I generally approve of the muscle strain system/ I can see turning it down, and if higher fitness doesn't speed recovery from strain, it should, but in general, the idea is sound. Chopping wood is exhausting. Breaking things up with sledges and crowbars is fatiguing. Fighting with hand weapons is one of the more tiring full body workouts you can do (yes, I have years of experience doing HEMA). This should encourage players to actually take some fighting skills if they want to be able to really fight on day one, instead of every basement dwelling nerd and office worker being able to solo a horde of zombies right off the bat
My first death happened when I was driving and I ran over a chicken I think it was and the noise it made scared the shit outa me and I crashed and got swarmed....I love b42 lol
The thing with the fatigue, I think the idea is right, but the implementation needs adjusting. This game, to me, has always been more about survival with as little combat as possible because you arent playing rambo, you are joe blow, regular citizen now surrounded by zombies. You wouldnt be going out there with 400 rounds of shotgun ammo grinding out aiming skill on 2k zombies at a time like its nothing if the zombie apocalypse happened to you, so why would your character? (I have seven days to die for that lol) When I started watching people play this game it was all about sneaking around, whisper calling a couple zombies out of the crowd at a time and fleeing if more than a handful started toward you. The way i saw it, the game was more meant to be crafting and scrounging than killing. To me, zomboid is about building a life for yourself while avoiding trouble as much as possible because you shouldnt be able to handle it. That so many experienced players have found a way to take this game and turn it into one where they are regularly doing 4-5 digit kill totals per run is wild and amazing to see, but I think its against the spirit of what the game devs wanted. Which is why they added this fatigue system. Now you CANT just go stride into downtown with three spare melee weapons and backwards walk your way through 150 zombies per day. It is good they added the option to disable it though, unlike the fun pimps who greatly enjoy forcing their players down whatever vision they have for the game, at least here you can still do it how you like more or less.
You have some good points but one very dumb point you made was not going out with 400 shotgun shells to grind your aiming level well the point could be made that you wouldn't need to grind your aiming level like that in real life and you would have much more options to be able to like setting up cans in a remote location to shoot at so wtf Is the point of having guns then?
I like how the game has a slower pace and tougher fights. It brings a lot more thought to get around large hordes. For muscle strain, I set it to 0.6 in sandbox, and it seems to be a good level for it.
Not having to go deep into the woods or digging through a warehouse for an antique stove is huge. Of course, you still have to rely on RNG but there is now a chance or finding them in Rosewood.
I run the muscle strain on 0.8 and its a pretty good balance between having to calculate every encounter and actually being able to kill a decent amount before having to rest.
@zombie-ash-gaming Just don't forget to close the door before you drive. Also maybe install Vanilla Vehicles Animated. It got build 42 compatability added.
Muscle strain being this aggressive is the most realistic thing they've added. Coming from experience most of us would struggle this much as the average person. Edit: I mean like trying to instantly become physically active after spending a long time sedentary
I started a run with a zero fit and 1 str in echocreek. In term of muscle strain, i did not care and could kill 50-70 a day. By overweighting myself at all time and siting and reading when tired, the character took + 1fit and +3 str in day while cleaning the city of all house there is the coolest base upstair the gas station and you can take it slow discovering
@@zombie-ash-gaming Though when you do so, make sure to close the door after. i kept having my car do the 'door unlocked' noise/alarm first time i did it and I was wondering for ages what the alarm was lol.
just a heads up plumbing is bugged still. it worked for me but that does not mean its gonna work for everyone. if you find your one is bugged my suggestion is to back out of the game, turn on debug mode and plumb it in using that. its not cheating if you got everything required and setup right only for a bug to come along. hopefully this will be helpful to someone
@@randomhero6365 really? How strange. I just right clicked and plumbed in the sink. So it seems I'm the one who encountered a bug by being able to do it. The game was having more than a fair share of errors when I first updated the game. Was at first stuck on the main. Menu with no words showing up and being unable to close the game without alt+f4.
I suggest you add a mod called PZK Vanilla Like Car Pack, it was one of the first mods to add B42 compatibility. It's not a game changer, it basically adds variety to in-game cars, the creator did an amazing job at replicating the vanilla style of cars, and if you don't know every single vanilla car model you will genuinely have trouble distinguishing vanilla from modded
in regards to muscle strain and the intended direction of the game being realism, i think its fine. i haven't messed with it much but i feel if it doesn't act like this already, making muscle strain reduce as your various weapon skills alongside athletic skills increase. i do combat sports and my arms would absolutely get tired after 10-20 hard-as-possible swings, especially all panicky and adrenaline dumpy early on like any given zomboid survivor would be. Doubly so since you're actually impacting sonething and that shock of impact strains your muscles too. it's annoying, but it's real.
Figured I'd go live in a cabin in the woods, turn up at the one near Muldraugh, literally almost 100 zombies all in the woods, absolute death trap, lost my best character so far.
Just imagine using a metal pipe against 4 people, one by one tho. First one is down with a few hits, easy. Second one is also easy. Third one, now im getting tired man... Fourth person, yeah I could win but i dont think i can for a 5th person before just sitting down and rest some. So id say, muscle strain is pretty realistic, although I hope they tune down the darkness a little bit. Human eyes can adapt ti darkness pretty good, and even curtains don't block 100% of the sun, or moon. The night feels like there isnt a single star or the moon in the sky... Maybe one day they will add dynamic clouds so sometimes you will be able to see thank to the moon but if its fall or winter and weather is cloudy, it would be darker.
In build 41, are you able to change the settings of the current game you're playing? Such as turning off certain options or making zombies easier or harder? If so where can you change it?
I turned down my strain to 0.75 and it's fine. It's enough for me to feel it and plan how i take fights but it's not that annoying like it is at 100%.I found that it's better to just have higher level of weapon skill than higher fitness and strength at least in my case.Had a character with Fit and Strong that died but now i run Park Ranger with Brawler and with axes/long blunt he feels better, maybe adding some STR for this push bonus would be nice idea.

@@zombie-ash-gaming Hmmm I'll have to give it a try once I jump into Build 42 myself. Thanks!
@bucklax31 no worries, it has changed a little now as you have to keep fast forwarding after each click which is a little annoying but in 41 it kept speed in fast forward
@@zombie-ash-gamingyou can keep it sped up if you wait till you reach the destination to click again
Some mods require you to unsubscribe and resubscribe I find.
Things like the common sense mod needed me to resubscribe to it anyway to show up
Thanks mate

I can't stand the moodles. Otherwise, everything looks awesome.
They are growing on me now tbh, iv turned them down even more and they are ok now 👌🏻
Turned off muscle strain... that sucks. I just found your channel and honestly I don't think I'll continue watching you.
No worries buddy, if you don’t enjoy it don’t watch 👌🏻
No muscle strain, skill issue
