I wouldn't say EVERYBODY, but yeah, it is very widely known. The older and more conservative groups of the demographics most likely haven't seen it or even heard of it.
Just in case, check out the roots of that team behind the movie. The bully parade, that is where that sort of humor nurtured its way to German mainstream back in those days. That probably also gives a lot of context for the movie as well. It might throw up more questions at the same though :D Cheers, have fun
just like "Galaxy Quest", it makes loving fun of several original movies that are quite famous, although all those "Karl May" movies probably are mostly/only well known in germany. Thus the recommendation to watch "Winnetou" (3 parts) first to see the originals, and how "american indians" are mostly seen in germany (eg because of the author Karl May).
Highly recommend giving it a full watch but I have to say, there is probably something lost for non German speaker, as a lot (and I mean A LOT) of the comedic aspect is the usage of different dialects and speaking patterns. Yes, there are already the funny voices, but that could easily get doubled by understanding how they say them.
@@MyRegardsToTheDodo Explanation for all who don't know: There was a well known show on TV for children where they had to choose the right answer to a question out of three. Dear Lord! Such a funny movie. I love Michael "Bully" Herbig and Christian Tramitz; they used to have a very popular sketch show on TV, too. Some movies never get old. Somewhere there's a short "making-of" movie, showing the bloopers, which is a classic in itself. 😂
I believe, at a certain point, this was the most commercially successful movie ever in Germany. It was absolutely huge and everyone knows it over here. It still holds up to standards, so it’s certainly still being watched and appreciated.
You should watch: "Schuh des Manitou", too. Bully Herbig is a well known comidian in Germany. It all started with the "Bully Parade" on TV and it got huge... About "Traumschiff surprise": William Shatner saw it and he loved it. So, there must be an english soundtrack out there.
His career began on the radio, "Langemann und die Morningcrew" on Radio Gong 2000, where he also covered a few songs ( Help by the Beatles became Gelb), the Bayerncops were also invented on this show. They then had a program on a Munich TV station (TV-weiß-blau). Only then did his rise throughout Germany begin.
I found it very surprising that Bully also masters the serious genre perfectly. His film about escaping the GDR with a self-made balloon is absolutely exciting and worth seeing.
what will always stick with me is that both this one and 'schuh des manitou' have very explicitly sexualized jokes. But those are sex-jokes ... for children. Like I'm sorry, this might be the best part of these movies: they have SO many dirty jokes aimed directly at your inner 10yo.
🎶 High, high, high to tigh, Space taxi to the sky. Feuersalamander, Mach Beine auseinander, Mach Beine wieder zu, Und raus bist du!" High, high, high to tigh, Space taxi to the sky. 🎶 😂❤ This song is catchy 😂
An all time classic ngl. There are not enough movies nowadays that just have humor and gags like this or also Otto Walkes. Just some harmless fun without any complex thought behind it. I don't mean written bad, to be clear. "Der Schuh des Manitu" is also awesome. It's from the same producer and has a nearly similar humor.
Not only did I watch the movie, I even have a DVD of it with 10 year old me reading the Computer Log. I got that when I visited the film studio where this was filmed back then.
I love this movie. I was living in England when it came out and got the DVD as soon as possible. Sat down to watch it when my housemates came in and asked if they could watch too. Sure, it's in German though, but you should get what's going on. They loved it so much they bought the DVD even though they didn't speak a word of German. For some reason my fav line is: "Das ist die Jutta, meine Leselampe. Die hat mir mal das Leben gerettet." (This is Jutta my reading lamp. She saved my life once. - it sounds funnier in German). Also "Traumschiff" is the title of the German version of the old TV show "Love Boat".
I LOVE this movie so much, as well as "Der Schuh des Manitu", I've watched both of these countless times over the years and can easily speak along throughout the entire movies. I'm not sure how well the whole comedy in the movies would work in English, for as others mentioned lots of it is based on German dialects and also many jokes are working with double meanings of German... But then again, The Big Bang Theory worked in German as well, so maybe it also will the other way round. :) (An example: One of my favourite lingual gags in "(T)Raumschiff Surprise" is when Jens Maul receives report that his army found a box of chocolates, Maul says "Sehr gut! (Very well) Wegtreten!", and his subordinate kicks the chocolate away. The term "Wegtreten!" as emphasized by Mauls translates into the military term "Dismissed!" but can also mean "Kick that away!".) Anyway, both movies are very worth watching! ♥ I'd actually recommend watching "Der Schuh des Manitu" first, followed by "(T)Raumschiff Surprise", for the latter references the first in quite some scenes which are really sweet... "callbacks", if you will. Side note: Some of the jokes can be seen as rather outdated for the 2020's (e. g. exaggeratedly cliché "gay" characters) and Bully's works therefore have received quite some retrospective critique over that during especially the most recent years for the works in question. He's still producing a part 2 for "Der Schuh des Manitu" though, which is called "Das Kanu des Manitu" (Manitu's Canoe) and is due release in 2025 for the anniversary of part 1. I personally like to enjoy movies based on the "historical context", meaning to have the differences of morals now and then in mind while rewatching. But I'm also really curious how Bully's new movie will get fit in the social morals of 25 years later, especially since while it does reference fictional characters first and foremost with clearly no intention of a parody about real (groups of) people, far most characters are Native Americans (as you'd expect from movies based on westerns). Bully, as a white Bavarian, had been playing and surely will again play the two main N. A. protagonists and, sort of understandebly, received a lot of backlash for this. On the other hand though, if I remember correctly (don't judge if I'm wrong, it's been over 20 years!) he'd cast actual N. A.'s for all the other respective roles. Long story short, if you end up deciding to watch these (maybe as a reaction even), maybe keep this cultural background info in mind while doing so. ;) It's not all of it, btw, but while both movies being two of my all time favourites still to these days (some might call it nostalgia), I still wanted to mention at least the two most prominent cultural/social aspects. (Please note I'm not saying nor willing to pin down wether or not I'd agree with said critiques. Just so much: To me personally, I understand both "sides", more or less, and am a big fan of making compromises. From my own experiences in MY bubble and life, which of course can't speak for whole huge groups of people, I've never had anyone from either group seen offended, instead everyone enjoyed the movies and characters equally. As with many things, always depends who you're asking.)
As far as I know there is no official version with English subtitles. But I have an SRT-File with Fan made subtitles. I can provide you with it if you want to watch the movie.
Michael 'Bully' Herbig - the writer and director of this and several other parody movies AND shows - has a cult following all of his own. As such his movies almost immediately had and still have cult status for many. The other well known movie is "Schuh des Manitu" (literally "The Shoe of Manitoo" but dubbed/translated to "Manitou's Shoe"), which is a parody of the Winnetou movies (by Karl May) as well as western and cowboy movies in general.
I have been watching the TV-show with comedy-skits written and performed by these guys for many many years. Their first movie "Der Schuh des Manitu" (Vinnetou-parody) became the most successful German movie ever made. This one a sweet homosexual take on Star Trek, but includes also e.g. the flying-taxi from the 5thEelement. Aaand - it ranked as the second best German movie
Well, it's very German, silly humor and slapstick. But it's also funny, few good jokes and the CGI is pretty good. It's quite a housenumber for a German production. Definitely worth watching for entertainment. For me personally, Rick Kavanian is the real main star. He can do everything. He can do all the dialects, all the characters, all the facial expressions, he's a real talent. Of course, "The Shoe of Manitou" by the same group is also worth seeing. Sky Dumont is the best in this as a tough gangster boss with an amazingly social streak. Especially with his song "Perfect Perforator" (in English). Of course, there are gags in both films that only native Germans can understand (references to advertisements, proverbs, celebrities or fashion). For example, the gang of tough cowboys: "Hey boss, bring us something to play with, something to have fun with, something exciting..." then after the Kinder Surprise Egg advert "Chocolate" should come but the boss interrupts "... you'd better eat an apple."
Watched the movie in the theatre and got the DVD as soon as it came out. Never regretted it. ^^ It was the second movie from Michael Herbig after "Der Schuh des Manitou", and it was created after Herbig had aired a show called "Bullyparade" in which one of the recurring sketches was "Unser(T)Raumschiff", which was a blatant parody (solely) based on Star Trek with a not-entirely-straight crew. You can still finds those clips on youtube, just searched for them to make sure. There was a total of about 40 clips IIRC.

This is one of most beloved movies in Germany . And those three comedians are one of the most recognizable in the whole German speaking areas. This one was made by Michael Bully Herbig. You should see his also very good one called Sissy (both real life Adaptation and the other) . It’s really funny like no other.
There are also bloopers for the movie. I heard, that "Bully" (the Spock actor) gained at least 20 pounds because of one take where he had to eat chocolates over and over again because he botched his lines because of laughter^^
What you need to understand is… that all these guys talk strictly Munich/Bavarian accent… that is funny in space… but even more in the Wild West… (see Der Schuh des Manitu)
yes, they are from the southern states, that's why they decided that bavarian accent in a western is a great idea. do you have a last wish? I have a last wish, I want to hear the song from the ad of the superperforator. ;-)
This movie is based on a TV Show called 'Bullyparade'… created by Michael 'Bully' Herbig from Munich… this movie and even more 'Der Schuh des Manitu' were the highest grossing german comedy movies of all recorded history…
Something about it no one said before in the comments or maybe I missed it the characters started as shorts in "Bulliparade" with a bunch of other crazy stuff like a Sissi comedy...
@@jelenasseid Yeah… the Bullyparade (Bully is the little guy playing gay Mr. Spock…) … the Bullyparade was a successful comedy show on German TV kind of like Monty Pythons FC… and yet very different… lots of language parody… and of course Sissi and her flame Franz… and lots of other recurring characters… like the Yeti… and of course the Emperor Franz Beckenbauer…
in case u wonder how big it was: The crew had a signature dish, die Käsesahne (creamed cheese). When the movie started, they collaborated with german mcdonalds, which sold "the real, original Käsesahne" while the movie was running in the cinema.

Bully Herbig was a big Comedian in the 90s, and then made a few movies based on his parody sketches. There´s "The shoe of manitu" (a parody of old westerns), Dreamship Surprise (a Star Trek, Star Wars parody), and some other smaller ones, mainly basing on European films. The two I named here are the ones who were really successful in Germany and German speaking countries
@@Cindy_Dakin_ I can´t agree that he still is to be honest. Laughing out loud may not have been my kind of show, but in general I feel like that since "Bully and Rick" nothing really good came from him. The Sissi Movie was okay, and even the movie he released a few years ago was okay at best...
The quality of Bully's movie is galaxies above Otto's Schneewittchen. Otto's humor is the most simple form of slapstick. Seine Witze sind dermaßen platt, da geht kaum was drunter durch. Und er hat auch schon sehr lange keine neuen Ideen, er macht noch den gleichen Kram, den er vor 50 Jahren schon gemacht hat.
I mean... the one scene you kinda have to react to from this movie that sums it up perfectly ist the "Space Taxi to the sky" song. And yes, unfortunately, everyone knows the movie. It was made by one of germany's most famous comedy movie producers, Bully (the guy playing the Spock imitation). He's kinda like the german monty python... except way more simple humor. The guy even has his own museum about him and his works. And this movie also featured some other german A list movie stars (which translates to about Hollywood C-E list actors). Another thing to react to would maybe be the "Superperforator" scene from one of his other movies.
Oh yes, Space Taxi to the sky is an English fun song, but there are more scenes in that space taxi in German. Oh and the "Super Perforator" (from a Western, not from TRaumschiff Surprise) is a good parody song and is in English! It is situated in simple western movies, some usual clichés are summed up there in a fun way - and of course exaggerated. It starts in German like "do you have a last whish?" and he asks for the super perforator ad that he likes so much... Then it comes... live performed for him only as the only audience... It is so crazy... The killer plays a fun ad with lots of dancing and singing and then resumes his "work" afterwards... That's not so funny of course... But the ad itself... Great! Oh and the shapes of some space ships in "TRaumschiff Surprise" when you look down at it from above ... Oh no... But sure, it needed to be in this shape, it has pure technical reasons, sure ;-))
Oh and one information piece, the movie's name ends with "Periode 1". Periode sounds a bit like episode, that's what it is supposed to mean, but sneakingly "Periode" has to do with the monthly woman's hormon cycle... a cycle is one period. Just another reference for the adult audience, that it's a bit a strange movie with a certain type of fun... No, it doesn't go deep, it stays at the level of references after references... Sometimes some sort of an innocent reference, that can be interpreted like that, sometimes a bit of a more direct reference.
YES. I am not German but I moved to Germany to marry my German husband and he showed me this movie after I learned enough to understand. Love this movie and Bully Herbig. Also, the taxi driver was the German actor in SLC Punk. Love him honestly.
There are four well known German parody movies from the 2000s. "Traumschiff Surprise" is one of them. "Der Schuh des Manitu" is a western parody of the Karl May movies, which are really popular in Germany. "Der Schuh des Manitu" is from the same team as "Traumschiff Surprise". Also very popular: "Der Wixxer" and "Neues vom Wixxer", parodies of the German Edgar Wallace films from 1959 to 1972.
If you haven't seen them yet, you should take a look at "Der Wixxer" and "Neues vom Wixxer". They are Edgar Wallace parodies. There's even a song for the first film. Right Said Fred feat. Doris Dubinsky - The Wizard.
As with most of such movies, you can enjoy them without knowing the originals, but you will miss half of the humor. Karly May and Edgar Wallace both are series of many movies that are most famous probably only in germany.
Oh definitely! I'd rate "Der Wixxer" as even funnier than Traumschiff Surprise, since the humor in Surprise is honestly quite dated (the main characters being absurdly camp gays that are so gay all the time that they are useless at their jobs can only carry you through so much of the movie - Der Schuh des Manitu was better balanced when it came to Winnetouch). Der Wixxer however is absolutely timeless and even as someone who has only very faint knowledge of the Edgar Wallace movies found them absolutely hilarious. Such a shame Pastewka and Kalkofe has such a bad falling out that they never made the third one.
I have not seen that one in years, but I loved it back then. I have to rewatch. Completely forgot about the scene in the dungeon with the little big and the shadow. 😂
Seriously best movie if you speak german. I once worked in a company and literally EVERYBODY working there LOVED the movie and we kept quoting the movie all the time. So much fun!!!
The characters were originally from a TV sketch show (Bullyparade, which has nothing to do with the English term bully) and this movie was quite big in the cinemas back in 2004 (has it really been that long?). The director, Michael "Bully" Herbig (who also played Spucki in the movie, a parody on Spock and the name also means "to spit") is quite famous in Germany mostly for his comedies, but he also directed more serious movies, like two pretty good real live addaptations of Vicky the Viking (Wickie und die Starken Männer). He went a bit off the rails when he sued Rockstar Games after they released the "Bully" video game but lost that case pretty fast.
They also had a TV sketch show and the movies Bully, Rick and Christian made are based on those. If you want to look the show up it is called 'Bullyparade'. They did some great stuff.
Rember watching this in school; i died laughing at the scean where the ship's crewmates where testing the weight of the three idiots by changing gravity and one of the gravity levels was ''to fat to fly'', and scean where the bad guy's ship got hit by a photo of a close up of one of the three idiots and crashed.
I saw this Movie. It smashes together all the Ideas from a Comedyshow called Die Bully Parade in one large Thing. It was very popular in its time but some jokes did not age very well. Yet we all hold it somewhat dear in our memories, because it was in our youth and young adulthood.
I literally randomly rewatched this movie yesterday because i got the BluRay during Black Friday sales. Unfortunately (at least on my BluRay) there were no English subtitles.
Michael Bully Herbig‘s Films are huge and everybody loves them forever. There’s one scene where those 3 camp Traumschiff surprise guys desperately need a „Käsesahne“. They then proceed to have a good „Kaffeetrinken“ with cheesecake. Not at 1500 hrs though, bc they‘re in space.
this is a movie of my childhood. My sisters and I, we always watched this one and other movies on the laptop of my dad when we were on long driving trips.
Just one of the details: the ferry in US taxi cab form is of course a reference to ""The Fifth Element". The driver that was played by Bruce Willis is here Til Schweiger, who became famous for his role in the movie "Manta, Manta", the sports coupe Opel Manta having achieved cult status for those that want to boost their ego with a fancy car, but cannot afford a BMW or Porsche. Famous was the fox tail at the antenna. Often resulting in extreme conversions to demonstrate your individuality. I am allowed to be a little ironic, I drive what is quasi an Opel Manta C, an Opel Calibra, also a halfway sportive coupe, with at its time extremely good aerodynamics.
Yeah, everyone remembers this movie and it was HUGE. Definitely watch "Der Schuh des Manitu", which was relased in 2001, same actors. And I know there is an actual dubbed English version of that, which is pretty decent, though some of the wordplay just doesn't translate, and only German speakers get some of the innuendo and references to other movies and shows. That is part of why this movie was such a huge success: Because Der Schuh des Manitu was so incredibly successfull and it's the same comedy trio, whone of which is also the director of both movies, so everyone wanted to see what came next. And the 3 main characters (one of which, as you might have noticed, also plays several other roles) were already known from a comedy show on TV, named "Bullyparade"(Bully is the director's nickname), same as the caracters in Der Schuh des Manitu and an animated movie that came a few years later. Oh, and the taxi driver is played by Til Schweiger, who was a very successful actor at the time. (He played in Inglorious Basterds, too.) There are some other well known personalities in that movie, for example the herald is played by Christoph Maria Herbst, who is also a well known comedic actor. The movie also contains a parody of western movies, where they meet some of the characters from Der Schuh des Manitu, it's just not in the trailer. Der Schuh des Manitu parodies the Karl May movies, who was an author who wrote some very famous books about Winnetou the Apache chief and his white blood brother Old Shatterhand, which still influences the picture many Germans have of Native Americans today, though he was a liar and a fraud who'd never been to the US himself, and most of of the steretypes he invented are far from reality (though he was a good writer, I read the books as a kid). This led to some very popular movie adaptations in the 1960s, which Der Schuh des Manitu parodies. Intensely. With Native Americans speaking in a Bavarian Dialect. A folding chair. And a donkey called Apollo 13. Please watch it. But not with a full bladder. There are so many quotes from these movies that have found their way into everyday language, like "Ich bin mit der Gesamtsituation unzufrieden!" ("I'm dissatisfied with the situation in general!") The subtitles in this trailer are not great, though... some because of the innuendo and wordplay, but some are just incorrectly translated.
"Star Star Space" is another german Star Wars/Star Trek parody in form of a UA-cam series. You absolutely have to check it out. It has really good english subtitles.
Yup, it's definitely still remembered The same guys made "Der Schuh des Manitu", which is a parody on the western genre in general and in particular of the "Winnetou" movies that were based on the books by the german author Karl May Der Schuh des Manitu is actually getting a Sequel next year by them called "Das Kanu des Manitu". I really hope they keep the humor from the old movies, especially since the Winnetou movies from the 1960s are currently being frowned upon by some who call them a case of cultural appropriation

The movie based on the 'Bully Parade', a German comedy show. The three main actors were the part of the show. In every episode they made fun of Star Trek, portraying the crew poofy, lazy and in love for cheese cream cake and Prosecco. '(T)Raumschiff Surpirise - Peridoe 1', the title of the movie, is a mix of different tv series and word games. ' Das Traumschiff' is a German tv series since 1981 and follows the same roots like 'Love Boat'. 'Periode 1' is a joke about 'Star Wars -Episode 1', while 'Periode' is the German word for (She is on her) period!
This comedy came from a long living tv comedy show. They auditioned at a show in front of William Shatner.😂 And they asked the producer if Shatner know that they played them gay. The producer said yes, yes he knows. But it was a lie.😂 But Shatner laughed his head off.
I'd recommend 'Schtonk' by Helmut Dietl. It is about the scandal of the faked Hitler diaries. One of the best German satires... with an incredible cast.
This movie is a German Cult Classic and as far as i remember was even well received outside of Germany. The Creator Michael "Bully" Herbig is one of germanys finest comedians and also a great filmmaker. He has done tremendous work and is one of the last pillars of good old classic German humor and parody. Sadly, the whole industry has declined in the past 15 years. The german TV and Movie Business is somewhat struggling. The industry is actually huge, many big movies are shot in Berlin such as John Wick 4 because the german movie business is big and even financed by taxes.
The film was very successful for us. It is by far the 2nd most successful German film (with over 7 million German viewers) and is actually only one of the films Der Schuh des Manitu) Trumped. (this had over 11 million German viewers and is from the same team). Traumschifsupreise Periode 1 is a parody of Star Wars, Star Trak and other Snice fictional films.
I agree with some of the people here... "Der Schuh des Manitu" is the best film from Michael 'Bully' Herbig! It is so hillarious and so, so funny 😂🤘!!! A very good and funny german movie after a genious comic is "Der bewegte Mann" 😊! There is also Till Schweiger as one of the leading parts. It is from the 90s but really, really good. It had cult status 🤘🤘🤘

The 80s? I think in early 2000 it was still a thing. At least I know that show and I was born 1996
HE FINALLY DID IT! He discovered Traumschiff Surprise.
It was succesful, but I doubt it ever got to the level of 'Schuh des Manitu'.
I think, they tried to add english dub with the original actors, but it didn't really worked out. So maybe someone showed him a subtitlted version?
His career began on the radio, "Langemann und die Morningcrew" on Radio Gong 2000, where he also covered a few songs ( Help by the Beatles became Gelb), the Bayerncops were also invented on this show. They then had a program on a Munich TV station (TV-weiß-blau). Only then did his rise throughout Germany begin.
I found it very surprising that Bully also masters the serious genre perfectly. His film about escaping the GDR with a self-made balloon is absolutely exciting and worth seeing.
And on August come Das Kanu des Manitu in Cinema😍
The medival bits most certainly contain parodies of 'a knights tale'. And the fifth element is definitely referenced as well.
...and many more...
These three guys are legends of German comedy.
Indeed they are. Also "Bullyparade" was first class comedy!

"I wonder if this is still remembered" OH yes. People my age (and older) will never forget. The songs! The quotes! It's still very known here
It's really one of the best German parody movies of all time and I think it's the best movie from Michael Bully Herbig, the director.
nooo, the best was "Der Schuh des Manitu"
Considering the homophobic and transphobic jokes in the movie, it's really sad to say, that this is the best parody movie.
That is such a childhood classic
what will always stick with me is that both this one and 'schuh des manitou' have very explicitly sexualized jokes. But those are sex-jokes ... for children. Like I'm sorry, this might be the best part of these movies: they have SO many dirty jokes aimed directly at your inner 10yo.
I am an elementary school teacher and even the kids at my school know this movie. 🤣

William Shatner (Captain Kirk) also found it very funny.

You'd get burned at the stake for that kind of LGB+ portrayal nowadays.
Isn't Otto walkes in every shitty 7 dwarfs movies?
@@JohannesSkolaudei think he means the older movies with otto walkes, where he literally played himself.
Not only did I watch the movie, I even have a DVD of it with 10 year old me reading the Computer Log. I got that when I visited the film studio where this was filmed back then.
We sang the taxi song in school, most of us knew the lyrics by heart
I always love how Bully is craving for Käsesahne (cream cheese cake) . It sounds so cute the way he says it ❤
I love this movie.
Did you notice that the taxi driver (like Bruce Willis in The Fifth Element) is actually Til Schweiger? Very funny movie.
The term "Wegtreten!" as emphasized by Mauls translates into the military term "Dismissed!" but can also mean "Kick that away!".)
Anyway, both movies are very worth watching! ♥
I'd actually recommend watching "Der Schuh des Manitu" first, followed by "(T)Raumschiff Surprise", for the latter references the first in quite some scenes which are really sweet...
Long story short, if you end up deciding to watch these (maybe as a reaction even), maybe keep this cultural background info in mind while doing so. ;)
It's not all of it, btw, but while both movies being two of my all time favourites still to these days (some might call it nostalgia), I still wanted to mention at least the two most prominent cultural/social aspects.
I don't understand how anyone could feel offended by these movies. Bully in his gay role is simply adorable like a Labrador puppy 😍
As far as I know there is no official version with English subtitles. But I have an SRT-File with Fan made subtitles. I can provide you with it if you want to watch the movie.
Petition to react to the entire movie, I'd watch it all 😇
Omg, YES!!!

It was the second movie from Michael Herbig after "Der Schuh des Manitou", and it was created after Herbig had aired a show called "Bullyparade" in which one of the recurring sketches was "Unser(T)Raumschiff", which was a blatant parody (solely) based on Star Trek with a not-entirely-straight crew.

I watched and loved it as a kid and recently rewatched. God damn those jokes we beyond epic. We didnt know what we had until we lost it 😢
This movie is based on a TV Show called 'Bullyparade'… created by Michael 'Bully' Herbig from Munich… this movie and even more 'Der Schuh des Manitu' were the highest grossing german comedy movies of all recorded history…
Something about it no one said before in the comments or maybe I missed it the characters started as shorts in "Bulliparade" with a bunch of other crazy stuff like a Sissi comedy...
@@jelenasseid Yeah… the Bullyparade (Bully is the little guy playing gay Mr. Spock…)

Twenty years? We celebrated Sebastian's 12th birthday at the cinema, feels like this happened yesterday.
in case u wonder how big it was: The crew had a signature dish, die Käsesahne (creamed cheese). When the movie started, they collaborated with german mcdonalds, which sold "the real, original Käsesahne" while the movie was running in the cinema.
View Schuh des Manitu as well.. or at least I strongly recommend to have a look at the "Superperforator" Song from that movie sung by Sky Dumont (the legendary best last whish)

He still IS big comedian and he is currently working on Manitu 2
@@Cindy_Dakin_ I can´t agree that he still is to be honest. Laughing out loud may not have been my kind of show, but in general I feel like that since "Bully and Rick" nothing really good came from him. The Sissi Movie was okay, and even the movie he released a few years ago was okay at best...

@@fabigrossi2976ist ja klar, dass Ottos Witze platt sind. Er kommt ja auch aus Ostfriesland.

I mean... the one scene you kinda have to react to from this movie that sums it up perfectly ist the "Space Taxi to the sky" song.
@agentxx You've such a positive attitude 🙄
YES. I am not German but I moved to Germany to marry my German husband and he showed me this movie after I learned enough to understand. Love this movie and Bully Herbig. Also, the taxi driver was the German actor in SLC Punk. Love him honestly.

it's just way too good 😂
There are four well known German parody movies from the 2000s.
One of my absolute all time favourite comfort movies, and it's still making me laugh each time 😌
If you haven't seen them yet, you should take a look at "Der Wixxer" and "Neues vom Wixxer".
Edgar Wallace's Neighbor
There was a great TV series called "Die Bully Parade". From that a couple of films comes. "Raumschiff surpise" ore "Der Schuh des Manitu" for example.
I have not seen that one in years, but I loved it back then. I have to rewatch. Completely forgot about the scene in the dungeon with the little big and the shadow. 😂

THAT IS GERMAN KULTURGUT!
It‘s ICONIC!
Feuersalamander… mach d‘Beine auseinander SO HEIß ❤🔥!
Michael Bully Herbig‘s Films are huge and everybody loves them forever.

no way you got the aspect ratio right. Wow! Great job!
German here. Still to this day, Traumschiff Surprise, is a classic and fun.
Bully ist genial! Ich liebe noch die damalige Sendung "Bullyparade" sie sind soooo lustig und können wirklich alles!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
By the way, the out takes and bloopers are really spot on! 🤣🤣
The last movie I ever got on VHS 😁
There are so many quotes from these movies that have found their way into everyday language, like "Ich bin mit der Gesamtsituation unzufrieden!" ("I'm dissatisfied with the situation in general!")
The subtitles in this trailer are not great, though... some because of the innuendo and wordplay, but some are just incorrectly translated.
"Star Star Space" is another german Star Wars/Star Trek parody in form of a UA-cam series. You absolutely have to check it out. It has really good english subtitles.
Yup, it's definitely still remembered
The same guys made "Der Schuh des Manitu", which is a parody on the western genre in general and in particular of the "Winnetou" movies that were based on the books by the german author Karl May
Der Schuh des Manitu is actually getting a Sequel next year by them called "Das Kanu des Manitu". I really hope they keep the humor from the old movies, especially since the Winnetou movies from the 1960s are currently being frowned upon by some who call them a case of cultural appropriation

took me a rewatch of fifth element to realise the taxi and driver is a fifth element parody
All of „Bullyparade“ movies are really funny. 😁
1:20 the spaceship is literally Star Trek's USS Enterprise but inverted, thats the joke
You should see it from above. It's actually a huge space penis 🤣
Unless I remember wrong, the ship is an actual small model they built and then filmed for some scenes.
