for crafting that requires any surface, like putting a new handle on a hammer head, you can just use *any flat, raised surface* a table, the top of a dresser, a countertop, that sorta thing you can make a dedicated crafting station for it in the form of a chopping block (literally just 1 log and uses a saw) but it's not necessary. you can just put a table in your crafting area. maybe store your crafting tools atop it, too
House allarms now are not as dangerous as it was in b41 because zombies are now have randomized speed, hearing and memory. Alarm is going out sooner then most of them can get to a sound source. This is not the case in big city like a West Point or Louisville so be aware. Small tip to a new players - you can outwalk most of the zombies so you better do that and fight only small groups of 2-3 zombies until your weapon of choise skill go up to level 3-4. Upd: also I don't want to be that guy, but 21:59 yes you are Lime, yes you are 😏
@Pr1vateLime yes, especially when you're trying to lure out a large horde, but half of them just lose interest in you and all you get is a stretched out horde in your retreat path
Yea it feels like it's more difficult to kite hordes away since some seem to "lose interest" quite quickly and just loiter around. Also, some seem to have better hearing than before. So while bashing in a z skull you're more likely to attract others when in b41 there was a pretty clear cut off point. I believe we saw an example of this @23:00
AND you're STILL leaving your front door open sometimes when you go out and about. LOL! Gotta watch that good sir. No matter how you slice it... You are in a "Bad part of town" no matter where you go.
@@Pr1vateLime I wanna live in your city if you're able to just leave your doors open when you go out. LOL! I haven't been able to do that since I was very young and in a VERY small town. (You know the kind... You know or are related to everyone. LOL!)
Man i remember when i first bought pz and watched your series for build 41, i was a total noob lol but your videos def helped a ton. Im just watching the build 42 series for nostalgia lol i already have a 2 months character.
8:05 , a zombie that doesnt hear you, isnt a blind zombie. Its a deaf zombie brother hahah ! and yes if you set hearing of zombie to random, there will be deaf aswell.
Small tip for the kiting, zombies have identical speed when their arms are forward, namely when they're within a certain range of you. Your loops should be focused on "snagging" the slower ones and keeping their arms out as they pull ahead of the rest of the hoard. Eventually you'll need to loop back around again to catch the second slowest group, and so on. It takes longer than it did before to get them where you want, but losing them is much much easier, so it kind of works out to be about the same in terms of difficulty.
You guys are aware that a gas generator emits exhaust. The type of exhaust a car emits. But go ahead and put that Jenny from the block in your basement. Also protip if you put two vehicles back to back. You can put a tarp over them and keep yourself warm with that exhaust 😅
I'm new to zomboid and having a new build come out as i was learning was terrifying to me, but with this series its become really fun! (i hope you continue it even after the week is over though)
I started in MD in that posh area near Courtman Medical, normal zombie population, and I had over 100 zombie kills before I even made it out of the street, lol
I wish they put a house alarm system on the inside or outside of the home so the player can tell if there's an alarm or not. and if their is they can fiddle with it using the players electrician skill to disable it and if it fails to disable the alarm gets triggered.
Currently ill, just out of the hospital on time for Christmas, I can't wait to put my hands on v42, fortunately you're there with your videos to make me feel better and well entertained, thanks Lime 😊
i'm creeping up on 300 hours and this is still my favorite zomboid series. Just goes to show how good it is Edit: nevermind you made me lose The Game. how dare you
Installed build 42 today. Liked the menu and the new options to toggle. The ability to just turn off respawn was nice, as I've had playthroughs where setting it to zero glitched it to respawn zombies as soon as something was off-screen. Downside is that I get a black screen as soon as I start a playthrough 😂 Seems to be a common bug depending on the rig so I'm just waiting for the patch for now. Until then I'll keep watching this series to see what I should prepare for.
@Pr1vateLime update. Lost my first character because ripping clothing takes longer than I'm used to and I bled out from a scratch after finishing off the zombies😂 In other words, they fixed that within days. Really impressive!
You know, there are a lot of bad smells that don't bother me at all, but I cannot STAND rotting meat, whether its something like meat in the fridge gone bad, or bloated roadkill. A Zombie apocalypse would be very bad for me. ...i mean, aside from, you know, everything else.
Funny. I can stand rotten flesh... but not stale bodily fluids (think old un-flushed toilet) and vomit of any kind. We're bros in our suffering here 🤝🏻
I don't think the basements are random, at least not all of them. The store across from the gas station in the middle of WP has the same basement that includes an anvil, and a nearby house tends to have a basement with, uh... a red-lit bed and camara on a trpod...
Man metal crafting must be so much more detailed if we're using actual stationary machines to make stuff! Not to mention all the new farming stuff with those pesticides. Good to know the kiting technique still works, with some effort cuz of the varied speed. It does make me wonder how one is supposed to handle high population areas with this new fatigue system. I suppose we'll figure that out eventually!
I've noticed the house alarm is not as bad as it was in build 41, i'm not sure if this is a bug that will be fixed or if it's permanent but i'm 24 days in have hit 4 house alarms looting and the radius of the zombie's it attracts seems a lot less where I did what you did when I tripped an alarm and it only seemed to attract a few from the immediate area. I actually had more turn up at once just from migration so it may be a bug i'm thinking
I still have an irk with Short Blade weapons. The crit instakill is great and all but getting locked into that animation with multiple zeds nearby is a near death sentence. Use these weapons at your own risk with hordes or multiples.
it sounds like there is a 'loot over time' mechanic that could cause buildings to have their loot removed over a period of time. Would that apply to the hardware store if you have already been there? If so I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to just put everything on the floor so its 'off the shelves'. Great series :)
A few issues I have with B42 as it stands Muscle strain in arms - kicks in way too fast imo, glad you can tune it and I don’t mind muscle strain in the back Zombie movement speed - I enjoyed the consistency with zombie, also the shamblers take way too long to get anywhere Being able to see through solid fences - sucks and really gives you a false sense of safety, definitely needs to be disabled Expanding on the view cone - I dont like not being able to see my hearing radius behind me, it doesn’t feel too good New moodles - give me back my pixel moodles >:(
the reason why barely any zombies came is not only because you cleared a bit and the wall but also because of how early your wipe is and most importantly luck
With how this beta says it's going to be. You might be able to do another run of your caveman/crafting only challenge! That would be very fun to see in the new beta.
It's my understanding that with the current build of Zomboid, generators don't work downstairs. You would have to take the generator downstairs and if you do that you risk dying of CO2 poisoning.
Praying this becomes a 'Your first month in Zomboid' series.
Then "your first year in zomboid"
i think first month is likely since a lot of the new content is end game

Quick tip: foraging in B42 is much more useful, you can have an axe and nail-drivable hammer from just walking around
Generators don't work in basements at the moment so they don't make good bases after the power goes off
I really hope this is a bug and not intended. otherwise so many people are going to avoid using them for convenience of lighting alone.
