After watching this for the 10th time I actually get it lol each area requires you to be able to do a certain amount of damage and this damage amount is reached by acquiring the smithing stones from said area to upgrade your weapons allowing you to battle the enemies of that area, each of these areas has a mine, cave, or full of smithing stones that will allow you to upgrade your weapons making you capable of battling the enemies in that region. Your goal is to find the mines of each area first collect the smithing stones inside, upgrade your weapon to meat the requirements to battle the enemies in that area and then move on to next and that is the flow of Elden ring game play
The bell bearing is obviously a huge help, but the bigger need for the average player is the location of the different level stones that you can pick up without having to defeat a boss (especially levels 5+). Some players just will always be unable to defeat those bosses or shy away from them out of fear. There are always at least a couple instances that each level stone are run across in the wild. I’ve watched streamers find levels 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 in the Caelid areas of the map without having to kill bosses. I wish those levels were farmable and not just single time pickups.
Yeeaaaa this is exactly what I need!..I'm always so hesitant to use certain items in RPGs but upgrading helps so much in this game, I gotta stop worrying about it so much 😄
Thank you so much for explaining how upgraded weapons work no one else that I have seen With a video has been able to clarify in detail like your video thank you again
"Upgrading seems to be a very straight forward system" lol I haven't a clue how to upgrade my weapon I have a variety of 20 smithing stones and haven't a clue how to use them

Where is the room shown at 14:48. I went there once but I can't find it again. And good vid. I personally explored the starting area and went about exploring the whole map and finding the bosses instead of fighting everything I see and I was only finding high level smithing stones and was unable to upgrade even my basic sword from +2 and it was triggering me enough to turn to YT.
NOOB QUESTION: Why cant i upgrade my weaps from +3 to +4 ? I have 17 SS[1], 6 SS[2] ... those 6 SS[2] seems like enough, but nadda. How many SS[2] are needed to jump a +3 to a +4 ?
@@rpjames8And naturally, the game doesnt tell you that until you either discover that part of the map, or someone online clues you in. 🙄 Thx for clarifying. 😄
Thanks mate. Can I ask, I duel weild scimitars but have trouble with mid level bosses like thick skin, or knights with shield, because I have 'slash' attack. Do I need different weapons against them, or can I make scimitars work? Many thanks love your vids 👍
You can definetly make them work! But if you're new. I would strongly advice going for broken ashes of war. Like hoar frost stomp, to comolement your weapons.

I know! But don't worry, you can now have all of the mats in the world and upgrade your stuff like a maniac!
Same here. I finished Last Of Us with a million pieces of salvage materials because I was scared of wasting them and needing them later
@@martinbansey719 💀
I forgot to mention. You need 14 stones of each Tier to complete their Tier upgrade on standard weapons!
I thought it was 12, 2, 4, 6
@@Dragoon200022 lol
Its 12
This is exactly what you missed in this video. I am looking for this answer. Thank you so much for this information 😀

Literally didn’t learn a single thing from this video. Just tangent after tangent.
That's unfortunate, it's exactly what I was looking for.

Another great video! Thank you
I have learned sooo much from your videos! Lvl 91 at the capital and never played a souls game before. Thank you!!

Its on the Round Table hold! ^^
amazing video, thanks bro.
So u can buy any tier of somber smithing stone in roundtable? Even the draconic one ?
Not the dracos. +10 and +25 are only obtainable in world, and theres a límited ammount You can get per playthrough.
@@rpjames8 ohh soo can get unlimited till +9 for somber and +24 am i right ?

Perfect. Thank you
i think its an elegant system.. i wish mmo's would do this .. they are so complicated
I think every game should have it. I hate when I have to swap my cool looking weapon for an ass looking weapon just because it has better stats.
@@rpjames8 dont u have to do that in elden ring too? all the armor and weapons.. u can't transmog anything i dont think
