  • People often talk to me about trail braking and I often hear the frustration in people's voices about the subject. Sometimes it is the concept, but mostly it is how on earth do you learn the technique and no one hardly ever talks about the muscles and how to use them.
    I am not a professional and this is the view of an average hobby sim racer, but in this video I will share my understanding of trail braking and more importantly how it relates to the Traction Circle.
    Once you understand that basic concept, then I reveal the one tool in GT7 that really helps in building this skill, a tool that I have not found anyone talking about.
    If you really want to get technical about the subject of the traction circle, this video is well worth a watch - • Traction Circle - Expl...

    RACING WITH US IN THE LOBBY
    We have drivers of all ages & racing abilities, A+ DR racers down to E rated racers. Also, we have some racers as young as 11 years of age & some vulnerable adults. It does not matter who they are, we treat everyone equally. The key thing is that we must maintain respect at all times to our fellow community members, spectators & racers alike.
    So, if you wish to race with us & to be part of our PSR community, please keep it clean & respectful at all times. The race sessions are policed & persistent dirty racing will result in a kick. Rubbing is racing, but punting someone off, by accident or otherwise, & not giving the place back, by way of an apology, has no place in our races.
    Respectful means to give the place back if you bump someone on track & you ruin their race. Then 'after' the race, apologize in the UA-cam chat, this smooths everything over & we all remain respectful friends. It also gives the community an opportunity to discuss the incident & for us all to learn from it.
    No drifting, actions that cause yellow flags (parking at the side of the track, spinning over the finishing line, etc.) & be aware of our 'Give the place back' policy. Above all, race respectfully & interact respectfully. Disrespect will not be tolerated & penalties will be given accordingly.
    This respect continues into the chat. Any verbal insults or foul language will not be tolerated & WILL result in an immediate one night race ban. This is to protect our young & vulnerable adults who have joined our community for a fun, healthy & respectful experience & who very often join us for a safe place online to engage & socialize with others.
    The lobby races are open to Friends. Subscribe to the channel & ask for my PSN address in the chat. Make a friend request & I’ll grant that ASAP. These races are based on a first in the lobby basis.
    People that join the lobby but do not join the race in a timely manner will be asked to give up their place or risk being kicked.
    I am trying to have a 5-10 minutes practice session (often when I am doing some housekeeping on the channel, or chatting), then a 5 minute qualifier and then the race itself, often over 10 minutes or so, or longer for the longer tracks like the Nordschleife, Le Mans, etc.
    If you wish to learn more about our ‘Give the place back’ policy and how to do it properly, please review the following video. Our most basic of Rules - 'How To' and 'How Not To' Give The Place Back Properly.

    What I love about your videos, is that you don't get too technical and they are always so very easy to understand. More like this please.

    I’m adapting this lesson to using the controller sticks & motion control. That menu is inaccessible to anyone without a wheel and it’s useful to see the limits to understand how they interact. Really insightful!

    Fantastic explanation there Mitchell - it's a combination of the many trailbraking videos I've watched, but all in one handy place. And a great use of the calibration tool to train and fine-tune your muscle memory too.

    Great advice for the beginner to middle Gran Turismo racer , I used to only brake or accelerate around corners but learnt by osmosis to release the brake and let the speed kick in , again great advice and explanation, took me years to suss this out for myself , so invaluable information for anyone starting out 👍

    thank you for this video Sir. This is defenitively a great explanation how to use the friction circle and how to be more precise during the driving.

      Thank you, that means a lot. I'm not a pro, nor a coach and I am always worried about sharing these sort of (experience) videos. But, I am constantly reminded that there are thousands of people out there like me and who just need someone to explain things simply.

    Thanks for this. It’s my first time hearing about the 100% ‘rule’. I will be sure to revisit the calibration menu and play around with it.

    I just got a wheel and pedals and am still like 5 seconds a lap slower than on controller. This advice should help out alot thanks.

      Thank you for finding my video and for taking the time to reply. I am often told that people moving from controller to wheel find the conversion difficult give it a couple of weeks and I am sure that you will be enjoying the wheel the immersive and you’ll be getting quick quicker. Personally, I am no longer able to race on the controller stick with it my friend. I’m sure it will all work out.

    lol I only just realised that you mirror your camera in these videos. It was the mic that gave it away, now I cannot unsee the Omega logo :(

      Hi Jackson, Only you could pick this up from the mic. Most people have noticed this from the car model on the window sill . Hope you are doing well mate.

    Is this how u can drive without traction control?

    • @razzaus1570
      @razzaus1570 20 днів тому +1

      I think this might be the trick.

    • @playstationracer67-GT7
      @playstationracer67-GT7  20 днів тому +1

      I don’t believe that this is the whole key to driving without traction control. Driving without TCS just means that you need to be more careful and in more control of your car. After all, if TCS is running all of the time, the red icon is flashing, it means that you are likely over driving the car and the car is having to rain you in.
      However, knowing attraction circle and how a car grips the track will certainly help with you learning to race without TCS. For what it’s worth, I usually run with TCS off or on one in Gran Turismo, my advice would be to try to reduce it steadily overtime whilst you’re learning
