  • What does it take to make 600+whp in a Focus RS?
    Weeeelll glad you asked! Ryan brought us his built RS to dial it in to 11. He has a built motor, o-ringed block, PTE 6262 turbo, our Stratified Aux Fuel AND DI fuel system upgrades. When he handed me the keys he said he wanted 600. And I said ... 600 on a Dynojet or MY Mustang dyno.
    You know what he answered ...
    Hope you guys enjoy this one and if YOU have any questions about building an EcoBoost - from mild to double wild - give us a shout.

    I finally bought my first car and it happened to be an RS. A buddy of mine, works at the same dealership as me, decided to trade his RS in after owning it for most of its life. He got it with 3000 something miles. I’ve spent the last 3-4 years thinking about an RS and the modifications I’d want, looking into tunes, checking lap times, countless hot laps in racing sims. He did everything I would have done to it and made sure to point out both 93 and E30 Stratified tunes. I’ve driven a couple RS’s and all handled well, but this car with this tune my friend got feels so confident and grippy all while giving me more than enough boogie to it. I’ve loved every moment with the car so far, absolutely zero regrets, and excited to see this car’s journey continue.

      @@stratifiedauto I appreciate it! The car puts a smile on my face even when it’s parked. But nothing beats driving some of the winding roads in my area.

    I'm surprised you ran out of fueling with the XDi HPFP and injectors...The combo can net over 500whp on the right turbo from what I've seen. In fact, I have the XDi HPFP and injectors on the BNR3071 turbo and I'm currently doing revisions to max it out. I know I may not HIT 500, or much over it on the 3071, but the fueling should be more than enough.

      Keep in mind that this is on a Mustang that reads low and on a high ethanol mix. They both take away fueling headroom.

    This is awesome, what do you think is the most you can get out of these engines on 93 octane / 98 ron? I'm from the Netherlands and getting e85 at the pump is not an option here, methanol could be and option but it's a pain to get

    • @stratifiedauto
      @stratifiedauto  7 місяців тому

      This will depend on your turbo setup and fueling. With fueling upgrades and a big turbo and cams we have been able to get close to 500whp.

    I noticed that the RS darted around at the beginning of the video. My RS is stock and does this too, what needs to be done to correct this?

      A. Sport Steering Mode
      B. Tires at proper pressure
      C. Proper Tires
      1. TURN OFF PDC
      2. RDU Tune
      3. DSC Sport Controller
      For a mostly stock car (mild tune and mods), that's got good tires at proper pressure (not 46PSI with just a driver) turning off PDC (Pull Drift Compensation) will make a significant and meaningful impact. For a car like this, equally to more so, a custom calibration for a DSC Sport Controller can help a lot by keeping the front end down/weighted. With both, launching is MUCH improved, as well.

      The car is fwd based and a lot of power goes to those wheels. The more more power the more torque steer especially with an lsd up front like this car had.

      @@ThomMurphy How does one turn off pdc?

    • @ThomMurphy
      @ThomMurphy 5 місяців тому +1

      @FreshlyBaked13 A bit of Internet searching should provide details. It's done electronically in the PCSM module, IIRC. Can be done yourself or at a good dealership or capable service center. It's fairly simple but requires specialized software and a proper OBDII tool.
      IMO, it should never have been enabled in the RS. Perhaps only those doing long (and casual) highway drives would ever see any benefit of it being on. Meanwhile, most anyone driving an RS in a sporty manner, and particularly when making maneuvers like overtaking on a 2 lane highway, will experience a disconcerting feeling while it's enabled.

    I'm curious as to how the transmission is going to hold up. I sure hope it isn't stock. I know the ST's start becoming unreliable around 400hp mark

    • @stratifiedauto
      @stratifiedauto  3 місяці тому

      It has a clutch and LSD. The transmissions on these cars are quite strong and because they are not full time 4wd don’t see massive shocks before some wheelspin happens.

    Enlighten me if I'm stupid, but how are they running it FWD on the Dyno if the RS is an AWD car?

    • @stratifiedauto
      @stratifiedauto  7 місяців тому +2

      The rear end is engaged with clutch packs and it’s very selective when they engage. To promote oversteer the rear spins faster than front. So you have to set it to fwd to dyno it properly.

    • @factory2170
      @factory2170 3 місяці тому +1

      There's a "dyno mode" which spins just the front wheels.

    2.0 blocks with standard decks grenade at 40 psi. These 2.3's are open deck, im astonished its holding together at 37 psi.

    • @DANOBILL

      Most 500 hp+ builds I’ve seen has been built using the 2.0 block. Bore size is identical between the 2.0 and 2.3. Using the 2.3 rotating assembly in the 2.0 block gives it a displacement of 2.3L. Just seems like a no brainer to go with the semi closed deck at these power levels so I’d assume that’s what they’re doing.

    • @WhiteblurrST
      @WhiteblurrST 3 місяці тому +1

      @DANOBILL definitely agree, that's what im doing. Waiting on my 2.3 manifold. I made 542whp and 531wtq on 29si on the 7163efr
