Nice, good job on the song. It turned out amazing. Your recording is much better than the one they ended up using on the soundtrack, glad they used this for the show at least.
This song and that scene where the doctor picks out his new outfit was simply special. That Christmas episode was the start of my childhood, and really the start of my life. I had just turned 6 on Christmas Day, my birthday, with the new doctor David Tennant. I'd seen maybe a couple of Christopher Eccleston's episodes, but mainly the last two where he regenerates into the 10th doctor. For the next few years I was bullied which wasn't a nice time at all, but no doubt Doctor Who was always there for me and got me through some difficult times. Nevertheless, religiously watching and recording Doctor Who on Saturday nights were truly some of the happiest times in my life and I will cherish them forever. I religiously bought all the doctor who cards, toys, and memorabilia. From the ages of 6-10, Doctor Who was my life, simply everything to me. Christopher Eccleston was amazing in his own right for giving Doctor Who the new lease of life it needed and the new audience, but for me David Tennant MADE Doctor Who. Simple as that. From 2005-2010, Doctor Who was the best tv show ever. It will always have a special place in my heart.
@Ardal Hall Even when he had to dress more formally (i.e. black suit and white shirt instead of his usual pinstripes), he still wore Converse trainers. Can't blame him though, those are much more comfortable than stiff leather dress shoes ;-)
I can't listen to this anymore, I miss David Tennant Billie Piper everyone else in that cast Russel the Davis the music the Tardis and my life in those moments of watching the Doctor who.
@@Magic1Angie I'm going crazy not being able to watch the first four seasons ANYWHERE. I even asked our main national TV channel if they could try to get rights to show Doctor Who, but they said their hands are tied because of Amazon. And for some reason Amazon Prime only offer seasons 5 - 10 in Norway ... and also, no Torchwood ... I'm losing my mind, lol. Even the DVDs are sold out (domestic). I so need to rewatch season 1 - 4 with Ninth and Tenth ... so many memories from that time in my life.
Just watched The Christmas Invasion, properly live on TV for the first time since 2005. December 23rd, 2019. I had tears several times. None more so than when this scene arrived. When Chris, David, Billie, Noel, John and Camille were there along with Murray’s unforgettable music and Russell’s vision, this programme was my entire world when I was young. This song is emblematic to that entire pocket of time. It’s hard to listen to. It represents something I loved that just isn’t there anymore and hasn’t been for over a decade now. I wish I had a Tardis so I could go back to 2005 and 2006, and see their impact again. The only word I can use for it is special. It was truly special. The programme was like a friend holding your shoulder that you could depend on. I’m thankful for every meeting and every discussion that gave it life. I’m thankful for the staff’s hours of work to make something fantastic. I’m thankful for the smiles it still brings. I’ll always have that era and I’ll always hold it close. Things don’t last forever and that is heartbreaking. Times change, but all we can do is admire times gone by and remember the joy they brought.
OMFG why didn't they keep this as the official version its 110% better and more passionate and emotional than that "other version" .. .This is beautiful!

David Tennant was the best Doctor, no one can Argue and when he was changing into his new clothes it was the best moment, the only reason is because of this music, this song was trying to tell us he would be a BRILLIANT DOCTOR and he was and that will never end not even on the 100 Year Anniversary of Doctor who, he will still be known as the Best doctor of all time
Tennant was brilliant and his acting presence is superb. Although opinion is opinion and I thought Matt smith was by far the best doctor, he hit the nail on the head for me.
@@alpaca9994 All of you are wrong. TOM BAKER is the best. The show would of crashed without him. He injected humor in his Doctor. David Tennant and the 8th Doctor are my other favs. Without them, DW would of died. That's why Tom Baker is so iconic, with his sweater. He's been referenced in pop culture so much. Even here in the USA.
This combines two of my favourite episodes, the song from The Christmas Invasion and the background picture from Tooth and Claw 💕 Side note: I get that a castle in 19th century Scotland is probably quite cold and drafty, but wearing an undershirt, t-shirt, button-down shirt, *and* suit jacket on top? Seriously Doctor? ;-)
He does start with his coat in Tooth and Claw, but he takes it off when they have a meal, and then never has the chance to pick it up again as the werewolf starts attacking them.
I hope they have it in this years Christmas Special as well. This song is so Christmas for me! Actually Doctor Who in general is very Much Christmas for me. HAHA! It may be because i watched it for the first time during Christmas. Yeah, the Christmas of 2013. I started at around December 1st with the First Season of New Who thinking i wouldn't like it. Half a season and a day later i was hooked. And then i had to take a break for a week after finishing Season 2. And then i got back to it. And So i was done with Series 7 just in time for the Christmas Special that year. Binged all of New Who in 4 weeks. Pretty darn impressive for a guy who tought the whole concept was idiotic a month earlyer. HAHA! But yeah, this song is so great! I love it! Only wish there could be an actual FULL version of it. The Sountrack version doesn't have the right singer. And that is just total BS in my Opinion! I hate how you look up the Soundtrack for a movie or a Show just to find out that one song you wanted to hear was a different version on the Sountrack! What the hell is the point of including a different version by another singer on the Sountrack when that version isn't even in the show? Makes no sense in my opinion.
#11 (Matt Smith) had a 2-part arc that introduced the Silence, filmed in Arizona, & guest starred Mark Sheppard. Those 2 episodes were EPIC, the best of the Matt Era, although a few of Matt's early episodes were quite good IMO. After that 2 parter though, the stories went down hill. By the time #12 came along, the stories (& especially endings/resolutions) were down right brain-dead stupid -for example one of the "serious" episodes Rick & Morty inadvertently lampooned w/o knowing it years later where an alien will destroy a planet if one of it's occupants doesn't sing to him the best song ever. And then, there was the episode where the entire earth was covered in trees (The Happening on steroids) & in the end "ah, humans have a habit of forgetting about these things." REALLY!? No history books? No internet? No one would remember that the earth was overgrown for a day then back to normal the next?) With Moffatt gone, maybe the stories/arc will improve again. Although to his credit he CAN be a great original writer when he's on his game ("BLINK"), just more misses than hits, one-offs are awesome, not entire year worth storylines.
This music is my childhood, I literally well up when I hear it, davaid tenant, there will never be a better doctor, Christopher Eccleston was "fantastic" but not many episodes.
Everyone talking about Christmas invasion but was I the only person to notice that an instrumental of this plays in school reunion in the last scene with Sarah Jane

Davies. It has the things written by Davies which made the show great: strange creatures, imaginative imagery, and poetic acting!
They even changed the Daleks and TARDIS drastically!! T,T it has been a rough transition, like sandpaper on my heart. The tenth won me over with his last "fantastic" and his concern for Rose but the eleventh doesn't even think about anyone from the past...

+Hungry Guy I like this one, and like you guys, bought the soundtrack wanting this one and was likewise very disappointed. The other guy's voice is horrible! Music isn't that good in the other one either.
When this is playing and the doctor walks in and him and rose are smiling at each other, it breaks my heart just to think about what this show meant to me when it was this cast. David Tennant was, and always will be the doctor, and rose his companion. When I watch doctor who over, I stop when the tenth doctor regenerates. David is my hero really.
I am glad I am not the only one. I used to think that I didn't enjoy the newer episodes as much because I was growing up, but since Moffat took over it just isn't the same anymore. I think it's more child orientated, where as the RTD era did a great job of being good for both children and adults.

Castiel Rocks Ikr. So many times I buy a soundtrack for a film, and it's not the same version of the song used in the film. That totally sucks!
+Hungry Guy I like this one, and like you guys, bought the soundtrack wanting this one and was likewise very disappointed. The other guy's voice is horrible! Music isn't that good in the other one either.
+Richard Fuller you can't seriously call it horrible. Only if you haven't heard any of his other songs. He's a genius.
David Tennant was the best doctor, and is still the doctor with amazing writing from Russel which has never come close since.
I don't know how far they will continue Doctor who, but no one will ever come close to how amazing David's doctor is
00.44-00.57 Then I started to walk. Pretty soon I will Run. And I'll be running back to you.
YOU can't sing or relate that line to the Cybermen. FOR they had NO emotions !!
Really love both versions
Maaan this makes me so sad ten and rose were so happy
Right in the feels
Love this
Sempre que escuto ou ouço no episódio fico com saudades
i love it
I like this so much better.
Why is that this song is not used on Legends of Tomorrow?!?
@dr103 I know,but Still?
RTD just played the awful album version on Desert island discs... Made me miss this.
Far superior, agreed
Just realized the verse structure of this song is very similar to Crazy by Aerosmith
Love it! So tenlike!
A dark time, indeed.
