With the ATEM pro, and an analogue sound desk, you don't need an audio interface. We run a stereo mix out of the sound desk, and straight in to the Mic1 input on the ATEM. (with a custom cable, 2 RCA into 3.5mm stereo). Then the audio comes into the computer as part of the HDMI video from the ATEM. The ATEM also can process basic compression and level limiting on the audio.
with the ATEM mini pro you don't need to route it through the computer at all... we stream directly from the ATEM mini pro to our church website and UA-cam (both of which record automatically so we do not have that load on a PC either). Use the PC as an input to the ATEM mini pro! Doing this we also run a cable directly out of the mixing console into the back of the ATEM mini pro. This is even easier for a small church.
I’d really love to get more information on your whole setup! Looking into streaming my church’s service but struggling on what exactly I need to do so.
We also stream directly from the ATEM. We are having a little challenge with getting lyrics and scriptures in the lower third of the feed in a professional looking appearance.
Stream to multiple places is very impressive and I can see the benifits, but I've found that with my church streaming to one place is better because you aren't dividing the viewers into seperate places. One stream, one very lively stream chat
Yeah not a bad idea. I think I prefer the benefits of more people discovering the stream on different platforms and having redundancy in case a platform glitches or takes down your stream.
We run multiple streams and find different kinds of conversations happening on each of them. We have multiple hosts and a pastor on the streams. Also looking to expand into paid streams
@@Churchfront same for us. UA-cam is my preferred platform and I think it's better quality live streams, but Facebook is more convenient for some of our congregation.
We’ve done a PC based life stream in the UK using a Cannon camera connected to pc via cam link over hdmi, iPad and iPhone connected over NDI for multi camera views and using OBS to stream to Facebook live and UA-cam simultaneously. Audio comes from our X32 via the usb cable. Seems a good solution after almost a year of doing this. We have one venue with cable broadband and one venue where we use 4G LTE connection, but same setup at both.
Before watching this video, I had no earthly idea of live video streaming. Thank you for simplifying and breaking down this process. I am an old school pastor, however, I seriously believe it time to rethink how we do church. I hope by subscribing to your channel I can learn how to set up church like the young folks.
Man this helps! Thank you guys for sharing this, I just started being sound man in my church because our lead guy stepped out of the position and I had already had some time with him learning everything he knew, then I was thinking there has to be a better way to run it and live stream our services, this will help our ministry! keep making informational videos! So excited to see what the Lord will do with this!
Thank you for posting this. Very helpful! The only things I would recommend: 1) Consider the CABLING. If I follow your instructions and go-for-it, this will not work probably in the majority of situations. Mainly because the HDMI CABLES would not do it. Maximum length is 20 meters / 50 feet. Most churches are bigger than this, unless you move all your desk to the front of the church, and ends up being the main attraction of the service. Please talk a little bit about CABLES (SDI vs. HDMI vs. FIBER HDMI vs. SDI CONVERTERS); 2) Please check the costs, they are incorrect. Again, if I go-for-it once again, and I ask the church for USD 3K, this would not cut either. Again, don't get me wrong, just helping you being more helpful and effective. Thanks!
may i help you with the cabling choices? my church built the streaming service around in the middle of last year so i know how the cabling choices is a bit worrisome there are few choices; 1. full HDMI cable, cons: expensive, and prone to breaking if it bent too much 2. SDI cable (i use this one), cons: you need converter if your capture card or video mixer, or your camera, doesn't have SDI in/out (still cheaper than hdmi, and more resistant in bending) 3. HDMI extender using UTP cable, cons: you got more equipments to take care of i did not included Fiber and Wireless bcs it's gonna really expensive LOL
If cables or distance is an issue, then consider wireless HDMI such as the Hollyland sets, bang for buck and ease of use they're some of the best on the market at this time.
@@thirdenvoqation7735 That’s what we did. Bought 3 Mars 400s Pro. Some attention is needed for clearing frequencies, but other than that, the freedom they provide gives the production a huge added value.
This video just gave me a foundation to start from, given a sudden influx of requests I've gotten since I started redoing my Mosque's sound system, now getting questions about lighting and livestreaming. Thanks a bunch, and God bless!
Thanks for posting. We don't have the staff for full production but the volunteers we have are dedicated. We only have two cameras that are stationary. I only send them a two track audio mix from the console. There's zero editing. I'll share this with the video crew. Thanks! 😎
We use almost the exact setup in our Church. For those on the fence concerning a multi vs single camera setup, don't hesitate to go multi. We use a second camera for a nice wide shot and it saves us a lot from when the first camera is at a bad angle, not ready or the talent is doing something out of expectation. And its easy!
I think it’s okay, but if your signal is coming out from a mixer you need to change in atem mini sofware the microphone input to line in input. Sorry about my English, i hope you understanded.
My wife and I want to thank so much for all the information you have provided, we are a small start up church on a budget and your video has been most helpful. I will also be checking in on your copyright video too. FaceBook mutes any music used from videos.
I was practically brand new at my church when Covid hit, they bought a PTZ camera, I mentioned I was good with that stuff, so naturally they had me set it up 😂. 4 years later as the worship pastor, I’m just now learning that this camera was $3,000 when they bought it 😶. Suffice to say, I’m very happy to now be included in these decisions 😅.
One change worth considering. We take our audio feed from the sound desk directly into the Atem Mini Pro mini-jack input, so there's then a single combined audio and video output coming from the Atem to the PC. That eliminates any possible audio and video sync issues occurring in the PC hardware or software as they're already synced in the Atem. We've found this to be a better solution then sending a separate audio and video feed to the PC, and syncing there.
Just bought 2 zve-10s for our church, and the sigma 18-50 f2.8 and the sigma 56 f1.4. We have the atem switcher, and will be streaming to YT. Thanks for the walkthrough, it’s helpful to send to a team so they can understand the overall system
I am seeing many asking about an update and have to say I would agree. This is not bad information overall and equipment can be changed. For one a stand alone PC in place of todays laptops utilizing Free programs such as OBS could open many other options. 1- OBS is a full studio, titling, multi camera views, screen captures, multi channel audio, streaming or just recording, effects, PREVIEW AND LIVE views at the same time, etc 2- With multiple USB Ports (not a hub) you open up the ability of different feeds from cameras, projectors, video playbacks, etc. With all that said, the Atem switching unit can help with other options outside the software. IF using IP cameras, Interfacing other then Atem units are used, But make sure you have plenty of Bandwidth and PC power to monitor video feeds and livestream. I would love to see a review with Windows and OBS software utilizing the camera hardware he is recommending.
Very informative video, thanks. Might I add a suggestion? We're s small congregation with a very limited budget and we went with a MEVO Plus camera. It lets you choose between multiple areas of the picture so it simulates different angles. Together with a monthly subscription it also also allows adding slides and lower thirds and you can stream to multiple sites. It was about 400 EUR and works like a charm. Just a suggestion if you have a tight budget.
We plug our analog audio mixer output into one of the 2 mic inputs on our ATEM Pro. That saves the cost and complexity of a separate audio capture box. Also, the ATEM Pro can delay the audio signal so that it keeps synchrony with the HDMI video.
I love the updates on this video. I watched the last year video and it helped me organize the Media team in my church during lockdown. It also opened me to a lot of Livestreaming tools. Nice work Jake
We use the Roland V-1HD switch. We first went with the BM ATEM Mini, but there was way too much latency. We also have everything going INTO the V-1HD and NOT into Propresenter 6. We send lower 3rd graphics (with black text boxes) from Propresenter on a blue screen to the Roland which takes out the blue and uses live camera under the graphics. The combined signal splits from the Roland goes out to the main screens and to Boxcast for streaming.
For multistreaming our church congregation we are using high tech cameras, the gears you suggested and a combination of OBS and StreamingVideoProvider. Your video triggered some new ideas which we'll incorporate soon. Thank you very much for sharing valuable information.
Thanks for keeping up. We always get new insights whenever you guys post a video. But I think you are kinda underestimating the power of proclaim as a whole. It does all these things Propresenter does and more. My church uses it and we have never looked back.
Thanks Jake. I noticed on the setup that the price for the Atem Mini Pro wasn't listed which would increase the overall price. But still great recommendations.
This setup is awesome. That Sony camera has the clearest pictures of all the ones we use. The ATEM puts out a great picture. Wish there was a decent free tablet option for controlling it, but there is not, that I can find. Thanks for the great summary.
Not sure you still look for an answer. Considering that in this setup the external Atem unit does the video mixing, not very powerful. It will depend on your streaming resolution, but a mid-range i5 with 16gig of RAM will do that. I am live-streaming from home. I am new to the space and I am trying to build this system for the house. What camera, and microphone do you recommend? Thank you for this video. it is awesome information.
Hey, great video. Glad to see updates with current tech. Our church uses the Atem mini pro. Has anyone recently noticed it stop streaming while caching? Saw a post it might have to do with the firmware.
Love the content! My church needs to update some things for our livestream. Do you do calls or anything like that to help out with specific churches and the gear they currently have? Thanks!
I would like to see an updated version of this using the new black magic studio cameras. Also can this be converted to a wireless setup? Less wires the better. Also what sound board do you recommend, I’m looking for something small and more mobile
PTZ cameras as they are known (pan, tilt, zoom) can be kinda expensive, and controlling them can be a whole thing, usually you can go a long way with a couple of thoughtfully placed locked off (not moving) cameras, and then add extra cameras with operators as available. The bigger ATEM's can do PTZ control over SDI, and there is a company called middle things that have a solution for using DJI Gimbles as PTZ heads, which may be an affordable option if you already have cameras available
You could also plug the aux bus into the atem as a last resort. However, you need a way to monitor the audio going out to stream like a monitor with audio out.
Awesome video! QUESTION: Once we send the stream to social media and we’re live, how can we get that final social media feed on a jumbotron/in house monitor for audience in the back?
Are you trying to get me killed? Biggest issue I see for us switching over to pp7 as a streaming platform as well as presentation platform is job overload. Our pp7 person is already doing lighting, in room mp3 and pp7 presentations. Our broadcast producer is on a separate pc doing 4 cam with coms and all broadcast graphics, lower thirds, and pp7 captures. Combining would put it all on 1 person.
haha, ideally you will still have two people operating this setup. have someone dedicated to cutting live action cameras on the ATEM mini and give them their own multiview screen. The person in propresenter will do next to no video switching.
I sadly need a good PTZ camera for lowlight . These cameras are great but in our situation we need to have control over them remotely. Anyone have recommendations for an awesome PTZ camera?
Thank you for the Video , they are very informative and provide overall feel of what's required during live streaming, does streamyard considered multi-streaming platform ? Thanks
Thank you so much, your videos always help us to build a better worship experience in my church. Just a question what are you using to connect your cameras to the video switcher, do you use a HDMI converter to ski, cat6 cable or just a long HDMI?

The only thing about streaming directly to UA-cam is that you have to have 1000 subs. As a small church, that's not always easy to accomplish.

but they still look like poo
Why do you not plug the audio into the ATEM mic 1 or 2? Or why do you not plug the audio from the mixer into one of your cameras?
Same question. It seems like they made a conscious decision to not benefit from some of the key features on the ATEM, and I suspect because there is a (possible financial) bias toward ProPresenter/Resi
I asked because I can't get mine to sync even with the clap test. Wondered if anyone one else had that problem and gave up.
This is very helpful. Could I suggest that you add the Chapers to your video? Would be helpful for quick reference for when you talk about what.
Great video. Very useful!
Loved your video sponsor section.
Thank you and God bless you
How can I get you guys to set up our church sound system and streaming
Are there any audio/video sync issues between the mixing board out and the ATEM output? We don't want the pastor to look like his voice is dubbed from a different language.

Could you do a updated video on the same subject but how to set up like wire it all up thanks
Do you have people behind/moving all of those cameras? Do you have a good solution for remote controlled (either bases or...?)?

Great content man. Blessings...
What would you suggest for a small gathering of a 100 persons. Gadgets, setup and pricing.
Thanks

haha, ideally you will still have two people operating this setup. have someone dedicated to cutting live action cameras on the ATEM mini and give them their own multiview screen. The person in propresenter will do next to no video switching.
What is the best way to get the signal from the camera back to the switcher in the tech booth? Are you using wireless transmitters and receivers?
Thank you Jake.
I would like to stream the big game every Sunday can you implement these tips and setups for live streaming anything ?
I sadly need a good PTZ camera for lowlight . These cameras are great but in our situation we need to have control over them remotely. Anyone have recommendations for an awesome PTZ camera?
Great information! Thank you!
Thank you for the Video , they are very informative and provide overall feel of what's required during live streaming, does streamyard considered multi-streaming platform ? Thanks
Praying to get a digital mixer to improve the live services.
Very good presentation.
God bless you bro!!!
Haha! Love the sponsor. So smoothly done.
Thank you so much, your videos always help us to build a better worship experience in my church. Just a question what are you using to connect your cameras to the video switcher, do you use a HDMI converter to ski, cat6 cable or just a long HDMI?
20m HDMI is the max you can have. Atem has HDMI input ports and 3.5mm sound.
