer 350 for 10-15 minutes shaking to get it crisp all over. While it cooks mix the thawed cherries and bbq sauce together taste and add sugar if needed. When tofu is done remove and add to sauce. Stir to thoroughly coat and serve. Sometimes if I’m craving crunch I’ll add some pecans to it. Super yummy!
Great video! We make air fried tofu a lot, and I am an avowed carnivore. It is a nice break from meat and still provides us with tons of protein, but from a plant source instead of a meat source. Cathy, I hope you make this again and show us what your kids think of it.
I made the crispy chickpeas for my salad today and I loved them! And I am a big crouton girl and these won me over so delicious! Got my tofu and ready to try the sushi. I used to make crispy tofu years ago and this reminded me to try again! Thanks for a great video
Game changer!! I've been looking for a doable way to eat healthy. Too many of us are not taking good enough care of ourselves. You take the fear of failure out when you break it down like that, and make it look enjoyable. I binge watch the air fryer videos, and excited to try the "green" versions. The work you're doing is important and highly appreciated. Thank you. ( I wouldn't be mad if you made more of these😅).
Traditionally you'd toast the Nori first over a hot burner - gives it a little crunch. And make 'sushi rice' with mirin and rice vinegar - makes it more manageable and tasty.
Oh Wow! This was excellent! I've been eating plant based for 6 years now. Enjoying all the health benefits from eating this way. It has cleared up some of my health issues. Thank you Cathy and Ali for doing this video and for the delicious, easy recipes. Hope you will continue to make some more plant based videos from time to time. Thank you so much!🙏
I love this video. I never thought of combining the elements you mentioned to make sushi but the work!!! Who knew that you could make such yummy vegan food using the air fryer? Tried everything except for the snacks, and loved them ❤ Thank you.
I love you are experimenting with less prepackaged food, I personally limit soy for medical reasons. I hate the negative comments because you gave a good base recipe and hey people this is good. Work it out with ingredients you can eat or tolerate!
This is great! Thanks! I love all the ingredients, have tried to cook tofu but always failed. I’m so looking forward to doing these. I’m not going for weight loss, rather the healthy benefits of the ingredients. Signed up for Ally’s site. Thanks again.
As usual, you nailed for me! I love veggies and nori but have not “cooked” with tofu or chickpeas so this will get me started…love cooking anything in my Cosori…and needless to say, you are an excellent teacher!
Thanks for making this can't wait to show my catering teachers, so far we haven't made and Vegetarian meals and now that I recently acquired an Air Fryer I cant wait to try these recipes.
This was a great video! More like it please. I can’t just cook things in the bottom basket bc my Cosori has the dual basket not a tray. Any suggestions? I would love to do the tofu and tempeh sticks!
Hi Cathy!!! I enjoyed this video today.I always get Tofu at the Chinese Buffet... I liked all these recipes and will give them a try one day. Thanks for this my dear friend...Great Video!!!...🦋
Ooooooh, thank you thank you thank you thank you for this video!!! When I was in college, the cafeteria did some really nice tofu recipes (well, at least I liked them), and I've tried to cook tofu on and off ever since, generally with disappointing results. When I bought my air fryer, I just knew there had to be a way to use it to cook tofu, and you and Ali just showed me how. I can hardly wait to give these recipes a try! I only have one question: All the recipes I've ever seen for tofu call for extra firm tofu. What are firm, regular and silken tofu used for?
Absolutely loved this video, so fun to watch and I will be trying all these recipes. I actually always loved tofu, no issues with it whatsoever haha and I eat plant based about 80% of the time, so some new recipes are always welcome. Will be subbing to Ali's channel as well, it looks awesome!
Cathy as always you rock it out! I’m definitely going to try this !! I’ve never done tofu but I’m not a real meat eater ( dad was a butcher ) back in the day) pre supermarkets. Ewe he made us kids wrap the meat he brought home).
I’m guessing you drained the water from the tofu and pressed it? Also, I’m guessing you punctured your sweet potato before microwaving so it doesn’t explode.
Nope! This was "extra firm" tofu and we didn't because the air fryer dries it up really nicely! And we actually didn't pierce the sweet potato and it was fine!
1 TBSP sugar, 1 tsp curry powder, 1/2 tsp of each: onion powder, garlic powder, salt. Stir in 2 tbsp vegetable broth. I have the recipe in the description now! :)

Thanks for the share as I can't eat spice or a lot of salt for medical reasons it is sad that most plant based food dishes depend 0n these ingredients 😅
so nice video. The nori sheets have lines, wich YOU lay exact place. Ali make it wrong 🙂. And its easier to roll it from you away so you have more control with your fingertops. Nice inspirations, and i hope you made more plant based foods. Vegan greatings from a german in northsweden.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Eat less protein.. are you nuts! Please crack a book .. We should be eating more protein and way way less carbs! FULL STOP PERIOD!
I can’t stand soy sauce. I can’t eat anything that contains soy sauce. Also, pure maple syrup is ridiculously (prohibitively) expensive!!! Sadly it just seemed like many of these recipes would be really expensive, but admittedly, I have no clue what the cost of many of those ingredients are.
Hi :) Love your videos, but wanted to tell you...(I'm sure you already know) but the sound is not always good .... sometimes, it's hard to hear what you're saying... I'm saying that in a positive way.... :)
The flip side of tofu. Many many people are allergic to soy. Also, too much soy in your diet has been proven to be really bad for you, especially men. Food for thought.
Not been proven in any capacity, more hormones and estrogen actually come from dairy and the injections they give the livestock. If you look at the "studies" often they were paid for by the meat or dairy industry. That's the problem with a lot of this stuff, we are facing against a billion dollar industry that has spent decades lying to us. Having said that, as with anything, some people it just doesn't go well with their body. Everyone's different
@@kellypope782you could apparently try pumpkin tofu (pumpfu). I don't have much experience with it yet, just trying it. But it could be useful to you!

You can just cook right in the basket! Glad you enjoyed!
@@empoweredcooks The basket is full of holes so doing the tofu crumble would be impossible.
That looked very tasty.
Do you press the tofu first to get excess water out and get it to absorb "your flavors " better?
Excellent video! Tofu is good when you use it correctly, I'm so glad you tried it again.
Cosori makes such good products. Their new rice cooker is nice.

I love the idea of crumbling and flavoring the tofu. Wondering how you’d flavor it for Italian and Mexican dishes?
Add oregano for Italian
Cilantro lime for Mexican

Use another sweetener you tolerate!
Isn't tofu highly processed, as in your body cannot digest tofu very well, causing inflammation, so tempe would be a more healthier alternative?
Tofu is actually considered a minimally processed food (like bread) and yes Tempeh is healthier but that is because it is fermented.
