Can you imagine being a survivor and driving into this area, for miles you see piles and piles of corpses, who did this? the military? highly trained mercenaries? a hoard of dangerous wild animals? and then you meet the man who litterally sits a top a mountain of tens of thousands of the dead, one man killed all of them, one man left this much carnage in his wake. That man? John Zomboid.
Imagine being the military personnel in the chopper seeing this guy fighting entire hoard with a long metal stick. You come back and there he is again, and again. Then when you see him again he has a mini gun mowing down hoards. He just keeps killing and killing.
A thought : If zombie apocalypses were strictly realistic (and by proxy, project zomboid), that blizzard within the game would have wiped out every single zombie in the area, leaving only John Zomboid alive because he had a heater. They're wearing no clothes, and the severe cold would have made every cell in the zombies' bodies quite literally disintegrate due to the water inside them freezing and turning into microscopic spikeballs, stabbing holes in the cells from the inside out.
Well, the ones inside would probably be ok, really depends on how cold it gets. The wind chill is usually what makes it the worst. Would still like zeds to be more affected by the weather at least.
If it was hyper realistic, the zombies would be dead or heavily crippled in a month due to the muscles either rotting away or being overworked to the point of tearing. Not to mention they would be blind in a few days of the infection since they dont blink or have anything hydrating their eyes.
To build on what you said, food would run out, and human bodies still need energy to run. No energy means they'd slow down and die out. Zombies would have to resort to dead bodies or eating other zombies to survive, creating zombie zombies.
@@GCanopus i like to imagine there are people that are immune to the knox infection that serve as fodder for them. you could also probably get away with the sickness causing your body to produce antifreezing agents if you suspend your disbelief a little, like with stuff like snowfleas where they have antifreeze in their blood

so, I did a quick search to find the population of Knox County in 1993, the time in game, and it's something like ~30,600. Another quick search says that in game they're around 52,000 to 74,000 zombies. I was just curious when I found this video and looked to see how many you really have to kill. Good job on the video man and keep up the great work!
John Zomboid must have been listening to Free Bird the entire time. Btw, Louisville had a population of 500k+ in 1993, so... I'm looking forward to seeing that.

Okay, straight up. Ricksdetrix is the greatest PZ content creator. This was 2 hours of incredible entertainment. Thank you Rick. I did especially enjoy, about 30 mins in after making possibly the worst PZ scenario I can imagine, Rick saying "Why? Why?! I hate this!" as if he didn't do all of this himself. I've used disinfect or die a few times, but it gets tedious. There is a "playable" variant on the workshop that I've not tried yet, but I'm going to have to give it a go, because first aid mattering, but not being overwhelming would be a great upgrade to PZ play. The massive hordes making bombs meaningful is very interesting. As I saw Rick manually adding annotations to his map - "Share Annotations" is a mod that lets you transfer them easily.
Thanks! Disinfect or die is kinda trivialized by sterilized rags and fast healer, once you get the sterilized rags you just gotta keep some on you and you never get wound infections. share annotations sounds like nice QoL but I kinda like manually transferring them, I'll definitely add it though, it'll be more immersive
I really enjoy the roleplay element in your videos. It's not just "here's the scenario, lets crush it using all the meta skills we can," it's "i AM this character and i'm trying to react as realistically as possible to what feels like a nightmare come to life" and it's engaging as all get out

A tip for fighting zombies on fences that I've seen is to wait at the legth that a zombie lunge will be at, so if they lunge, they don't hit you, and you only kill the ones that lunge. This is only useful for large hordes, really, but idk it might be helpful for you
I always love videos where the creator kinda RPs the character they are playing as. This was such a sick video. The hordes looked awesome, no Ui stuff to get in the way just one notification before the screen fills up with zombies, beautiful
The editing was brilliant but I gotta say, the music combined with the sounds of zombies dying is my favorite piece of this 2h long movie. Absolutely fantastic work.
It always amazes me how casual Rick makes killing thousands of zombies with all the possible negative moodles active look. Meanwhile I die after 20min trying to shove a single zombie and getting bitten in the face. Man is just built different
@@prvt.harumi6821 if you can spare 530-ish bucks, you can get the .22lr MP5 made by Umarex and sold by HK, which is what I’ve got. IMO it’s a much better plinking gun than a Ruger 10/22.
Hey Rick I just wanted to say thank you for the editing your zombie kills into the music! I really enjoy it and I know it takes a lot of work! Keep up the hard work man!
"I have like a thousand rounds of .22" "the only gun that used them sucked" Yeah, that's what it's like IRL. Very small round used mostly for target shooting or plinking. Almost zero stopping power, but comes in large quantities and is very cheap compared to literally any other caliber.
I genuinely found watching your kill montages exhausting, I cant imagine *actually* being the one in a 1000+ zombie fight over 3 hours of actual real life time.
i know he's British so it will be less common knowledge, but for anyone unaware of what .22lr ammo is it's a tiny bullet meant for hunting small animals and in some states training kids for firearms safety. it's like half the size of 9x19 handgun ammo.

A tip for fighting zombies on fences that I've seen is to wait at the legth that a zombie lunge will be at, so if they lunge, they don't hit you, and you only kill the ones that lunge. This is only useful for large hordes, really, but idk it might be helpful for you
1:04 bro think he rick girms
💀
He no Rick Girms! I knew Rick Girms. He no Ricky 'full of' Girms.
I always love videos where the creator kinda RPs the character they are playing as. I feel like it helps to get me invested into the story and events they are going though as well as showing the creativity of whoever is making the video. Great vid Ricky and I cant wait to see your next crazy adventure. 🤙
Yeah, the fuckin...Pinpoint hearing is killer. A private server I play on has 16x population and pinpoint hearing. It's always a wild trip with lots of zombie fighting. Shit's wild.
Loved the tboi playlist, it fit surprisingly well with the game
The entire vid is just
“And that attracted the horde”
This is a pretty fun video, which is rare for "I SURVIVED A BAJILLION DAYS IN ZOMBOID WITH LUDICROUS SETTINGS", so thank you for making a well-made video exploring your journey, I think I'll be sticking around to watch some more videos of yours!
Unrelated, but I have to include it: Hearing the Slay The Princess theme 54 minutes into this caught me so off guard I actually blurted out "Wait what the fuck" at 4am. The whiplash of hearing that song used for this game nearly knocked me out of my chair lol
New drinking game: Take a shot every time you think "surely this has to be a bite" and it turns out to be scratch or laceration
If it was a bite the video wouldn’t be so long
@@Jim-Bagel fair enough
Odd how he never gets bit or infected... I wonder if he has the zombie infection turned off and can just die from blood loss/trauma only.
@@Accurize2 might be that bite chance from behind is turned off, but other than that it doesn't seem to crazy. Scratches and lacerations have a relatively low chance to infect you
I've watched your Louisville rooftops series three times by now and I'm watching this one a second time. There is something really enticing about your narration and video making, alternating between character PoV and player PoV. It's quite a charming mix, keep it up man !
10 minutes in, already on the roof...
Truly a rooftop guy moment xDd
I just can't help myself
@@Ricksdetrix that's why we love you
This was such a sick video. The hordes looked awesome, no Ui stuff to get in the way just one notification before the screen fills up with zombies, beautiful
stop making me want to play another 200 hours of zomboid in a month
The editing was brilliant but I gotta say, the music combined with the sounds of zombies dying is my favorite piece of this 2h long movie.
Absolutely fantastic work.
Project Zomboid: This is how you died.
Ricky: Hold my sanity.
the fact you used burn ward patient so you didn't have access to molotovs for this challenge is actually psychotic
"the lights were on but nobody was home." me fr
Don't think i've ever seen such a well edited gameplay on UA-cam in the past 15years
Burned man with injured foot goes into coma, awakens to become Achilles.
It always amazes me how casual Rick makes killing thousands of zombies with all the possible negative moodles active look. Meanwhile I die after 20min trying to shove a single zombie and getting bitten in the face. Man is just built different
A 2 hr Rick video is the perfect thing to have on in the background while I work on my fursuit tail and clean my MP5.
amen!
i wish i had the money for an MP5
@@prvt.harumi6821 if you can spare 530-ish bucks, you can get the .22lr MP5 made by Umarex and sold by HK, which is what I’ve got. IMO it’s a much better plinking gun than a Ruger 10/22.
Hey Rick I just wanted to say thank you for the editing your zombie kills into the music! I really enjoy it and I know it takes a lot of work! Keep up the hard work man!
"I have like a thousand rounds of .22"
"the only gun that used them sucked"
Yeah, that's what it's like IRL. Very small round used mostly for target shooting or plinking. Almost zero stopping power, but comes in large quantities and is very cheap compared to literally any other caliber.
I love the choice of the flash isaac soundtrack it works super well
Dude the darkest dungeon reference was peak
“Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer” quote from the ancestor if anyone is wondering
Issac music is such a banger for this kind of content. Banger video, love it!!!
-14 views, 3 seconds, the consequences will be catastrophic
the sheer dedication required to edit the kill sounds to the beat of the music is profoundly impressive
you ARE the fucking doomslayer
I genuinely found watching your kill montages exhausting, I cant imagine *actually* being the one in a 1000+ zombie fight over 3 hours of actual real life time.
No hate, but complaining about the amount of zombies when you set zombies to pinpoint is funny.
*shoots guns*
Who brought in all these zombies?
Darkest dungeon reference and the binding of isaac music used not even half way into the video? You are incredible
See you in 1 hour, 54 minutes, and 23 seconds
I'm really shit at this game don't have patience but love watching this long form content
Maybe i am stupid and miss something, but why is your menu and your timeline showing way less days gone by than the dates on your digital clock?
I've never played Project Zomboid, but your videos are so well done that I watch them all.

@@Ricksdetrix Destroyable world fences, and i dont know what mod did you use to random zombies ( day and night)
Imagine what perfect shape this guy would be in after months of continues work.

i know he's British so it will be less common knowledge, but for anyone unaware of what .22lr ammo is it's a tiny bullet meant for hunting small animals and in some states training kids for firearms safety.
it's like half the size of 9x19 handgun ammo.
18:53 Fucking got me 😂
