I eat a couple of tsp of flax seeds every morning and I use dulse everyday for iodine intake. One day I'll have to figure out who can test my fatty acids (online tests cost a ton of money) levels.
@@gigipizzuto4068 I got my FA's checked for free by a company which would have liked to have me on board to market their products. When test results came with interpretation that I should eat more saturated (!) fat, I knew I do well : )
Although I take 250mg of DHA and EPA almost daily, I eat 1 tbs of both hemp and chia (sometimes flax) seeds and at least 2 tbs of walnuts daily. All great sources of ALA.
@@soilikasanen dulse is algae. They don't have ALA, they contain DHA and EPA
very informative
What does Dr. Barnard say about pea protein?
My son has been iron deficinet since he started solids, he is now almost 2 and we r doing tests weekly. İm still breastfeeding besides normal foods. We are giving iron sirup but it doesnt help. My son eats quite a lot of nuts/seeds/chickpeas and İ make smoothies with spinach. Any tips are welcome pls! Thank you for the wonderful video again!
We had this problem, sprout then cook ur grains and legumes it cuts out majority of anti nutrients (stops body from absorbing all the nutrients especially phytic acid) iron to be absorbed fully requires vitamin C. Savoury food squeeze a wee bit of lemon etc.
Soak all grains/legumes especially oats overnight. Get any food tracking app & it should let u add all the food and Iron content so you can keep track. Good luck x
Oops should mention you need to discard the water you soaked anything in…
@@plantbasedwell-being3309 Good that you added it. Why is it important? I am not sure if I always discard the water, but I will start paying attention to it.
@@plantbasedwell-being3309 Thank you for sharing. I have no idea that you supposed to soak rice. I have only soaked beans and lentils. Good to know.
What about cooking with an iron skillet?
Do we have to avoid foods with lectin ?
Question how often should you take B12?
Should we also avoid the saturated fat in coconut and chocolate?
Dr barnard good morning i got one question, is gingko biloba helps the brain work properly and to deminish alshimmer thank you very much your vlog really very informative.

How often should you take B12 ?
is there any validity to a gluten free diet being beneficial to if you have osteoporosis?
Depends If you're sensitive.to gluten.
I am not, yet I have read some things saying (regardless of whether one is "sensitive") that it is not good for bone density
@@michelemarks5026 As far as I know, gluten doesn't affect bone health among those who are not sensitive. There should be underlining mechanism why it would be. If someone has knowledge about it, I'm eager to learn
So good!!
Extremely informative
Is there a FB group where advice and Q&A takes place?
Im always having a problem with supplement amounts, they vary, milligrams, micrograms, international units??? How do we know
I am 82, and am deficient in iron, so am takin an iron pill along with vitamin c first thing in the morning, then after about 20 to 30 minutes, l have my breakfast. Is this the correct way to absorb iron?
I would like to hear Dr. Barnard speak to Dr. Weil's points about avoiding breads, including whole wheat breads, because finely ground flours are digested and broken down to glucose too quickly.
I would like to eat vegetarian plant-based diet but I cannot take B12 Because it make me feel like I have had some caffeine and I don’t have much energy when I take B12. What can I do?
Dr Barnard , my cholesterol is high and I want to lower it. I gave up all dairy and all meat with occasional salmon. I want to know your thoughts on Plant Sterols? I just started, the company states it will lower cholesterol.
I hope you don't mind me answering. Instead of sterol supplements, why not eat plants from which they are made of? Load free app Daily Dozen by Dr Michael Greger - watch his hilarious lecture How Not To Die. Edamame and tofu are beneficial.
Does a calcium supplement with D3 and K2 mean that it will be likely to go to the bones, and not our blood vessels? Thanks for this video.
It depends If you're in catabolic (inflammatory) state or anabolic (in balanced) state. So, with anti-inflammatory diet and handling stress with healthy ways you get a benefit for bones.
