I am about to embark on that journey. Lived on the road in a Vanagon, a 22ft. motorhome, a Toyota Previa, & traveled across the country in a Honda Civic lol. But my 4x4 Colorado with camper shell is going to be the ultimate!!

Something to consider is noseem screen with magnets to keep bugs out and let airflow in; put over windows and tailgate opening, quick and easy to put up, made a world of difference on my camper top. Awesome set-up I like the bed and lift for it.
Weather is always a problem in the summertime. I hate hot weather so much that I moved from the South to Minnesota and never regretted it. That was many years ago. I spent enough time in that hellhole in the South that I was so happy to step off the plane in 32-degree weather in Minnesota. The weather in Minnesota (and Canada) suits me fine. except this summer, totally sucked, i live just north of minnesota in canada, summer was blistering hot and no rain and no thunder storms at all, but being close to Lake Superior does tend to give a relief from the heat
hey brother, just drink the beer you like, don't try to impress people that don't care. you said you like miller lite, drink miller lite. we're still behind you bro. I'm new to watching utube videos,(to which I probably will subscribe to your channel, but, anyway, just be yourself, bro, camp on
Thanks bud👍🏻 I do like to try out new beers just for fun. Miller alt every trip kinda gets boring after a while. Should probably pack a couple in the cooler in case I end up with some nasty beer I’m trying out🍻🍻
I just what's the word I wont 2 use converted my truck camper shell, made me a bed with 2×4s n plywood fix it up loaded up my fishing pole s n gear its awesome broked it n ALLREADY luv it.
Absolutely love the setup you have in that truck. You should look into insect screens for the back window that you could maybe magnet to the inside to keep the bugs out.
Love how you psych yourself up for good fishing. :). A good option for a fork is a set of chopsticks for pasta, etc. Don’t have to be an expert - just drag the food to your mouth.:). Great vid.
I watch all of the truck campers, and you're right. They always have their beds on the drivers side. This new perspective makes the video seem much different, new, and unique. I like the change. Another great one!
Another plus to putting the beg on the passenger side is that on the drivers side, you can build shelves or whatever you want because you do not look out the drivers side window when driving. I am at this time changing my camper bed to the passenger side like shown in this video.
This setup reminds me of another UA-camr, "Crazy Quady 🤪." You would like him a lot. He is a really decent guy. I can't wait to view more of your videos and see where your adventures take you. You seem to be on the straight and a nice guy. Well, I'm going to subscribe so I can start watching more of your awesome adventures. 😊 Thank you for sharing your adventures and for all the hard work and time you put into your truck and your channel. You set your truck up awesomely. It fits you to the tee. Oh, which state are you in? 🤔 I just like to know where you're from and which state you're camping in. You don't have to say what campground you go to so it stays quiet and you don't get tons of people there. Because people do that, the UA-camr will say which campground they are at. The next thing you know, it's not that awesome little get away it's filled with lots of noisy people. So if you wanna keep a place the way it is, don't say the name of the campground. Thanks again for an awesome video. KEEP ADVENTURING GOD BLESS YOU 🤗HUGS🤗
I would suggest making a roll down velcro screen for that back lift window. The other thing I do when I truck camp is put op a simple 12x12 pop up and set it at the tailgate end of my truck (with about 3 ft overlapping the top of my truck). I'm sure you have thought of these things, but just in case anyone else hasn't.
Use a longer piece of paracord on your window "lock" with the cam-lock buckle. You can then use that to prevent the cap hatch from opening up so far, which funnels water right into the bed of the truck.
@@BrianWatersOutdoors hopefully she will contact you before then ,,,I’m sure all would like to have a second chance as I would ,,,Brain thanks for this awesome give away ,,,
Regarding the gaps it the rear of your truck tail gate, I agree that it is an area where rain and bugs can get in. My fix for this is to fill the gaps on both sides with rags to keep the bugs out and if rain is forecast some tape over the outside gap. My truck is a Tacoma with about a quarter of an inch gap by the tail gate latch and the above is the only way I have found to inexpensively fix this if only temporarily when I have a sleepover in it.
Found your channel because I’m looking for ideas for my own build. I’m liking what I see so far and love that it’s easy to covert back to a truck when needed. #brianwatersoutdoors
Trick to any michelada type beer is to gently stir the can before you open it (flip it upside down a few times). They have a tendency of separating the beer from the sours or chili.
Rooster Tail spinner. Black/white, with speckles and gray bottom if possible (kinda hard to find sometimes). I've never failed to catch at least something, in any body of fresh water or river, no matter where I'm at. Everything from Perch to Bass, Trout to Salmon, Pike, Walleye, I don't know what it is about them, but Rooster Tails have always worked for me ever since I was a kid. I just wish they would have never stopped making the propeller type spinners.... lots less getting stuck in weeds, and they never fail to spin like a spoon/paddle type can. I still have several from my childhood I just keep rebuilding. They are fish-catching suns-a-guns! :) I love your setup and really enjoyed the video!
I love a good thunderstorm Brian. I always found it very relaxing. The truck camper looks really comfy and cozy in there. Enjoy those trips. #Brianwatersoutdoors
So glad this showed up on my feed. I live in texas but following other truck campers. Nice to see a fellow Texan. ! Keep up the great videos #Brianwatersoutdoors#camping#truckcamping
You and your new Truck set-up did not disappoint 🙌 👏. Despite the weather outside, conditions inside the new build out seemed to work great! Yep, next the Air Conditioner build for sure. Florida is already hot during the daytime, most nights are still cooler than you'd think. Personally I'm loving the cooler nights... summer will be here soon enough. Lol.
Hey Brian, congrats on a successful camping trip in your new truck. When I was a merchant marine, I was in Singapore when MH-370 took off. I went on leave the next day and they hadn't. said anything about it yet. Maylasia wouldn't talk publicly about it because it would show gaps in their air defense system. I was working for the Govt. & they called me back early from leave to help look for the aircraft. I was one of the lead helmsmen on the U.S.N.S. Carl Brasher. (I knew Carl & his son personally.) I flew from Norf. Va. to Perth Aus. to meet the ship. All along I was listing to Patsy Cline, Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper, & Stevie Ray Vaughn, as well as Lynard Skynyrd. We never found anything around the "Roaring 40's" & south. It still boggles my mind on how you can lose something that big. Drive safe.
It's awesome to see you still having fun and making the best of bad weather. I love the setup. It seems so efficient. The spot is really fantastic. I am still having a hard time finding any spots remotely similar to this in Wisconsin. There is nothing on a lake. Everything is in the woods. Anyways, cheers and I look forward to the next adventure. #brianwatersoutdoors
Great job on the camper. NICE. I have a Tacoma five and a half foot bed, and that's the ONLY think I dislike about it - short bed - or I'd do something like this as well. Well, that and it'd be hard to put in the garage.
512 Brewing Company in Austin makes a Pecan Porter that is great on tap and they started bottling it. Probably not your type of beer. Rarely get hail in Sugar Land. Now all you need is a Maxxair MaxxFan 4-Speed Roof Vent Fan.
Great video! I do minivan camping myself. The idea of having a "false tailgate" to house an air conditioner intrigues me. I'll have to give that some thought!
#brianwatersoutdoors I live in Maine and camp on Webb Lake in Weld Maine across from Mt Blue and tumbledown. I have a pair of old binoculars but they are broken so you can only see out of one lense. I would love the telescope to be able to set up at the campsite to teach kids/parents about the night sky. Occasionally you can see the northern lights from there also.
I'm barely starting on my build. I adapted an older camper shell for my Silverado but it's just fiberglass so i need to insulate it and i want to build the internal frame so it supports weight on top since i might build the top sleeping area. I already have dual battery with isolator installed. I usually go out to the desert and camp or the mountains.
Hi Brain thank you very much for taking me along with you. I enjoyed everything. I love the view by the lake. I would love the telescope. Thank you. #brainwatersoutdoors

Another tag along on a Friday night. Nice setup and looks less cumbersome then the old one. #brianwatersoutdoors Like the telescope demo, hope you do more of this kind of stuff. But, most important- DON'T STOP FISHING !!!
Awesome camping spot in spite of the weather, and glad you fared well. We only received a bit of rain this morning down here south of Fort Worth. Thanks again for sharing! #brianwatersoutdoors
Me and my mom love your videos and find what you do very entertaining and enjoyable to watch keep up the great work. We would love to have have a awesome telescope like yours.
That looked like fun and I think it is smart to have your virgin trip close to home. You’re smart to test out everything first. I would have loved that rain storm, even though it seemed a little loud. Head phones may be in order but it is still the best time for a nap. I’ve thought about fixin up my Jimmy to do some short jaunts. I live in Texas too and there is at least a couple years worth of jaunts right in this state. And any type of climate you want. We have deserts. Piney woods, mountains, caves, observatories, gulf beaches, Alamo,River walks, glass bottom boats on a cypress tree river in San Marcus, semi tropical, cold and snowy in the panhandle. Texas has it all! You look like you are at lake Benbrook in South West Fort Worth. Big Lake, but around here I find that the fish don’t bite when it’s fixin to rain, or when the cows are lying down( due to the change in the barometric pressure) or so my. Grandpa told me.
First time watcing your channel! Hey Bush Apple/// Is it gone?? loved it!.....Rig looks great! loved that auto telescope...never seen such..much better than skyview on your phone! good job!
I’m so fascinated with space! I’ve been wanting a good telescope my whole life. This is the year I’m able to finally afford one. Great video as always! #brianwatersoutdoors
I've never fished in Texas, but up here in central New York I would have tried a top water frog popper. We care getting close to black fly season here in the Adirondacks and when they come out you better be wearing your bug net suit. Looks like the rig is working out good for you, just be safe with that stove inside. Drink your Miller lite it's my favorite beer. Take care and be safe.
Great video...sorry the fish weren't biting. We are in Texas too and my hubby is an avid fisherman when he's home. Used to have a telescope for the grandbabies but wasn't near as cool as yours.
hi the first time i went fishing for carp my line spent most of time in the trees and bushes and as for reeling the whole line in i got it tangled round my rod like a rats nest my friend who took me was forever sorting me out but dispite this i did manage to get a rather large fish it was a proud moment for a63yr old female and as they say i am now hooked
Sure do like that new truck camper setup. Can’t wait to see how you get the air conditioning rigged up. That new telescope is pretty dang cool! #brianwatersoutdoors

Hey man if you don’t like beer don’t drink it…seriously mango lime is not beer drop a straw in it and plant an umbrella in it! I’ve been drinking beer since I was about six started with Coors there was no Coors light back then in Hood River in fact diet beer didn’t exist as far as I know. My grandmother used to give it to me at dinner time pulled my own ring off.
From South Africa So what must I do with that ? Too early to get up Too late to.go back to sleep, And you eating & I'm now hungry ! 😋 Well done with the camper
I have always wanted a powerful telescope. A friend and myself talked about pitching in together to buy one for 350$ back in 2019. It would make my year to win that. Thanks for doing so many awesome giveaways, very cool. The channel has become very awesome Brian, well done. #brianwatersoutdoors
Really enjoying your videos. Finally got a new to me f150. Been wanting to get into truck camping. You've got some really good ideas. Thanks#Brianwatersoutdoors
You’re not planning on using the Zero Breeze this year? The setup is a bit wonky especially with the inlet and outlet hoses. As far as your rear glass goes, I think every camper shell leaks a little right there. I’m sure you could put some type of weatherstripping on the top of the tailgate to help some
Nice setup. Nice telescope. I need a better telescope than I have now because it doesn't really do anything except you can see the moon a little better.
Very good setup, may I suggest 2 things though, I live in the south and I know how hot it gets in the summer a good idea to create some type of cooling and an exhaust fans . When I have to cook inside I usually and always have MRI , I make my own MRI but buying some is also good with flawless heaters. And a truck pop up tent is nice I have one too sorry 3 suggestions not 2
Shiner brewery in Texas makes a good Brock beer. Try it. I don’t believe you went to fish but to try out your cooking skills, lol. Working on work boats we ate what we had.
Great video I can definitely tell ubwatch crazy quady tho for sure. With that setup the beer testing and iPad. Good video thanks for sharing. I always have hard time coming up with video ideas

To me for a "camper" I would prefer a van TONS of room, I lived on the river for 2-3 months at a time in a van all the room I needed.

truck and topper though has its advantages over a van as most trucks are 4x4

My truck tent was pretty fun when I used it a few times last year👍🏻
Hello Brian! Really interested in your bed setup, especially the base that opens to storage. Thanks much, appreciate it. Cheers from Michigan!
👍🏻👍🏻
Bubble wrap for those 1/4 inch gaps. Just shove a small bit in when it rains like that. Will work well.
Another tag along on a Friday night. Nice setup and looks less cumbersome then the old one. #brianwatersoutdoors Like the telescope demo, hope you do more of this kind of stuff. But, most important- DON'T STOP FISHING !!!
I’m NEVER stopping! I’ll get ‘em eventually🐟👍🏻
Awesome camping spot in spite of the weather, and glad you fared well. We only received a bit of rain this morning down here south of Fort Worth. Thanks again for sharing! #brianwatersoutdoors
Thanks👍🏻
In that setup I always used a small jig like for crappie I catch bass an in sun fish with it normally I used one wit a pink jig an green tale
👍🏻
Me and my mom love your videos and find what you do very entertaining and enjoyable to watch keep up the great work. We would love to have have a awesome telescope like yours.
Thank you👍🏻
Can't wait to see the false tailgate/ac addition. I built one that extends my bed 15inches. Waiting on the alabama heat to try it out.
I’m on my 3rd mock up now. These new tailgates are so different than a normal straight tailgate….ugh.
@@BrianWatersOutdoors yes, that was the problem I had with my first one.
Look up the "cooler" A/C. just need a 12v fan a cooler and some ice. Easy to make.
I tried that, but here in the south it’s just too humid for it to work
That looked like fun and I think it is smart to have your virgin trip close to home.
Thanks👍🏻👍🏻
First time watcing your channel! Hey Bush Apple/// Is it gone?? loved it!.....Rig looks great! loved that auto telescope...never seen such..much better than skyview on your phone! good job!
It is gone….but something better might be hitting the shelf’s soon from them🤞🏻🤞🏻👍🏻
Awesome first trip with it. Glad you did not get hit with hail. Slap 'ya Mama is a great spice, but for sure a little goes a long way. Very salty.
Thanks George👍🏻
I’m so fascinated with space! I’ve been wanting a good telescope my whole life. This is the year I’m able to finally afford one. Great video as always! #brianwatersoutdoors
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nice setup with the truck
It's still - 5c here in Owen sound
Thanks! That weather sounds nice!

Not great for sleeping in
It's great for rainbow trout fishing during the day
I've never fished in Texas, but up here in central New York I would have tried a top water frog popper. We care getting close to black fly season here in the
Adirondacks and when they come out you better be wearing your bug net suit. Looks like the rig is working out good for you, just be safe with that stove inside.
Drink your Miller lite it's my favorite beer. Take care and be safe.
👍🏻👍🏻
Great video...sorry the fish weren't biting. We are in Texas too and my hubby is an avid fisherman when he's home. Used to have a telescope for the grandbabies but wasn't near as cool as yours.
Thank you👍🏻👍🏻
I drink all kinds of beers. But the flavored ones need to be Rolled so that it mixes to get the best results.
👍🏻👍🏻
hi the first time i went fishing for carp my line spent most of time in the trees and bushes and as for reeling the whole line in i got it tangled round my rod like a rats nest my friend who took me was forever sorting me out but dispite this i did manage to get a rather large fish it was a proud moment for a63yr old female and as they say i am now hooked
Congrats👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Living like this for fun is awesome. Living like this because you are homeless is not always the best. In New England takes a little more
Nice simple setup. You do a great job of making it all look professional. It was fun to see your maiden voyage in the rain. #brianwatersoutdoors
Thank you Howard👍🏻
Wind is the one thing that can mess up a fishing trip. I can fish in the rain, in the dark, in the cold.....but not the wind.
Agree👍🏻 thanks!
Brian i enjoy watching your videos i just have came across your channel a few weeks ago and i really like watching them. keep up the good work
Thank you Pete👍🏻
Sure do like that new truck camper setup. Can’t wait to see how you get the air conditioning rigged up. That new telescope is pretty dang cool! #brianwatersoutdoors
Thanks👍🏻
Glad to see the truck is all together and improved! Seems like your set up is pretty dialed and not as crammed. 👍
#brianwatersoutdoors
Thank you👍🏻
By the far the best truck camping build i have seen on youtube! I just wish i could find a topper for my truck. I just want a regular leer topper or something like that thats not $3,000
Thank you👍🏻
Community Beer in Dallas is great. Love their Mosaic IPA. Tupps Brewery in McKinney has some great choices too.
👍🏻👍🏻
Celestron makes great scopes. I've dreamed of a goto scope. My 8" Dobsonian was stolen. Had to down size but manual. Enjoy that scope. Anyway, good to see your first outing. Not to mention that morning view. #brainwatersoutdoors
👍🏻👍🏻
Brian Iv been following your videos for a while now! Watch them every week! Was always curious what you do for a living but i think you mentioned aerospace/aeronautics. I work for Sikorsky in Connecticut building Blackhawks! Stay well brother
Hey Kyle, that’s awesome! I help build our current fighters, as well as the legacy ones too
Small world! I’m at Lockheed Martin, hope
All is well and can’t wait for the weekend, i might have to send you some local beers from connecticut
👍🏻👍🏻
1st time watcher love the way u did your truck bed very nice absolutely beautiful scenery & so close to the lake Great video
Thank you Carol😀
I just found your channel. Looking forward to watching all of your videos. Brianwatersoutdoors keep up the great work.
Thanks so much😀
From South Africa
So what must I do with that ?
Too early to get up
Too late to.go back to sleep,
And you eating & I'm now hungry ! 😋
Well done with the camper
👍🏻👍🏻
I have always wanted a powerful telescope. A friend and myself talked about pitching in together to buy one for 350$ back in 2019. It would make my year to win that. Thanks for doing so many awesome giveaways, very cool. The channel has become very awesome Brian, well done. #brianwatersoutdoors
Thanks so much Joshua👍🏻
Really enjoying your videos. Finally got a new to me f150. Been wanting to get into truck camping. You've got some really good ideas. Thanks#Brianwatersoutdoors
Thank you Chris👍🏻
You’re not planning on using the Zero Breeze this year? The setup is a bit wonky especially with the inlet and outlet hoses. As far as your rear glass goes, I think every camper shell leaks a little right there. I’m sure you could put some type of weatherstripping on the top of the tailgate to help some
Probably not. It worked well, but kind of a pain to setup with all the ducting.
I’m not much of a fisherman, but when I use sparkly lures when it’s overcast I get bites, not a lot but get some.
👍🏻👍🏻
Nice setup. Nice telescope. I need a better telescope than I have now because it doesn't really do anything except you can see the moon a little better.
👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you were honest about the beer because let's be honest that's all thatr matters
😂👍🏻👍🏻
Like the new setup. Very nice. I have some land here in Missouri and that telescope would be so much to play with. Keep it up. #brianwatersoutdoors
Thank you👍🏻
Your pepper breath from that beer run the fish off. Found you this morning and have watched three videos. Thanks much.
I’ll use that excuse too😂😂👍🏻
First video I saw from you. Love the peaceful waves of the lake. 😊
Thanks👍🏻
Very good setup, may I suggest 2 things though, I live in the south and I know how hot it gets in the summer a good idea to create some type of cooling and an exhaust fans .
When I have to cook inside I usually and always have MRI , I make my own MRI but buying some is also good with flawless heaters.
And a truck pop up tent is nice I have one too sorry 3 suggestions not 2
Thanks👍🏻
@@BrianWatersOutdoors I meant flameless heaters not flawless, damn auto correct
that telescope is super cool!!! my kids would love that #brianwatersoutdoors :) the truck setup is just about perfect! nice job. Cheers! 👍🍻
Thanks Devon 👍🏻
Shiner brewery in Texas makes a good Brock beer. Try it. I don’t believe you went to fish but to try out your cooking skills, lol. Working on work boats we ate what we had.
👍🏻👍🏻
Great video I can definitely tell ubwatch crazy quady tho for sure. With that setup the beer testing and iPad. Good video thanks for sharing. I always have hard time coming up with video ideas
👍🏻
