Murray Gold has truly come in clutch for this new era of Doctor Who. This theme sounds like a more brass heavy rendition/continuation of I am the Doctor, and I'm here for it. In RTD, We Trust.
Right? His version already feels well established. It seems like RTD is consciously moving away from the tortured guilt ridden Doctor that has been established since 2005 (they acknowledge it as such) and this version is looking forward to fun adventures rather than running away from the past. Can't wait for the season to start properly.
It’s like a child going out to explore for the first time, Maybe its because he was pulled out from the old doctor? Does this make him technically the Doctors child?
It gets cooler and cooler the more times I listen to it! I could totally see (or rather hear) 2:41 playing after 14 regenerates into 15. Seeing as the theme is already out there, it wouldn't be too far a stretch to assume we'll hear it in the 60th anniversary specials, never mind the Christmas special!
The more I listen to this theme, the more I like it. This time around, I think something’s clicked with me that didn’t prior: This theme has an old-time feel to it, late 60s to early 70s (very Western to me) but with the bombastic/operatic nature of Murray’s music. In short: A piece of music that brings the old with the new, a piece of music that stands anywhere and is able to fit in… a piece that perfectly describes The Doctor.
When i hear this its almost like its saying it took 5 regenerations to resolve all the conflict from the time war and that this doctor is now renewed and ready to live again
I thought the show was dead, I had accepted it. Then I saw the trailer for the 60th and I started smiling like a child. I realized I forgot that feeling
@@MrTriplej79 I very much felt the same way, when watching the specials, I legit cried because it really felt like a return to form. A return to what made me fall deeply in love with the show in the first place. It very much was a feeling that I didn't know that I was missing but upon having it back it was very enlightening :D
I love how Fifteen contains variations on other themes (which is exactly what the character of the Doctor is) whilst bringing a whole new child-like sense of fun and world-saving bombast to things. I immediately picture the 15th Doctor grabbing someone’s hand, running down corridors with them whilst the villains explode in the background. Wonderful.
The shuffling beat and chord progression are definitely designed to lead right into the main Doctor Who theme whenever they want. Right at the end of the hook, just drop into the iconic three notes.
I love that this theme references 10, 11 and 12, it shows that RTD and Murray aren't thinking of making seasons 1-4 again but truly something new and exciting that draws on the shows extensive past years.
I remember when I heard this before 15's premiere, I was in awe at how amazing this theme was. Like 11 and 12s theme you immediately know WHAT kind of Doctor 15 is without seeing even a second of him on screen. This Doctor is clever, heroic, and quickthinking, with an affinity for vintage aesthetic. Murray Gold is the absolute GOAT!
This actually may be my new favourite theme, and Ncuti has skyrocketed to my second favourite Doctor after Tennant. He's so energetic, and he has heart but he's got a positive outlook - his traumatic past isn't forgotten, and he still gets angry in the face of death and injustice, but he maintains this amazing lightheartedness in spite of, or because of it (a quote from Smith's era was something along the lines of, 'he saw all this pain and suffering, and all it did was make him kind' - I really love this interpretation of the Doctor). I loved Whittaker's character, but the writing for her episodes was so poor it ruined her seasons, which was so upsetting because she could have been something like *this*. Fifteen's theme represents Ncuti's Doctor perfectly.
I thought I wouldn't really be too keen on this... but boy was I wrong! The more I listened, the more I kept thinking; "I can see where this would fit in various scenes. Totally love it! Thank you for sharing this.
I can just imagine the Bass Clarinettist staring at Murray when they saw the sheet music for the first time 😂 Like “Yeah, I’m gonna need some oxygen tanks after this”

I wasn't super sure how to feel about the theme when I listened to it a couple months ago but hearing it in the show it clicked instantly. Very much looking forward to hearing it a bunch more!
0:54-1:37 is exceptionally heroic but you can hear the brass itself playing something that could be eluding to more. A somewhat darker undertone. A side of the coin that is always kept hidden well by the Doctor's hand. A side that, in all of the pain and suffering of Chibnall's writing we've had to endure, I am so so craving to explore once more. DOCTOR WHO IS BACK BABY WOOOOOOOO
Absolutely love it, so much energy! Really embodies doctor who's chaos and energy and of course the 15th doctor!! What an absolute LEGEND murray gold is. So excited!!!
Everone says this theme sound extremely jovial and heroic, but I feel it's more of a "good vs evil" theme. In the beginning, after the marching bit (0:19 - 1:38) you have this chaotic mix of trumpets and woodwing, plus this continuos drumbeat that give the theme this seriousness vibe to it. It kind of reminds me of somthing out of Fantasia 2000 during the Chernabog scene, like a hero meeting the big baddie and fighting to survive. After this point it starts to become more uplifting like the tides are beginning to turn in the hero's favor. with the string instrument raising in pitch, and then once 2:10 hits, victory starts to look on the horizon, bringing in a chior and and an electrical guitar of all things, really putting forth the idea the hero's won. Keeping in mind that RTD and Gatwa have both teased that 15 might face some serious hardships, I think it really fits. The Doctor whose going to over come the worst of himself and whatever comes his way.
@@Bohonda If RTD stays after Ncuti it will be for Helena Bonham Carter, I said it here first. From her Noele Gordon role, RTD and her apparently got on like "a house on fire".

I love that you can tell the kind of Doctor Ncuti will be through his theme. Daring, Dashing, and Determined. Almost as if bits of the Third Doctor are in there.
Murray Gold has truly come in clutch for this new era of Doctor Who. This theme sounds like a more brass heavy rendition/continuation of I am the Doctor, and I'm here for it. In RTD, We Trust.
He's gonna make it woke
Boo hoo
@@ssjg4Gogeta Doctor Who was always woke, what do you mean?
in RTD, We Trust.
@@ssjg4Gogetathe show first produced by a woman and a gay Indian is woke.... Noooooo
Why is this already the best Doctors’s theme? I only got Ncuti on screen for a few moments tonight and I already absolutely LOVE him as The Doctor
Right? His version already feels well established. It seems like RTD is consciously moving away from the tortured guilt ridden Doctor that has been established since 2005 (they acknowledge it as such) and this version is looking forward to fun adventures rather than running away from the past. Can't wait for the season to start properly.

I couldn't agree with you more!
It’s like a child going out to explore for the first time, Maybe its because he was pulled out from the old doctor? Does this make him technically the Doctors child?
I dunno what it is but it has modern pokemon boss trainer music vibes and I LOVE it for that
It gets cooler and cooler the more times I listen to it!
2:50
Is that just a hint of I am the Doctor I hear??
awesome theme, all hail the return of the king
There is yes
When i hear this its almost like its saying it took 5 regenerations to resolve all the conflict from the time war and that this doctor is now renewed and ready to live again
2:16 When you are taking your dog for walkies and he doesn't wanna go.
Lol yes
I think this version of The Doctor is going to be a Swashbuckling Scoundrel who likes dangerous situations and is fun for him!
Am I nuts or does this have kind of a comedic vibe? Like there's Donna energy, I sense some sass coming. 🤨
I definitely sense 15 to be very campy and fun, with lots of energy. and im all for it
This honestly sounds soooo good. I’m so excited to see how he get’s on playing the iconic character. Can’t wait.
Goddamn it feels good to be a Doctor Who fan again. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever get that feeling back.
Doctor who broke the curse that afflict so many franchises i've used to love...
I AM SO READY FOR 15! 15's introduction *chef's kiss*!
2:48 I hear you "All the strange strange creatures"!
Murray Gold will always find a place for that piece! From 2007 it's first use to 2024...
Also sounds a bit like ‘Locked on’ from Series 6 soundtrack. Dramatic bit of music that was used in The Doctors Wife
@@lew5547 Yep it was used a lot through series 3-10 especially the Matt Smith era!
The 11th Doctor reference at the end!!! It's so joyful.
I love how this theme just gives off the vibe: I'm going to just jump into this chaos without a clue of what it is just because why not.
These are gonna be an amazing few years for doctor who
This actually may be my new favourite theme, and Ncuti has skyrocketed to my second favourite Doctor after Tennant.
I'll be honest, I really wasn't a fan at first. But tonight's episode sold this theme for me. It's a great piece
I thought I wouldn't really be too keen on this... but boy was I wrong! The more I listened, the more I kept thinking; "I can see where this would fit in various scenes. Totally love it! Thank you for sharing this.
I can just imagine the Bass Clarinettist staring at Murray when they saw the sheet music for the first time 😂 Like “Yeah, I’m gonna need some oxygen tanks after this”
As a tuba player who always wanted better bass runs I’m insanely envious of this bass clarinet scoring
yeah I know him really well and he was thrilled!!!
AAAAAAAHHHH FINALLY GETTING TO HEAR THIS IN THE SPECIAL WAS GLORIOUS
Feels like cramming for an exam but somehow knowing you're gonna ace it
We are so fucking back
Hell yeah! I’m pumped as fuck!
sadly we are not back@@attckonutube
@@saberhap2639 nah, it was great. Wild
Blue yonder in particular was fantastic. But I’m guessing you’re problems with the episodes are something along the lines of “too woke” or some other ridiculous nonsense like that.
Glad to see that 14's "therapy out of order" paid off. 15 is back to business, now fully recovered from the time war.
It really gives me the vibes of a Final Fantasy battle theme, while still being very Doctor Who
The Final Fantasy comparison is really accurate! They are indeed similar.
Yes! That was my first thought. The beginning almost gives me One Winged Angel vibes. I found myself chanting that Latin stuff over it.
Yeah Bomber Mission
Woah you are so right it does give me final fantasy vibes!!!
I thought it sounded like Dragon Ball Z music lol
What do you think of the 15th Doctor's official theme?!
The second half is incredible
After watching the giggle, this has to be my favourite doctor theme to date 🤩🤩🤩
Absolutely love it, so much energy! Really embodies doctor who's chaos and energy and of course the 15th doctor!! What an absolute LEGEND murray gold is. So excited!!!
It sounds so bouncy, and the letimoffs are so nice! Glad we got this theme for him!
So glad Gold is back. He brings so much life into the show.
Thank god, Murray Gold is back. Nailed it!
60th specials absolutely knocked it out of the PARK. Brilliant!
Words cannot explain how happy I am that Murray Gold is back
Giving me lots of 9th Doctor vibes. Makes me feel his era will be packed with a lot of action and movement.
Murray Gold is go good at finding new melodies and rhythms within existing pieces and making them still sound new, fresh and iconic.
After quitting the show in 2018 I'm glad to be back. I knew as soon as RTD was announced to be returning that Murray Gold would likely join him.
“Where's he going?”
“Everywhere.”
“Good luck.”
I love it! Love the bass clarinet present throughout
The Doctor whose going to over come the worst of himself and whatever comes his way.
they did an excellent job at making us instantly like him
I am totally in love with 15th Doctor's theme! Murray Gold is an absolute genius 💙
Very interesting I'm not sure how I feel about it, but im sure I'll love it once I see it in a powerful scene
Can't wait for Series 14!!
Maybe seeing it in a scene, I'll like it better. For now, I really don't like the 70's marching band feel it has.
Hot take: this is the 2nd best Doctor theme behind Matt Smith’s Theme
What is 3nd
@@TobySmith-wk9bf I think you mean 3rd
Anyways defo A Good Man (Twelve’s theme)
Then the Tenth Doctor’s theme, then Nine and then Thirteen’s
God it still absolutely baffles me that Murray Gold hasn’t officially released this, ruby’s theme and the 60th anniversary soundtracks yet.
I know, right?
Still waiting for series 10 😭
Probably by the end of the season. Series 10 however...
This is absolutely brilliant. I haven't been this excited about doctor who since jodie had her debut
Everything after that was a disaster
It was a bummer that her era was so bad, she's a really good actress
@@Bohonda If RTD stays after Ncuti it will be for Helena Bonham Carter, I said it here first. From her Noele Gordon role, RTD and her apparently got on like "a house on fire".
15th Doctor: "I love you... Get out." *begins to set off TARDIS*
Donna: "Oh no! I'm not doing that again!" *quickly dashes off*
This is one of the best themes of the whole series! Murray gold never fails to amaze me. I am so excited for ncuti as the doctor, he’s gonna be fantastic!!
Murray gold is such a genius by the fact that in the reversed version of this theme theres a part that sounds like "I am the Doctor"
This seems like it fits ncutis personality perfectly loud, bold full of life.
Mr Golds Platinum is Back. If you only need one reason to Watch Dr Who, its Murray Golds sound tracks. Brilliant
This gives me James Bond/I am the doctor vibes, very upbeat and whimsical. It also has a sort of circus vibe to it almost with the repetition of the drum beat, I will admit I didn’t like it at first but now I’ve listened to it a few times it’s grown on me.
I can’t wait to see Ncuti in action he’s going to be epic. xx
Hopefully they give Ncuti better scripts than they gave Jodie.
I mean rtd is back so 1000% better scripts
I have feeling that 15th will be one of the best incarnations of The Doctor.
@@ItsMeGPZ This is such a wholesome comment :D
Hopefully he's not extremely flamboyant
@@LordColondy He was described as "peacock" Doctor by Ncuti.
I love how jaunty and confident this theme is. I'm so excited for the new doctor, he'll be amazing with a badass theme.
