The Evolution Of A Legend | Jones SWB First Look And Ride

- Last year I reviewed the Jones LWB: a 29 plus equipped rigid bike with a design far from the norm. I loved that bike so much I ended up buying the test one I had been sent. The LWB isn't the only bike Jones sells, so they recently sent me it's little brother, the SWB. In this video, I go over the basics of the bike and take it for a first ride.

It looks like a fun and comfortable bike. I'm really looking forward to the video comparing the LWB and SWB!
My dad was looking for a LWB during the pandemic, but ended up with a nicely-built SWB Spaceframe for a great price. The thing is unexpectedly fast on pavement, and fun on dirt. Your assessment- comfortable, nimble, quick and capable- is quite accurate. The Spaceframe is compliant, but the truss fork is STIFF. My dad absolutely loves it and hasn't ridden another bike since.
Haven’t tried a spaceframe (yet), but could totally see myself on one at some point in the future!
@@RideYearRound It does indeed flex like Jeff demonstrates in his video. That truss though is a jackhammer in chunk. Looking forward to you trying out some Duro Cruxes on the SWB!
+1 on the Duro Cruxes. I’m curious on those in general. Have you tested them before?
@jormah-ha yes I have a video on them in general you should check out. I’m also excited to try them out on the SWB though.
Solid initial review. As an SWB owner myself, totally captures the experience. I’m looking forward to your reviews on the variations of wheelsets and tires, and the SWB vs LWB comparison. Haven’t ridden a LWB yet, but curious. I’ve got G-Ones 27.5x2.8 and the V 3.25… both are awesome, and the fatter V knobbies do make a significant difference for trails IMO. Curious about 29ers on the SWB. Cheers!
Just ordered one. Had great Black Friday deal
Nice review. Looks like a great riding bike for surprisingly variable terrain.
i had an swb and sold it during the pandemic. should have kept the dang thing. I still miss it!!
I will be really curious to hear how you like 29 vs 27.5.
please can you make video about video shooting on bike and cam and settings you are using
Love your work on this channel! I got an LWB last year and love it. Now, weirdly, I'm considering an SWB. I'd like to build one up as a single speed. I can't wait to see your review on the SWB with 29x....did you say 2.6s? It would be equally as cool if you checked it out in S.S. mode.🚴♀
I've just done exactly that, got a LWB which is geared, setup for bikepacking then just got myself an older SWB with ti truss fork and converted to SS. Built up with some lighter 29er wheels it almost feels like an old school xc machine but much more confident on techier stuff.
I like the look of the Speedsters , looks plenty Grippy 😊i also ride full rigid off road a lot
When are you going to do a comparison video? Having trouble deciding between the two. Leaning towards SWB at the moment.
I should have it out by the end of the week.
@@RideYearRound so this is a personal question if you don’t wanna answer I totally get it. I’m curious what’s your weight and height? I’m a larger dude and am mainly interested in Jones bikes as I think it will work well for my size. I’m 6’2 and 265.
@wesleypautsch4221 no worries, I mention that info pretty often. I’m around 5’11” and currently sitting at 235. I think you’d do great on a large Jones of either model.
@@RideYearRound Thanks a bunch man. Looking like I’m going to go with the SWB. Still trying not I work out small or medium frame, but looking like medium. Great content
I’m so interested in this bike! Being 5’11 and 32 inseam puts me on a medium- makes me nervous to take the leap of faith and order without riding. I ride Large bikes usually. Your thoughts?
I’m just shy of 5’11” and have a slightly shorter inseam than you and the medium is perfect. I also usually ride larges.
Thanks, also, how do you know where to set the height of handlebars? What feels right?
I'm 5'11" and 32 inseam and the medium LWB is perfect for me. Bar height is strictly your preference
SPACEFRAME WHENNNNN
I’d love to try one! Space frame, truss fork, and titanium are all I have left to try haha
Jeff should made budget oriented alu version
Making a Jones bike out of aluminum completely defeats the purpose and design philosophy of a Jones Bike. An aluminum Jones bike would have a terrible ride quality when compared to their steel and titanium counterparts. The budget Jones bikes are the complete bikes without truss forks and are built with entry level and private label components.
@@thisishowiedewitt76hyperbolize much? The diamond frame is stiff with lots of steel and weight. It’s not heat treated. The standard fork is available for any build, including high end custom ones. The ride quality has more to do with its geometry, large tires and handlebars. Steel is great until you have to hike a bike. An aluminum version would be interesting. Reviews of the hudski doggler seem very positive. But I can only speak to the SWB, which is have owned since 2018.
@@alsmit5 it always amuses me when people believe every marketing gimmick they hear. Derp! Steel is real! Derp!
@@thisishowiedewitt76 I'm not talking about replacing the entire range with aluminum frames I'm talking about one model. If he dont do it then company will not develop and will remain a niche until the very end.
@@thisishowiedewitt76 Check the statistics of how many Chinese alu , carbon Jones Loop bar replicas were sold.
