Combustion was a great spell for pvp if you were using a Pyromancer build in DS3. It hit pretty hard, but it was mostly useful because of how quickly it came out and could punish careless dodge rolling.
we have more diversity in this game when it comes to mages, compared to every other fromsoft game. green, blue and purple ain't too bad, there's even a few red spells and orange ones. plus faith builds use the warm colors red, yellow and orange, so it could make builds confusing if mages used the same color spells as faith builds. although both have black and white fire spells, so who knows.
I rather like the blue; Feels very telling that Sorcery is very singleminded in power in sometimes very differing ways. While Incantations feel like wild Jack of all Trades in their variety of purpose and source of power.
I hope someone comes along in the future and does more of a breakdown/description of each spell. Each one has so many different nuances to it like the obvious ones if it can be charged up, or fired quickly one after another, but there are others like if it can be strung into another spell without needing the initial wind-up between (melee sword spells string with eachother nicely), or 2ndary effects like some gravity spells pulling the enemy toward the caster (and grounding flying enemies) Rock Sling can stagger enemies, Spiral Glintstone pierces through enemies hitting them multiple times. Night Comet and Night Shard NPC enemies won't dodge away from, Night Comet pierces through and can hit multiple enemies if you can angle the target to hit them in a line. etc. etc. etc.
A HUGE help would be for you to show which sorceries are Glintblade, Crystalian, Carian, Gravity, etc... Or which ones inflict frost or bleed or the like. GREAT video btw!!
For a split second when the cast starts you will notice a "logo" with all sorceries... can generally tell by the color too (would be nice if they included in description for color blind people)

Favorite spells in any game. All of them are practical and flashy! It doesn't feel clunky to cast multiple times in a row like past games and other RPGs. Hats off to Fromsoft for this masterpiece.
I'm kind of meh on the spells, most of them are just damaging spells with a different skin. The best I've ever seen is Modded Skyrim with Midas Magic. Taking over an opponents mind or swapping places with an enemy is the type of magic I really love. Turning invisible for 6 seconds or until your next swing then teleporting back to the point you cast the spell. Just a few examples of creative magic. CRPG games based on D&D also tend to have crazy magic. Stuff like Divinity or Pathfinder. Turning things into stone or creating huge areas of entangling vines.

So many skills, and as a PC player i wish i had 22 toolbar slots i could directly access with hotkeys. The cycling through gear/skills in the middle of a fight drives me mad. But of course this would be a big disadvantage for console players in PvP.
I know it's a rush to get these videos out given how flooded content is, but I do miss the voice overs. The item walkthroughs didn't have it and it felt lonely without having a "guide" so to speak

A nice video, as far as it goes. It would be improved so much more by adding a vocal commentary stating how effective the spell is, it's FP per damage efficiency, range and tracking (as examples).
Crystal Release has to be placed properly. I brought down an Erdtree Burial Watchdog Liurnia in 2 hits. You have to be situated correctly for it to just eat enemies. (my first playthrough lvl 45) Also works for fights like Spirit-Caller Snail. 3 hits downed.
A lot of people are saying these are useless. To which I reply. You're not using them right then. Not all spells are meant for a direct attack. Some are used from a distance to just kinda poke the enemy and do chip damage so your big spells can finish em off. Others are TRAPS! Meant for you to lure the enemy in and give you just a little extra damage while you're using other attacks

@@stevecassidy9019 I have not played this but I have played souls games and they have at least a few similar magics that have often been effective in the ways I described. I never claimed to be an expert but I do love mage classes in every game I play that has one. After a while you just learn good ways of using things even in other games. Will every spell work that way? Of course not. Im just saying it's a bit hasty to call them useless when there is a very obvious use.
Of the ones displayed the only ones that have no PVP or PVE utility are probably the rockblaster line, the crystal line and the oracle bubble line,. Every other one is viable in the right circumstances though often they are overshadowed by others in their own line. Between early game, midgame and late game a good 75% of those spells go on the bar at one point or another. For example, Pebble, Great Shard, Icecrag and Cometshard are all in competition with each other and as you need more damage and care less about FP efficiency you evolve through them. Slicer, Piercer and Greatsword are all useful until you get moonblade which does all of their jobs plus takes glintstone arc's lunch as well. However the gravity and magma lines both retain utility for their non-magic damage types. Nothing else does what nightmaidens does and Comet Azure, Metorites and Metorites and Astel all offer different ways to blow your FP bar and convert it to damage. Multiple spells often compete for the same slot but generally I think they are balanced pretty well. Except for bubbles... boy I don't know what they were thinking with that one.

It’s a gear piece called Mohg’s shackle it can be found at the bottom of the subterranean shunning grounds. It could also have been Margit’s shackle because for some reason Margit and Mohg’s shackles work on each other

Someone used a rock spell on me it was similar to the homing lightning bolt but it looked like a gravity spell any clue what it may have been? I cant find ANY info on it
I would NOT respec into a faith build IF there were more gravity spells. Like actually, the coolest school of sorcery in the game and they give it only 5 spells? With 2 of these spells being just weaker versions of the other also?
Unfortunately like 80% of these are mediocre, bad, or just terrible. I really hope they buff most of the sorceries again, even if they nerf ones like Azur Comet at the same time.

Easy fix make the staff your using change the color of your spells
Carrian staffs = blue
Gravity = purple
Death = yellow
Heresey = red
Etc.

The coolest sorceries (for me) are the Gravity Spells, the fact that Radahn uses them makes them even cooler.
I never really liked the spells in most souls games but god damn Elden Ring actually makes magic look awesome.
Adula's moonblade has been a mainstay since I got it on my first playthrough. I'm on NG+5 now still use it.

I started as a sorcerer and now regret it immensly, im stuck shooting blue crap when i could be summoning dragon heads and storms of lightning.

Sadly, only a handful of them have much utility. Many spells do too little damage for the time it takes to cast.

Aww I wish it was organized by school like incants were
Unfortunately like 80% of these are mediocre, bad, or just terrible. I really hope they buff most of the sorceries again, even if they nerf ones like Azur Comet at the same time.
