Hi! Thanks for this. Sdi cable is relatively inexpensive so can you tell me why you recommended fibre optic instead? Thanks in advance

      Hi SiE,
Welcome. Depends on setup. Not everyone knows about Decimator converters to utilize SDI. For context, may Users utilize HDMI only, therfore that statement for cable length to maintain signal integrity. And No Redmere HDMI. Those are hit or miss and not reliable 100% of the time. Appreciate your question and comments.

@@BuildOrBuy Thanks for response your video has been really informative. I'm new to all this but I'm thinking running a long SDI cable from a 4K camera into a SDI to HDMI capture box and then running the HDMI to the computer. Does this sound like a a viable option to you?

      Hi@@SiEmon_E,
Yes. Define long. SDI for 1080 is good to 300 feet. Yes it can go longer. Suggest a signal booster. Maybe 75 feet of same cable for 4K. Yes that can go longer. Better cable required for signal integrity. A Decimator on each end. The signal converter is the key to signal integrity. Yes, quality cables are essential too. How many cameras. At what distance. Are you going to Live Stream? Do you have the Bandwidth. This is where Fiber is preferred over copper. Test your setup to verify your throughput.

I've bought a 75m(100ft) sdi cable for live steams on Facebook/UA-cam from a single Canon xa60 4k camera running through a BlackMagic sdi to hdmi capture card. Been having trouble with the data rates and not getting what supposed to be but that will be sorted out soon hopefully.

      Hi@@SiEmon_E,
Are You losing signal? You may need a Decimator Converter to stabilize the signal. Blackmagic gear historically requires specifics to be exact. The Decimator can give the Blackmagic gear what they expect.

      Hi@@MrMcdougalls,
Welcome. Plane Spotting? Live Streaming? Are you familiar with LiveU? That may be your best option for remote. Utilizes a Bonded or Aggregated connection for bandwidth.

      I@@davidhaolai,
      Nikon D5100, OK!
      1. USB - Ecamm Live
      2. HDMI - Type C mini-pin HDMI connector
      3. 1080 / 30
      4. You should have a menu for Clean HDMI out. You'll have to Test and Verify. Hope that helps!

      HI@@davidhaolai,
Absolutely! Yes, use what You have if possible. Since You have the Audio Gear, run Your Audio in through the Camera to keep everything in sync. Keep it simple!
What Audio interface are You using? On that Camera, looks like You have 3 options.
      1. The A/V cable
      2. Stereo mini-pin jack (3.5mm diameter) - Best Solution.
      3. HDMI - To embed Audio into HDMI requires a Converter.
This is easy with SDI. And We have done that. Here's a Consumer product that may be able to do that. We have not tried it out.
RCA to HDMI,AV to HDMI Converter, ABLEWE 1080P Mini RCA Composite CVBS Video Audio Converter Adapter

If You bring the Audio into the Streaming Device apart from the Camera You may experience a sync lag. Yes You can compensate for it.
In the Future, if You get a Video Camera, get a Pro Camera with XLR Inputs.
We feed Our Video Cameras and Audio Gear into the Video Switch. Simple. Hope this helps! Have fun! Keep Us Posted!
