How to: Fix Sticky/Gummy Wrangler Door Handle Buttons

A quick DIY done on the left rear door, but should be similar to all the other doors for a Jeep Wrangler JKU.
Note: at 02:30 at the part where you're pulling the panel cover off after unscrewing everything, you may need to pull fairly hard in a controlled fashion and don't be afraid to flex the panel cover a bit. You should hear stuff popping off.

If you actually remove the handle from the jeep and tear it further apart you'll see its a galvanized pin molded into the plastic handle that guides threw a plastic pushing that pushes on a lever. The galvanized coating on my pin wore off and it was bare steel and rusted, the rust built up and caused it to become sticky in the plastic bushing. My jeeps a 2015, i started having issues with mine in 2017 now I have to tear my handles apart every spring and sand the rust off and coat the pin with grease or else the handles become so sticky that they don't latch the doors. I tried sanding them and spray galvanizing the pin than using a graphite lubricant but it quickly wore off and started rusting again. I found your video because now my latch mechanism is rusting up and the door won't latch from the inside because the latch itself is rusting because the galvanized/zinc coating wore off on it.

Oh man, I would definitely coat the rest of your inner doors with some rust inhibitor spray.

I have this issue but worse. My latch is stuck pushed in, and wont release. Causing my door to not open at all. I've taken the door panel off, sprayed wd40 all around the mechanism, tried prying the button latch out. But nothing is working.
