  • Adding ethanol, upgrading the turbo, these are all things needed to go have the power to go faster. On direct injection cars, the fuel system is often a limiting factor with relatively few upgrade options. Here we show you what you need to do to upgrade your 2015-2021 WRX for more fuel.

Amazing work, Alex! This FA20 bundle (HPFP+DI Injectors) is one of our best sellers and we love to see how customers are enjoying them. We often get questions about a "stage 2" injector, given that this available injector is +11%. We are strictly limited by the stock ECU driver and electromagnetic capabilities of the injector. Unfortunately there is no ability to increase drive current the way we do on other platforms in the stock VA FA20 ECU. We did indeed prototype a stage 2 injector solely to run with Motec and set a DI only 620whp (dynojet) record, but then the pandemic hit us and Motec was out of stock for several years.
However we continue to innovate. We have a new design revision that was released this week with the same static flow and Pmax capabilities, but now with faster closing time (reduced injector latency). These are already shipping this week. Would be interesting to see if that reduced latency results in any power? (We did it to optimize idle characteristics, but hey, maybe....)

I made 435 on E50 with a boostlab turbo with just an AEM 340 pump. The whole graph was completely linear and had zero fall off. It just kept going for the moon. We still left 10% fueling on the table just incase the ecu ever had to make changes. How ever this car was tuned in the video, just doesn’t seem right. This car def has more fueling headroom than my car and hit what? 400 dyno jet? Something is off

Thought that was strange as well, I'm building mine with thay socal v4 turbo and it's rated for 500+hp surprised it didn't push past 450

What were your AFRs under WOT?

@stratifiedauto my build isn't done yet so I can't answer but many people push even 400whp on the stock turbo so I'm surprised you has such little power from the socal v4

The SoCal puts in a larger compressor and clips the turbine. The exhaust side of that turbo remains a restriction in the top end and this is why you see them fall off past 6100-6200 or so. That being said, there could have been some further restrictions here. Midrange torque was nice and flat but we were riding the 40% duty cycle for the injectors up top on E50 and much past that they misfire. I would say an E30-E40 mix buys you a bit more headroom.

@stratifiedauto how's that turbo sound, is it louder than stock? I haven't seen anyone else run the socal v4 or even talk about it but I'm putting that in mine

I have a 2020 WRX. How much more power dp you think it would make with bolt ons on Shell 93 (BC, Canada gas)?

On our Mustang these range between 275 and 290whp depending on the car itself. Dynojet equivalent numbers are 315-330whp
