Вставка

- In this video I talk about how to select a camera for live streaming. If you stream to Facebook Live, UA-cam Live or your Website, you're going to need to select a camera to use. What are the requirements you should be looking for when you purchase cameras for your live stream setup? I hope to answer those questions in this video.

Ballast Media @ You are the best !!
Hello ! LOVE the info you deliverd on this video.now have a question as 2019 I want to start my UA-cam channel is about paranormal investigation.what camera you require for starters.you think the vixia 800 still be a competitor because lots of people are filming 4k .hope to hear from you.iam looking to make videos at night in very dark locations..so is there any other camera besides canon vixia 800 you have in mind at a great price like under $500 has good quality recording let me know.have a good one.
Ballast Media hello,
I am setting up a camera (Panasonic vx870) to record our sermons for our website. I am not having luck getting OBS or any Mac software to recognize my camera as anything other than an sd card. Can you assist me with this issue?
@@Lukkydog68 It doesn't sound like you're doing much more than plugging your camera's USB port into your computer, and if that's the case, you'll need some means of capturing the video output of your camera instead of connecting via USB. If I'm way off, sorry, more details on your setup are required.
Hey my teacher my name is Nshize conseiller am congolese I need to be you student/ I need to know more about to live stream / how to live on UA-cam, Instagram and face book thanks to you're study on UA-cam am happy for this lesson so that my request
"The reality is, spending more on a camera is just going to show your poor lighting, better." That cracked me up.
Yes !! Please make those videos!!! You have a gift to explain this subject to beginners like myself
I’m so happy I found your channel! Great info & suggestions, and a wonderfully organized presentation. Thank you so much!
Kudos, you nailed it, Stephen. After doing video and audio for several decades I arrived at exactly the same conclusions as you presented here. Keep up the good work.
Finally i decided to subscribe, your time you’re not showing off or being obnoxious. I like what you do. Thanks I’ve learned a lot from your videos.
The information I've been seeking for some time. It was comprehensive, to the point, and reinforced with graphic illustrations. I wish all UA-cam instructional videos were presented in this manner!
This is one of the most sober reviews ever. Thank you. So simple and so informative
Thanks for this clear concise information. We've been live streaming our church service for a little over a year and I am looking into adding some angled cameras, but didn't want to spend a fortune. This looks like a great option.
Thanks for providing direct audio into camera for syncing. I have always face audio sync out issue through machine. Thanks for this technique.
You are such a good teacher! Appreciate these videos.
A'm very glad to hear the hint for using the audio input of the cam! I'm searchig for a long time to solve the problems sync audio/video without software, thanks a lot, (now I will test it)
Merve Juan Fedrau
I have never subscribed to a youtube channel before. This is the first--maybe the only one--I will ever subscribe to. You talk is incredibly well-organized and clear. Thankyou.
Great video. You just cleared my confusion about which camera is good for me. I ordered vixia hf r800 from canon website but it was refurbished. With one year warranty. Not received yet but it’s on the way. Thanks
I really like the information and recommendations given, thanks.
That was very informative and really answered a lot of questions I had. Thanks so much!
Your video is SO helpful. Thank you SO much!
Thanks for your informative and thorough videos. It's been a great resource for helping us improve our streaming.
Wow. Thank you really. You’ve made it so simple to understand. I have little experience with video cameras (I do photography); but I’ve been trying to figure out something for live-streaming for my church. As of now they’ve only managed below-SD-quality with mono audio and it’s 2020!
This was very usual! Please keep making vids...I found yours at the right time. Totally changed my mind on what camcorder I was going to buy. Thanks
Glad you found it useful. Stay tuned, I've got a whole line up of videos coming in the next couple months starting real soon!
I use a Cannon HF R800 and even now it is a great camera for easy to plug a microphone into and easy to set up for making tutorials. I would like a more expensive one some day but it is a great bang for your buck camera. And I like it better than any Cell Phone camera and use it for my home video's as well!
Thank you, Stephen. I want to do livestream for UA-cam but I did know what camera should I buy or start with! In mind I was thinking at least $2000 camera but watching this helped soooo much. I think I will start with the entry level camera and Keep the same brand to grow with it. I will watch your videos how to connect it and use it. I hope you have done this videos. I am new and I believe starting with this options will be great idea. God bless you.
Thank you for the basic introduction.
I'll be looking for more.
Another great video, again, wish I'd found it before I trialled my first stream! haha
Well presented and thoughtful for beginners. Great Stuff
Thank you Thank you for one of the best info on camera
You are wonderful wish I'd found you a week ago it would have saved me going dizzy searching for info that you have all in this one video. Big huge thumb up and thanks
Definitely helped me pick out the next camera for my Twitch channel :)
Thank you so much for these vids so helpful
Very informative. For us beginners its nice to know I don't have to take out a loan to start. Great video, please keep them coming.
Awesome video. Can you please do a "Best Cameras for live switch and recording (on a budget)" please.
Or do you recommend the r800 for this purpose also?
Love your videos!!
I got my VIXIA. I used a wireless mic device, plugged the mic side into the headphone jack on the sound board, the receiving end into the mic-in of the camera. Sweet! Works great! Direct sound without stringing a long cable all the way to the camera!
Mhen...., Mr. Ballast, your videos are a whole multimedia course. Thanks mhen. I wonder how you get rewarded putting out all of this valuable info for church techs completely FREE!!
thank you. best guide I have watched
Love your videos Steve! Subbed
Steve. Thank you for your videos. Finding them really helpful as we are starting to live stream. Have purchased Canon HF R800. Can you advise what settings you have found work best?
It is very helpful, I go with your recommendation. Thanks
Helpful video; thanks so much!
Very good info. Thank you!
I subscribed to your channel because i found your video really helpful in creating inspirational video for my channel. I recommend people to try out this
Thanks. I am a total newbie setting up a Broadcast studio (only 4 months building, then 3 weeks setting up the 2 x G21 and SMB7s!!).I had my Canon Vixia G21 HDMI going into the PC's SS slot fine. The Sure SMB7 mic went into the Mixer and a small 3.5mm jack and lead out going to the PC. No sound! Watched your clip and realised the 3.5mm should have been going from the Camera Audio Out to the Mixer - via a 3.5mm to 6.9mm converter. This let me turn off the Internal Mic on the G21 (without anything int eh Audio Out the Mic Internal Off function is greyed over) and bingo it picked up the SMB7! Even Canon helpline couldn't help...
This is a great video. Thanks!
Thank you for upload this great video explain. I love all your videos
Thanks alot for this , May God Bless you brother
Thank you for clearing that topic out. Could you post a video on how to connect audio input to entry level camera and what is the difference between line-in and microphone input (what does cameras support and how does it work with mixer/audio interface)?
Great info thanks
Bardzo pomocny materiał, szczególnie, że szykuje się do większej ilości streamów. Pozdrawiam :)
Thank you sooooooo much , we have just started to live stream our church services, your videos on youtube has helped us very very much. We have learnt a lot from u . Thank u once again brother.
I just wanna say thanks for this video.... The PTZ Is so expensive, when you would have a better production with 2/3 Canons... Thank you so much for the video. :-)
This video was really helpful! I'm planning to begin live videos for my ministry and was lead to your channel. God bless you!
Awesome, peace of Christ be w you. Thinking of the same. Which model camera did u go with?
Simple and really easy to understand specially for us who are just starting. God bless!
Dude you’re really good. I have a question for you. I want to add a second camera, just purchased this one for LIVE STREAMING. I don’t know a lot about a switcher to toggle between cameras during broadcast. What would you recommend and do you have a video explaining these? I love the flow in which you teach. Good stuff 👍🏽
Thank you! Great info. Question, do you have a budget priced wide angle lens that you recommend for the Canon VIXIA HF R800?
Thanks. You and I think a lot alike and u may saved me some money as I was considering the HF g60. But it might not be my best choice up from old hf m40s
FYI, the Vixia HF G50 (which came out after this video was produced) does include a LANC connection for around $1,000
Hi, Mr Stevan, I Am thankful to you and God. you're helping me a lot. thanks. be blessed in his service. AMEN, I am planning to start a live Hindi TV channel. but I don't have the budget for cameras I am praying for Blackmagic 4k. can you tell me if I go with this cheap camera will it work for me in Croma or several episode recording like 4 to 8 hours a day.
Do you have any recommendations on an external mic for the VIXIA HF G21?
Thank you!
Thanks video 감사합니다
very helpful!
What are your thoughts on the 800 entry level camera vs an older gopro? Aside from the mic input, is there another reason to steer away? And if i'm streaming 4 cams through a switch, wouldn't the audio be handled through something else than one of the cams? Is there another advantage of the canon that i'm overlooking vs the gopro?
This is AWESOME
Thanks for honesty
Very nice video thank you :)
sweet vid. 💗
Great video man very helpful!! would you still recommend the Canon VIXIA R800 or is there a similar newer model
In that price range there are a few similar models with slightly different features, but I don't think they've come out with a new generation yet, so in that price range that would still be the camera to get.
we have an canon xc10 and a sony cam corder (getting rid of the sony and getting more canon) its been 2 years since you made this vid and I greatly appreciate all your vids - do you still stand by these models or is there something newer and better - thanks again
Great information and video I just sub.... Can you do a review on the Sling Studio for church? Would it be possible to get a full scale church service production? One of my concern is the video out can I send a secondary feed to maybe a recorder or a screen?
awesome !!!
video
Thank you for this great video I was wondering what your thoughts were about using a Canon 80D for live streaming Facebook or UA-cam. We will only be using one camera (desk interview) and a new MacBook Pro was wondering if you recommend the AJI hdmi or sdi . Also what do you think about camlink stick vs. AJI
Using a DSLR or mirrorless camera is fine, but the problem you will have with the 80D is that it doesn't give a clean HDMI output. Meaning there will always be text from the camera on your video feed from the HDMI output. If you are using a DSLR camera, then use the HDMI version of the u-tap. I'd recommend the Sony line of mirrorless cameras for this, they give a clean HDMI output.
Great videos! Totally agree on ptz cams. Have you come across a "pan tilt" mount for a cam that can be controlled over ip?
I don't work with ptz enough to really have a good recommendation, sorry.
We were streaming using a Moto Z Force Droid smartphone and using a USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter and then a 3.5 mm to mic and headphone Y and were getting excellent quality video and audio. But those adapters were very touchy with the audio, so I decided to follow your suggestions and bought the R800 camera and the U-Tap HDMI box. The first thing I noticed was the video quality was much lower quality on my Facebook livestream on the R800 than on the Moto Z Force phone. Next, the audio coming from my Facebook livestream sounds like it is in a fish bowl...horrible. Maybe I just got a bad R800, but it was a real step down in both audio and video quality, over what we were doing. About to return the R800 and search for another camcorder. Thanks for the video, it really helped in getting things setup.
Are you using the 'Camera' tab or the 'Connect' tab on Facebook to start your stream? How are you connecting audio to the camera?
Ty so much
Check the JVC GY HM250 direct streaming camera capabilities with graphics and overlay in body!
Awesome Dear
Hello Steven i have a Canon XF200 after i remove the DISP. display there is still a STBY on the viewfinder or if i record REC can i remove that DISP - it still there when i'm live streaming - Thankyou
Your videos are great and very timely. We are looking to go from iPad live stream to a true camera setup for our church services. I have a question about audio input from the mixer to the Canon R800. What type of audio in does it have? 1/4" microphone? Thanks so much for the great help!
Glad you've found the videos helpful! The R800 has an 1/8" input connector. So, depending on what output your mixer has (XLR or 1/4") you will need a cable like this: amzn.to/2rrRvl1 or like this: amzn.to/2rlaHkq
Thanks for this video. I have started out with a sony pxw camera and we need a 2nd camera, which other sony camera can you recommend ?
Thanks
Any reason to not just get the same camera? Usually it makes life a lot easier to use a camera from the same line when it comes to getting them to match when cutting between them.
You may not be a Silver Tounged Devil but I might think are are an Angel for providing these excellent common sense solutions and advice!
I've had some of the same thoughts so I feel I can really trust the additional info I've gleaned from this video.
Most of the other videos I've seen are really pushing the DSLR/Mirrorless camera lineups but that falls into the "Spending a whole lot more" for little benefit category.
~ We've been using an XA10 that outputs 1080. It has been serving us well but we've apparently broken the HDMI port from years of pans/tilts etc.
~ We Live Stream FB then upload a lightly edited version to UA-cam.
~ What Recommendations Do you experienced Cameramen think for a replacement?
?? - How hard would a switch from HDMI to SDI inputs on our PC be?
God bless you and thanks so much for the videos. is there another tripod that you recoment for the beginners camera, the link that you have shows as unavailable. thanks
For an entry level tripod, go with this: amzn.to/2JUE8VU. But if you can afford it, this one is better: amzn.to/2JNYBM5
Thank You.
@ballastmedia what options are there for mounted cameras that need to be turned on and off remotely?
Thanks for the Tips.
With the Canon XA15, what would be the ideal setup if it is in a Crane Jib?
Do you know if we can use both the SDI and HDMI output at the same time?
I'm thinking of:
- Crane Jib with a motor Pan & Tilt Head
- Canon XA15
- Operator Monitor (connected to HDMI output)
- Operator Remote LANC control
- SDI output to send the video to the PC with the capture card. (I don't know if this is possible if the HDMI is also being used)
Or do you recommend I go with the Canon XF400/XF405?
For the other cameras, I plan to set the PTZ cameras you shared.
Let me know if you had any input.
Blessings!
thanks mate
First off, thank you so much for the clear and straightforward explanation on all of your videos. I appreciate your focus on worship technologies, but it is highly useful advice for any livestreaming audience.
Apologies for the following long post/question.
I have a question about the setup in this video to make sure I understand.
I am upgrading from a simple Logitech webcam cabled directly to a Win 10 laptop along with sound mic'ed into a mixer and then into the laptop using OBS software.
I plan on using a single camera setup with the entry level camera (Canon VIXIA R800), the AJA U-TAP HDMI capture device and a Win 10 laptop (USB3 capable) with OBS Studio software.
My sound will be captured by a wireless mic - Audiotecnica - and the receiver outputs to an entry level Behringer Xenyx mixer.
My question is regarding the audio. Do I mic the sound and then output it from the audio mixer to the camera audio input? I am asking because my camera will be set up about fifteen feet from the laptop and mixer, which means I will need at least a 15ft audio cable running from the mixer to the camera audio input. Is that correct?
btw, currently, I run the audio from the mixer to the laptop, and the video directly into the laptop and have not encountered a problem with synchronization. However, that must be a function of the level of equipment I am using.
Many thanks!
Just keep running it direct to the laptop. No reason to change, and in all honesty the R800 doesn't have good preamps so just about anything will sound better. If you do have a sync issue, just sync it up in OBS.
Great vid ! id like your advice .. Im looking for a camera to record my self Boxing (mainly just hitting the heavybag) i currently use the camera on my MacBook pro which is very poor quality and the vids take up a lot of storage..I record my self in my garage and the lighting is not great at all .. i don't need anything fancy.. only special feature id like is if it can record 4K maybe.. Can you suggest any 200$ or less ..
I hope and I really dreamt to have one of those Cameras...
Thank you for the great information. Do you think an internal PCI capture card would work as well as the AJA interface? From what I can see they are a little cheaper and possibly faster. But I don't know for sure.
Yes, an internal card can work fine - although some AJA cards don't work with OBS. (Do some googles on the card and OBS before you purchase) Also, the Blackmagic Decklink Mini Recorder card has lots of reliability issues, I've seen SO MANY of those fail.
great job!
i have a nikkon slr and a canon dslr
but now i feel like i have to start over
ROGERPRO PRODUCTION Can you get a clean HDMI signal out of them? DSLRs can work and give you a great image. I would use a different interface for audio though. You might have to work a little harder but they can work.
Thanks ☺️
This is an awesome video, thank you! I have a Canon Vixia, and when I switch to my hdmi video input, the feed is stretched vertically on my computer screen as well as others watching. I can’t find a way to change any setting that fixes this. Do you have any suggestions?
Where is it stretched? What software?
@@BallastMedia Thanks for the reply. I wasn't using a software, I was just feeding it into Zoom, so maybe that was the problem? I am going to ultimately use it with OBS & Restream, but haven't tested those yet.
Hi man! I think your videos are truly great! I have a hard time finding this camera now and was wondering if you know the Canon LEGRIA HF R806? Thanks once again!
The Legria line is the same as Vixia, but Legria is PAL version.
Hola Ballast! Tengo una canon xa10 como podria hacer stream con ella? Que tipo de adaptador necesito para conectarla al pc. Te aclaro que la Xa10 tiene señal 1080i o sea que no es progresivo. Muchas gracias y excelentes videos. Saludos desde Mexico
Very nice subjection boss
Great video! One question about the Vixia R800. When outputting via clean hdmi to a streaming device does the lcd on the camcorder turn off? Thanks!
No, the screen stays on all the time.
Thank you for the videos. It’s been a while since you originally posted this. Do you still recommend the cameras you talked about and linked or do you prefer something else now?
For sure look for the current model that is available. Camera selection really depends a lot on budget. I also think that a lot of "old" cameras still produce a great image, and getting the "latest and greatest" really doesn't get you much when it comes to a live production.
Great Video Ballast Media. What do you recommend for a beginner who wants an affordable switcher or switcher software?
Kind of depends how many cameras you are wanting to use. Software, I'd try OBS (ua-cam.com/video/8UtXvJq-l5M/v-deo.html) and if you need something more sophisticated try vmix. Otherwise the Atem switcher's are a pretty standard entry level switcher. (ua-cam.com/video/mudq-vEx-7Y/v-deo.html)
Steven thank you
Awesome
Thank you for your excellent suggestions! I was wondering if you have any suggestion on resolution and optical zoom if we're hoping to place the camera at the back of the sanctuary. We're switching from a smartphone (front of the church) to a camcorder (back of the church), but I'd hate to waste the money if this is not going to improve quality.
What is the distance from the camera position to your stage? How close of a shot are you hoping to get?
What do you recommend for the Sony set of cameras ?
