- Jared "Rook" Isaacman performs a short demonstration of his privately-owned MiG-29 Fulcrum before departing during the Sunday airshow at EAA AirVenture 2022 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. This MiG previously served with the Ukrainian Air Force but was demilitarized and transitioned to civilian hands more than ten years ago.
Rook brought his MiG-29 and several other spectacular jets to Oshkosh to promote his Polaris Program, which is a first-of-its-kind effort to rapidly advance human spaceflight capabilities, while continuing to raise funds and awareness for important causes here on Earth. I was a MiG-29 instructor pilot in Germany's MiG-29 squadron as a USAF exchange pilot. I also did the test flying of the first civilian-owned MiG-29 to fly. The engines in this jet are operating normally. Any large throttle transient forward will cause a puff of smoke and coming out of burner will cause an increase in smoke.
Do you know who owns that MiG now? I assume it's not this one.
Seems a bit like trucks 'rolling coal'. I assume it's due to excess fuel being pumped into the system before the engine itself has anytime to get up to the correct rpm, something along the lines of that.
This fighter is better...😄

I mean that sounds about right to me, the MiG-29’s engines are known for being a bit smokey.
I love the new paint scheme, this aircraft was based here at KPAE from the time it was refurbished until the sale from the Paul Allen collection to Jared Isaacman who has a Global Express a Citation X and Challenger in very similar colour schemes.
A jet I still have yet to see. Great shots and videos of the MIG-29!
Does he plan to do this regularly? i'd love to catch a mig 29 at a us airshow!
He is at Sun n Fun in Florida April 9 - 14
It was awesome. I saw it Friday afternoon in Kenosha before it went up to Oshkosh. They appeared to be practicing. Had no idea there was a MiG-29 scheduled. Then I went to Oshkosh Saturday and got to see it much closer. So cool!
I don't think I've ever seen a twin with engines that seem to run so differently. That right side sure smokes! The burner looks weaker too
Yep, #2 is not exactly right, Russian engines, probably real close to Depot Level Maintenance time.......those engines have a very short cycle time compared to American/Brit engines. Beautiful bird, that's for sure.
Yes agree
This is a civilian owned aircraft. Probably hard to get parts lol
Civilians can send the aircraft to Ukraine for maintenance and rebuilding but obviously with the current situation that’s probably not happening for a while.
Being there myself and from my hometown of Oshkosh. I feel proud to be in the hometown of EAA Airventure.
My first EAA and I have nothing but nice things to say about the whole event and atmosphere. Met some great people, everybody was so nice. We will be back again next year
All I'm seeing is comments about the Mig's smoke that's what Russian aircraft do there's nothing wrong with the aircraft smoking from the exhaust is a stiple in the Mig.
Funny how people don’t like the MiG-29 smoking, yet love the F-4 Phantom’s smoke lol. The F-4s with the older J-79 engines are way more smoky than this MiG btw
MAN I love that jet
Great work Ryan👍👍
What a gorgeous aircraft.
He’s definitely much softer and babying his airplane than the hornets and the F 35’s did at that airshow.
I was impressed with the F-35's capabilities...sick performance. The MIG 17 was also a sight to see...
A lot harder to fly
@@russellklassen4881 maybe landing but yanking and banking with 2 after-burning engines is not that hard… The Mig 17 pulled harder. Just saying it’s his plane and he was taking it easy on her.
Homie is just enjoying his Mig29. I wouldn’t fly it hard either as there isn’t really a point
@@bellaxxi4116 air shows and more particular fighter jets are about max capabilities so there is most definitely a point at least from a viewer aspect. As an owner of a very expensive toy and one who isn’t proficient in aggressive combat maneuvers (not me, him) I totally understand.
Co za dzwięk illników ! Piękny samolot !
Hello. Awesome jet! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I would love somebody to get an F14 Flying at shows, now that would really be something!
Love the livery
Came back to this vid because the Fulcrum is coming to War Thunder in the next major update :D love it
Did you get to record the f-35 I hope you can post it on UA-cam
We recorded lots of F-35s, just need time to go through everything and make sure we avoid the music
I niech mi ktoś powie że jakikolwiek jankeski samolot może równać się z 29 :) Pięknie na tych dopalaczach przysadził !!!
They should install F-15 engines on the MiG-29!
Does this version have ejection seats?
This thing is like a crossbreed of a F14 and F15
What a little devil it is in air. I’ve always wondered what mig 29 could have been if it had an avionics suite of an F16 block 60 or an F/A 18 block 3 with twin EJ200 with FADEC and PIRATE FLIR. It would be the most exhilarating 4+ gen fighter jet to ever exist.
If this was Sunday it was actually Leif piloting the MiG
Owns a private jet
It's MiG 29 😅
It looked better in the last livery when Paul Allen owned it in my opinion. Also, I hope Jared got a few spare engines in the deal.
Pretty smoky but not as smoky as a double-ugly! Nice aircraft but looks better in the Ukrainian digital camo!
Agreed
@@PolarisEricson Well if you happen to be a fan of The Las Vegas Raiders, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Kings, or Chicago White Sox, the colors are just fine in that scheme.
3:37 I saw UFO
As did I!
A bug flying between the camera and the jet?
I choose to believe it’s a UFO. It’s more entertaining for the Ol’ imagination.
UFB!
@@BullGator-kd6ge I don't think a bugs fly in a straight line.
Needs a tuneup..
Mig29 super charged Diesel ...
Mig-29 on the U.S how The United States Air Force buy that Plane???????
Rolling coal
Long live the F-15 Eagle. No Fulcrum has ever won a fight with one.! 104-0 Kill Ratio...🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
something wrong with that thing. That smoke was pulsing.
Nope what you see is it going on and off the afterburner as he throttles it. Guess alot of people here never seen a f4 phantom fly before from sounds of it.
@@christophermays2108 maybe. I thought I saw it pulsing with the burners remaining off.
This plane and engines a really old tech, compare to newest...
This is not a cheap hobby.
That’s Jared issacman isn’t it? Commander of I4? Sure looks like his mig29
Yes Jared Isaacman owns this now, it was purchased from the Paul Allen collection.
I always wondered if a civilian could own a decommissioned fighter aircraft. I know that air racers use old warbirds like P-51 and the like, but I never knew you could privately own something of this level. How do you even go about this?
Money talks…
@@josephwirtz8352 Agreed. So how much? $10-20M?
@@LPM147 I couldn’t even begin to guess.
@@LPM147 Somewhere in the range of 4-8 million. I know big gap but there’s only 3-4 civilian owned mig29’s in the states so they are extremely hard to come by
@@mgman111 Thanks! That was a legit question. I would assume that it would take a lot of $$$, but also require a lot of red-tape. It would be like the equivalent of buying a gun for regular folks like me 🙂
Is this the jet he got from the Paul Allen estate awhile back? Draken International is Jared's company.
Is it diesel? 🤣🤣
Impressive
Can't believe it!!! Did they upgrade that thing to a 7.3 twin turb? Asking because of all the black smoke. 😂 😂 😂.
❤️❤️👍👍
the delay russian people 😂 Россия 🇧🇷🇷🇺
it's a beautiful plane, but sadly is obsolete in our era. The blue print remains priceless though
Wheb you roll in with the badest ride
🤍💙❤️🇷🇺
What a nice privat jet to own.
Have any of the B29 flying?
Yep, we'll get stuff like that posted! In the mean time you can see BOTH B-29s flying together in a video from Osh 2017 - ua-cam.com/video/krQeUeqTO4k/v-deo.html
That MiG-29 is an awesome fighter!
They should install F-15 engines on the MiG-29!
There's no way that F100 engines can fitted to the MIG-29, because the airframe is engineered for the RD-33 turbofan engines that were designed for it. Trying to redesign the MIG-29 for American engines will never work, because of how the intake system works when the plane is on the ground; auxiliary inlets open when anti-FOD doors close off the main intakes. The F100 engine, and the F110 are not compatible with such a unique intake system. The FULCRUM was designed to operate from under prepared fields, and Western fighters operate from well maintained bases, so, they don't need intakes with Anti-FOD doors, and auxiliary inlets.
That black smoke is seriously not a good sign.
Excellent camera work!!!👍😊
