I believe this movie doesn't have an english version, but their first film "Schuh des Manitu" does. From this movie I recommed you react to the superperforator commercial.

This Guy: Till Schweiger, he's a great actor!

It's the German "Space Balls" 😂

Yes, many puns would not work in the translation.

Michael Bully Herbig is a well known comedian in Germany. He had a comedy show on TV and also made movies for the cinema.

William Shatner laughed his ass off when he saw it. I think it was at the premiere.

Traumschiff Surprise started as a series of parodies on a tv show „Bullyparade“ (named after comedian Michael „Bully“ Herbig), and the movie spoofs more than just StarTrek. It was quite popular in German cinemas.

"Traumschiff Surprise" was a major success at tGerman Cinemas and was well-received by both audiences and critics alike. The film became the second-highest-grossing German film of 2004 and received several awards, including the Bavarian Film Award for Best Producer and the German Comedy Award for Best Cinema Film. The film is known for its quirky and absurd humor, as well as its loving homage to the science fiction genre like "Star Trek" and "Starship Enterprise". Many jokes and references are made to well-known movies and TV series. Michael "Bully" Herbig has produced, directed, and starred in a variety of films throughout his career. Another great movie from Michael "Bully" Herbig is "Der Schuh des Manitu" (2001): This is a German Western comedy directed and produced by Herbig. The film was a major commercial success and is considered one of the most successful German films of all time. About Austin Powers scene, where he kneels in a tent, while a woman is pulling objects "like the umbrella" out of her bag" is well known here in germany too... It´s iconic.

Michael Bully Herbig and the whole team: Heroes of my childhood

  • @Sellerieknolle76

Fun fact: The movie was released to cinemas on 22.07.2004 (when I watched it with some friends), and the plot of the movie starts with a UFO crashing in Nevada at the same day.

This was one of the best german comedies I I've seen in a long time!

What is important to know is that the pronunciation of the 3 main actors is a little 'special'. They speak the way you would imagine stereotypically gay men to speak, to put it mildly. Of course, that makes many situations even funnier. Unfortunately, this doesn't work when reading the subtitles. Of course that's a shame for people who don't understand German...

  • @DaxRaider

this and "der schuh des mannitu" was the best german movies xD

  • @laurajpr2

In Germany, Till Schweiger (pronounced more like shvygah) is really just known for really cringy but popular romcoms, for being an alcoholic and for weird political statements.

My colleagues and I went to the cinema and I baked a "Käsesahne" to eat it afterwards with them.

Bully, Christian Tramitz and Rick Kavanian, when I spall those names correctly, had a comedie series named Bullyparade. Each show is a compilation of sketches. Bully made a few movies to extend those sketches. As far as I know, there are "Der Schuh des Manitu" ("The shoe of Manitu"), "Traumschiff Surprise - Periode 1" ("Dreamship Surprise - Period 1") and "Lissi und der wilde Kaiser" ("Lissi and the wild emperor"). The last movie is an animation-movie.

There was a tv show called Bullyparade from 1997 to 2002, where they did short comedy sketches. Out of that came Der Schuh des Manitu (the shoe of Manitu), which was a parody of the old Winnetou-movies, basically german western movies from the 60ies filmed in Yugoslawia. The guys were so succesful, that Bullyparade ended and almost everyone got his own show. Traumschiff Surprise was not really a reunion but rather a clever usage of their united popularity by having a continuation of Schuh des Manitu, but without just making a boring part 2.

In Germany Til Schweiger is mostly regarded as not a very good actor. People Criticize that he always plays the same character and the same Expressions as well as having bad line delivery, since he mumbles a lot of Words.

I remember sitting in the cinema with a friend, when it first came out. At first, there is a ugly ship to be seen. I leaned over to my friend and said "Hey, that ship looks kinda ugly, right?" And as soon, as i spoke those words, the ship exploded. 😁
