I got ram 2500 done up similar to yours and best decision I ever made. I'm pretty much living on the road now. Enjoying life better then I've ever have
I am about to embark on that journey. Lived on the road in a Vanagon, a 22ft. motorhome, a Toyota Previa, & traveled across the country in a Honda Civic lol. But my 4x4 Colorado with camper shell is going to be the ultimate!!
#brianwatersoutdoors I live in Maine and camp on Webb Lake in Weld Maine across from Mt Blue and tumbledown. I have a pair of old binoculars but they are broken so you can only see out of one lense. I would love the telescope to be able to set up at the campsite to teach kids/parents about the night sky. Occasionally you can see the northern lights from there also.
Hail damage = payoff truck much quicker, I almost bought a Yukon in College Station that had hail damage, I could honestly care less about cosmetic damage on a used vehicle if it drives the price way down, found a better one in Madisonville instead though but hail damage doesn’t impact vehicle function at all, I had a pole barn though so after I bought it I’d always go park it in there if there was threatening weather. #brianwatersoutdoors
Weather is always a problem in the summertime. I hate hot weather so much that I moved from the South to Minnesota and never regretted it. That was many years ago. I spent enough time in that hellhole in the South that I was so happy to step off the plane in 32-degree weather in Minnesota. The weather in Minnesota (and Canada) suits me fine. I still don't like July and August, but at least it's cool in the Spring, Fall and Winter.
Something to consider is noseem screen with magnets to keep bugs out and let airflow in; put over windows and tailgate opening, quick and easy to put up, made a world of difference on my camper top. Awesome set-up I like the bed and lift for it.
Absolutely love the setup you have in that truck. You should look into insect screens for the back window that you could maybe magnet to the inside to keep the bugs out.

Use a longer piece of paracord on your window "lock" with the cam-lock buckle. You can then use that to prevent the cap hatch from opening up so far, which funnels water right into the bed of the truck.
hey brother, just drink the beer you like, don't try to impress people that don't care. you said you like miller lite, drink miller lite. we're still behind you bro. I'm new to watching utube videos,(to which I probably will subscribe to your channel, but, anyway, just be yourself, bro, camp on
Thanks bud👍🏻 I do like to try out new beers just for fun. Miller alt every trip kinda gets boring after a while. Should probably pack a couple in the cooler in case I end up with some nasty beer I’m trying out🍻🍻
Trick to any michelada type beer is to gently stir the can before you open it (flip it upside down a few times). They have a tendency of separating the beer from the sours or chili.
I would suggest making a roll down velcro screen for that back lift window. The other thing I do when I truck camp is put op a simple 12x12 pop up and set it at the tailgate end of my truck (with about 3 ft overlapping the top of my truck). I'm sure you have thought of these things, but just in case anyone else hasn't.
I watch all of the truck campers, and you're right. They always have their beds on the drivers side. This new perspective makes the video seem much different, new, and unique. I like the change. Another great one!
Another plus to putting the beg on the passenger side is that on the drivers side, you can build shelves or whatever you want because you do not look out the drivers side window when driving. I am at this time changing my camper bed to the passenger side like shown in this video.
Great video! I do minivan camping myself. The idea of having a "false tailgate" to house an air conditioner intrigues me. I'll have to give that some thought!
Great video...sorry the fish weren't biting. We are in Texas too and my hubby is an avid fisherman when he's home. Used to have a telescope for the grandbabies but wasn't near as cool as yours.

Found your channel because I’m looking for ideas for my own build. I’m liking what I see so far and love that it’s easy to covert back to a truck when needed. #brianwatersoutdoors
Rooster Tail spinner. Black/white, with speckles and gray bottom if possible (kinda hard to find sometimes). I've never failed to catch at least something, in any body of fresh water or river, no matter where I'm at. Everything from Perch to Bass, Trout to Salmon, Pike, Walleye, I don't know what it is about them, but Rooster Tails have always worked for me ever since I was a kid. I just wish they would have never stopped making the propeller type spinners.... lots less getting stuck in weeds, and they never fail to spin like a spoon/paddle type can. I still have several from my childhood I just keep rebuilding. They are fish-catching suns-a-guns! :) I love your setup and really enjoyed the video!
First time watcing your channel! Hey Bush Apple/// Is it gone?? loved it!.....Rig looks great! loved that auto telescope...never seen such..much better than skyview on your phone! good job!
You and your new Truck set-up did not disappoint 🙌 👏. Despite the weather outside, conditions inside the new build out seemed to work great! Yep, next the Air Conditioner build for sure. Florida is already hot during the daytime, most nights are still cooler than you'd think. Personally I'm loving the cooler nights... summer will be here soon enough. Lol.
It's awesome to see you still having fun and making the best of bad weather. I love the setup. It seems so efficient. The spot is really fantastic. I am still having a hard time finding any spots remotely similar to this in Wisconsin. There is nothing on a lake. Everything is in the woods. Anyways, cheers and I look forward to the next adventure. #brianwatersoutdoors
That looked like fun and I think it is smart to have your virgin trip close to home. You’re smart to test out everything first. I would have loved that rain storm, even though it seemed a little loud. Head phones may be in order but it is still the best time for a nap. I’ve thought about fixin up my Jimmy to do some short jaunts. I live in Texas too and there is at least a couple years worth of jaunts right in this state. And any type of climate you want. We have deserts. Piney woods, mountains, caves, observatories, gulf beaches, Alamo,River walks, glass bottom boats on a cypress tree river in San Marcus, semi tropical, cold and snowy in the panhandle. Texas has it all! You look like you are at lake Benbrook in South West Fort Worth. Big Lake, but around here I find that the fish don’t bite when it’s fixin to rain, or when the cows are lying down( due to the change in the barometric pressure) or so my. Grandpa told me.
512 Brewing Company in Austin makes a Pecan Porter that is great on tap and they started bottling it. Probably not your type of beer. Rarely get hail in Sugar Land. Now all you need is a Maxxair MaxxFan 4-Speed Roof Vent Fan.
Regarding the gaps it the rear of your truck tail gate, I agree that it is an area where rain and bugs can get in. My fix for this is to fill the gaps on both sides with rags to keep the bugs out and if rain is forecast some tape over the outside gap. My truck is a Tacoma with about a quarter of an inch gap by the tail gate latch and the above is the only way I have found to inexpensively fix this if only temporarily when I have a sleepover in it.
Great job on the camper. NICE. I have a Tacoma five and a half foot bed, and that's the ONLY think I dislike about it - short bed - or I'd do something like this as well. Well, that and it'd be hard to put in the garage.
I'm barely starting on my build. I adapted an older camper shell for my Silverado but it's just fiberglass so i need to insulate it and i want to build the internal frame so it supports weight on top since i might build the top sleeping area. I already have dual battery with isolator installed. I usually go out to the desert and camp or the mountains.

The ZB was nice, and the Wave is great too, but you still have to deal with ducting which I did t want to mess with. I might be getting a Wave 2 sent over here to check out so I’ll definitely share my experience with it if I do get my hands on one.
@BrianWatersOutdoors the wave 2 is supposed to be a actual heat pump so it can be used for cooling and heating. I have the original wave and just vent the exhaust hose out. Keep the unit itself inside
Great video I can definitely tell ubwatch crazy quady tho for sure. With that setup the beer testing and iPad. Good video thanks for sharing. I always have hard time coming up with video ideas
Hey Brian, congrats on a successful camping trip in your new truck. When I was a merchant marine, I was in Singapore when MH-370 took off. I went on leave the next day and they hadn't. said anything about it yet. Maylasia wouldn't talk publicly about it because it would show gaps in their air defense system. I was working for the Govt. & they called me back early from leave to help look for the aircraft. I was one of the lead helmsmen on the U.S.N.S. Carl Brasher. (I knew Carl & his son personally.) I flew from Norf. Va. to Perth Aus. to meet the ship. All along I was listing to Patsy Cline, Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper, & Stevie Ray Vaughn, as well as Lynard Skynyrd. We never found anything around the "Roaring 40's" & south. It still boggles my mind on how you can lose something that big. Drive safe.
Hello I am new to your channel this is just the second video I have seen so far but I like what I have seen . The first one I saw was you walking through how you built your camper set up I like how simply perfect your layout is great design on your bed and that cabinet it awesome. WOW your new telescope is incredible crazy how sophisticated it is. How fun it would be if by chance I won you giveaway. I look forward to your next video

Shiner brewery in Texas makes a good Brock beer. Try it. I don’t believe you went to fish but to try out your cooking skills, lol. Working on work boats we ate what we had.
You’re not planning on using the Zero Breeze this year? The setup is a bit wonky especially with the inlet and outlet hoses. As far as your rear glass goes, I think every camper shell leaks a little right there. I’m sure you could put some type of weatherstripping on the top of the tailgate to help some

Check out the ecoflow wave. The wave 2 is on it's way. Guessing the zero breeze didn't cut it?
The ZB was nice, and the Wave is great too, but you still have to deal with ducting which I did t want to mess with. I might be getting a Wave 2 sent over here to check out so I’ll definitely share my experience with it if I do get my hands on one.
@BrianWatersOutdoors the wave 2 is supposed to be a actual heat pump so it can be used for cooling and heating. I have the original wave and just vent the exhaust hose out. Keep the unit itself inside
These setups make awesome DOT approved hotshot sleepers I had my Chevy 2500HD setup similar
👍🏻👍🏻
Great video I can definitely tell ubwatch crazy quady tho for sure. With that setup the beer testing and iPad. Good video thanks for sharing. I always have hard time coming up with video ideas

You should try hot dogs on your fishing hooks. Yes pieces of hot dog as bait

I live up with in the Sequoia National Forest in California in the Kern River Valley that telescope would be awesome for up here

Drive safe.
That’s an amazing story🇺🇸 thanks for sharing it and thank you for your service👍🏻

Shiner brewery in Texas makes a good Brock beer. Try it. I don’t believe you went to fish but to try out your cooking skills, lol. Working on work boats we ate what we had.

Camp Jim Ross ATL 😮😮😮
👍🏻👍🏻
You’re not planning on using the Zero Breeze this year? The setup is a bit wonky especially with the inlet and outlet hoses. As far as your rear glass goes, I think every camper shell leaks a little right there. I’m sure you could put some type of weatherstripping on the top of the tailgate to help some
Probably not. It worked well, but kind of a pain to setup with all the ducting.
