The greatest mind and the greatest body. CBum was probably the second guy I ever subscribed to back in 2019 and I’ve listened to probably everything Jordan has had to say in that time. My mind is exploding.
The main reason, I think, why people love Chris Bumstead so much is that he has very relatable personality with insecurities and fears, and that he SHOWS them and OVERCOMES them. It is actually corageous and admirable. Also, Chris is just a cool guy and humble. Perfect personality to represent the sport.
@35:41 Jordan makes an excellent point about being nervous when you know you’re not the most nervous there. Perfect example. I work on the ambulance and it can get nerve racking sometimes. Wondering what event might happen or trying to stay mentally prepared. It’s hard. Yet, when we have a student riding out with us who is absolutely petrified, I notice I am at complete ease because now I have a different job to do, navigating them. 100% true statement from Jordan.
This is the second podcast I've watched with Dr. Peterson. What I enjoy most is seeing how genuinely interested Dr. Peterson is sharing experiences with his guests. As spectators and young people, take the time to really listen to the conversation. These behaviors and experiences are something we all can relate to. It's infectious watching how the conversation moves and evolves into the cause and effect of how we think and perceive as we relate to outside stimuli. Kudos to Dr. Peterson and his guests for providing real insight in bettering oneself.
Just thought about this myself: doing a podcast does come naturally to a person who has psychology degree and experience in a field where seeing patterns and listening are big part of career and patient success. Curiosity is a very necessary trait and passion for knowledge ofcourse as well. This makes the questions deeper and creates space where the guest can open up more. Stories that he himself shares have depth as well because of his personal experience and those of people he has treated.
That's why I love his podcasts, he's good at listening and then adding the probing questions. It's like watching a therapist session it's very interesting and deep substantial stuff that you can take away for yourself

I am glad that JP has started interview bodybuilding personalities. Bodybuilding is such a positive practice and has transformative effects physically and psychologically that have much benefit to those that are diseased. Living in the UK, I was not familiar with Chris Bumstead. He came across well, a really fine young man and I'm sure he will be a good father to his little girl due to be born in April. When I hear these two men talking about the joys and benefits of marriage, I do get a touch envious, having never walked down the aisle myself. An obvious thing about marriage as well is that it is two minds rather than one, two views of any potential problem, two possible solutions, the power of two in short. After nearly 20 years on my own, it does get a touch tedious having to make all the decisions and choices oneself the whole time. The love that should perhaps have been given to the husband and children I never had is instead put into creative activities these days, but of course that is all one-way, and is no substitute for a good stable marriage and raising children.
