It’s easy with this simple 26 piece cleaning system with in an hour your good to shoot your second round
HAHA !!!!!!
I bought a 20 Guage bore snake a couple years ago works great on 50 cal inlines.
I bought a 50 cal snake works wonders in the field.....
OMG- I have been doing it wrong all these years.. I just put the base of the barrel in a bucket of dishwashing liquid and use a bore swab to plunger the fluid in the bore. After that a dry patch and last a patch with gun oil.. Done perfectly in a few minutes. Even on my Hawken I just remove the nipple and do the same thing.
Grandpa said to pee in a bucket to act as the cleaner..
You guys are cleaning your rifles??
Heaven forbid.
Can't do it that way with a scope mounted on your gun. 😮
@@jeffdougan491 You put a scope on a hammer fired Hawken?
Hot soapy water will clean black powder better then anything. Cheep and easy.
Why are we running the bore brush through BEFORE taking the breech plug out?
Stops all the gunk getting into your threads
I was always told to buy a stainless gun and wash it in the bath tub with warm soapy water.
How about a video showing how to clean the trigger assemble on an Optima NW rifle.
Can’t you use water and soap at camp
They are trying to sell you all their Super Duper cleaning products!
I use water, then my own concoction of half beeswax, half crisco to lube/protect the barrel from rust.
Yeah, I hope you can answer my question. I sell and use your products and I use barrel blaster foam, and I do let it sit in the barrel for an hour and I do run clean patches down the boar however, after it’s stored for a year the barrel is rusted in the inside, like I never even touched it , is there anything that could do different? Yes, I do use a rust patch down through it. Some of my employees that have purchased the CVA, guns from me and cleaning product . they’re having the same problems. Please give us answers. Thanks in advance.
Just guessing but I'd say the magic cleaning solutions being sold work about as well as my self cleaning oven feature.
Interesting Video I think most people think they are hard to clean when in fact they are very simple... I use a mixture of equal part's Murphy's Oil Soap - Rubbing Alcohol and Hydrogen Peroxide works better than anything on the market and Cheaper, close to a gallon for less than 10 buck's.. I carry a 20 oz soda bottle full and Pre Soaked patches in my possibles bag , I also carry a torch tip cleaner to clean the nipple .. A 20 oz bottle will give you at least 6 cleaning and ez to take in the field.. i have used the cleaner for over 30 years as do most people I hunt with hasn't le me down..
Good luck getting that firing pin out after about 10 shots. Mine is stuck and I’ve tried everything to get it out short of taking a drill to it. Any suggestions on how to get it out?? (Guess I should have put some anti seize in it but all the vids I have watched never say to do that)
Nothing better than soap and water
Here is a company that offers a selection of 12 Gauge Black Powder Pistols, both modern and historical replicas, one even is a modern break open action 12 Gauge pistol, with a 6 inch double barrel, says order directly and ships right to your door in most States, no FFL American Gun Craft
sign me up pal
Product may work great, but @ $9 a pop for a can they'll never get a dime of my money. Nothing wrong with CVA. I never give a sucker a break either.
Can you buy this in a kit ?
Just bought my first CVA and new to black powder shooting !
Thanks and GOD Bless
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yes they have a kit on Amazon
I have a question can I use boar butter on my breech plug?
Just use hot soapy water... boom done!
lol this is verbatim from their old video xD just realized!
Do a video on a CVA Sharpshooter .50 cal. Breech plug is not removable. Show how to clean the bore on it.
Hey, I got one of them never fired. It’s right, handed and I’m left handed. Oh well.
The new palm saver ramrod that comes with the new rifles, do you have to buy a whole new palm saver and rod or will the rifles existing rod work with a palm saver handle
If it didn't have one on there before, you'll need a new rod with a threaded in.
Am glad we don't have to use hot water and soap anymore it takes to long the new cleaning stuff they have now its faster and better
Actually it's not. Plus it's expensive too
I thought the nitrite finish was a permanent rust prevention feature also would the liquid cleaner you put on it remove the nitrite finish?, also I never thought about the fire pin and spring. thanks.
It is a chemical process that changes the barrel to be rust proof, so you are correct. However, I would still clean it. The blued and stainless versions can still rust if not properly maintained. The Nitride cannot be removed by cleaner.
@@CVA I own 3 CVAs. My last purchase was the Optima V2 with the nitrite barrel. The one before that, I bought the CVA Optima V2 pistol with the stainless barrel. Do you guys or do you know of anyone that can nitrite a barrel that hasn't had that process done. If not it might be something to consider. I'm sure plenty of people would pay to have it done on muzzleloaders they already own. Another part of the market you could get into. By the way my 3rd CVA is an old Staghorn my wife bought new for me back in 2001.
I also mention something else every time I get the chance. I would love to see you guys come out with a couple blackpowder shotguns. There are a lot of us that turkey hunt also, that would love to see a couple of those in your product line.
I have a CVA Wolf rifle circa 2009. The barrel will NOT separate from the action like on the video. There's what appears to be a big pin at the end of the action.
Do I need to remove this?
Did you take off the forearm?
How often do you need to clean it like say you where target practicing do you need to clean it after every shot
ballout clips2346 I don’t with mine. My first shot on a clean barrel always shoots around 12” high. It shoots dead on with a dirty barrel. I like to leave mine dirty Incase I have to make a second shot on a deer. Not recommended at all, but I leave mine dirty for the week one primitive season where I’m at.
“We’ve made it easy to clean your muzzleloader.”
[features 200 products to clean it]
Do you own a muzzleloader? I’m trying to learn more about it, been thinking of getting one. Do you know if you can use regular gun oil on a patch to lube the inside of the barrel? Or do you have to use the fancy bore butter? My concern with either is powder sticking to the inside of the barrel, is this not an issue?
@@jeffh699 no oil on BP 1 patch of bore butter then a clean patch that’s it
@@jeffh699 always run a dry patch through the barrel before loading it up!
Dawn dishwashing liquid hot water and bucket.
I can’t get the patch to stay on the ram rod, goes in but doesn’t come out.
Why do you run the patch, then take out the plug?
It's easier that way, if you don't it can go in the threads and that's harder to clean up.
@@CVA I love my CVA guns but I'm kinda wondering the same thing. I mean at some point during the cleaning process you have to take out the breech plug and you can still get stuff in the threads.
@@donaldlivingston970 I clean from breach to muzzle and never had a problem 🤷🏽♂️
Load my rifle with powder and patched ball but cap won't set charge off unless I remove nipple and put powder in nipple pan. Cleaned nipple can see all way through it. What causes this?
What exact model is this CVA that is used in this video.
don't need all This cleaning CRAP been sooting black powder for over 52 years the only best way is hot soapy water dry out with hot water Lite oil patch you are completely done enough said
You're missing the point. You need to buy the name brand premium cleaners and lubes to help these guys make their boat payments.
The foaming cleaner doesnt seem to be available on the CVA website anymore. Is that product discontinued? Any downside to using Ballistol, my favorite cleaner.
No not at all. The foaming bore cleaner is just a name brand product. These guys are just advertising the "latest and greatest"
Hoppes has a foaming bore cleaner as well, and it works great on anything from .22 to .50
@@sambrooks107 I use that foam cva muzzleloader bore cleaner it works my gun looks brand new as of if I bought it yesterday but that's your opinion tho
Can hopes number 9 work for a muzzle loader
Yes
You left out how to reinstall the firing pin, which way it's oriented, where to place the spring. These things may not be intuitive to the novice.
I can clean my Hawken in a fraction of that time and a whole lot easier.
OK so how do clean a real MUZZLE loader, without a BREACH plug & firing pin?
Muzzleloaders themselves are cheaper than cartridge firing rifles but you need to buy a lot more cleaning products and they take way longer to clean. Powder, primer, bullet. About $2.00 per shot.
Brand new optima 2 and I cannot get the breech plug out. Any thoughts?
I guess use a pair of pliers or better yet use a pair of vice grips did you shoot it a few times without putting the breech plug grease on the threads if you did that's why it's super hard to get out I hadn't happened with the older style Muzzleloader and end up having to put the damn Barrel in a vice and use some vice grips
@@danielmcbride4828 I got it out with pliers. Sucked - definitely not flawless now but I didn't scratch it too bad! I had a hell of a time sighting this thing in. Should have lubed it up before firing the first shot and now I'm out of primer which I can't seem to find lol. But at least my gun is clean and working.
@@zacharythayer6643 that dude you ain't lying about the primers I can't f****** find them anywhere I do know you can find them online if they want like a twenty-something dollar shipping charge I think it's because it's a hazardous material but it's worth it you got to have them it don't go bang without unless you're going to get you a Zippo out LOL
@@zacharythayer6643 what part of the country you live in I'm in southern Indiana
Very Misleading. If I am not mistaken, this is NOT the recommended materials or procedure for cleaning when using Blackhorne 209 Powder.
Tom Perkins You're right...use conventional cleaners for Blackhorn, like Hoppes
For Blackhorn, follow their procedures from Blackhorn.
Y’all need to stop making it complicated with your gimmicks. I’m sure it’s discouraging a lot of potential customers. I love my CVA and keeping it simple and safe works best for me.
cleaning wasn't what it was about, selling stuff was...
Okay
Wow, that’s not what your description of the video describes it says how do you clean your CVA muzzleloader not break down muzzleloader I don’t have a break down muzzleloader I wanna know how to clean my CVA muzzleloader, which is not this particular one guys are crazy
So you just need 10 different cleaning products....... so easy.......
Exactly. Never been easier. Lol
Your "cleaning in the field" demo was poor. You did not use the rifle's ramrod. You picked up another rod on the table and it had a jag already on it. That's not a "field" demo.
"all you need to do is buy all $150 worth of these products to clean your gun. It's never been easier". Lol whatever.
It's never been easier, you only need 19 things to do it.
I paid $255 for my CVA Optima 2 at budsguns. I ended up buying the CVA starter packages of cleaning products and muzzle loader tools from MidwayUSA. It did cost me about $100.00 for them. Spent about $30 on 777 powder, $30 on 209 primers, and $30 on powerbelt bullets.
My CVE fired when I closed it. Really put me off the brand.
Lol you do know what I am thinking. Learn to read without a teleprompter. Especially on things you should be the expert on
Boiling water from a kettle, protect you hands.
Or buy all this crap.
